So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

Hi
Can I hang out too? Stopped pill last Friday, not had a period in years. So now just waiting for AF to return. There is time to obsess, but hoping that's a long way off...
(Do have some digital CB tests in the car, but that's another story! ;-) )

Hi fellow newbies!
Sounds like we're at exactly the same stage Brassica.
LittleB, I think the 'BF' stands for 'big fat'

LittleB · 26/02/2010 12:55

Thanks, no wonder I couldn't guess it then! Well had another 'big fat negative' but no sign of AF even though its due, so will just have to have a large glass (or two) of wine later and some more unproductive but fun shagging. Have decided when I get AF will just have to treat myself with all those things we're not allowed if pg, so looking forward to lashings of creamy blue cheese, fresh crab and dyeing my hair !

Florin · 27/02/2010 13:15

Think I might join you. Was on waiting to ttc but came off the pill at end of december. Now using condoms but not everytime. Think dh too scared to admit we are trying to conceive so now trying for a happy "accident"

BrassicaBabe · 27/02/2010 16:11

I've been taking Agnus Cactus having read about it here. Although they are the size of horse pills! Supposed to regulate your cycle and bring periods back from the brink after pill taking absence! We'll see. It's only been a week - patience isn't my strong point!

30andLurking · 27/02/2010 17:44

Just bought some his'n'hers vitamins... felt like we were doing something illegal and CONVINCED we were going to bump into someone we knew in the chemist!! This is stressful stuff !

BrassicaBabe · 27/02/2010 20:07

30 ...then wanting to leave folic acid out so I don't forget to take it, but hide it so no-one sees it...
BB

pipistrello · 27/02/2010 21:52

Oh thank God. I was far too intimidated by the acronyms and cycle-awareness to post anywhere else, but can I join you? Have been trying since Christmas, but only in the form of the odd half-arsed condom-free shag every so often.

And occasional folic acid, when I haven't forgotten where i hid it - I feel your pain, bb!

Florin · 28/02/2010 16:42

pipistrello you seem to be in the same situation as us. I call it trying for an accident! We (especially after a couple of glasses of wine!) don't use condoms every so often. Dh wants kids but is a bit scared and I am desperate to get pregnant!

frakkinaround · 28/02/2010 17:54

Lol we're also trying for an accident.

Major step forwards today - DH actually wants kids SOON!

pipistrello · 28/02/2010 18:32

Wow, frakkin, sounds good! So are you going to carry on with the accident allowing, or move up to actually trying trying?

pipoca · 28/02/2010 19:32

Hello ladies,
I've been on the waiting to ttc thread but have been a bit naughty recently so thought I'd saunter over here. Got a bit carried away and seeing as there are only 2 condoms left in the packet, I think we've moved on to Not Preventing Pregnancy. It's a month or two earlier than planned but I figure it'll take a few months or so at least. (Considering we were at it like rabbits when ttc DS and still didn't get pregnant immediately-this time don't have huge amounts of sex what with a toddler to look after). DS is 23 months so we're looking at a 2.8 yr gap at the very least.

I wonder what the chances are for this month? If you've already OV'd is it def not poss? Not that I know when I OV'd, just that it's now quite late in my cycle.

frakkinaround · 01/03/2010 05:53

As far as I understand it's def not poss if you've ovulated because there's no egg to be fertilised and they only 'live' for about 24 hours, but hey, if you don't know whether you've ovulated or not then it doesn't matter.

We're still going for accident allowing because every so often we get scared - old habits die hard!

BrassicaBabe · 01/03/2010 19:06

I've set a reminder on my phone for 7pm each evening to remember the whole folic acid thing!

Impatient for the first time in my life for my period! Who knows how long it'll take to return post pill-popping.

30andLurking · 01/03/2010 19:11

Now there's an idea BB! Mine say take 'with main meal'..., and they're about the size of something used to drug an elephant, so that's discreet then!

Florin · 01/03/2010 19:19

I took my first folic acid pill yesterday no what u mean about the size they are massive! Shoved them in a drawer I the dining room so I can try and remember to have them with my dinner each night.

pipistrello · 02/03/2010 20:15

I didn't even read the instructions on mine. I've just been having them with wAter. I think it's clear I really am not up to the detailed ovulation mucus period charting sort of thing.

Katkin1979 · 02/03/2010 21:24

Hi all, can I join too? Been ttc for 2 months now, no joy so far but we'll keep trying. I've been trying to avoid the internet for fear it will turn me crazy (I think I might be a hypochondriac and was absolutely convinced I was no longer ovulating/having regular periods after the first negative test despite all evidence to the contrary), but have given in to mumsnet and am glad to find a non-scary thread to log my first post!

Anyone else here over 30? I turned 31 last weekend. Obviously fairly normal nowadays but I think the official medical term for a pregnant woman that old is 'geriatric'... Tempted to start wearing baggy stockings and hitting teenage boys with my handbag.

Folic acid lives next to the Weetabix in my house.

30andLurking · 02/03/2010 23:43

Hi Katkin

MN is my guilty internet secret. Try and hide it from DH, but I think he's busted me... and expect my name to be changing soon... can't stay 30 forever! Judging from this forum though, we're really no that old, so don't worry about taht yet!

pipistrello · 03/03/2010 08:26

I'm 32 in a few months and my default response to a late period is usually early menopause, rather than, you know, actually being pregnant.

BrassicaBabe · 03/03/2010 09:37

You wee whipper-snappers! I'm nearly 37! Am clearly geriatric!

My folic acid tabs are tiny. It's the angus cactus ones that are like horse pills.

Def keeping MN as a secret. DH would think I was mad!

PrivetDancer · 03/03/2010 13:38

I'm planning to test on sunday (night out on saturday, so not testing before that )
was convinced I was pg the other day as i felt on verge of tears all day for no apparent reason, but more rational now and no inkling whatsoever really. Seems highly unlikely tbh, but I have missed p'ing on sticks, so looking forward even to getting a bfn.

I'm 34 btw

Florin · 03/03/2010 13:59

I couldn't resist first response are buy one get one free in boots-had to get some. Af not due till Friday 12th though so going to try hold out until then. It's going to be hard!

PrivetDancer · 03/03/2010 14:59

I got 10 for £2.50 from ebay
hoping not to get suckered in by expensive bits of plastic this time around!

BrassicaBabe · 03/03/2010 15:08

So, who is going to be the first one to crack and talk about EWCM or buy ov-predictor kits?!

I've already got a preg test in the car hiding. (Had a mad, mad moment a couple of months ago when I convinced myself I had morning sickness despite being on the pill. I found a BOGOF deal!)

Still hanging in for AF to return....

Fingers crossed for Florin though.
