Just pressed send on a message I wrote this morning - I see I am way behind the times. CONGRATULATIONS OZZIE !!

Ozziegirly · 16/12/2009 22:12

sevans firstly I am so sorry to hear the rollercoaster that you are going through. I know I will be so devestated if anything happens to this little bud, so my thoughts are with you.

aly you asked about the pill, yes I was on the pill for 15 years without a break! It suited me really well so I never had any reason to come off it.

My cycles went back to normal pretty much from month 1, but I don't know if I was actually ovulating straight away. I didn't start getting monthly spots (nice) until probably 4 months of being off the pill, which makes me think that was the hormones kicking in.

Feel fine again this morning! Will let you know when symptoms start. The only thing is that I am a bit tired, but I think that's because of being awake with excitement.

Thank you so much for all your kind messages, it really means a lot, and I am crossing my fingers for plenty more BFPs soon xx

aly323 · 17/12/2009 05:48

Ozzie, glad to hear you're feeling well- hopefully it'll stay that way! I can only imagine how I'll be when I'm finally where you are. I bet your mind is going a mile a minute!

Funny that you were on the pill for so long. I don't know if it was just a feeling I had, or if I read it sometime. I was on the pill for 12 years and a Norplant implant for 5 before that- no time off for 17 years. I really think it changes things. My cycles are actually regular unless I have some sort of insane stress (which unfortunately happened too often the past few months). I even had my first af 30 days after my last pill. However, because of the years on the pill, my estrogen is low, I o late, etc. I could feel definite hormonal changes this last cycle (number 4). Maybe that's the feel of my body starting to get back to normal. The acupuncturist says that the pill really threw me out of whack. This is funny since I, too, did really well on the pill. It seemed like such a great idea at the time. Now, I probably just need to give my body a chance to do its thing.

I think it's officially Thur. for most of you, so I figured I would try my hand at updating...

aly I just can't think that it's great for our bodies to be on these hormones for so long, but I went on the pill at 16 when you are told, basically, that everything is a risk for getting pregnant, at any time of the cycle.

And then you just fall into staying on the pill as it seems easy and no hassle and then suddenly you are 15 years older and you're still on it!

I did another test today just to convince myself that it is all real. Dark pink line straight away, within probably 30 seconds. Thrilling!

I'm seeing the Dr on Monday, which is probably too early but much as I have done lots of reading, I don't actually know what I do now in terms of finding an obstratitcian (I will need to learn to spell that) and telling my healthcare policy etc. All exciting stuff.

I'll stop monopolising the thread now. I'm just over excited and am not even telling my best friend until I have seen the Dr (she has been through every BFN with me!), so I don't have anyone else to go on about it with.

Fingers crossed for lots more BFPs over the Christmas time.

Spirael · 17/12/2009 08:09

Morning all! I've been a bit slack about posting lately, sorry. Things are busy at work and I'm still spending my evenings crashed on the sofa at the moment. Looking forward to (hopefully?) getting some energy back at some point.

I was on the pill for about ten years, but I came off it around this time last year, 6 months or so before I planned to properly start TTC, in order to make sure everything was out of my body ok. I remember my cycles being erratic as a teen, but they were pretty regular after so long on the pill. Not sure whether that's because of the pill though, or because I just got older!

Congratulations, Ozziegirly! I'm so happy for you!! Another BFP is fantastic news. I'm sure there'll be lots more coming soon... Christmas magic in the air and all that.

I hope everyone else is doing ok. Anyone else testing this weekend? Keeping my fingers crossed!

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 17/12/2009 09:28

Ozzie monopolise away! It's such exciting news and we're really thrilled for you. Hopefully there will be other Christmas BFPs to follow.

Sevans - I can't believe that your bleeding is still ongoing. I don't know very much about MC but I stupidly thought that these things took about a week to pass. That is so horrible for you.

WhiteRoses - what a lovely idea about the memory stick!

Yorks - This is probably not the PC thing to say but I am going to keep on the booze over Christmas. I have my parents staying and they are very big on the mulled wine! They would be very suspicious if I suddenly passed on it! I'm going to limit my intake as much as possible - no more than 3-4 units a day, over maybe two days, and according to the What to Expect book, this shouldnt do any harm if it does turn out that I'm pg (I'm not really very hopeful that I am though, in truth). DH and I are having a quiet, booze-free New Year so that won't be a problem.

Aly - I was on the pill for 10 years, and my cycles seem to have come back to normal beautifully - apart from the complete lack of a BFP obviously!! Between 27-30 days every month, and I am ovulating according to my CBM. Now I just need that elusive BFP!!

turkeydrumstix · 17/12/2009 11:25

Ooh and I forgot to say - I am off work after today until Boxing Day - hooray, hooray - so wont have any internet access. If anything wildly exciting happens I will go to the internet cafe and update you guys [mumsnet saddo emoticon] but if not, then

MERRY CHRISTMAS

and I will speak to you all on Boxing Day xxxx

Merry Christmas Turkey! Have a good one. I'm working right up to and including Christmas Eve, but then have the whole of actual Christmas and New Year off for the first time in years . I return on the 4th (if that's the Monday...)

sevans sorry you are still having to deal with it all. I hope you feel better by Christmas.

Hope you are all ok. I'm on my final day of quarantine at home after having the norovirus. Back to work tomorrow

Calyx · 17/12/2009 18:08

What a lot to catch up on!

OZZY Congratulations! what amazing news and I would have taken the test again too LOL!

Turkey Merry Christmas, enjoy your holiday

Hello to anyone new, I've just popped in while I'm having a cuppa and I'll be back soon to catch up properly

pepperonipizza · 18/12/2009 07:27

Ozzie, I was just looking at another thread in the pregnancy section and saw your question. I am so pleased for you, congratulations!!!!!!! What a lovely Christmas pressie, I have a big smile on my face.

Hope all the rest of you (that can remember me from a good while back ) are very well. All good here - have my 18 week scan next week, sickness has now just about disappeared and I have a little tiny bump... looking forward to it getting a bit bigger so I don't just look tubby!! Big relief to have the morning sickness go away.

Ozzie - you were asking about symptoms in the other thread, so I just wanted to say that I didn't really feel much different until 6 weeks, when I started to get quite constipated (sorry TMI!!), then by 8 weeks the morning sickness had started. Boobs started hurting around 6 weeks I think.

Oooh, so exciting! Congrats again!

mrscinco · 18/12/2009 08:33

Morning all

Hope you don't mind another joining you - i've been lurking for far too long as thought if I join in it may drive me mental.

Having realised I am clearly obsesssed with this TTC malarkey thought I may as well say hi! Also seeing those of you who've been here for a little while get your BFP's is lovely and really encouraging.

Well my stats are

TTC 1 Cycle 7 UCL 27-32 CD 17

Think that's right. Just entering the 2WW with period expected NYE - oh joy! Really thought when we started this in May that i'd be starting 2010 pregnant, may still be (just!) but i'm not too hopeful.

Anyway enough about me me me - promise won't be like that all the time (fwink) (fgrin)

mrscinco · 18/12/2009 08:34

You can tell i'm new - having got to grips with the smiley faces yet!

Spirael · 18/12/2009 08:42

Morning all! Hi mrsinco, welcome to the chaos! Nice to see you back, pepperonipizza. I'm glad everything's going well!

I haven't told too many people yet, WhiteRoses. My scan yesterday went well though, they saw a nice strong heartbeat and the baby was actually a few days head of where I thought I was. So I'll probably let more people know over the Christmas period.

My symptoms didn't really kick in until I was 6 weeks, if that helps anyone at all. That's when I started spending most of my day asleep and finding my digestive system either under or over enthusiastic, as well as having the morning sickness kick in as seemingly perpetual nausea. Before then, all I had was that my chest was a bit sore, I was apparently moody (according to my charming DH) and I seemed to be a magnet for kitties.

I still am a magnet for kitties, for that matter. I had both of them laying on me last night and purring noisily! It really doesn't help sleep, but I didn't have the heart to kick them off. (Besides, they'd have come straight back... )

mrscinco · 18/12/2009 09:16

Thanks for the welcome spirael and congratulations on the scan, that's great news and must be lovely to see the baby's heartbeat.

Right must rush as late for work - and I break up today so sooner I get stuff done sooner I can finish for chrimbo - yay!

NovemberAli · 18/12/2009 09:42

Happy Christmas everyone!

Big congratulations Ozzie, what a fab Christmas present!

Good news about the scan Spirael

Re long time on pill - I was taking it for 11 years and stopped in May, my cycles have only just returned to normal, think I was fairly regular before but to be honest was so long ago I can't remember

Can't believe AF due for me on Christmas Day!!! Could put a bit of a downer on things.....

Afternoon all

We have snow here in Cambridgeshire but DH and I do need to travel for work tonight and tomorrow night so hopefully the roads won't be too bad.

Welcome to mrscinco

Pleased to hear the scan went well spirael

Good to hear from you pepper, can't believe you are almost 18 weeks already! It must be wonderful to see a bump (even tiny at the moment) appearing and must be a relief that the sickness has passed

November, my AF is due just after Christmas day - could be great or could be a downer as you've said. I'm going to try and not buy any PG tests so I won't be tempted (or won't be able) to test - we'll see how I get on

I see from the list there are quite a few of us at the testing stage or near to it - good luck all

I don't think I have anything exciting to post either kkas, although I have been getting some cramping but trying not to read anything in to it

I really love the bauble idea WhiteRoses and look forward to an incredibly messy and uncoordinated tree for years to come I think like you that it will be SO special

Merry Christmas turkey And hope you enjoy your time off too Curly

Good to see you Calyx

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 18/12/2009 16:12

Welcome mrscinco, I'm also due AF on New Year's Eve. Lest's be optimistic - we could either have really eciting news, or otherwise a cast iron excuse to drink.

Calyx · 18/12/2009 17:35

Welcome Mrsinco hey cycle 7 same as me! I also thought I'd be pg by the turn of the year but not to be so far! It's getting to the fun time of the cycle for me, hope I can grab DH now and again but he's working looooong hours (he's a chef and it's their busy time). Maybe I'll wake him up before I go to work in the mornings !

I hope everyone's doing okay this week and not working too hard! It's very cold here but no snow (thank goodness - hate driving in snow!).

Have a great weekend everyone

Calyx · 18/12/2009 19:42

Odd... I've got EWCM (lots) on cd9 where about a few hours ago I was dry. Arghhhhh and he's working and won't be home till about midnight. Maybe it's just the 'start of fertile time' and not the only hour of the month that I'll be fertile! Grrrr grrrr grrrr I never get EWCM and the only time I have it, he's not around! Is cd9 early for this? Or is it just an anomaly or something? Wish I had one of those clearblue monitor thingys (too expensive at the moment though)!
