Hi all, old and new, this is the thread where all moaning, pieces of tmi, discussions and virtual cups of tea and biscuits come together to keep us sane .. or at the least insane together!

OP posts:
yogamat · 04/02/2010 16:31

why oh why did I think it would be a good idea to do a pregnancy test? For some crazy reason I thought it would come up negative since I feel that my bleeding is easing off a bit.
Of course it was a v v strong positive.
Oh I could just scream. I thought I was dealing with this OK and being all positive about trying again but I'm really just feeling so utterly crap.
I also threw out the other positive tests I had from a few weeks ago.
It's so sad that when I first did them I was so thrilled and couldn't bare to part with them but now that seems so ridiculous.
I am just so broken hearted.
I'm sorry for my rant and for not taking time to acknowlegde all your posts - I just have to get this out and writing it down seems to help.
Does anyone know when I might get a negative test?
I've been trying to be so strong but it's impossible isn't it?

barrenbrook · 04/02/2010 17:07

just1moreplease welcome. Sorry to hear about you having 4 m/c, I've only had one and that was tough so can only begin how tough it has been for you. There are lots of lovely ladies on here that have had the same experience as you and I am sure you will find comfort and hand holding from us all.

yogamat honey, so sorry you are feeling crappy. Excuse my ignorance but did you have it confirmed that you have mc with a scan or something? Is there any possibility that you could still be pregnant? Don't want to build your hopes up, I'm no expert but when I had my mc (6 weeks) I was still showing positive prior to going in for a scan, they then confirmed it. I would suggest that as you are still bleeding then you still probably have levels high enough to show a positive test, these will naturally drop as each day passes. It took me about 14 or so days of bleeding (post ERPC) before things returned to normal. I don't know if any of that babble has helped in the slightest!

louisesh · 04/02/2010 17:16

Hi YOGAMAT with my first MMC it took 4 weeks to get a bfn [that was at 12 weeks] with medical management. With my 2 nd MC it took 2 weeks [that was at 8 weeks ]and i had an erpc.Depends on far along you were. With my CP only took 1 week .Its a horrible time isn t it?
[although i found it got easier by my 3rd time!!!] Take care of yourself, treat yourself to lots of nice "things" if possible a break away or meal out something for you to look foreward to.Of course RANT away also.[like you i chucked all my tests out just seemed like a waste of time]

Hi JUST1MOREPLEASE sorry.I ve had 2 MCS and 1 CP soo can totally empathise with you X

Hi to everyone else X

just1moreplease · 04/02/2010 17:21

thanks barrenbrook

yogamat it is quite common to get positve tests for a while after mc. with my 3rd i was still getting + 2-3 weeks after. my epu advises testing again after 2 weeks and if still + to go back for scan because of the chance of 'retained products' (god, i hate that phrase)not sure how long ago you mc, hope you start feeelin a bit better soon.

Unbuffy · 04/02/2010 17:31

Anybody got any ideas where online i can get some semi-cheepies? We live in the middle of nowhere and only Tesco's stock 'em and they've run out (nappies can be fun when they run out of those...) Not wanting to become a poas addict as was when wanting to get pg before m/c - much more nervous now - but need to test to get a bfn first. have many many sympathies yogamat, if I had any, i'd be testnig too.

Unbuffy · 04/02/2010 17:41

That was probably a bit of an insensitve post. sorry everybody, sorry yogamat. Just got to doin the dreading thing...

yogamat · 04/02/2010 19:43

thank you all for your support. I really really appreciate it.
I feel I shouldn't be complaining this much as I have a beautiful dc already who is really keeping me going.
But even though I have a child I still really feel the loss of this one.
I so feel for those who have more than one mc too - how you keep it together amazes me.
Being on here really helps us all I suppose.
thanks again ladies

thefatladyscreams · 04/02/2010 19:44

Hi everyone

Oh yogamat - scream away. It's a totallly shit time. I found that I was up and down a lot - I guess that's part of the healing process but it still swipes you sidesways when you feel so bad again. I got a BFN a week after the bleeding finished but not sure what is normal.

Just1oneplease - welcome. So sorry to hear about your losses but you have found a great bunch of ladies here.

Goodluckbear - at your hunky young doc! I wonder if it's caused by your hormones settling back down again? Slightly different subject, but I had real problems losing weight after my m/c. I'd lost some naturally through healthy eating whilst pregnant. After the m/c I went on a strict diet - and the scales refused to budge at all . I googled and found quite a few other people had experienced that so I put it down to hormones....

barrenbrook - iced gems, that takes you back. Good luck to you both on Monday.

Unbuffy - welcome (impressed at your wading through all this volume). This is a great place to get a plaster put on your scab or pick away at it - whatever you need. at your friend's introduction. Must have been awful finding out at 14 weeks. Not an insensitive question about cheapies. I got 25 InstAlerts (off Amazon I think) for £3.99. I had got fed up wasting £££ on Clearblue digitals just to see the words "Not Pregnant". Mind you, I don't think they are that sensitive as I got BFNs on them on days 29 and 30 (usually 28 day cycle) before finally getting a BFP on day 31.

There are a lot of new people on here going through that horrrible immediate post m/c pain. I've been reflecting and it was only recently that I emotionally accepted that there was nothing I could have done to prevent the m/c. Rationally I always knew that, but when it finally sank in emotionally it really helped. Sorry for the ramble but I just wish I could say something to help you all feel better. xxx

Littlemiss - will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Sunburntats - feel your frustration. Any news?

VivC - the first month with the monitor can be a bit vague as it gets to know you. I didn't ovulate the first month and hence got 18 bloody Highs in a row and no Peak. DH was exhausted!

Louisesh - have a great weekend. Does your sister know you're pregnant or will she be looking at your orange juice suspiciously? Reading your posts got me POAS this morning - the madness is contagious! Still getting wobbly emotionally but trying to keep busy (and not obsessively surfing here).

Hopefully - I'm not sure whether an increase in post m/c fertility has ever been proven. So don't feel you are missing out on it. Still got my fingers crossed for you until AF actually appears.

underneaththestream - I was pretty wiped out for the next 2 weeks or so but it's hard to know what is hormone related and what's just feeling blue at times. Take it easy.

WestYorkshireGirl - I'm afraid it appears when it appears. Commonly it's late but in my case AF actually arrived 3 days early. PITA waiting....

meita - seeing you get to your scan fine is an inspiration. I'm guessing you slept for 24 hours solid afterwards in relief .

And cheepz - last but never least my dear! Good news re the valuations - but think about the nightmare of keeping the house clean for all those viewings! Hummm - maybe that says more about me than you

Sorry if I've left anyone out - love to you all.

UnderneathTheStream · 04/02/2010 19:53

Thank-you

louisesh · 04/02/2010 20:57

TFLS Yes i ve told my sister due to not being able to drink mmmm poor me!!!!! Know exactely what you mean about "wobbly" moments!!!

Have a lovely weekend everyone X

Hopefully · 04/02/2010 21:33

Thanks for the encouragement guys, you're great! Bought a couple of Boots cheapo tests today, because, you know, I'm a POAS addict . I know full well I'll continue to POAS every day until AF comes, which makes me astonishingly tragic.

Yogamat poor you. Hope you're feeling OK this evening.

Unbuffy well done on being so strong.

Re: the dire rear after MC, I had it, despite not having an ERPC/any antibiotics. It's only 4 weeks later that my poor tummy is finally getting back to normal. I always get a dodgy gut during AF too, so I obviously have a fairly sensitive gut that feels the need to get in on the hormone action! On the bright side, have lost another couple of pounds, am firmly below pre-preg weight (before DS).

Watching crazy show on C4 about the women desperate for a daughter. They are all a teeny bit mad I think.

Hopefully · 05/02/2010 08:54

Morning!

Shocker - another BFN this morning. Not entirely sure why I keep testing. I honestly haven't even contemplated not testing, even though I know the chances are slim in the extreme. AF is officially now due, just want it to appear so I can crack on with next month now.

thefatladyscreams · 05/02/2010 09:14

Hopefully - you should at least get extra marks for consistency!

Cheepz · 05/02/2010 09:52

tfls did you make a list?????? how did you manage to remember all that?? did you not note the OCD references my house is ridiculously tidy - and cleaner comes once a week as I work full time and have to have the house be clean ..

sorry hopefully but chuckled after reading you thursday night / friday morning, can so relate at the self frustration! - you maybe a bigger POAS addict than Louisesh !!!!!

yoga you sound to be in the worst place, it can be dark days at this point and one day after the next and things don't change fast enough and you feel in limbo. I also thank goodness for DS but at the same time hate that his potential siblings never made it. Its imposssible not to personalise. Just manage each day, know you have to work through this part to get to the next part (which is not much better but is not quite so bad!)

unbuffy I got my cheapies on Amazon too, £399ish) they are just the strips which is pretty basic but they are suposed to be 10uils or whatever they are

justonemore welcome - theres lots of support here, some of us have been here for ages ! and at the moment there are quite a few people who are relatively newly arrived so people at all stages of the process of dealing with it so lots of experience to lean on. Although with 4mc for you, you must have quite alot of experience in dealing with it yourself. xx

I was away yesterday so everything on previous page I read but am not going to be able to comment on - I have not made a list on the way through!!!

love to all

Morning all

Hi justonemore - glad you found us here.

So, we were over at my in-laws house last night as FIL found out on Wednesday that he has a serious and incurable illness. The whole family were there to make sure he's okay and to give him support etc. Anyway, over dinner, my SIL asked me how I was and 'if I had any news' - I asked what she meant and she pointed to my stomach.

I babbled something about 'Oh no, I'm not' and joked that we thought I was earlier on in the week but am categorically not, but actually, the more I think about it, the more I think 'bloody hell love, you could have had some more tact.'

It's exactly three months to the day that we lost Gracie, and while all know DP and I are trying again, I don't want people in 'real life' to know. I dunno - I know it's completely hypocritical of me, but even though it's not too early for us to TTC again, it IS too early for other people to start asking me if I'm pregnant, IYSWIM? It's only been 12 weeks FFS.

Sorry rant over.

thefatlaady - that's interesting re. the fertility monitor, thank you. I'm hoping that last month was the crazy month and things will be back to a lovely normal 27 day ovulation-tastic cycle this month...

xxx

boodleboot · 05/02/2010 10:21

MrsR has been a bit quiet....let us know all is well will you love?

Goodluckbear · 05/02/2010 10:39

Viv - I had a conversation about that scenario with a friend of mine, I agree that it's very different being able to tell you guys I want to TTC compared to saying it in RL - I haven't told anyone in RL. Surprised at your SIL, her comments seem quite out of place - I'd have had a bright red face if anyone said that to me right now. [red/sad emoticon face]

Sorry to hear about your FIL too, must be a difficult time for all your family.

Cheepz - we've got viewings on our flat this weekend - it's super spotless!! The pressure is immense. Seems quite poignant as the whole buying a house thing was for a family, but we're keeping in a positive frame of mind - in a "if you build it, they will come" (or buy it, rather, we're not building a house like).

Hopefully - I caved too, POAS last night, obviously BFN don't know what I was thinking. Gah, I need that AF to put me out of my misery!! There was an offer on in Superdrug on their own brand sticks, I bought a couple of packs and hid them under the bed - the offer isn't on anymore so I figure that it was good sense to buy them anyway and not a sign of my descent into addiction .

Big wave to everyone - bring on the weekend!

(MrsR - are you there? Hope all is well)

xxxxxxxx

Hi Everyone

Feeling really positive today and I like it

Have decided I am no longer TTC

Am taking a break until after DHs 40th birthday (totally pregnancy unfriendly) extravaganza in October, when SWI shall resume with a vengeance

Thanks to all for your support, you really helped.

I wish you all BFPs and happy, healthy pregnancies.
