Ridiculous Symptom Spotting... come on... you know you do...

1000 replies

millymoo1234 · 29/03/2010 21:22

OK, so since TTC I've thought (or wondered briefly) the following might be signs of being pregnant...

funny rash on my legs - still don't know what this was
three spots on my forehead - I was convinced this was a hormone induced 'breakout' as I don't normally get spots)
General bad mood - turns out I'm just grumpy
crazy dreams
needing a wee
not needing a wee
not liking the smell of coconut - weird
feeling very weepy and sore boobs - hmmm... this could have just been PMS!
stuffy nose

This month I have a massive craving for Mango which I'm normally indifferent to - I am of course CONVINCED that it's my month...

Am desperately trying to hold out till next weekend to test... I need distractions! anyone else had any funny symptoms and wondered if it could be a SIGN?

pleas join in the madness and let me know I'm not the only one! xxx

wow bev didnt realise yours was cs, mine wasnt, tho think he would have had a good look if it had been as well!

I will have to go and have a look at that story...

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 11/07/2010 19:05

Hi girls

Mine was cs too bev and they did a pretty good job of stitching me up though i do still have a bit of a pouch really low down .the rest im afraid is due to my love of chocolate lol

My cramps are more like af cramps today and have been pretty much constant all day.

Gonna go have a look at that post in a sec.i read a really funny one yesterday, will have a look and see if i can find it again.it was hilarious (involved a 3 yo girl, her mum and a bunch of workmen)

Anyone have any new symptoms to add?

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 11/07/2010 19:24

Read this girls,its so funny:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/999854-I-am-thoroughly-embarrassed-What-must-the-workmen-think

Bev had a read at that post you mentioned.. poor woman lol

bossyboop · 11/07/2010 20:28

I read a brilliant one in AIBU about frozen peppers of all things, i was actually lol, dh thought i was mad!

Dandeliondrama · 11/07/2010 20:44

lol @ bossy and seany. Will tell dh that we've been instructed to head for bed, haha.

bossyboop · 11/07/2010 20:45

and keep them legs in the air!

bev2102 · 12/07/2010 01:44

OMG Seany that's so funny! That poor woman! I think I feel her shame more as it would be very likely that something like that would happen to me knowing my luck! Lol. Bit scary though that a 3 year old was able to let herself out of the, I would assume, locked house. What if she did it another day and went for a walk? I'm so unbelievably anal about safety and security especially in today's society of hyped up media reports that make us think that evil is lurking around every corner just waiting to pounce!

Bossy I had a very traumatic birth with DS that turned into an EM CS. From signing the consent form in the delivery suite to DS being delivered in theatre was just 3 minutes (to give you an idea of how badly and how quickly things went horrifically wrong). I am determined to try for a VBAC with DC2 and under no circumstances will I accept an induction as this can cause CS scars to rupture and endanger baby and mum's life. With DS I didn't have a birth plan as such, I was given the option of CS or natural delivery. As I chose natural I was told I would be induced at 38 weeks (I think this contributed to the EM CS), that I must have an epidural before the induction started and I was not allowed to push for longer than 30 minutes because of my health (registered disabled due to tumours covering 90% of lungs). Next time however I will have 3 very specific birth plans written down and signed by consultant to prove he's aware.
Birth plan 1 will be a straightforward VBAC, 2 will be a VBAC resulting in EM CS and 3 is for a planned CS (only to be used as last resort ie baby overdue as I won't have an induction or health risks to baby/me if I chose a VBAC). I'm so desperate to be able to bond with DC straight away as the bond took a long time with DS, if it's even there yet. I hate to admit that I didn't bond immediately as I feel like a useless mother. I love DS so dearly but must admit he doesn't feel like mine, more like I'm borrowing him and they'll come to claim him any day. The traumatic birth, followed by DS and I being very sick for 3 weeks and then my dad passing away very unexpectedly 1 month and 1 day after DS's birth (he never even got to hold him) all contributed to the bond not developing. It tore my heart in two when DH developed such a strong bond so quickly, I was so happy at this yet unbelievably jealous at the same time.
I'm sure this is the wrong place to post all this and for that I'm sorry.

bev2102 · 12/07/2010 01:47

PS Seany my CS scar is soooo tiny and neat that it's hard to believe a 7lb6oz baby came out of there. Infact it's alot smaller than my appendix scar (probably only a third of the size as unbelievable as that sounds!).

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 12/07/2010 08:27

Oh Bev its heartbreaking to hear your story,im so sorry you had to go through all that. It is only normal for you to feel like that after such a horrific birth in which things didnt go the way you planned, and then to have the double blow of your dad passing away. That would be hard enough on anyone, never mind having such a traumatic thing happen so soon after giving birth to your first child, which is a life changing event in itself.
I too had an em cs after a hard 4 day labour, which im convinced contributed to the fact that i suffered from bad post natal depression, but my situation sounds so much less horrible now after hearing what you went through.hugs

I believe you about the scar, mines is quite small and neat too . Pity about the stretch marks though

How are you feeling today? Dont apologise for posting that cause you obviously needed to get it off your chest.

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 12/07/2010 08:33

Bev forgot to say,in relation to that story about the workmen, aparantly the door is always locked but the workman had a key and had opened the door so that he could reach a power point. I keep going back and reading it and it makes me giggle every time.

swizzlestar · 12/07/2010 09:10

Morning!!

Sorry not been on alll weekend. My quiet weekend turned out not to be after all!

Anyway, did my fr test on Sat am (cd28) and got a bfn, and then by the evening af got me....oh well, shows that I'm truly crap at symptom spotting. Tmi, but after my first proper af since mirena......I want my lovely hormones back!! It's gross, and really crampy and still feeling sick. So I had a lovely bottle of wine to make myself feel better.

Off to catch up.

bossyboop · 12/07/2010 16:36

Oh bev, all sounds perfectly understandable to me given everything thats happened. I always feel lucky having had a simple pregnancy and labour and know it may not be so straightforward next time round. But you could always start another thread if you felt you wanted to as im sure there will be lots of others who have had traumatic births that you will be able to relate to.

Swizzle - how typical after poas and an expensive one too.

Im on cd10 and starting to get some ewcm so fertile days ahoy!

coraltoes · 12/07/2010 17:37

Hello ladies
i'm new to this site but used it recently when i got my BFP- and boy do i wish i had checked sooner! instead of symptom spotting i was watching the world cup etc...but I thought i'd share my symptoms in case it helps any of you spot your own

1- sensitive tooth when brushing (v.odd as had been to dentist recently and not had any remarks on cavity etc)

2- bit of nausea on bus which I put down to travel sickness

3- spots on chin

4- absolutely exhausted...i mean i'd have been happy to nap at work! not usual for me at all!

5- absolute byatch to husband, oops.

then i got what i thought was AF, awful cramp followed by two days of next to nothing...just dark brown on tissue paper. So dont be disheartened by that!!

then suddenly I started to feel a bit bloated after work, clothes looking snugger, not so as anyone else would notice but enough for me to think, time to hit the gym!

I took a test last thursday and it was +ve! i'm still gobsmacked as we werent really trying yet, just going with the flow.

So anyway, i wish you all the very sweetest of luck, and hope you might find a tiny glimmer of help in my own experience.

Loujalou- I def had cramps!! so dont worry about that. infact 7 weeks into preg and i am getting awful cramps which is still normal accding to doc. x

bossyboop · 12/07/2010 17:51

Hello Coraltoes, thanks for taking the time to post, whenever we get a bfp on here i go back through the posts to see what their symptoms were to see that they werent so ridiculous after all! Congratulations to you, hope it all goes well!

rosieroseanna · 12/07/2010 18:34

Well this is my first month of trying, I took my last pill on the 17th of June and came on on the 20th, I then got a smiley face I think on the 15th and we had quite a lot of sex. I thought I was due on on Thursday and tested yesterday and got a negative but realised today I'm prob not due on until Saturday/Sunday so I tested early. I felt amazingly sick this morning about 11am and had a dry mouth although I've started to think maybe I'm imagining this!

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 12/07/2010 23:03

Hi everyone,

Well i def think af is on her way as cramps are there consistently now.

Thanks for your post coral .congrats and best of luck!

Hi rosie [waves] good luck!is this your first?

TheDiceGirl · 13/07/2010 00:50

hi everyone! Just thought i'd let you all know, i've had a blood test so i'm waiting on the results of that now. So it's nice to know something's being done at least. Today is cd69 i haven't tested for a while now, it's probably been about 2 weeks. Symptom wise, there isn't much to tell. Skin's been playing up a bit, might have felt a bit sick earlier but not really sure if i was just imagining it, bleeding gums, heartburn, and being a moody cow in general lol. That and i'm having trouble sleeping but seeing as exhaustion is meant to be a pregnancy symptom i'm guessing i'm not and it's just the heat never mind! How are we all?x

TheDiceGirl · 13/07/2010 01:07

oh and also welcome back fairybubbles! Nice to see you on here again i'm still on the same bloody cycle as i was when you were last on here! Lol. Hope you're well

MummyWithA1Family · 13/07/2010 01:46

I've changed my nickname from bev2102 to MummyWithA1Family in honour of my amazingly supportive and ever loving family (plus it's a little more anonymous!).

Thanks for your kind words Seany and Bossy.

Seany can't believe you had to go through such a long labour, 4 days only to end up with EMCS that must've been awful. If you don't mind me asking was it failure to progress or decels? At least, like me, we had beautiful healthy babies at the end. That's what matters really. Postnatal depression is so hard to deal with. On the outside everyone thinks you're doing/looking amazing, on the inside you're falling apart.

Bossy thanks for the idea about new thread but don't think I'm quite ready for it yet. On this thread it's mentioned a few times then in a few pages it's in the background. Whereas, if I started a new thread it'd be only that that's talked about and I don't think I'm strong enough to deal with it yet. Little bits every so often is the way forward for now. Thanks again for the idea though.

Welcome to all newbies/rejoins - fingers crossed for success to all this month. Congrats to Coraltoes on BFP. Think we need another soon or maybe a few. Seany hoping for you next (I think you're the longest, therefore most in need!).

DiceGirl Can't believe you're on CD69, let's hope for a miracle BFP that home tests haven't been able to pick up on. I thought my long cycle was bad enough but now realise it was nothing in comparison.

swizzlestar · 13/07/2010 10:54

And to think I thought I had a bad time with ds!!! Blimey girls......

Dice - how long do tests take to come back?

Coral - congrats on bfp!

Rosie - welcomd

If af got me, how come I'm still feeling sicky???

Has anyone tried/taking agnus castus?? I've been googling this and seen good things.

What else are you taking?? Supplement-wise lol. Obviously folic acid, but is there something else I should be taking?

TheDiceGirl · 13/07/2010 12:52

thank you mummy i'm hoping so too! If not i'll be so annoyed at the amount of time my body has decided to waste haha. I'll be finding out tomorrow swizzle so today is going incredibly slowly! To be honest aside from the folic acid i haven't been taking anything else.. Maybe i should be? hope everyone is well!x

row78 · 13/07/2010 13:38

Hi all,

my af came on saturday so I out of the game for this month, I ordered a CB fertility monitor as someone very kindly pointed out on here that they were £50 on ebay, but I think it was delivered today whilst I was out and won't be able to pick it up until the weekend, grrrr. Assume this means I won't be able to use it now until next cycle.

swizzlestar · 13/07/2010 14:26

Row we can be cycle buddies rofl. I got af the same day.

MummyWithA1Family · 13/07/2010 14:42

Me three Row! Cycle buddies it is Swizzle.

Row unsure when you can start using CB Fertility Monitor but it'll say on CB website. Did you get test sticks with it or remember to order separately as I don't think they come with the Monitor. Good luck hope it works.

Dandeliondrama · 13/07/2010 18:46

swizzle I'm taking folic acid and have persuaded dh to take zinc supplements, but that's all. What's agnus castus?
