Nice clean thread for us - may there be many a BFP on here

OP posts:

Thanks Magic8 Hopefully Cheepz Dorcas Moo BUnder PrettyV and Viv for all your kind words. Still stunned. Cursing my recent life of riley - all the wine, blue cheese and mousse I was drowning my sorrows with. Don't quite believe a blue line makes a baby though.

PrettyV - got my fingers crossed for you tomorrow. Really hope you'll hear some good news.

Viv - tend to agree with the others. Don't put yourself under too much pressure. If you don't feel you can cope, don't feel you have to try.

Hopefully - enjoy your SWI-ing!

Dorcas - I was rather amazed that my doctor did know. Bizarrely I was prepared to have to tell him, but totally unprepared for his sympathetic concern. I blubbered most embarrassingly.

Magic8 Tigger - good luck with the spots!

VivClicquot · 11/05/2010 17:31

Aw thanks everyone. While I think you're all very wise, I know deep down that I'll more than likely end up going. But I will bear your wise words in mind.

Like Hopefully, I've got a busy week of SWI which will hopefully take my mind off more sad matters. Day 10 here and the EWCM has started, which has confused me somewhat as it seems a bit early. Hey ho...

Yoohooo ladies!

Yay RHG we needed a lift hunni, smashing news so pleased for you.

Viv tank up before you go girl, brave face and all that jazz.

Haven't done the summer clothes shop yet, waiting until Friday as I'm off work then and will have plenty of time. Been eyeing up a few things and have worked out a reasonable budget.

I have also discovered SWI will be the week we are away which is wonderful news. The sunshine should do the trick . Current tempreture 36 OMG I'm going to cook alive!

Still no word on the job, I'm bored of that now pfft!

linda what a lovley story, see there is light at the end of this tunnel. Never forget that!

Love to all x x x

hairytriangle · 11/05/2010 18:31

Oh Linda what a lovely couple of stories! x

hairytriangle · 11/05/2010 18:41

Hello chaps.

Congrats RHG!

what is SWI? (desperately trying to work it out - it sounds like it might be fun?)

I have got an ongoing saga. HCG bloods went from 24 to 64 to 55 to 75 and now (yesterday )77
after a miscarriage which ended a week ago Sunday.

So spoke to the doc at hospital and they now want me to go in on Monday for more bloods, and on tuesday for a scan . She says they don't know what's going on as it should be going down after a miscarriage, and levels are way too low for any chance of an ongoing pregnancy.

I am however considering a private scan for two reasons. 1. I'm fed up to the teeth of all this waiting and upping and downing and 2. I want to know if there is anything sinister inside me that needs to come out before I TTC again!

hairytriangle · 11/05/2010 18:42

oh, and afer feeling pretty well all along, I now feel a bit woozy and have slight pain in my abdomen and a bit of a swollen tummy (which could be wind from all the fibre I've been eating).

clareanna · 11/05/2010 18:47

Hi all - have been lurking with lots to say to everone but no time to post. Currently waitig for colleague to get ready- going to big corporate do tonight. Have forgotten slip so having serious static issues- may end up flashing later- arggh

haven't got time to name check much sorry- wave and hug to newbies x

aly have done exact same thing this weekend- at christening loads of bumps and babies and old friends. Was feeling defensive and when someone asked me the dreaded question "are you planning another one?" instead of the agreed phrase dh and I had come up with of "we're working on it " ended up saying "actually we lost one a few months ago" cue horrified silence - whoops

viv thinking of you this week x

rhg woohoo!!!! Fx for you!! We needed that news! You've started the may ball rolling - who's next?!

randomimposter · 11/05/2010 19:57

oooo, fascinated by the all the political wranglings, but just to say a quick woo hoo to RHG - I demanded a BFP for May and so it came to pass.... if only it were that easy!!!

Hairy... you must be so all over the place... I am NO expert, but could it be a vanishing twin...? Thinking of you.

Hi to all... must dash, have to watch Gord 'n' Dave

x

WestYorkshireGirl · 11/05/2010 20:38

Well done Red for giving us our first BPF this month and even better that it was a surprise!

Also glued to the TV so am slightly distracted...

Hairy SWI = Shagging or Sex with Intent. Hope things settle down for you soon.

Littlemiss - great news on the timing of your holiday, but if it's that hot, you might get stuck together (which happened to me and DH on honeymoon in France!)

Dorcas sorry about your experience at the Drs today.

Magic8 hope the dreaded pox isn't too bad.

Viv I find the comment that 'when you stop worrying about it - it will happen' very unhelpful! I'm sure it has a grain of truth, but it's so much easier said than done.

Well, I think I am nearing the top of the list, but don't fancy my chances this month as we all know about the lack of success the other week. Have had another good outbreak of spots, but don't think this means anything!!

Freezingmyarseoff · 11/05/2010 20:47

Evening all

don't have a working TV at the moment so can't follow the Gord'n'Dave saga but it all seems a bit of an anti-climax to me.

Linda thanks for the positive stories. Sorry you're leaving us

RHG yay for you, and yay for us to have a BFP to lift us, thanks.

Hairy Oh, it's just so horrible having all this unknown. I can't believe you have to wait until Monday for another scan. Private sounds like a good idea if you can.

Littlemiss yes sunshine really does the trick for some SWI or at least some practice SWI in our case

MrsPV thinking of you for tomorrow

Tigger & Magic8 have fun with the spots

Viv I'm another one thinking of you this week

Hi to everyone else too, although i don't think there's many people around at the moment, sounds like most people are SWI (Hairy that's shagging with intent!)

Freezingmyarseoff · 11/05/2010 20:56

Ladybee I meant to answer your questions on freelancing.

I just fell into it by chance really. A friend's dad, who'd set up a small consultancy recently, was looking for some extra help and I had the relevant experience. I've only done freelancing for this one company so I don't have lots of contacts for lots of work.

But basically I've actually really HATED it, and am so glad to stop for a while. I really struggled with working from home. I'm not self disciplined enough. I still organised childcare for DD because I couldn't have done the work around her or late in the evening, so didn't save much on that. The money was quite good but in the end both DH and I decided it wasn't worth it for the stress it caused me (and him).

dorcas111 · 11/05/2010 22:03

The chocolate cake and flowers did help a bit thanks Magic8, I have felt a bit weepy today but have done a lot of cupboard clearing out which has been therapeutic.
Now, I have a question. I'm very new to this whole TTC and SWI thing- the last baby was a lovely little surprise, although it was very much wanted and made us realise that we wanted a baby. We're using the every other day method, and have been since the end of my period. Today is day 19, there has been no more EWCM, I am knackered and my OH is stuck at work because some bloke has apparently said he is our new prime minister. So... can I have a night off please? Am I unlikely to be ovulating or should I not take the chance? I am very tired...

digitalgirl · 11/05/2010 22:12

Congrats redhead what a way to find out! Do you know how far along you might be?

linda lovely stories! Life has a way of being so surprisingly wonderful sometimes.

Think I have ewcm now, so sexy bloke symptom yesterday must have been spot on. Been swi-ing almost every other day for two weeks already I suppose a couple more days can't hurt. Well we'll keep going till my [tmi] cervix snaps shut. Poor dh has a cold and I think I'm coming down with one too but I am a slave to my flipping cm. That is what ttc for 10 months does to you.

Anyway we have a new prime minister this evening. Was sad watching Gordon Brown leave number 10 with his wife and two sons.

digitalgirl · 11/05/2010 22:19

dorcas glad a bit of cake & cleaning sorted you out! And yes, have the night off fgs (ha, am one to talk). If there's no more ewcm and your cycles are normally 29 days then you're probably into your luteal phase now. In case you think your cycles may be a bit all over the place you'd still be ok to leave a couple of nights between shags.

I have irregular cycles hence dh is on strict instructions to keep going till I'm absolutely sure I've ovulated. (I'm never sure).

dorcas111 · 11/05/2010 22:30

Thanks digitalgirl, right I'm off to bed, hooray .

LadyBee · 11/05/2010 22:40

PrettyVacant I hope you do get some concrete information tomorrow, and not just more tests etc.

Redhairgirl, wow! I'm so pleased! I was starting to wonder whether there was about to be BFP drought, so well done for breaking that . Fingers crossed for these nerve-wracking early days.

Viv, I'm glad your GP is ordering at least the basic tests - I'm sure she meant well but I find the 'it'll happen when you stop trying' comment less than helpful. If you do have a mini-breakdown what's the worst that can happen? People see you being upset about an upsetting event in your life - there you go.

Dorcas, glad you're feeling a bit happier this evening. It's always hard when it comes flooding back. Definitely take a night off if you don't feel like it - the last thing you want is for sex to feel like a big chore that you HAVE to do, and I think you're likely to have covered the important days.

Tigger and Magic8, can I bring DS along to the pox party? We haven't had it yet either and I really do want to get it over and done with sooner rather than later.

HairyT, gosh, what is going on I wonder? Maybe there is something left behind that is causing the hormones to carry on rising? When you say woozy, do you have a temperature?

Freezing thanks for the insight into freelance - one of the things that puts me off is having to chase work (and chase invoices). Really, what I want to do is just reduce my hours more and do them all at home so I don't have to commute! oh yes, and be paid more

And hoo-bloody-rah, I started spotting this afternono - just as Moo predicted from my temperature dip, I felt quite chuffed that my body managed to get that right . I'm going to fire up the CBFM tomorrow morning, and I'm abandoning the waiting group and diving onto the list.
Can whoever does the list for Wednesday add me to it starting day 1 tomorrow?

hairytriangle · 11/05/2010 22:42

Jolster hi, no, it can't be anything viable with HCG levels this low

WYG thanks, I knew it'd be something like that! LOL

Freezingmyarseoff LOL at your name. This will be my first scan, I can't believe they haven't scanned me yet, as my journey has been

Weds Positive test
Thurs bleeding started, HCG 24
Sunday bleeding stopped
Monday HCG 64
Thursday HCG 55
Saturday HCG 75
Monday HCG 77

they keep saying they don't know what is going on, there could be some retained 'product' but they haven't booked me in for a scan until next Tuesday - and I have to have bloods taken on Monday.

It's getting really tedious and this evening I have started to feel queezy and achey

(sorry for self-indulgence post, just wish I knew what to do)

LadyBee · 11/05/2010 22:45

Hairy if you're feeling unwell, like coming down with flu', then go back and insist on being scanned earlier - if there is something left it could cause an infection and the last thing you need is that making you ill and possibly damaging fragile ladybits.

hairytriangle · 11/05/2010 22:50

Hi ladybee

Do they do scans at all times of day and night?
If they do, I'm kinda tempted to go up tonight.

I don't feel fluey, I feel a little bit down, and just slightly weak (I've actually been really well since the MC, although knackered and emotionally wobbly.

I also have a slight tummy ache, and a 'pressing down' feeling when I walk or sit.
The awful thing is I can't stand the thought of going up to the hospital tonight, and spending time waiting around, or being admitted.
I think I'll see how I go over night, and maybe go up there tomorrow.

LadyBee · 11/05/2010 22:59

If you go to A&E they should have someone able to do a scan or at least assess you for either infection or (worst case) ectopic (sorry, don't want to alarm you, but anyone with a +ve preg test and lower ab pain needs to have that ruled out).
Do you have a thermometer to take your own temp?

LadyBee · 11/05/2010 23:05

I'm off to bed now - I hope you feel better in the morning, but please don't hesitate to chase up treatment if you feel worse overnight. Big squeeeeeeeze.

aly323 · 12/05/2010 04:21

Hairy, I absolutely agree that you should try to get this checked earlier rather than later. You don't want to mess around with something that could be serious. And, if it's nothing, you'll feel so much better knowing. Please take care of yourself and keep us posted.

Clareanna, You answered the question just the way I would have! We even have the same general "appropriate" answer. "We're working on it" is our usual answer to all the "any news" or "are you planning to" type of questions.

Sorry about RTD LadyBee, but happy to see you make the move!

Big, huge congrats to RHG!!!
