So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

hey cowboylover, im having the Mirena out Weds too! u trying for your first as I am? so nervous.excited.scared all at the same time! poor hubby is just mega excited! but then it is not him who has to worry about getting pregnant lol

cowboylover · 14/06/2010 23:37

Yes a first for me and think thats part of the worry! (I'm also a member on ditherers!)

I am scared/excited/worried/confused and no even pregnant yet! I would love it if someone could just tall me how long it will take so I dont have to worry when it will be as in an ideal world it wouldnt be until January but then I know it doesnt work like that and dont want to wait and realise its going it be longer ect.... any way off to bed so have more random baby dreams!

takethatlady · 15/06/2010 08:12

BFN And no AF

Did the Clearblue at about 7pm. Wasn't sure whether to believe it, so did two tests this morning - one a 10miu/ml test (just a strip), one the NHS midstream 20miu/ml that tricked me yesterday. No hint of a line on the 10miu test - but, guess what, another vanishing line on the NHS test. It appears straight away and remains there until about 7 minutes have gone by, then vanishes. I think these are just shoddy tests. I read online yesterday about a batch of First Response tests that did this.

I can cope with the BFN but not with the hide-and-seek BFP! Grrrr....

Well, I'm off out to get me some fuck-me shoes (already have about 20 pairs of them but you can't have enough), a new shag-cape and pants, a dildo-cam (just for fun) and some energy drinks pumped through my plumbing (ahem) so that if AF ever comes I can send the shag-o-meter off the scale!

Thanks for all your support yesterday ladies. What a day!

BrassicaBabe · 15/06/2010 08:12

takethat?! Any news?!

BrassicaBabe · 15/06/2010 08:16

crap, another cross post.

Sorry takethat you must be all over the place. I don't think all hope is lost this month yet. I hope you are bearing up. lol at dildo-cam "just for fun"

takethatlady · 15/06/2010 08:55

Thanks brassica. DH was sooo lovely yesterday, went and got me fish and chips (I am easily pleased) and said in all seriousness and with a little sigh, 'whatever you want to do to get pregnant I'll do it - charts, temperatures, anything - I'll even have sex with you twice a day if that's what it takes' - and then I saw him do a little secret grin to himself! Men! Everything's an opportunity! Anyway, glad he has the JS vibe too (though twice a day? I'm still tired out from hearing about that six-piece shag-a-thon someone had this week) and him and this bonkers thread cheered me up

Anyway, back to normal waiting for AF with a faint glimmer of hope. Lol at the rubber chicken milanomum. And I say, BACK AWAY FROM THE OPKs 30andmerkin! They won't do you any good They'll make you feel depressed when you can't shag and crazy when you can. Whereas fuck me shoes ... where can it go wrong?!

frakkit · 15/06/2010 09:19

Yes to fuck-me shoes, no to OPKs!

takethat what a rollercoaster.... Maybe this is the time for HCG blood test at the doc? Call them up and say 'I've done 2 types of test and one of them says I'm pregnant, the other doesn't, I'm confused'.

Get your DH to courier himself over to you brassica - or meet halfway and have a sexy night away!

vallinna I had a dildo cam scan when I was 18 and my periods disappeared for 6 months. It's not that bad (and weirdly fun to see yourself from the inside). I had an abdominal scan as well.

In other news I got a new job today! Not sure how that messes up the TTC plans as I start September - if this month was our month I'd be buggering off on maternity leave in March and my poor students would be screwed for their finals. This is just the kind of inconvenience my body needs!

takethatlady · 15/06/2010 09:27

frakkit are you a uni lecturer? Me too! I start a new job in September too ... I've already had my first year off on research leave so I don't know what they're going to say if I get pregnant - my oh-so-dastardly plan is to pretend it's a mishap [ hopes frakkit didn't just get a job at her uni, thus giving her blackmailing opportunities just a day into the job ...]

But anyway, a massive CONGRATULATIONS on the new job! I know how hard they are to come by so I hope you're going to celebrate hard! (and don't give up on ttc - accidents happen !)

BrassicaBabe · 15/06/2010 11:55

Good idea on the blood test for takethat frakkit.

Congratulations on the new job too!

My job is getting me down. I moved house when I met DH and now have a 2 hour each way commute. But I have to stay where I am because there is no industry of anywhere near me. And def nothing that matches current salary. On the good news front, the piece of work which would have meant staying away from home next week is likely to be pushed back for a week or two!

vallinnapod · 15/06/2010 11:58

frakkit - it will now forever be known as the dildo-cam scan. Loving it (the name, not so much the procedure!)

takethat I feel for you hun - it's bad enough a BFN but a BFN that is disguising itself as a BFP is not fair.

Remember all those many posts ago I said I wanted to beat thelady on another board who got her BFP on CD75. Well I lied. CD78 and fed up here!

frakkit · 15/06/2010 12:40

I am desperately trying to get into academia so this is a career starter, takethat. Don't worry, I'm not where you are (although I know there is someone on MN who knows people where I'm going to be so might have to namechange for these purposes )

Fuzzywood · 15/06/2010 13:53

takethat you must be confused, I definitely reckon that a call to the docs is in order considering they take your word for it if you tell them you're pregnant and don't do another test.
vanilla don't worry too much about the scan, I had one early on when pg with DD and they're not too bad. You have to ask for a picture though even if it's just to freak out the person doing the scan!

cowboylover · 15/06/2010 17:51

Good luck takethat!

My current role is a promotion secondment so ends when shes back from maternity so then I will be back where I was so a little sad and a little scary as I dont know what will happen then but in my industy thats constantly changing you never know. I want to be able to take a year off if I can but not sure as might miss out on something?

Anyone else feeling the same?
(now laughing at myself worrying how long I will take for maternity then not even expecting!)

BrassicaBabe · 15/06/2010 17:56

You never know cowboylover the woman in the substantive role my decide not to come back to work...

I know what you mean about worrying about work. I find myself thinking about the optimum time to be on mat leave based on a)returning f/t b) returning p/t c)being offered severance. It depends on how I feel on that particular day!

takethatlady · 15/06/2010 19:10

Well congrats anyway frakkit! You'll get there Thanks fuzzy. I really don't think I'm pregnant so I'm going to wait until the weekend. If still no period after that then I'll ring the docs. TMI, but I have so much EWCM today it's like I've blown my nose in my pants ....

Poor you brassica, and you vallinna. Looks like we're all a bit brassed off today. Is there any chance your DH could get work nearer yours? Yippee, anyway, for the piece of work getting pushed back. They really should build fertile windows into leave entitlement. Don't they know we're trying to shag?! vallinna, I bet the docs will sort you right out and you'll be up the duff before you know it. Hang on in there!

Yep, cowboy, constantly doing mental calculations about what day/month/year is best for having maternity leave. After ages of thinking I usually end up with nothing more helpful than 'fuck it, I'm sure I'll sort it out when it comes to it'. I'm sure this is not right!

alien82 · 15/06/2010 19:39

hey cowboylover
YEp I am feeling exactly the same! I am currently covering a maternity post at a school and need to complete two more terms (newly qualified teacher) before I am full qualified. Ideally I wouldn't fall preggers for a while but my luck it will be straight away, but if I leave it then I may take years. its such a tricky situation, but we just thought go for it and see what happens I ll just have to sort the job situation out nearer the time!

Tomorrow is my dreaded/excited/nervous appointment time!!

almostknockedupgirl · 15/06/2010 21:58

Cowboylover after 2 years of planning for 'the best time' to get knocked up workwise, and always having to delay it for one reason or another, I've said fuck it, thrown my hands in the air and am just going for it. I realised I'd be playing a waiting game for the next 10 years easily, and I'm certain my ovaries won't oblige.

Good luck to you and alien tomorrow! Come join me in my liberated mirena-free state!

And, erm, this may be TMI, but I've suddenly that certain, rather more penetrative positions, are tons more enjoyable without the mirena. I didn't even realise I was feeling it in there, but it was making sex less comfortable. So double-bonanza now that it's gone!

Congrats on the job frakkit!

(And I've still secretly got my fingers crossed for you takethat.)

almostknockedupgirl · 15/06/2010 22:01

Maybe that should have read 'thrown my legs in the air'... Anywho...

cowboylover · 15/06/2010 22:09

Ohh I cant wait to get it out tomorrow now as (as you put it) im sure there are positions I used to enjoy before than now make me end up with cramps so another reason to look forward to taking it out....

Get those legs up my newly liberated ladies x LOL!

fyimate · 16/06/2010 08:48

Oo I have DD, (4yo) and really would like another, so I've dropped the pill and DP thought I'd be preggers in minutes ;)
But now on my second period and really trying not to obsess over it all! My DP said his "soldiers will make it happen when they're ready"
But have already agreed with DP that the sex has been great! So trying not to count my most fetile days and mark them on the calendar!

takethatlady · 16/06/2010 09:22

Nope, no news from me. Still no AF and BFN again this morning. I obviously ovulated late or I'd have AF by now, so I suppose it may still be too early to get a BFP. I'm sure I had a faulty batch of tests. Threw my legs in the air last night though .

vallinnapod · 16/06/2010 13:36

Happy de-coiling ladies

Interesting to hear how it affects certain positions...having already decided I am not going anywhere near the pill now until I am certain I am done with the babies I am interested in what else is out there!

takethatlady · 16/06/2010 16:43

Yeah, not too happy about the coil making some sex positions crappy. I've told my DH after we're done making babies he should have the snip. He says no, but I say I took the pill for eleven years and I'll have probably been cut to shreds giving birth to his babies, so by then it'll be his turn to face the scissors! I guess you can't force a man to part with his balls though, so we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it

vallinnapod · 16/06/2010 16:46

I hear babies themselves are pretty good contraception!

frakkit · 16/06/2010 17:43

I told DH either he gets the snip or I get my tubes tied once we're done. Except I keep wavering on how many I want! Getting ahead of ourselves though given that we've not managed to conceive one yet.

takethat I reckon you've ovulated really late, maybe even yesterday? Throw your legs in the air, girl!
