So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

OP posts:
BrassicaBabe · 23/06/2010 17:31

PMSL at the thought of vallinna getting carted away by men in white coats!

Ah sorry miffles, but the comments stand too..18 weeks?! WTF?!

I've texted DH to tell him to lay back and think of England for the next 3ish days. (I wanted to say 4 but didn't want to scare hime ) He's not texted back, but I got a big snog when he came in for coffee

Miffles · 23/06/2010 18:45

Yes, under the NHS the waiting time for an appt to see a fertility specialist is 18 weeks. Now, it may well be that the appt is sooner, but it will be within that time. They have to see you by then. I'm ok with it though - keeping busy with losing weight and taking supplements and relaxing about it. Having had the preliminary checks and coming to terms with the fact I'm not "normal" has been emotionally demanding. So am happy to have a few months not thinking about it. Who knows - I may be pg by the time the appt comes through.

I def def def would say that if you have PCOS and come off the pill, that the weight gain is due to that. If you research what PCOS is, it is to do with hormones and in particular insulin (that's why diabetes is more common). Your body doesn't use it's food energy properly and converts it to fat rather than using it. Hence gaining weight. And the more weight you gain, the more the hormones are wonky and the more weight you put on. Vicious cycle, but really worth working at dieting. I'm trying supplements to settle it too, and some in particular that are meant to help you use the energy better. Will wait to see if it works.

Well done vallina on your dildo-scan. The worst bit over, I think!

gormers · 23/06/2010 23:59

Well done vallina - would have been hilarious to be a fly on the wall if you had asked for piccie!

Am now resorted to some very wiley tactics to get some JS in whilst OH on nights - he leaves before I get home from work and vice versa, so there is the distinct possibility that the whole week of window could go by and us not even see each other let alone JS!! Have stopped short of pleading with work to let me go home early to go and have some sex, but am pretty close!! Would be a change from people wanting to leave early to watch footy! Maybe I should brazenly ask a male boss and then plead women's rights and sexual inequality if he refuses to let me leave!

Oh dear! And by the time he finishes nights, his flippin parents come over to stay!!

Should I be as brazen to the mother-in-law? "If you don't leave now and let me do the dirty with your son, then you'll never have a grandchild!!" Wouldn't you love to actually say what you mean to everyone!?!

takethatlady · 24/06/2010 07:59

Right. I am off to the doctor's. Yesterday I got a BFP - I still have it, the pink line is still visibly there, DH sees it, etc. Then I did another test last night of the same type and a digital to confirm - both BFN, and again BFNs this morning. WTF?????

I stupidly told a friend because I had to go to work all day and by the end of the day I couldn't keep it in any more. Why on earth do I keep getting false BFPs? I am going to ask for a blood test today. Maybe it's just early.

I am so , , and

gormers · 24/06/2010 09:31

Oh my god - takethat, I'm so sorry to hear that your body is still playing tricks on you. Well done for keeping sane with this, I wouldn't be v

Hoping so so much that a blood test will show a bfp, you deseve it!

Good luck, will be thinking if you.xx

vallinnapod · 24/06/2010 09:35

Awh takethat what an arse. Why do our bodies (and/or technology) do this to us?? At least with a blood test you will know for certain.

As i have been completely flying in the face of this thread (temp charting, doc visits, dildo-cams) I am announcing I have a long weekend away planning for copious amounts of JS sex. I aim to be walking like John Wayne by Monday

takethatlady · 24/06/2010 10:18

Thank you ladies. I can always count on this thread to cheer me up! PMSL at vallinna walking like John Wayne! Sounds like you're going to have a brilliant weekend.

Trying to keep sane. Not really managing it. Working from home today, have Jeremy Kyle on (insane enough in itself), and am starting to feel like the rest of the world is super-fertile. I might write to them about their false advertising. Anyone watching this show for the first time would be led to believe that unprotected sex actually produces babies, lol!

Anyway, if it's negative at the doctor's, I am throwing away all the internet cheapie tests. They cause me too much grief. Then I'll have to buy expensive tests and I'll only test when I'm properly late (though God knows when that is). So perhaps this is just my initiation into the TRUE mentality of JSing!

vallinna, if only you had that picture You could have put it on a dartboard and taken all your frustrations out on it (well, not all your frustrations ... sounds like those can be saved for the weekend )

takethatlady · 24/06/2010 10:20

PS gormers, do you and your DH pass each other on your way to/from work? Maybe there's a nice layby you could utilise?

Or you could meet him on his lunch/dinner break and do him in the loos.

Who knew JSing could be so romantic?!!!

takethatlady · 24/06/2010 10:22

PS (final post, I promise). Docs is at 4. I'll let you ladies know. Does anyone know if you get the results there and then?

takethatlady · 24/06/2010 10:48

Alright, one more post. I have tried to upload a photo from my phone of what I think is the positive test. Do people agree? (Not sure this link will work.)

takethatlady · 24/06/2010 10:53

Sorry i786.photobucket.com/albums/yy150/cashorcheque/positivepregnancytest.jpg

frakkit · 24/06/2010 11:18

Fingers crossed for you takethat

We have my mother staying with us when I'm due to test next. Am not entirely sure I can cope with that so I have lots of sympathy for you gormers!

I really wish you'd asked for a pic, vallinna - did you get to see anything or did they do that annoying sonographer thing of hogging the screen?!

Hope you get seen soon miffles. It's crazy how long wait for fertility specialists are.

vallinnapod · 24/06/2010 11:51

frakkit - nothing I could make out. Is that good or bad?!

Oh and a whacking great black space that I assumed was my empty uterus

takethatlady · 24/06/2010 16:39

Went to the docs, took my positive test with me. She agreed it looked like a faint positive and was scratching her head at the missed period, etc. Have to have a blood test tomorrow, results the same day. She thinks either an early mc (so early it doesn't really count) or early conception. Fed up of waiting!

HarderToKidnap · 24/06/2010 16:56

Can I join? Had my Mirena removed last Wednesday (as I think a couple of others have on this thread). RTOD arrived on Friday, which I am counting as CD1. "Official" TTC begins September 1st but DH has not bought home any condoms and we have our first shag tonight - I think he might be planning to pull out (sorry, way way TMI), although I have explained to him this is not by any means contraception!!

Ideally I would like to conceive in November - want to lose a bit of weight first, I'm not HUGE but want my BMI to be below 25, an would love a July baby!!

So, considering I am not TTC this month, am I allowed to use an OPK? I just can't believe that after 14 years suppressing ovulation (I was 14 when I went on the Pill and had only had three periods!) my body will now ovulate to order. It almost feels a bit selfish and spolied to expect that it will, like my egg is a gift from my ovary I have been snubbing for 14 years and now I want it!! Very stupid. So I sort of wanted to OPK this month to see if I am ovulating. That is pathetic, isnt it?

cowboylover · 24/06/2010 19:54

Hope you get your answers soon takethat! Let us know x

Welcome Harder! (love the name!)

Hard to talk TTC without being TMI sometimes. Im glad its just not me trying to be so perticular and robotic even about conception and birth days ect as I have now kinda sold myself on a september or october baby so may have to hold off for a bit longer but dont want it not to work to roll over in to a january or februaury baby as we have to many of those in the family already!

Whats an OPK?

HarderToKidnap · 24/06/2010 20:03

Ovulation predictor kit - basically just before you ovulate you get a surge of a particular hormone and you can pee on this stick which tells you whether or not you got the surge (and will therefore ovulate).

takethatlady · 24/06/2010 20:06

Hello Harder [waves and feels an imaginary pregnancy twinge]. Aren't we all getting serious on this thread?! We need to lighten up, I think, what with all these doctor's appointments and sneaky OPKs!

So I'll tell you my only symptom (except for dizziness and tiredness, which could be from the JSing)... I am getting stomach cramps like bad period pains after the big O ... yep, and I told the doctor, who looked even more than me as I said it. If that's not a pregnancy symptom then I've got a JS problem!

HarderToKidnap · 24/06/2010 21:21

See, I would agree if I was using OPKs and TTC - but as I'm NOT TTC, just allowing my body to get back to normal and being curious, surely, surely one little OPK is OK?

looks desparately around for loophole

frakkit · 25/06/2010 05:55

No. No loopholes. No OPKs and no acronyms!!!!

Seriously stress is the enemy of conception and stressing about conceiving is therefore completely illogical, as is using one of those kit thingys in the first month. At least give it one cycle - your body is a pretty amazing thing and it will bounce back.

Welcome, harder.

Takethat - well at least the doctor is also confused! Fingers crossed for it being a pregnancy but that will screw with your dates based on your last period, won't it?

Vallinna - if it's bad they hide the screen. If you're fine then they don't care and even let you look!

takethatlady · 25/06/2010 07:24

Hey frakkit, yeah it'll mess with my dates but I think I may have ovulated on 15th June - so either way it would either be too early to test or too early to get AF. As a late period is really a late ovulation, it would make some kind of sense ...

Have another BFP this morning. After 5 mins it was negative, then I knocked the wick off the cellulose strip by mistake and there was a line there where the dye had pooled. I know from peeonastick.com that this is negative, but then that line travelled up the test area and has remained pink only on the test line. My DH did a test (I'm just using up tests on a whim now!) and we did the same thing, and the line travelled up and the whole thing turned white again straight away.

I am finding new and weird ways of getting BFPs, at least ...

takethatlady · 25/06/2010 09:43

Just did a First Response. Unequivocally BFN. Have to wait a week for blood test results. Hopefully I'll know by then.

Am resigned to a) not being pregnant and b) not being able to use early tests because I have an uncanny knack of either misinterpreting or misusing them, or something, or of getting false BFPs. Blocking out the hope that I just have very low HCG levels ... [puts hands over ears and yells 'la la la' at top of lungs]

Good one, frakkit, keeping both me and Harder in line! We can't lose the essence of this thread!

I'm going out for my birthday tomorrow. Don't know whether to drink or not. If only AF could come, I could get soooo plastered I really think two bottles of wine and some vodka shots might make me feel better

But I'll probably be little miss misery guts on the pineapple juice...

loopeylu · 25/06/2010 10:33

Takethatlady - ditch the early pregnancy tests (like First Response). They mess with your mind! I got a couple of faint positives the first month of JSing (with intent!) and, having been as regular as clockwork, was then 3 days late. Dr said it was a super early miscarriage and that if it hadn't have been for the wretched first response test I wouldn't have been any the wiser. Second month of JSing I did a normal Boots test (having vowed never to use a hyper sensitive First Response style test again) when I was a day late - got a BFN so assumed I could sink a bottle of wine (which I duly did). Still no sign of my period 3 days later - did another test and BFP.

I say, have a drink, ditch any more tests and keep JSing..and forget super sensitive, cheapy tests. You might find out you're pregnant when you get the blood test result but at least you haven't gone insane in the meantime.

Go girl!

Willing all you girls on - keen for you to replicate this kind of attitude on a pregnancy thread soon! Haven't found a home there yet.

takethatlady · 25/06/2010 11:05

loopeylu you are so right! 44 days since last AF but I'm going to put it down to hormonal craziness, a cold, and spending too much mental energy on those darn tests! DH thinks I am absolutely crazy. He's wrong, obviously

Anyway, I'm going out tomorrow, and if I have a Pimms or five I'm not going to feel guilty about it If there is a little seed in there, it will probably enjoy the break from alcohol-free stressing ...

Thanks loopey. Lots of people have said similar things to me over the past couple of days (but lots have also been saying 'a line is a line' etc etc), but somehow you put it the right way at the right time. Bring on Pimm's o'clock, I say. It's much more reliable than those bloody test reaction times...

takethatlady · 25/06/2010 11:06

PS loopeylu, I'm really sorry to hear you had an early miscarriage like that. Sorry for being so self-centred in my last post. How's your pregnancy going?
