PS: sorry Sakura28 I missed the 8 off! x

hairytriangle · 12/05/2010 18:18

Sakura28 I just found this link

www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=87948.0

it says:

Why do people suggest Pineapple Juice?
Pineapple contains selenium...and selenium (an anti-oxident) helps promote a healthy womb lining which is why it is thought to aid implantation. Pineapple also contains an enzyme called bromelain which is contraindicated during pregnancy as it may cause uterine contractions (many people, especially in Asian cultures, suggest eating fresh pineapple to induce labour if overdue)....however, during processing this delicate enzyme is destroyed which is why its ok to drink pineapple juice in moderation when ttc or pg but not to eat fresh pineapple/pineapple pieces etc .

The preferred juice to drink is fresh, pressed or "not from concentrate"....although not the best, its still ok to drink "from concentrate"...all this means is that the pineapple pulp has been frozen or freeze dried for exportation and then reconstituted with water.

A small glass of pineapple juice a day is supposed to be good but there are also many other food sources richer in selenium than pineapple (brazil nuts included!)

This link provides some info on selenium & a list of food souces:

Gah, anyone would think I was hormonal or something - last post was meant for moonfold

x

digitalgirl · 12/05/2010 18:28

So so sorry you're going through this a third time barrenbrook. I've had 2 mc's and when I asked the epdu about what would happen if I had a third they said they would start investigating causes during the miscarriage. They also said that there were some tests that they could only run after two normal periods (hence the three month wait) as any residual pregnancy hormones would affect the results. Apologies if you've already been told this. I think there is a thread on the mc board where they discuss the tests they're having done. Are you returning for another scan?

Back in Digi-world I am hoping that all this ewcm I'm getting (evenings only, anyone else like this?) is a sign of ovulation. If so I'm about a week behind my last cycle if I counted my first day of bleeding as cd1.

LucyT66 · 12/05/2010 19:04

Shit! I've been eating fresh pineapple just about every day for the past month!

LucyT66 · 12/05/2010 19:06

Sorry I forgot to say sakura28 so sorry that you are here. A 4th mc - my god, that is so much to go through.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about the hcg shots, but I'm sure some knowledgeable folk will be along soon with advice.

WildSheepChase · 12/05/2010 19:16

Sakura and barren- I was also on my own in the waiting room this time around. It's so hard. x I'm so sorry you're going through this again barren.

I was referred after my third miscarriage to a Consultant, and after a few tests there was nothing obviously wrong, so I was started on aspirin therapy (in case of Hughes Syndrome) and booked in for a lap +dye. I conceived my DS a month later and due to the aspirin he stuck, and I was then under the same consultant for antenatal care.

Does anyone know if it is cumulative or if you start again if you already have a child and are m/cing, with regards to referral? I was on aspirin again this last time (mc #4) but assume it would be only after mc #6 (please God no) that I would be referred again. My cycles are very different this time round though- 60 days instead of 33 days.

Still waiting to TTC again. No RTD on the horizon.

barrenbrook · 12/05/2010 19:33

wildsheep your post gives me hope thank you. As for the 3 mc thing, as far as I can make out from reading bits in books etc you have to have 3 consecutive mc so if you have had a viable pg in between it knocks the counter back to zero again if you see what I mean (which I think sucks!) However I can't imagine that something that significant would go unnoticed if you were to mention it. I'm so sorry to hear that you have suffered another mc and find yourself here.

cheepz honey, I am not surprised you are on a self imposed amnesty with all that on your plate lady! If you were TTC you can almost guarantee you'd fall pg at the first go.

Have had a change of heart and am being booked in for Mon or Tues for ERPC, I came home and thought about it and decided I wanted it over with, my brain wasn't quite working properly whilst sitting in the room of doom uncontrollably crying and doing that wobbly bottom lip thing every time someone asks you a question

Anyone for some chocolate? I have fruit and nut and whole nut going, two very large bars!

barrenbrook · 12/05/2010 19:36

sakura sorry honey, missed your post. So sorry to hear about your mc, 4 is shit and so bloody unfair. Sending you a big (((hug))) As for HCG injections I'm not sure, but I'm sure one of the ladies on here will know.

clareanna · 12/05/2010 19:53

Barrenbrook so sorry to see you here - life is sometimes just SO unfair - can't believe you're going through it again.
Am not going to take your choccie away from you - think you deserve it all, washed down with a big glass of wine. ERPC is so quick, and a tiny amount of anaesthetic so I'm sure it doesn't do any long term harm. It sounds like you've been incredibly brave and strong - take care x

sakura also sorry you've found yourself here too x

what an amazingly strong bunch of ladies you all are - your courage and strength makes me feel so proud to be a woman - wishing us all a brighter future

Cheepz · 12/05/2010 20:28

Looove fruit and nut thnks barren and yes amnesty is basically all about now being worst time in the world to get pregnant - am still hoping to invoke a less major sods law once we have moved and i have just started new job so still not ideal, but not a catstrophe.

I am with you on the ERPC decision - I was a mess in the scan but then after just wanted to have everything dealt with quickly.

sakura 4 is very tough, big hugs and lots of supportive crooning for you, i don't know about HCG injections but my cousin who had lots of mcs at 7 weeks had to have progesterone injections, although actually one of my nct friends had 4 miscarriages and onther fifth pregnancy they threw everything at it, HCG jabs, progesterone jabs, steroids to counter natural killer cells the works - she had a lovely DS. If you are consistenly miscarrying at the same time does indicate stage related problem.

Moofold · 12/05/2010 20:32

Thanks LucyT and Hairy for the info. I detest pinapple so will happily give the one I bought to DH. However, I read somewhere else about it and it suggested it was the bromelain you wanted and you could take supplements during the TWW. How contradictory! Hasn't done you any harm LucyT

'So I have done some research, and have found that Pineapple core helps with Implantation of the embryo.Pineapple Core has what is called bromelain that will help with implantation.Using Pineapple core to Assist Implantation: Pineapple contains bromelain. Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme that breaks up proteins that inhibit embryo implantation. Consuming a whole pineapple (focusing on the core as it has the highest concentration of Bromelain) during a fertility cycle can be beneficial.'

Hello again Sakura - I recognise you from the prevous thread. So sorry you find yourself here again.

Cheepz · 12/05/2010 20:34

gaaah = need to do my workout - tonights dvd is carb and calorie burner - suposed to be 10 min solutions - 10 mins every day but i end up doing all 5 so its 50 mins - unfortunately DH says its helping - think thats the Blast your Belly Fat one (i have 4) so i feel i should continue, motivation - 0, desire to channel surf - 10... pshaaaw

Moofold · 12/05/2010 20:36

Last pineapple related post, promise but I read on and saw this:

'Do NOT eat the meat of the pineapple- You need to AVOID Pineapple Juice. Do NOT take with Baby Aspirin as these are BOTH blood thinners!

Pineapple juice is not recommended for use in TTC and/or pregnancy. In large doses, it can cause uterine contractions and bring on spontaneous abortions (miscarriage).'

urd · 12/05/2010 20:52

Hi all, am finally back on here after all the stress of this year and computer been out of action for a while. Haven't caught up on all the posts yet, just want to say really sorry for you BARRENBROOK, thinking of you and you know we are all here for you. Also to you Sakura too.
Well I actually got my AF yesterday, didn't know where I was with it all, my body must have decided to miss out last month altogether probably with all the stress of losing my dad. This month I shall try again and just see what happens. Hope everyone else is ok, I wil try to catch up tomorrow with all the latest goings on. Take care all.
My new stats are TTC#3UCL28CYCLE2CD2 if anyone is updating.

aly323 · 12/05/2010 21:02

Barren and Sakura, so sorry about both of your situations. I'm yet another who has been stuck alone in the waiting room. It was awful.

I don't really know much about what they do in the case of recurrent miscarriages. I know people get sick of the "hopeful" stories, but my stepmother had three when I was pretty young. She then went on and had five kids naturally. No reason was ever found for the mc's.

I'm just curious, do most of your doctors automatically check progesterone levels when you're pg? They don't over here. It just seems that that's such a common problem. I don't know why they wouldn't check if you can start supplementing and maybe prevent a mc.

I really hate that they wait and make you go through so much before they'll do testing that often result in exposing problems that can be fixed relatively easily. It's especially frustrating when time isn't really on your side.

VivClicquot · 12/05/2010 21:32

Evenin' all x

Hi Sakura - I remember you from our last thread and am so sorry to see you back here again. Losing four is unimaginable, so I hope you're bearing up as well as you can be.

Barren - I know it's a very personal choice but I'd choose the ERPC over anything else every time. You're sounding very strong, you know x

I don't know anything about pineapple, but I can tell you that I'm guzzling my way through litre upon litre of M&S Pink Grapefruit Juice at the moment. I'm sure it's making fuck all difference to my EWCM, but how many old wives can be wrong, eh?

WestYorkshireGirl · 12/05/2010 21:58

Long, stressful day so just dropping in quickly - so sorry for Barren and Sakura*. Don't know what to say, really other than I am thinking of you.

Muser · 12/05/2010 22:27

Just wanted to give a massive hug to barrenbrook. Awful news, I'm so sorry for your loss.

sakura28 · 12/05/2010 22:45

Evening all,

Thank you for all of your lovely, lovely words. Really can make a difference when you're feeling a bit low and rubbish, its so nice of you all and hi to all who remember me from past thread, its nice to "see" you all again, although the circumstances aren't ideal are they

Thanks hairy , have been googling it too but am impatient and didn't get results straight away! But what you said sounds pretty spot on. Also I know what u mean about waiting for a scan, can you just ring them up and demand one?!

Thanks also cheepz stories like that make me feel more positive about carrying on, like clareanna said , we are all so strong to "deal" with what is happening to us, really proud of us all.

Hello and hugs to everyone else, sorry am a bit tired to name check all but will catch up again tomorrow.

xxxx

northerngoldilocks · 12/05/2010 22:52

Having been lurking on here for a while, now feel its time to pop in. Had a MMC in April - ERPC on the 9th. It was my first pregnancy. Was told to wait for 2 periods before trying again, currently still waiting for the first one so didn't feel like I could be on a 'TTC' thread, as at the moment we're 'waiting'.

Anyway, am rubbish at waiting for anything so thought I'd post anyway. Have my follow up appt next week as consultant said would follow up after 6 weeks (had ERPC on work private medical ins). Not sure what to expect from the follow up, so if anyone has any info would be appreciated, but will also see whether any reason why we can't try again more quickly. Think would feel better about the MC if I felt like I wasn't just in limbo.

LadyBee · 12/05/2010 22:53

Hi all, I'm so tired and very sore after spending much of the day digging a new garden bed. Really really sad to see Barrenbrook and Sakura, so sorry ladies, it's just shit and that's it really. Very sad indeed.

hairytriangle · 13/05/2010 00:11

welcome northerngoldilocks Wave! I know what it's like to feel in limbo so lots of sympathy and tea from me to you!

Well I've just waited at the EPU for nigh on three hours - still have positive urine blood test done and guess what??? BOOKED FOR A SCAN AT 11.30 IN THE MORNING - WOOOOHOOOOO!

Dr said she thought it could be a very early ectopic and I might have to take a drug to get rid of whatever is still there, but that will depend on what the scan shows.

Just wanted to say thanks to all o you for your support xxx

ladybee sorry you're feeling knackered, but good knackered, hopefully!

PrettyVacant1 · 13/05/2010 00:21

Barren I'm so sorry,
Just popped on before bed and saw last update on phone and had to post.

I'm off tomorrow so I'll read posts and catch up then xx

Thinking of you mate xxx

So sorry.

aly323 · 13/05/2010 04:59

Northern, welcome. What you've gone through is crap, but this is a good supportive group and I find that being here has helped me beyond words.

Hairy, I'm so glad you were able to book an earlier scan. Good job! Better to just figure out what's going on sooner rather than later. You deserve to put this behind you and move on asap.

I got a haircut AND bought a new floor today. Spent loads of money. I figure the best was to get myself knocked up again is to completely deplete my savings.
