So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

OP posts:
takingtheplunge · 19/06/2010 13:44

What's JS mean?

That's what I meant, frakkit about the tests. I think if you test quite early the line can be faint.

I have funny pains like AF pains but only in the middle of my cycle. Was wondering if it's ovulation pains but I don't have any of the egg white mucus. TMI for only my thrid post on this thread perhaps?

cowboylover · 19/06/2010 13:51

No ur good Taking, dont think u can talk about TTC without being at least a little TMI!

JS = Just Shagging!

I have only just had my coil out so cant help on the ovulating front as I cant remember the last time I did but im sure someone on here can, Good luck x

alien82 · 19/06/2010 14:00

hey cowboylover
how is your body reacting to now being coil free?!
I have all the symptoms for ERTD already!
x

cowboylover · 19/06/2010 14:39

Umm its strange, as I didnt realise I could feel it as much as I did until I had it taken out as I feel so much better!

I was feel okon the day, it did hurt being taken out as it took a while to get taken out, sore that night but the day after I felt very faint all day so had to take the day off work.

Im feeling good now so I cant wait to get my DH home from work and really try it out

almostknockedupgirl · 20/06/2010 12:10

Ooh knittakid congrats! How's the line this morning? Hopefully a wee bit stronger?

and takethatlady, I'm not in possesion of the just shagging rule book, but I've got my wet fish at the ready... I suppose the BBT doesn't in itself violate any of the just shagging codes of practice provided you don't restrict the shagging only to when it tells you to? And bless you, your mom sounds like quite the challenge to manage!

gormers nights are the biggest shag buzz kill ever, no? But I'm sure creative shaggers like ourselves can work out ways to get around (and over and under) the issue.

takingtheplunge some women do get lower abdominal pains for a few hours when they ovulate, so that might well be it. I know I always get quite a marked one in my right side. The first time I had it a teenager they thought it was appendicitis! Thankfully, it was just one of my eggs busting out of my ovaries.

By the way, is there a graduates arm for this thread? You know, for ladies who are Just Pregnant, and trying to maintain a sane attitude to being knocked up as well? Where does everyone go from here once they're BFP'd up?

As for me, the man is off nights, I've got my Brazilian done, and some new stockings in, and I am looking forward to a wonderful couple of weeks of nights in.

Hope everyone else is throwing their legs up this weekend!

milanomum · 20/06/2010 13:52

knittakid congrats!
takethat what a rollercoaster for you... I've never heard of teaser tests! pain in the arse!

Period is due mid-next week and I WILL NOT test until I'm late this month...maybe. I've been having strange light crampy feelings over the past few days which means
a) i'm pregnant
b) I'm about to get my period
c) I'm imagining symptoms
(choose any of the above)
I hate this wait, but I am determined to remain a pessimist so I won't be too disappointed when I'm not up the duff this month... sigh

Please, please someone start a thread with sane (ppppfffftttt!) people on it. This thread rocks so you can't all just feck off to normality afterwards...

BrassicaBabe · 20/06/2010 16:45

Hiya

Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. Work gets in the way of the important job of surfing at the moment!

Congrats knittakid and welcome newbies.

I don't think you're mad takethat for buying a BBT. As long as you control it, rather than it controls you. If your cycle is all over the place it might help you feel less metal if you know what's going on.

Loving the idea of a graduate thread almost and milano

I'm on CD10 now so I'll soon be throwing my legs up. ( watching DH snore and dribble from the sofa )

How do you guys deal with DP/H's during The Window? Do you tell him and risk him feeling the pressure or not tell him and risk him not responding to your advances?

cowboylover · 20/06/2010 16:54

My DH is blissfully unaware of THE WINDOW, He just thinks of it as that time when I can get enough of him!! Have planned it with my SIL that her DH knows the same so they just think they are lucky.
LOL But is works for him and I think if I told him why or the plan I think it would put him off and make him rebel with his inner child saying im not going to do it just because...

vallinnapod · 20/06/2010 18:07

I think taking your temp is fine....I have been for my never-ending-cycle! I find mine truly hilarious as my only temp spikes have been due to massive hangovers..oppsy!!

My hubby has become humorous about it. We have a 'temp-off' some mornings to see who is hotter! Don't think he's ovulated yet though

Got a nice text form the NHS this morning reminding me I have my scan on Weds - bring on the dildo-cam!

takethatlady · 21/06/2010 08:13

Thanks gormers, vallinna, brassica and everybody! Lol vallinna at the temp-off! Might bring that into our house too And lol at your hangovers! I'll be joining you there too, I'm sure

Great idea about a graduate thread! This really is the only ttc thread I can go on. I tried to go on first time frolickers for a bit, but it just wasn't EWCM, BBT, OPK, WTF?! As I type that I see I've already learned to track the first two since I've been here (whoops!), but the main thing is clearly the WTF! The cocktail of lots of Fing and lots of WTFing on here is just right for me!

DH has had the runs since Wednesday (TMI) so he's at the doctor now. So that's another one for the conspiracy theory, gormers! If we've got a Window it appears to be triple-glazed at the moment. Nothing's getting through there!

vallinnapod · 21/06/2010 19:57

Afternoon ladies. So got my blood test results back and they are all normal. I cannot tell how disproportionately upset I was - to be healthy. It's because now it means it's something else causing my periods to vanish

Spoke to the doc on the phone who said they'd obviously know more after my scan on Wednesday.

It seems he is expecting polycystic ovaries. In any case it looks like a gynae referral.

Anyone else got any experience with polycystic ovaries? I have no other symptoms you'd associate with PCOS. No hairiness (bar my hobbit feet ), average weight etc...

OK, OK...jumping the gun a bit here Just a horrible "GRRAHHHRRGGHHH" day of no answers!

takethatlady · 22/06/2010 09:15

Oh vallinna that's good and bad news all in one go, isn't it? I would have felt exactly the same. Especially as you've been waiting so long to hear - you just want something definite.

On the upside, PCOS is relatively common and relatively easy to treat. A good friend of mine is 7 months pregnant with her first baby and she has PCOS (and no other symptoms except irregular periods). I think it took her around six months to conceive (including a miscarriage at ten weeks). I don't know all the ins and outs of it - but what I do know is, though it is different for every woman, it certainly doesn't mean you're not going to be able to get pregnant. In fact, the doctors have plenty of things they can do to sort it out. So try not to worry? (easier said than done, I know).

Day 41 for me. Have run out of tests . No sign of AF. I might be joining you at the doctor's surgery soon ...

vallinnapod · 22/06/2010 14:25

Thanks takethat. I'm a bit of a control freak and planner so having my body take both of these out of my control is driving me nuts! My DH actually had the balls to say that the lack of control was good practice for when we have kids (only by necessity are his said balls still attached to his body!)

takethatlady · 22/06/2010 15:13

Ha ha! I'm so with you on the control freakery. DH is going on a school trip to China on 9th July. He's not a school boy, he's a teacher . But I'm starting to think AF will time itself just so that the trip covers our entire fertile window. It's day 41 now. I am starting to get . In fact, if you could superimpose over , to produce a screaming hormonal bitch, that would be me . I haven't let it out yet, but when I do ....

Still, I advise that you stay away from your DH's balls. But only because you still need them

milanomum · 22/06/2010 19:38

hahaha at screaming hormonal bitch 'smiley' - wouldn't that get used a LOT!?

I don't tell dh about the window - i don't think he knows enough about the reproductive cycle to 'get' it and it keeps the pressure off. I think I might tell him more if time passes and still no baby, we'll see.

V it's good news that it's a gynae referral - surely that means getting some specific answers and they'll certainly be looking in the right place for them ;)

BrassicaBabe · 22/06/2010 19:38
takethatlady · 22/06/2010 19:55

Ooh good luck in The Window brassica. Mine has been bricked up, so it's nice to hear yours is still working and open! Hope it's your month

BrassicaBabe · 22/06/2010 21:16

Maybe my window is painted shut...longing to go to bed early for a sleep and DH still out working Maybe I could just tie my legs in the air rather than throwing them there?

Heavens, there's crap all on telly this evening!

takethatlady · 22/06/2010 21:27

Bad TV was sent by God to help us shag

Perhaps get your DH to hold your legs in position?!

Miffles · 22/06/2010 21:34

Vallinna fret not pretty lady ...PCOS is really not the end of the world. So you have an ultrasound scan on Wed - then you're about a week or two behind me in the process! I got my diagnosis of PCOS then...but tbh suspected it already as my mum (who has 3 DD) and my sister (pg with her 2nd dc) both have PCOS. For me, my periods are irregular, and since I came off the pill i have put on about a stone. I'm still not overwieght (well, maybe a few pounds now ) and not mega hairy - always had to pluck and wax a bit, but you'd never know if i didn't say!! But PCOS is to do with hormones and internal workings and things. We keep good company with Posh and Jules Oliver, apparently!

Anyway, you'll hopefully get your referral to a fertility specialist soon (although once my referral is done it is an 18 week wait til the appt). Clomid is a drug commonly given to make you ovulate. They give it to you on specific days of your cycle, so if you don't have a cycle, they can give you another drug (called Provera, I think) to give you a bleed. All a bit complicato, but encouraging that there are things that can be done.

frakkit · 22/06/2010 21:42

Oh bugger Vallinna - I was really hoping that the tests would get some answers for you.

Brassica, despair not, your DH will soon be home and then you can drift off to sleep together in post-coital bliss

takethat - I think weird cycles are part and parcel of TTCing but seeing the doctor might not be a bad idea

Good luck, miffles! It's really encouraging to hear success stories about PCOS as I apparently have it mildly. No other symptoms though...

takethatlady · 23/06/2010 00:18

Ooh miffles I have put on half a stone in the 73 days I've been off the pill - despite eating barely anything but Gillian McKeith recipes ... do other people put on weight? I can only find stuff about people putting on weight when they go on it (which I did too, but I was 16, so it might just have been that I got hips and boobs).

vallinnapod · 23/06/2010 11:40

Thanks ladies! I have dildo-cam this afternoon, where they give me no results (arses) as they send them to the docs to give to me...! 18 week wait huh?? Any idea whether private healthcare covers this? Not any sort of fertility treatment but this being a period issue??

I have actually put on about half a stone since coming of the pill but don't know whether it is related or a food thing

BrassicaBabe · 23/06/2010 11:59

Nope frakkit, fell asleep!

vallinna 18 week wait?! WTF?! Are you sure? That's utter madness. I don't think private medical covers this kind of thing though. Fingers crossed when you get there this afternoon you find you've been misinformed.

I've put half a stone on in the last 2 weeks working away. Nothing to do with the pill. More to do with bacon butties, indian food and wine! So far today I've just had a poached egg. Back on the wagon for now...

I reckon I might actually lose weight if I get BFP due to the calories I'd save from not drinking alcohol.

I agree with vallinna too takethat, time for a docs appt for long cycles.

I've got a random day off today and I've been sorted a years worth of paper work and household filing. Why is it it looks worse 3 hours in than when I started?! Maybe because I'm surfing and watching telly..

Fingers crossed for dildo-cam vallinna

vallinnapod · 23/06/2010 17:15

Well all scanned. Really wanted to do you ladies proud and ask for a picture but the sonographer didn't have great English. My attempts a jokey small talk had fallen flat, I thought I may be referred for some sort of psychiatric help had she really thought I wanted a pic! Have to go to docs to get results next week.

18 weeks is the wait Miffles has been given. will give serious thought to the expense of going private if I have a similar time frame bit of a dangerous, never ending road to go down!
