claire I seem to remember that pre pill my periods were not really heavy - and then once in a while I would get a really bad one, but painful rather than heavy.

Over the last three months they haven't been painful at all, I haven't even had to take a painkiller (and I am a wuss) and all I have felt is a very dull ache, no pulsing pains at all.

I'm not wanting to wish painful, heavy periods on myself though!

I guess the fact that they are regular is good - I read that regular periods tend to be ovulatory, and I am obviously sending out various hormones as I am getting spots towards the end, and a bit of PMT.

I am taking Agnus Castus though so I wonder if that is just making everything better?

I"m doing badly with temping! Totally forgot this morning and yesterday - will start tomorrow and am also going to start on the grapefruit juice.

Good luck over the next few days for you - fingers crossed for implantation pain.

pepperonipizza · 26/08/2009 01:15

Claire mmmmmmm!! Sounds delicious!

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone. I am British, but moved over to Oz last year (so I'm teasing everyone at work about the cricket at the moment!!).

Good to hear there are lots of us in the same situation and have just come off the pill. Ozzie, you sound the same as me, though I have been having quite short periods and cycles rather than light (26, then 27, the 25, then 25 days). I?m hoping the temping will give me more of an idea of what?s going on!

Curly, looking back, there has definitely been a difference in CM the last two cycles compared to the first two - I seem to have managed to fit in 4 periods since coming off the pill in May! We have been doing the same as you and Ozzie and just going for it at fertile times anyway! No luck so far but fingers crossed for this month (for us all!!).

Kkas will keep you updated as to how the temping goes. So far it seems to be doing what it should, but only on D10, so I haven?t got to the most important bit (temp shift) yet! I really hope it?s all working as it should be?..

Oh, forgot to say, mumandlovingit, this month we are trying every other day from end of AF, then every day when there's eggwhite, and then usually once more a few days later for luck!! I have heard of every other day to let the sperm build up, I think we'll try that next month if we're unsuccessful again this month. It's so hard to know what's best!

claireinthecommunity · 26/08/2009 01:37

Ozzie, I'm leaning on the optimistic side of things that your periods are light as they were pre pill and regular, as you said surely that's a good thing?

Agnus Castus - have heard of it but not too sure what it's supposed to do?

Hope the temping gets back on track!, probably will once you get passed AF and take up the grapefruit juice and OPKing.

Thanks for the good luck, my AF type ache is still here, it's been about 6 hours now since it became stronger and it's to early for AF - we'll see...

Oh and Ozzie, how's your friend?, did you get any response from the card you were going to send her?

Yes pepperoni my pud was delicious! You and Ozzie will be able to chat when the rest of us on the other side of the pond are all tucked up in bed

Ozziegirly · 26/08/2009 03:00

claire Agnus castus was something I saw recommended on here for people who have been on the pill for ages. Apparently it makes your body more receptive to fertility hormones and helps to regulate and lengthen cycles.

Figured it probably wouldn't do any harm to try, and certainly things seem to have gone back to normal pretty quickly.

And yes, I got a text from my friend re the card. DH said she is back at work but very down and distracted, poor thing.

Kaystar · 26/08/2009 05:43

Morning all, interesting to read about the grapefruit juice. Do you think it works with pink grapefruit juice as I have never managed to stomach full-on grapefruit without adding a ton of sugar

claire, not nosy at all. I am what I think of as "only" 33, but according to what I read I am approaching the danger zone of 35 Cannot see myself how you can be 34 and okay and suddenly when you're 35 you're "old" but ho hum. Guess I just need to stop reading websites like that...

Hope you're friend isn't staying with you too much longer sky, she sounds awful (and jealous).

Good luck everyone!

mumandlovingit · 26/08/2009 06:13

morning everyone

still no period.has anyone elses body suddenly decided to got haywire when first trying? we cant even begin to try until i have my period.really annoyed.maybe if i try and forget about it and stay well away from babysites etc for a few days it will happen lol

braving clarks shoe shop with the kids today for their school shoes.wish me luck! i hate going into town in the summer holidays its so busy and the kids get grumpy.think im going to decide only 2 pairs with decent soles on that will be good for them for the winter and tell them they've got to try them on and decide between the two.cant be dealing with ds's chosing between about 12 pairs.i haven't got 4 hours to spend in there.

CurlyCasper · 26/08/2009 08:48

Wow you were a busy bunch last night while I was at the pictures.

Claire your pain sounds hopeful - hope it's a good sign

ozzie temping is a right 'mare isn't it. However, I am now suitably obsessed to be recording my highly inconsistent results every day - chart is a giant zig-zag.

pep glad things are becoming clearere for you. My CM is officially as erratic as my temps after this morning's check! makes we wonder if I'm even ovulating.

Good luck to everyone else!

I now officially NEED to get PG. I stopped the ibuprofen when we started trying on saturday and my arthritis has totally flared. knuckles are huge and painful, can't lift one arm above shoulder and I'm soooooo tired all the time. Pregnancy is supposed to bring on a temporary remission.... please!!??!! Must muster up the energy to keep going at it with DH - he's back from two days away tomorrow - when I'm on CD14!

CurlyCasper · 26/08/2009 08:49

p.s thanks for doing the chart blue

Ozziegirly · 26/08/2009 09:24

Yes Curly temping is crap! I don't seem to get any kind of proper pattern at all. I think it's because I nearly always wake at about 4am to go to the loo, so I don't think I have laid still for long enough when the alarm goes off at 6.30.

I have bought OPKs for this month though and am going to start testing on CD8 - I know it's early but we have DTD on CD10 and beyond for three months and nothing has happened yet, so I wonder if I am ovulating early. At least the OPKs should give me a bit of a better idea.

Sorry to hear your arthritis has flared up already - will keep fingers crossed that you get a BFP asap!

kkas · 26/08/2009 09:44

Morning girls - sorry if tmi, but feeling very low today due to massive failure in the DH's boy department last night.

Does this happen to anyone else?

After almost 6 years of being together (4 years of marriage), it has happened a few times before. Mainly if DH was stressed at work or drunk. But last night was the worst. And of course, right at the worst time given I am day 14 today, EWCM and just felt sharp pains in my lower abdomen.

Of course, it set me off crying last night, which I couldn't help, even though I know it would only increase the pressure on him and make it worse. DH of course was also upset and kept saying sorry. I said sorry I had such great expectations. He said he would go see the doctor, which of course made me feel awful.

I know it is really early days for us yet and I'm sure it is just the thought of being expected to perform which is causing it. But it is impossible for me to hide the frustration.

Anyway, just need to vent and see if anyone else has felt the same? Any advice... other than just chill out and stop putting so much pressure on him (which I know I need to do anyway)? Is there any point in trying again tonight?

Ozziegirly · 26/08/2009 10:38

Honestly, I wouldn't try again tonight - what I would probably do is (again, TMI) give him a nice blow job, so he can enjoy himself and feel like it's not all about making babies. You have plenty of time, but you don't want him to go off it completely by feeling pressured.

I know it's difficult, but if you're ovulating now, you'll ovulate next month.

I would not mention any TTC stuff to him -don't let him know what CD it is, don't just focus on bonking for babies, make sure he knows that he isn't under too much pressure.

If it doesn't happen very often I wouldn't worry about the Dr - I'd be quite breezy about the whole thing really.

sky27 · 26/08/2009 10:40

Mumandlovingit My friend had fertility tests and their consultant said every other day providing no sperm probs otherwise every three days.

I'm totally confused now. Came off the pill on the 1st of july, bleed on the 6th for 3 days, then had a 24 day cycle with 8 day lp. Now on cd29 ov'ed 4 days late making it a supposed 28 day cycle and BFN again i'm 10dpo so still early but WTF

kkas · 26/08/2009 11:15

Thanks Ozzie - very good advice. Of course, I did try to make out last night like it was no big deal, but hormones got the better of me. Will really try to be better going forward.

Think it best to give it a rest tonight. And try other things, as you say, for a while, so he knows it's not all about TTC. It will happen in its own time and my stressing is not going to help anything.

Feel better now for just getting it out there and off my chest.

Thanks!

sky27 · 26/08/2009 11:19

Kkas I agree with Ozzie take the pressure off, we had a few problems when tried daily so backed off and now he's pressuring me (not fertile window now) lol

ImmaterialGirl · 26/08/2009 11:48

Hi girls,

Sorry I've been gone a few days -when AF got me I realised I'd been getting a bit too obsessed with TTC/symptoms/MN/googling things to do with pregnancy etc. and I had to get a grip. So imposed a few days internet-ban and went for walks with DP in the evening instead (I even dragged him to the theatre two nights ago).

Anyway, back now, slightly more level headed hopefully. Mind you, I did treat myself to a clearblue fertility monitor, and started temping this morning, so who knows how long before I'm back obsessing...

Let's see,

Sorry to the others who have been caught by AF

About cycles, I came off the pill in the end of June, had a withdrawal bleed within three days and then AF after 30 days. Last cycle was 28 days. Think I'm pretty regular, but not sure if I ovulate. I guess that's what the temping and opk'ing is for! Oh, and I bought grapefruits too!

And it does work with pink grapefruit as well, the enzymes (or something) are the same apparently.

sky sorry about your horrible friend, hope she's gone now... And sorry about the BFN You hear about women who don't get positives until a few months in though, so as long as no AF, I'd say there's still hope!

claire sounds promising, fingers crossed!

kkas sorry about your DH being stressed, I think it's good advice to just pretend it's not really a big deal (easier said than done) and do lots of 'other' things as well as bonking outside the fertile window It's important to keep it fun I think!

And to everyone, tons of luck!!

claireinthecommunity · 26/08/2009 12:27

Yeah Ozzie if you feel it could of/ could be making a difference re cycle getting back to normal then why not. I'm taking prescribed meds from doctor so not keen on overloading my system IYSWIM.

Good that you've heard from your friend, even if she doesn't follow you up on any support offered at the moment (which she may not), she will know it has been offered now and in the future when she looks back at this time in her life and know that you were there for her

Kaystar I'm 33 too so know what you mean, lots of reports out there at the mo about decreased fertility after 35 and makes you think

Thanks for updating the list Blue

I had a thought about the list, some time ago trying was a graduate underneath the list with the date she got her BFP, what do you all think about putting her back on. Do you think it would be a nice idea to have a running list of our grads too, encouraging or frustrating??? I'll dig her stats out if we all think it's a good idea.

Curly so sorry to hear your arthritis has flared up, lets hope your BFP hurries up and gets to you! My AF type pain is still here this morning and I'm on constant knicker watch hoping it's not an early arrival from AF. And spill Curly what was the film and was it any good?

kkas that's good advice from Ozzie, this TTC lark does put pressure on you both. I also agree that if it's only happened a few times in all those years together, it's not worth seeing a doctor yet, it may only exacerbate the situation. There is no talk of CD and CM/EWCM between my DH and I!

mum no advice, but I covert the Silver Cross Freeway - my tiny boot won't allow it. The joys of Clarks, good luck.

sky hope things settle down for you soon, it's horrible isn't it not feeling in control of the situation.

claireinthecommunity · 26/08/2009 12:32

Good to see you back Immaterial

The walks sound good, what did you see at the theatre?

fulhamgirl · 26/08/2009 12:38

Heya guys!!

Im- Hey babes looks like me and u are on the same cycle again lol!!

Claire- Fingers crossed for u huni!!

Sky-OMG unfortunatly jealous friends are very hard to cope with babes. To be honest with u everyone has a litle of the green eyed monster in them but a good friend never shows it and should be so happy for you!! Just try to ignore it as hard as it for you she probley needs you alot more than you think.

kkas- Its happened to everyone. My OH has lost it a few times mainly through drink and stress at work!! But your OH knows its the most important time for you now to concieve and prob is feeling the stress of it and now he is prob gonna feel it again tonight! Its nothing personal its a self concious thing mainley pressure I agree with Ozzie completly plus what ive relised the more I stressed this month and tried it never happened!! So relax and maybe concentrate on your hubby this month make him feel its all about him and not the baby making you will be suprised on how good the sex is ;)!!

Guys me and OH have decided to put our plans on hold for a bit. We got so wrapped into this we forgot bout each other and lost all fun in the relationship and was so dissapointed. We have booked a cruise and he has told me he is planning on a big proposal within the next few months . So excited.

He said it will happen when we least expect it to so we are not going to do this all we have to have sex on this night and all this cushion under the bottom kinda thing lol!!

i will still keep in the chart though if its ok with you guys cause as I said if it happenes it happens.

Still good luck to you all and I would love to carry on helping you guys with your journeys.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CurlyCasper · 26/08/2009 12:43

I second the above, kkas re not worrying too much yet and making sure you have fun shags/bed behaviour too. I'm sure if you step off the gas all will be well.

mumand Think the general advice is to do it every two day, plus "one for the pot" at ovulation (if you can work out when that is!!!) No idea yet on prams etc but i will have to find something to fit my Ford KA. Been having a nosy on ebay already - don't have the funds to buy from new - although car seat has to be new

immaterial glad to hear you are feeling refreshed. See anything good at the theatre?

Thanks ozzie and claire for your kind responses to my earlier whinge. And sorry all for whinging. Perked up a lot now

I saw Time Traveler's Wife and was pleasantly surprised. I love the book and was expecting them just to turn it into a love story. Think anyone who hasn't read or doesn't like the book might not get it tho.

xx

CurlyCasper · 26/08/2009 12:45

oops x-post with fulham. get you being all sensible - please do stick with us and about the proposal plans!

fulhamgirl · 26/08/2009 12:48

Oh Curly im so sorry hun I didnt see you wall post!! Im sorry to hear bout that!! Im keeping my fingers crossed for you!! BFP !!!

I do wanna watch that film but OH wont go and see it with me!! Think it might be a mum and daughter night out.

Lol about the car situation!! I have a 2 seater so I am defo in a pickle if I concieve soon!!

xxxxxxxxxxx

claireinthecommunity · 26/08/2009 13:04

fulham will it be yes or no? and do I really need to ask? Sounds like a good plan taking things more casually, all the best.

Curly I've seen the film advertised and thought I should probably read the novel before hand, I'm a bit of a stickler for that. Oh and whinge away

fulhamgirl · 26/08/2009 13:13

Heya Claire lol I might make him sweat a little or get a bit of a knee ache first haha!! But it will be a big yes!! I couldnt believe it when he dropped the hint yesterday!!

I will defo stay on here though its so weried but u guys are so nice ive made some really good friends.

We booked a cruise for next july so will prob try then but I dont mind being preggers on the cruise so we might have to hold off until xmas dont fancy givin birth in the middle of the sea though .

But as OH said it will happen when it happens and prob wen we least expect it!! Tbh I got so wrapped into it all I did forget about OH and he was getting a little upset with me lol!! So gonna concentrate on him now for next few months (if he is lucky).

Weve just brought our own house as well so prob best to enjoy together before we decorate the spare room lol. Plus sounds like we will be poping open the champers soon as well cant miss out on that!! !!

Will defo stay on here though and please keep my chart up!!! Ty
