Hardly the most original title but I didn't want to loose anyone (well that's my excuse for the lack of originality!)

2nd level: 416

Will be retested on Monday to see my doubling rate again but feel pretty soothed by this news....

will post later when have bit more time, hi to everyone tho!! xxxx

Meita · 08/01/2010 13:16

boodle that's excellent news! Now roll on the scan in two weeks. Plenty of sticky-right-place thoughts your way.

RunFor, cheepz, nice of you to say that, but actually it is not really 'knowledge' - more like half-known stuff which can actually be the most dangerous kind of 'knowing'. Scraped together bits and pieces of information of the internet and some books and from discussion forums... so please do take it all with a grain (at least) of salt (although I understand that salt reserves are running low these days ). On the other hand, you are welcome to take my random collection of info as a starting place for finding out more yourself.

cheepz perhaps your friend would find it less daunting to talk to a GP about PCOS if she knew it was (at least initially) just a matter of a simple blood test. I had that done last January, before starting TTC, because my period was extremely late but there was no way I could have been pg. By the time the results had come in, AF had arrived too, so I wasn't too worried - but still relieved. At the same time they had tested for early menopause and I was also quite glad that that came back negative too. When we started TTC soon after, it was two things less to worry about.

Meita · 08/01/2010 13:23

Ok perhaps need to add that most people wouldn't be worrying about those things anyway... It's just that as I'm studying the experience of undergoing IVF for my PhD, I know waaaay too much of all the reasons why you can't conceive and all the things that can go wrong after you have conceived. So for me this was indeed two things less to worry about, whereas most people would probably not even think to worry about them before starting TTC.

tigger15 · 08/01/2010 13:30

TFLS we've only discovered some cash missing so far and hopefully that's just it. It wasn't as bad as the last burglary we had in another place where they really ransacked the place. This time we had an alarm and it did bother them as they were in and out in exactly 2 minutes. It's just such a pain having to do all the fixing of the broken window, sorting things out with the police and everyone claiming they can't do it because of the snow. I'm not sure how I'll feel when we're away as the house will be unattended then but at the moment it feels much better than the last time as I can compare it and feel that we've come off better (nothing sentimental taken and minimal mess instead of a ransacked home).

I'm trying to take a view that hopefully this will serve as karmic protection to us getting things stolen while on holiday or us broken into while we're away. Both of which have happened in the past.

Effi really sorry to hear about your dog. There is nothing quite like losing a pet. Hopefully there is some great balance which is now going to bring you loads of good things in return.

boodleboot · 08/01/2010 13:37

tigger sorry forgot to acknowledge your break in....so sorry that happened, rubbish isn't the word. well done for being such a grown up about it.....i would probably have moved the first time as am a total scaredy cat!

thefatladyscreams · 08/01/2010 14:37

You sound incredibily philisophical tigger. But hopefully the alarm would put them off returning. What news on your flight - does it look like you will get away OK?

Keep that multiplication going boodle - great news!

So sorry to hear about your dog Effilump. They do become a real member of your family and leave a massive hole. Big hug to you xxx.

A midwife appointment, blimey that makes it all sound "official" meita! Good on you. Can I ask a question - when you had the blood test for early menopause was that testing your FSH levels and did it take long to organise?

Predicting more snow here. We haven't been out for days but the up side is we've eaten all the Christmas leftovers. The downside is the cupboards are looking distinctly bare so we're venturing out tonight to try to replenish stocks. DH has worked out that we can last to Monday before we have absolutely nothing left (but that would involve having eaten the ancient tins of pilchards etc lurking at the back of the cupboard). Oh joy!

Cheepz · 08/01/2010 14:51

Feeling major PMS - maybe AF arrive earlier than anticipated. I think tomorrow>

At least that means I won't stress about having got pregnant in a month where I have done just about everything wrong!! Now January, new year, new diet, new start - need to get DH to knock me up. How often do you reckon I should try and have sex!!!! every 3 days until high on monitor then every other day and on both peak days? That should do it but have no idea how to get DH to do that much 'work' normally its all I can do to get 4 performances a month total, its no wonder this is taking so long....

Malotkins · 08/01/2010 17:26

Hi ladies,

Can I ask you a question? I have just suffered my 2nd m/c in 6 months. I want to try again as soon as my body recovers and have been reading up on vitamins and minterals for ttc. I was wondering what other people might be taking in addition to Pregnacare? I am taking; Pregnacare (since Sept 09), Vitamin B complex (since Sept 09), baby aspirin (since last week), Evening Primrose Oil (since Sept 09). I have just bought Selenium as I have read really good things about it. I read the recommended dose for ttc is 200mcg and there is only 50mcg in Pregnacare so I wanted to top it up. I will be rattling soon! I have also read 300mg of Magnesium is also good with a history of miscarriage. Have I gone a bit ott? I definatley trhink the EPO is worth taking as I noticed it greatly increased my EWCM (sorry, TMI!).

Thanks,

Hannah

SamanthaB123 · 08/01/2010 19:58

Hi All,

Quick question...I'm going to look like a bit of an eejit . I am trying to justify testing soon when I am only on day 24. Do you count day one as the first sight of blood that you have, or as the first day of heavy bleeding? Is there a 'right' answer or do different people do it differently?

louisesh · 08/01/2010 21:28

Hi All soo glad its the weekend and works done for the week....Been a long week!!!!

TFLS how lovely to have not been out in days.....We have to go out every day to work[ and the gym] and its been soo horrible.....

Yeh BOODLE on those results

Hi CHEEPZ know what you mean we ve been aiming to bd every other day and when i get a +ve on my ovulation sticks every day for 3 days!!! But if your DH like mine just prefers it every 2-3 days now [he s getting on ,38] all of it is HARD work....

SAMB i count my cd1 from the first day i have ANY blood, be it a drop or first flush.

TIGGER sorry about your break in....X

EFFI soo sorry about your dog X

Well Yeh its the weekend...Just chiling, drinking alcohol and planning on BD and out of the cold YEH....Lovely lie-in tomorrow YEH....Off to watch "dancing on ice" to cringe at people!

MEITA hope you re well X

LeeWT · 08/01/2010 23:06

boodleboodleboodle great news!!!! You deserve it hon I'm getting a good feeling!!!

meita you're turning into a proper grad ma darlin .. That bean seems to be a sticky one :-)

Sam beat you to it, also on cd25 and awful cramps on cd23 so got to thinking but of course it's too early so was bfn.

cheepz I honestly think that if you know when you are ovulating you'd be better to bd a few times akround then than space it out because there really is only quite a small window.. Now if only me and dh could stop drunken bd'ing when we're not supposed to be ttc lol

as for me since were all talking about weight, before the mc's I was 14 10 and was fairly happy not catwalk material but I could buy clothes. I've put on nearly a stone (15 8) and I'm miserable about it.. It makes all the difference between being able to buy clothes that it and not and it's the only reason I don't wnt to conceive as I'll be so heavy. At previous weight I was size 16 and at this weight I couldn't find 18s to fit boohoo.

Anywayyyy it's my bday tomor (big three oh) so I'm trying to forget about it!

Love to u all (still wish mrs r would talk to us hope u r ok )

X

LeeWT · 08/01/2010 23:08

Oh and Louiseh I LOVE dancing on ice!!!!

tigerbear · 08/01/2010 23:41

Hi everyone,
Happy New Year!
Not been on here as much recently,as my new resolution is to stop being on MN so much (sadly have to try, unless I want to see my business go down the drain!
Congrats to Boodle and Meita!!!!!!

Well, I'm really hoping this month will bring good news. My period isn't due for another 9 days and I'm so impatient to find out. DH and I had sex 4 days in a row at the 'right' time, so fingers crossed! It's our wedding anniversary next week, so I'm hoping to do an early test to find out then. Will obv be if neg, but what a fab anniversary if positive!

Happy Birthday leewt

I'll be 30 also next month.

randomimposter · 09/01/2010 10:17

oooo I remember 30... (just). A great girly knees up in Dublin (before it became so popular ). Trend-setter me...

Still planning to test tomorrow - can't believe I could be pregnant. But in the absence of AF guess I have to test.

Hope all well and keeping warm. Brr.

MrsRigby · 09/01/2010 13:01

jollster just test now, I can't bear the waiting and it's ages before I can even think about doing it.

SamanthaB123 · 09/01/2010 13:10

Good luck jollster, fx for a bfp in the morning.

LeeWT - when are you going to test again? I was/am half thinking of testing tomorrow morning because DH is away all week and it would be much nicer for us to know together. Trouble is, it's quite early so won't have a conclusive answer unless it's +ve. Depending on when I class day one, it's either day 26 or 27 tomorrow. Have bought test ready in case I get snowed in next week . Besides, it'll be here ready....

I've started to prepare myself for bfn and ttc again next month, in spite of nausea, exhustion etc .

Anyone else testing? I can't see the stats from this little box? SB

MrsRigby · 09/01/2010 13:22

samanthab123 from everything you've said, I think you'll get a BFP.

Test now.

Cheepz · 09/01/2010 14:24

still no AF but have had a little spotting, normally just comes bam but might be a slow start this month, either way have godawful PMS so if not today will be tomorrow. Have not bought tests as there is no point.

louisesh would be great if he wanted it every 2 - 3 days - its more like once a week as long as hes not too tired / stressed / out!!

leewt hear you on the window but can't help wondering what of the tests are wrong and I am not ovulating when they say I am - its been 3 months with the CBFM and we have done it on one of the peak days each month ... I guess we need to do 5 days in a row from high through peaks and see how that works. I ams tarting to wonder if there is something wrong but I honestly think we are just not doing it enough!! I have asked dh for a couple of months of doing it alot before I go and see a doctor. 9 months of trying, 1 mc after 3 months and this will be cycle 6 now with 3 on the monitor, I am thinking something should be happening ... DS happened before we even started trying the first time around

samb I would go against MrsR and say wait before testing, if its a BFN you will just then have to wait for AF, and deal with feeling disappointed

jollster if I was you I would be thinking about testing soon though

love to all

nice to see you posting mrsr meita and boodle what news ladies

SamanthaB123 · 09/01/2010 14:47

MrsR Thanks for the vote of confidence, you always make me feel better . I was wondering if it was pregnacare vitamins that are making me feel sick and causing constipation . I'm just having a down day and feeling really low and tired, just sort of fed up with everyone and everything.

I'll see how I feel for the rest of the day, if I test in the morning, I'll let you know...fx, SB

(And it's snowing AGAIN. How am I supposed to get to school in this?!)

Meita · 09/01/2010 15:26

TFLS Well I went to see the GP for something else (an ear infection IIRC) and just mentioned that my period was very very late (like, over a month late or so) and there was no way I could be pregnant and I was starting to be worried. GP set up a blood test with a nurse the next day, and when I went back to see him a couple of weeks later (again for something else - AF had arrived in the mean time and I had stopped worrying) I asked for the results and he said it was all clear, they had tested for PCOS and for early menopause and there was no indication in the blood for either of those. But unfortunately I don't know what exactly they tested/measured. So it was really no bother and straightforward and quick.

Yeah I know, it's starting to feel like it could be real. Though I'm not even 9 weeks yet. There is still some way to go!

Hi Malotkins, so sorry to hear about your MCs. It is very tough. I can very much understand that you want to do everything possible to support your chances of conceiving and of carrying a baby to term. As to your question if it's OTT, well to be honest my first reaction was "yes it is". But then I remembered myself and must say it would be a bit like the pot calling the kettle black... It's just that I don't like taking tablets, so I focus on herbal teas instead.
Still, there is the point that stress is bad for conceiving. You sound like you're working yourself up into a right state of mind, and then perhaps when it doesn't work out you feel like you "didn't do enough" - like you failed, when it is in reality just bad luck and nothing you can influence much.
So my advice would be: Learn to trust your body again and relax a bit. I know that after one or several MCs it really feels like your body is rubbish and can't even do what every other woman can... and so on. But it's not true. Most likely your body was doing exactly the right thing when you MCed. Probably these babies couldn't have survived and had to go. And that's just bad luck. But it doesn't mean your body is rubbish. So relax, do what feels right for you and try to trust your body even if it's just a tiny little bit.

Meita · 09/01/2010 15:48

SamB I think for stuff like FF you're supposed to count the day when you get a normal bleed as day one. Like, when you tell FF that you've had a light bleed, it automatically starts a new cycle for you with this as day one. But when you tell it that you had spotting, it doesn't - it counts that as part of the previous cycle.
If you have cheepie tests, I'd say go ahead - if you have more expensive ones, I'd wait a day between testing. In any case, good luck to you!

lee happy birthday! I hope you enjoy it lots. My 30th was nearly 4 years ago... and I spent most of it at the dentist's, as I'd broken half a tooth off. Just right to help me feel properly old .
Yeah, am a bit of a grad I suppose, but if it's ok for everyone I'd love to stick around a bit longer... there's still a long way to go.
Fingers crossed for you. Over all I suppose if you are pg, the weight issues will be sort of unimportant in comparison. But it's nice to have a sort of win-win situation - whatever happens, you can see the good side of it

cheepz I share Lee's opinion - if your cycle is anywhere near regular, do it when it matters rather than all the time. And if you have to choose, then do it earlier rather than later - a day too early is "low" chances, a day too late is "no" chances. Then use the time post-ovulation as "sex for fun" time. So you don't forget what that is.
Sorry that you feel AF approaching. I really wish it would work out for you soon... we came onto this thread at the same time I think and it's about time to hear some success I believe!
But if I were you I'd try not to worry yet. You know, if a hundred healthy couples TTC for one year, only 80 of them will have conceived. So 20 couples who have absolutely nothing wrong with them will still have not conceived after a year of trying. It's just luck sometimes. On average, we should conceive once in five cycles - but that's just the average.

jollster well you know, missing AF is still the very very best "early symptom" of pregnancy. Lots of people have lots of symptoms which mean nothing at all once AF arrives. But if AF doesn't arrive, the lack of other symptoms is very meaningless... so, Fx for you! Keep us updated!

tetleytea · 09/01/2010 16:07

AF on its way, i'm definitely spotting, dammit. So much for the post-mc fertility increase

cheepz hope you're still in with a chance...
