Oooh, just doing some illicit lunchtime MumsNetting, so glad i popped in. Congratulations WhiteRoses!! Drink lots of wtaer and then get back to us with the results of subsequent POAS. But you know its very unusual to get a false positive, so if you've got two lines then you have a BFP!

Hooray for WhiteRoses! First BFP of 2010!

Awwwwwww congratulations Whiteroses that's just AMAZING news, you're our 2010 first! I wish you all the best

It's my birthday, been feeling really low this last couple of weeks, but DH went out to get nice breakfast stuff and is busy making me something nice (I'm sure I saw flowers when he came in the door too).

Good luck to everyone testing and hello to newcomers! I'm sure I'll manage to catch up properly sometime this week.

xxxx

capricorn76 · 11/01/2010 13:08

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum although I've been lurking for a few months. I'd just like to say hello to everyone as well as congratulations to Whiteroses.

A bit of background - I'm 33 and TTC my first. This is my 12 month and am I'm getting a little frustrated to say the least!

I have one fallopian tube and a my ovarian reserve is at the lower end of the scale.

It's so encouraging knowing that I'm not alone.

Thanks.

hamsterlover · 11/01/2010 13:30

Congratulations Whiteroses and I would like to add the second BFP of 2010. Also got mine today [GRIN]!!!!!
Did a First Response and then clear blue digital just to make sure. Tho I am sure that I could not be more than 10 days it says 2-3 weeks!! Not sure whats going on there. A bit shocked that it could be that long especially as only v recently had symptoms and was drinking a lot over xmas.
Haven't told DH yet - he didn;t even know I was testing, as I did it at the last minute! Will tell him tonight.
Happy Birthday Calyx - sounds like you are being thoroughly spoilt.

claireinthecommunity · 11/01/2010 13:49

Hello everyone

Wow, WhiteRoses that's fantastic news , let us know how your DH reacts to the news later

Calyx, Happy Birthday (another capricorn like me) Hope you have a good day, sounds as though your DH has some spoiling arranged for you I too was a little down just before my birthday (just had AF) but, being a bit spoilt with presents and a meal out helped to cheer me up!

kkas, so sorry to hear you are having the same problems again, not sure what to say really. I (we) don't have any experience of the problem or sex/relationship counselling, though, I have a long history of counselling personally. Have you brought up the possibility of the counselling with your DH? and if so, what does he think about it? - it must be very frustrating/upsetting for you to have this added pressure.

Welcome to capricorn76 (another capricorn I take it!?!) You're very welcome to join the list, it's just, how long you've been TTC : cycle?, how long your cycle usually lasts: UCL? and which cycle day you are currently on CD?. Someone will add you if you are a little nervous of adding yourself I assume you've seen a DR/specialist about your sole tube?, what advice have they given you?, have they offered any extra help with the TTC process? - sorry for all the questions!

claireinthecommunity · 11/01/2010 13:52

Hamsterlover, congratulations

Two in one day!!!!!

zippys · 11/01/2010 14:03

Cant do full post as madly busy at work (no surprise there!!) but had to say a huge congratulations to Whiteroses and Hamsterlover lets hope this is the start of a roll for all of us

Promise I will do a full post soon

capricorn76 · 11/01/2010 14:32

Hi Claireinthecommunity,

I've added myself below and yes I'm also a Capricorn.

TTC - Cycle 12, UCL - 24, and CD - 7.

Yes I'm seeing a fertility specialist about my solo tube. They discovered I only had one after they removed a large fibroid in October. I've been given until February to try naturally then in late February I'm signed up for 3 IUIs then 3IVFs (the hospital I go to has been very proactive). I'm hoping I won't need them.

capricorn welcome! just updating the list again as i think the one you used was a little outdated. also have to add to our graduates list!!!

claire thanks for your message. i am over the worst of it after my post this morning and then felt really guilty cuz DH sent 2 dozen roses to work today. guess i need to sit down with him and say that he is not in "trouble" and there is no need to say sorry (which is usually why he sends roses!). i really want to be supportive and work through it together. don't think i'll mention the counselling yet, but just take the pressure off again. have to remember what i said last time which was that he is more important to me and getting pg will happen eventually in its own time. just need to learn to have some patience [cue take that song....]

Capricorn, it's good to hear you are being treated so readily by your hospital - good luck

Kkas, aww, red roses . Yes, patience is definitely the word, tough though isn't it!?! I guess that's what MN is for - a bit of support

Hi Zippy

WhiteRoses, lol at you and your worrying , I'm sure work will be fine, letting them know tomorrow over today I mean. You sound close to your parents, so, you probably feel you want them to know - early or not. And ramble away, don't worry about being all me, me, me - this is your time and enjoy it Have a lovely evening together.

aly323 · 11/01/2010 17:09

YAY!!!!!! !!Congratulations WhiteRoses and Hamsterlover!!!! Now, I'm going to run past the last few posts to see what symptoms you were having.

Hamster, 2-3 weeks is probably right. They measure weeks from approximately the start of your last period. So, with a "normal 28 day cycle", at 14 dpo, you're considered 4 weeks pregnant.

WhiteRoses I don't know what to tell you about who to tell first, that's a tough one. Because your job is high risk, I would try to tell them asap, but let them know it's early. I probably wouldn't tell her that you didn't come in because you were overwhelmed with excitement about your BFP , but maybe you were dizzy, puking, etc? No one would expect you in under those circumstances! You could even make up a little "white lie" and tell her you just felt off, so you tested later- meaning you didn't know until after you arranged to be off.

I also want to say a quick welcome to Capricorn. I'm a Capi, too!

I'm 7dpo today, AF is due to start thur or friday. No symptoms, but still hopeful... you all know how it is.

ceebs05 · 11/01/2010 17:17

Hi,

Congrats to Whiteroses and hamsterlover on your BFPs!

I am in the 2ww now - not sure when AF is really due as cycles have ranged from 24 to 30 days so I'm working off the average at the moment which is 27 until it settles down one and for all (which I hope it will as was always regular pre-pill).

Doing my best not to symptom spot but it's really hard. Have sore boobs but that could be pre-menstrual, feel exhausted but things very busy at work etc. So there are other explanations for any symptom I can come up with!

Think we BD'd at the right times based on EWCM but not temping or anything like that yet.

Good luck for those testing soon - hopefully the first BFPs of the year will set the tone for a successful year for us all!

NovemberAli · 11/01/2010 17:28

Congratulations White Roses and Hamsterlover - see you on the September thread

Whiteroses - have just been through the same thing, had to tell my manager last week as I work in a research lab so lots of potential nasties about, it does feel weird that she knows and my parents don't but I want to wait till 12 weeks to tell them I think. Unfortunately I still have to be in the lab but "take reasonable precautions" to limit risk, which is all a bit woolly for my liking so going to chat with Occupational Health about concerns this week.

Here's hoping for more 2010 BFPs coming along soon!

aly323 · 11/01/2010 17:30

Hamster and WhiteRoses, did either of you have any "symptoms"? Or anything different about this cycle? (I looked, but didn't see anything.

Kkas, we've gone though some similar issues. It is really tough. I can remember just fuming to myself because he wouldn't even try. I've been positive that the times he didn't feel up to it, were the ones that would have gotten me pregnant. It's so difficult and it makes everyone feel bad. We've talked about it, and come to the conclusion that neither of us will ever really be able to understand the insane emotions/ issues that brings up in the other. We'll just keep trying to do the best we can...

Just recently, he said "I think we're finally getting the hang of this." which made me feel better, and I think he was right. We're figuring out the way to make it work best for us. It has taken quite a bit of talking it through. For one thing, it has helped that I now know my cycle much better, so we aren't "doing it" for weeks. I don't know what to say about the counseling. If it were me, I would suggest that the TTC process can take a toll on relationships in general and you can feel yourself stressing, so you think it might be good to strengthen your relationship. He would probably really freak out if you even suggest it would be about performance issues. At least mine would.

In my house, we've finally got the bd thing worked out. Now, we have a bicycling issue. My guy is an avid cyclist and rides about 150-200 miles a week. We're going round and round about it...

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 11/01/2010 17:32

Whiteroses just a quick post as I'm about to head home, but I don't think you need to tell work until you've been to see the doctor. I wouldn't want to tell my manager at work before my parents. I think you can interpret ?At the earliest opportunity? as being as soon as it has been confirmed by the GP. Your call, but no work policy can insist that you let them know as soon as you?ve POAS!

maamalady · 11/01/2010 18:12

WhiteRoses and Hamsterlover - congratulations! I hope your BFP vibes rub off on the rest of us

mumnerves · 11/01/2010 18:53

Whiteroses & hamsterlover: CONGRATULATIONS on your BFP! am so pleased for you! It's strange I feel annoyed when others tell me about their BFP but anyone on this site I get really happy and pleased for!!

Hi Capricorn76 and welcome! I'm 33 too and TTC#1 hope you've got yourself checked out by dr for your probs!

ceebs05, tww is the worst isn't it? I just finished mine and hormones thrown in with getting AF sets me right up for being a horrible moody cow! Good luck to you though, hope you get your BFP this time!

Huge congratulations to you both!! So exciting

WhiteRoses - if I were you I would tell your manager, so they know to go easy on you, and to look after you. I don't know about your parents. Obv you know them best, but didnt you say that your mum had issues with mc? So maybe it would be better to wait until the pg is established a bit before you tell her?? Don't know. Its so exciting that it must be tempting to get on the phone to your mum straight away and start screaming!! So happy for you - and didn't I say that as soon as you decided to hold off on trying it would happen for you!! Sods law
