Thought I'd get a new thread started as we seem to have run out of space

Let's hope this one brings us all lots of luck!

Nanny, have you considered charting your temps for a while ...? It gives a really clear picture of what's happening in your cycle phases, should clarify if you are ovulating or not, and might flag anything happening that the monitor doesn't pick up. It also gives you info to take to your GP if you need to.

According to my copy of Weschler's fertility bible (Taking Charge of Your Fertility), ovulation predictor kits -and by extension the CBFM, I assume - only tell you when you get an LH surge and she claims they do not 100% tell you if you ovulate.

I am a new convert to charting asnd it's really crystallised things for me. But the CBFM has worked for me twice before so I am also still using it to corroberate the charts.

Also ... try and do things to relax. Giving yourself a deadline to conceive by might work against you because stress and pressure can delay ovulation. (This is very rich of me to say because I know all this but haven't figured out HOW to relax and pretend TTC is not an issue for me when it fundamentally is...)

JustShaggy · 04/05/2010 14:40

I'm interested to know from others - on average, how many high days do you get each cycle from the CBFM?

And if you get a peak, how many peak days do you get on the monitor for each cycle?

I was getting about 6-8 high days, followed by 2 each peak days each cycle, but am on CD12 at the mo and no sign of a high at all yet.

boba82 · 04/05/2010 14:41

too true shaggy it really is a vicious cycle!

boba82 · 04/05/2010 16:47

Well DH got his results this pm and they are borderline problematic so they are doing another test to compare. I'm glad he's getting another test anyway as I think I read somewhere it's better to compare from two rather than just the one. Anyone know if that's right?

Lychees · 04/05/2010 17:47

JustShaggy, in my first cycle, I had LOTS of highs followed by two peaks and a high, then last month, no highs before the peaks, two peaks and then one high. I have had two highs so far this cycle.

Boba, I'm not sure what the protocol is but I would say comparing two results is good because the sperm is sensitive and one borderline problem sample may not mean a problem overall. Good luck. Can't be long until you get your results now? I have my 21 day bloods on Friday.

Hi have reset my stats now on cd 1 as af got me it wasn't surprising really as I had nothing but lows all month. Things have been up in the air as we are thinking of changing schools for all the other 3 as they are having a tough time so may not keep going with the ttc journey, it's a compromise I am considering as it has been a hard year.

All so giving the instead cups a go which are ok to surprisingly, so nice not to wear pads or worrying about tampons.

Hope you ladys are having a better time.

cupc4kes · 05/05/2010 11:34

Lychees Someone has said about the constant highs as being possibly pregnant but I did a test last month and it said BFN. AF is due soon so just see what that brings if its another BFN then I can compare with that. Ive got an app with my consultant at the end of the month as I have Epilepsy and she has said if Im not pregnant by then she will see about tests. So I suppose either way is a positive obviously the BFP would be the best, lol.xx

Just having a quick look at the stats anyone started testing or about to start? x

boba82 · 05/05/2010 14:14

Sorry AF got you nanny.

BabyHoping · 05/05/2010 14:31

Boba, we did in the beggining of the year a sperm test and the results were completely awful... they were almost all dead... I talked with my new doctor about it and he thinks thatt probably they did bad the exam. Sperm is really sensitive and they die with time, so it´s very easy to let the sample sit for too long, etc. Also, there are so many things that can interfere.... In my case, we will probably repeat the test but the doctor was not worried at all as he says that if DH got me pregnant 3 times in a year, shure is sperm is more than capable... I got a bit anxious cause now its taking a bit longer, but we will see. I would definitely repeat the test and not trust a single test.

Justshaggy, my cycle varies a lot... I always get the 2 peak days, followed by a high day, but the number of highs before ranges from 5 to none (this happened to me in one cycle).

One question to everyone: has anyone heard about acumpuncture? Someone mentiones to me the case of a girl who has been trying for a few years and got pregnant on the second month with acumpuncture... I could think about it, specially cause I´m stressed all the time...

Lychees · 05/05/2010 15:23

BabyHoping, my SIL was ttc#2 for a number of years then tried acupuncture and hey presto, she got her BFP. It may, of course, have happened regardless of acupuncture but who knows. She is certainly sure, it was the reason for her BFP.

Sorry AF got you, nanny.

Lychees · 05/05/2010 15:25

No sign of peak yet and I have one more stick left for tomorrow so I'll be starting on a new box the day after. Will this distort the results, d'you think ?

Nanny01 · 05/05/2010 17:39

Bab bad Bad Af

Keziahhopes · 05/05/2010 23:11

Lychees - I have mixed ends of boxes no issue, though they say not to. I do try not to, but don't waste them!

My DH has just had 2nd SA testing due to just below average sperm count and hyperviscosity - seemed normal to do and good idea.

Sorry Nanny - think I will be joining you in day or two!

Hi everyone, Im back from holiday and unfortunately AF arrived while I was away. I have updated my stats. Well here we go again, cycle 3 for me on CBFM but its been 1 year since we started TTC no 2.

Reading back FYI i get 2 highs, followed by 2 peaks and then 1 high before it goes back to low. So i guess 5 days to try on?

x

Lychees · 06/05/2010 10:51

Thanks, Kezia.

Got my first peak today but lost drive/interest in bd'ing just lately as we have been bd'ing every other day since AF left. Also, have had a lot of things on my mind so I'm not sleeping well. I'm so tired and I need a good, long night's sleep zzzzz.

Lychees · 06/05/2010 10:52

Commiserations that AF got you again, vnewmummy.

Nanny01 · 06/05/2010 15:55

Hi every one this will be a good bye for me. DH and I have agreed to stop ttc for the moment as we are pursuing the move of our 2 dd's into private education as they have both been so unhappy and really not making progress. I am so sad though relieved that we are looking to move them by September. Thanks for all your support ttc is really hard going dh has promised to review things in December this year when we know what is happening. Take care ladies will be popping in to see how you are getting on from time time.

vnewmummy · 06/05/2010 16:46

Lychees - thanks hon. I am trying to be upbeat and think positive. I have also decided to get on with my life a bit more rather than focus on having a baby all the time. I even went swimming at 7am this morning!

Nanny - you never know, they say that when you stop trying things happen. Good luck with you DD 's and getting them settled at school.

boba82 · 06/05/2010 16:51

Sorry to hear that nannyhope things start looking up for you soon. I'm sure everything will sort itself out. x x

boba82 · 06/05/2010 16:52

Sorry to hear about AF vnewmummy did you have a nice holiday though?

Lychees · 06/05/2010 17:23
