Ridiculous Symptom Spotting... come on... you know you do...

1000 replies

millymoo1234 · 29/03/2010 21:22

OK, so since TTC I've thought (or wondered briefly) the following might be signs of being pregnant...

funny rash on my legs - still don't know what this was
three spots on my forehead - I was convinced this was a hormone induced 'breakout' as I don't normally get spots)
General bad mood - turns out I'm just grumpy
crazy dreams
needing a wee
not needing a wee
not liking the smell of coconut - weird
feeling very weepy and sore boobs - hmmm... this could have just been PMS!
stuffy nose

This month I have a massive craving for Mango which I'm normally indifferent to - I am of course CONVINCED that it's my month...

Am desperately trying to hold out till next weekend to test... I need distractions! anyone else had any funny symptoms and wondered if it could be a SIGN?

pleas join in the madness and let me know I'm not the only one! xxx

ARrrrrrrrrrgh. I was due AF yesterday and today still no AF but feel nauseous and very tired.

I'm desperately trying to convince myself that the teensy bit of red-tinged CM is implantation or some such thing rather than my AF on its evil way.

I'm so not pg am I? I'm just going to start my blardy AF.

swizzlestar · 15/07/2010 20:40

Assassin - no was def af! Temp is off the scale, not just high......flipping useless thing.

Bicnod- you're on the right thread lol. I had all sorts of preg symptoms except a bfp!

I'm on cd6 so enjoying a big fat glass of wine. Actually it's Lambrini so you can't even call it wine. Had forgotten how yummy it is, and at £1.70 a bottle you can have 2!!!

Bicnod · 16/07/2010 06:17

Swizzle I like your style

AF still not properly turned up - just a bit of brownish blood with a tiny bit of red.

This is doing my head in. Grrrr.

Bicnod · 16/07/2010 06:51

Bugger. AF got me I spoke too soon.

row78 · 16/07/2010 07:58

I hate the concept of implantation bleeding, I'm beginning to think it doesn't exist and someone made it up to mess with our heads even more each month

I mean the embryo is teeny?.how much blood that could that actually cause whilst implanting?

Bicnod · 16/07/2010 09:09

row I'm with you on that. Since I found out about implantation bleeding even when my AF is clearly (to anyone who isn't completely mad) starting I am still desperately clinging on with the tiniest bit of fingernail to the hope that it isn't AF, oh no, it's just the mythical implantation bleed.

Oh well - onwards and upwards. I wonder what symptoms my traitorous body will throw at me next month...

swizzlestar · 16/07/2010 09:11

Bugger @ bicnod

I agree with Row. I have 3 children (+ a mc) and have never had implantation bleeding. But then I know others that have, also my aunt had af's all the way through her prg with my youngest cousin! And that's my strange family fact for the day.

Now I'm going to moan ! I am flipping exhausted! Apart from the stormy night keeping me awake, dd woke 3 times and ended up in our bed, dh was snoring and don't even mention the bloody cat...... I can't remember the last time I had a decents night sleep and it's catching up . Can't believe dd keeps waking up.........

Bicnod · 16/07/2010 09:17

How old is your DD swizzle? DS wakes up too if it's any consolation.

bossyboop · 16/07/2010 09:18

Well ive managed bding cd 4 6 8 10 12 and tonight is 14 so should be on the cards. I think either way im onto a winner this month as going out next month. This may tempt an egg into action or on the other hand if it dosnt then hooray let the drinks flow! Always seem to arrange a good night out after af as it seems a good pick me up and its before i even ovulate so guilt free!

swizzlestar · 16/07/2010 10:35

bicnod - she's 4. Always been a rubbish sleeper, but had stopped with the waking in the last 6-8 months. It's been bliss!

bossy - good effort lol!! I have to say I had a couple of drinks last night and have a whole lot more planned for the weekend. Going to take full advantage of my bfn, then back to being good for the rest of the month .

BloopBloop · 16/07/2010 12:28

started to write and then boss came in - have to start over. "You're not facebook-ing are you?"
"Of course not" says I with perfect innocence

row I have many symptoms - each more absurd than the last. My favorite at the moment is simply 'feeling a bit off', although I havent needed to pluck my eyebrows in ages and my chin appears to have regressed to adolescence all on it's own. (clutches at straws)

I cant remember who asked what cycle day I'm on cos the page has moved up, but I'm not counting cycle days because then its easier to convince myself that 18 months of failure doesn't count because we're not really really trying

Dandeliondrama · 16/07/2010 19:28

Hi All, I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack {waves}. Laptop has been on the blink for the last week and I've been in serious mn withdrawel. Good to be back . I love you ladies to bits.

I'm on about CD17 and haven't ov'd yet. but am expecting it any day now. DH and I have been dutifully bd-ing every 2nd day since about Tuesday, so hopefully the mad symptom spotting will start next week .

Assassin I adore the new name, sheer brilliance. Let's hope that it's prophetic this month!

Bossy I can see you're keeping your legs well up in the air, lol. Go girl! Do you know which date you ov on?

Swizzle sorry to hear about your rubbish night. My DH also snores so you have my full sympathy.

TGIF {collapses on couch}

willsfox · 16/07/2010 20:00

Hi all - new to Mumsnet but in the monthly desperate search for signs that surely it must be this month came across this thread. It's good to know I am not the only one

Think I have experienced every sign known to (wo)man for the last 18 months - actually makes me laugh now!

Anyway good luck to all on here with your BFP - it will happen for us all I am sure!

Karstan · 16/07/2010 20:10

Although I've got no other symptoms whatsoever it would be good to have an excuse for the dreadful wind I've been suffering from lately

AuntFlosAssassin · 16/07/2010 20:18

rofl at dandelions dramatics .wow you sound pleased to be back . tgif is right i did feck all in work today, just could not be arsed AT ALL.

I think i had better live up to my name this month

Hi wills {waves}.what cd are you on?

lol at bloop and her boss.technically you did not lie,he/she didnt actually say mnetting . i hate that though when youve written loads and you have to close the screen really quickly, cause guaranteed i never remember everything id written.

AF arrived today, not just spotting but very light so i am officially cd1. im dreading tomorrow as day 2 tends to be a nightmare for me and i start to think im gonna bleed to death af hits that hard {chews lip worriedly}.Anyhow onwards and upwards is the only thing to be done.i have officially banished yesterdays depression and will faithfully try to relax for a change.

A1 hope your doing ok.please come back when you feel better and let us all know how you are {hugs}

swizzle snoring ugh! sooo annoying,i poke dp till he rolls over whenever hes doing that.

Bicnod · 17/07/2010 12:23

Assassin - we're both on CD2 - hurrah, I have a cycle buddy

Bossy - you are my inspiration - I have informed DH that we will be having loving, spontaneous (hahaha) SWI every other day throughout my cycle and then every day for three days from when the OPK stick says I'm ov-ing. I've even put it in my diary

Right, DS is asleep so I really should catch up on other MN threads do something useful.

AuntFlosAssassin · 17/07/2010 13:23

Bicnod ooh i havent had a cycle buddy in a while .we can compare symptoms when the time comes lol

bossyboop · 17/07/2010 21:15

ive been a bit naughty ladies, was supposed to have the legs in the air last night but i think the lure of alcohol next month put me right off. Even today with cm that could have stretched the length of the uk I havent been remotely tempted. Im on cd 15 now i think after last months weird cycle, last bding was cd12, so can still symptom spot as its so much fun

Been spotting ovulation symptoms which included suspicious boob, very blue veins and something else but i cant remember it now!

Got a nice alcoholic drink in my hand and just relaxing this month which i think is a good thing as i dont know how the weird cycle last time may have affected this month, may need a month to get back to normal or it may be business as usual but lets hope the weirdness doesnt come again this month.

Cheers everyone, glug glug!

Dandeliondrama · 18/07/2010 09:42

Yes I'm happy to be back Assassin . Heaven knows how I managed day-to-day life before the invention of the internet, lol. Sorry to hear that AF got you though, and hope that your day 2 was ok?

Oooooh Bossy you have been naughty! I've tried to behave on the alcohol front but keep getting funny looks from my friends (who don't know about us TTC), so have inevitably given in once a week with something light like pimms just top throw them off the scent. Am not sure that it's working though .

I'm completely confused about my cycle this month, as was supposed to ov yesterday and still my opk tells me that it hasn't happened. But I also chart other things like bbt, cm and cervical position (sorry, wasn't sure if there is an acronymn for that), and those sort of point to ov being yesterday or Friday. AND I had mid-cycle spotting yesterday, which is another ov sign. Maybe the opk got it wrong? Anyone else had trouble with dodgy opk's? Am feeling particularly at the mo, grrrr.

Bicnod · 18/07/2010 12:33

Naughty bossy. PMSL at 'suspicious boob'

Dandelion are you POAS once or twice a day? This site says that you can miss your surge if only doing once a day - maybe that's what happened?

CD3 so no symptom spotting for me, just grumpiness and cake.

AuntFlosAssassin · 18/07/2010 14:01

rofl at bossy-i think i need to take a leaf out of your book!

Dandelion i do not trust them opks at all,but what bicnod said is true,if only testing once a day it is possible to miss your surge.
Day 2 luckily was strangely light for me! Hope this doesnt mean af will stay longer than normal cause ive to go see my gynae cons on friday and obv that will be quite an unpleasant experience if af is still lurking.

lol atbicnods grumpiness and cake.im suprisingly ungrumpy for a change, and satisfied my choc urge with ben&jerrys choc fudge brownie ice cream last night

is everyone having a nice weekend?

hairytriangle · 18/07/2010 19:30

I think this thread is for me!
Been using condoms due to a partially blocked tube and ov from that side. Am 5 dpo and have

extreme tiredness
sore nips
mild stomach cramp feeling
runny ish nose
itches
strange taste in mouth
slight sicky feeling

prob kidding myself!

Dandeliondrama · 18/07/2010 20:30

Thanks for that Bicnod and Assassin, that's the first time I've heard about potentially needing to poas more than once a day for ov so am very pleased with that bit of info

Hi hairy, Welcome! I'm a little confused by your use of condoms in conjunction with symptom spotting?

hairytriangle · 18/07/2010 21:02

Dandeliondrama

Me too - it's me being a little bit nuts, I think!

Without providing TMI there may have been an 'on too late'occurrence, but still it would be a miracle.

I just spotted 'Ridiculous Symptom Spotting' and I thought 'that's me!'

MummyWithA1Family · 19/07/2010 02:30

Hi guys. I'm back. Any BFPs in my absence? Or is that just me wishful thinking for the rest of you?

Hi Hairy no matter how impossible it may seem it is possible to conceive whilst using condoms - I know from experience! In Nov/Dec '07 I fell on whilst using condoms. My DH even had an obsession about checking them for leaks afterwards and it was completely intact but I still fell on! Unfortunately we lost that baby and a week after MCing I fell on with DS and his twin (sadly lost twin). Since DS I've suffered 4 more MCs, one of which was again conceived via an intact condom! How on earth it's possible I've no idea but it is! I can't take the pill so rely on condoms. How is it though that when we use condoms I can get pregnant but when we are actively TTC nothing happens? Ah the mystery of life!

Good luck all on the dreaded 2WW I wish you all the strength you need not to test until 1 or 2 days after AF due (although I know it'll definitely probably be impossible difficult not to POAS every day after EWCM & BD).
