fulham hope you stick around and congrats on the proposal plans. can't wait to hear all about it.

curly I was TTW last weekend too with the DH (both of us had read the book a few years ago). I also liked it but agree some may not understand it if they hadn't read the book.

thanks to everyone for their kind words of advice. nice to know we're not alone and i think i might impose the same sorta ban as immaterial on myself to get some perspective. so if i'm not around for a few days, that's why! Will def come back though.

CurlyCasper · 26/08/2009 15:34

yes claire read the book first - I love it! Film's a nice film, but not a patch on book. My DH will neither read it or come to cinema, so i got another bloke to take me instead!

Thanks Ful. I'm v jealous re the impending proposal. I miss that lovely engaged/planning wedding stuff. boring and married now... Make him beg!

kkas good plan. I'll be having my MN break this weekend when DH's family descend. see you soon though!

claireinthecommunity · 26/08/2009 16:12

Curly I find films are rarely as good as or better than the book, you can envisage it so very differently to the screen writers and directors and when you watch the film adaptation it just doesn't step up to your own imagination. I'll read the book then probably get the film on dvd or watch it on the tv when screened. Sounds great having a stand in bloke! not sure how my DH would feel about that. I do tend to go to the theatre and the odd foreign film on my own, DH would come but not really enjoy or get it, so I'd rather go alone or sometimes with a girlfriend. I think it's healthy though to have different interests from your significant other, we spend so much time together as it is (we work together) that we need a bit of time apart to do other things that don't involve one another.

fulham your cruise sounds interesting, where abouts are you thinking of sailing to? Lol at giving him knee ache , as I think Curly said, make him beg!

kkas I seem to go in fits and starts on MN, at the moment I'm reading and posting a lot, if I get AF I shall more than likely stay away for a while, at least until I'm nearing my fertile time again

CurlyCasper · 26/08/2009 16:22

claire totally agree on the book film thing, but was so convinced they were going to screw this one up that I had to see it - so I could get all judgemental I suppose - which is why i was pleasantly surprised.

Same bloke has accompanied me to theatre before. DH doesn't mind cause it gets him out of doing these things - although yesterday he was trying to convince himself the other bloke is gay, which he is not we have very different interests so spend a fair bit of time apart.

claire you should look in on the mid 30s ttc thread... (I know you're not mid 30s, but neither am I and they let me in!)

claireinthecommunity · 26/08/2009 16:22

Thought I would go ahead and re add Trying as a graduate at the bottom of the list, my post where I asked what others thought about it is a page away now and may get over looked, so I thought sod it - do it anyway. I know I'd like to be a graduate as/when and if I get a BFP

Hopefully she'll come back and let us know how she's getting on

claireinthecommunity · 26/08/2009 16:29

Oh and lol at your Dh and the gay thing - men (hetrosexual) are hilarious aren't they.

CurlyCasper · 26/08/2009 16:34

sorry claire had overlooked the grads thing, but definitely good to have them on here! well done

claireinthecommunity · 26/08/2009 16:51

That's ok, so many posts on here over the last couple of days, it can be difficult to keep up!

sky27 · 26/08/2009 23:55

Claire thanks for adding trying, I must have missed her at some point!

I've been an emotional wreck today cried 4 times for no reason. Still no af...had 3 BFNs in a row...anyone suggest a good early test as it'd be great to have a bfp tomorrow as it's my birthday!

CJ2007 · 27/08/2009 06:50

sky I'm in a similar position, usually so regular and nothing this month. Feel so out of sorts and frustrated. Have tested but all bfn. poor dh doesn't know what to do and whilst I'm trying hard to keep busy it's all I can think about.
I hope things turn a corner soon,
x

bluesnowfalcon · 27/08/2009 07:14

Sky and CJ thinking of you both and hope that either AF turns up soon or you get BFP's so that you know where you are

Hope all is well with everyone else x

CJ2007 · 27/08/2009 09:01

Thanks blue.

fulhamgirl yep, cycle buddies again, although I'm sorry to hear you've decided to not try for now. But huge congrats on your proposal!! I'm really happy for you, now you get to plan a wedding, how exciting!

CJ I know what you mean about the frustration No advice here I'm afraid, I guess it's just something we have to go through...

It does help to force yourself to take your mind off it though, by going out and doing other things.

As for the theatre we saw, I'm in Edinburgh and it's festival time, so it was a weird modern take on the story of Ulysses and Penelope. It can be touch and go with the festival in terms of quality, but this was good!

I'm babysitting two boys tonight, 3yo and 5yo, very boisterous, maybe when I get home I'll have changed my mind about this whole TTC malarkey!

bluesnowfalcon · 27/08/2009 10:40

Happy birthday Sky

pepperonipizza · 27/08/2009 11:56

CJ I'm totally with you. Th whole TTC thing is sooo frustrating (and we haven't even been trying that long). Some days I feel very calm and relaxed, other I just want it to happen NOW!! Oh well..... have to learn that as much as I want to, I can't control what my body wants to do, or speed it up.

I am so jealous that Time Travellers Wife is out in the UK. It's one of my favourite books, and I love Rachel McAdam - I can't wait to see it, but it's not out in Oz until November!!

Hope everyone is doing well? We must be due some BFPs soon! Sky?

claireinthecommunity · 27/08/2009 13:48

Happy birthday sky

I can empathize and sympathize will all who are feeling frustrated with the TTC journey, it's 5 days until my AF should be due and I just want to know one way or the other now! I'm still getting the abdominal cramping, it was quite bad last night in bed and at the moment it's more like a dull ache. It is the type of cramping I usually get at the beginning of my period, but I haven't had any bleeding at all, even though I've been on constant knicker watch!

I'm going to try and hold out on testing until I'm past my period due date, easier said than done I know and I've got some of the pesky tests in the bathroom basket calling at me already

Oh and Immaterial I'm so that you are in Edinburgh, I've never made it up that far, but would dearly love to visit. DH and I plan to make a trip up sometime soon (probably not during the festival, I'd love it but DH would be bored to death!) I shall squeeze you for advice on all the great haunts to visit, I'm particularly looking forward to exploring the castle, I love the way it towers over the city on that big hill (obviously I've only seen it in photos and on the tv )

CurlyCasper · 27/08/2009 14:12

Happy Birthday Sky! claire and immat you're making me miss my old city! Lived in the 'burgh for four years while at uni and did some serious festival activity! DH likes going for the festival too, to see stand-up comedy and general soak it up. Wouldn't do actual theatre though. I'm from the other side of Scotland to begin with BTW.

Stay strong claire. I don't think I'd even dare buy tests until I'm ready to use them. Thankfully i get my DH back tonight and am fully prepared to "use" him. Two days apart seems like ages when you're TTC!
x

claireinthecommunity · 27/08/2009 14:29

Curly I would love the stand up, maybe I could persuade hubby... Have a good shag time tonight!

Kaystar · 27/08/2009 14:43

Happy birthday sky!

Well, I gave in yesterday and popped into the chemist on the way home and bought a CB two-pack.

Up early this morning to POAS and... BFP. Am in shock as I really did not think that I was pregnant but have been looking like at work today. My colleagues must wonder...

Woke up DH immediately to tell him and he managed to sound excited though half asleep - guess I can understand as it was 4.30am!

Here's hoping for a lot more BFPs soon!

ImmaterialGirl · 27/08/2009 15:19

Congratulations kaystar
I saw your announcement on the May bus and was hoping you'd pop over and tell us here as well...

That is fantastic news, onwards for more BFP's!

claire (and Curly) Edinburgh is indeed a brilliant city, I've lived here 6 years and love it (despite weather...) and am more than happy to give tips and advice in terms of what to do here
