Anyone feel like joining this bus??

I'm 36, TCC 1, never wanted children and now have done a complete u-turn!

TCC 1, Cycle 2, UCL 28-33ish, CD12

I'm half inclined to send you a bosnian food parcel - nobody should be without choc treats.

Presumably low carbs can mean high everything else? Lard for example?

skihorse · 29/05/2009 09:34

Lard, meat, gin, ice-cubes, lemon slices etc.

Cosmosis · 29/05/2009 09:58

It did make me chuckle the other day when I noticed that there is a resealable thingy on the packet of GCBs. I mean, ho's going to reseal them???

nocoffee we've been decaff for quite a while in this house as caffeine affects my dh quite badly. we've got a bean to cup machine and have to say, you can't tell the difference in taste at all. we get our beans online from Hasbeen.

laurielou · 29/05/2009 10:04

cosmosis I noticed the re-sealable mallarkey on bags of chocs too - whoever came up with that crazy marketing idea should be sacked.

I'm not de-caff, but at most drink about 3 cups a day. My DP is odd, love him. Doesn't drink coffee coz can't stand the smell (WTF?), does drink tea coz its "an old lady's drink", doesn't drink alcohol coz doesn't like the taste ????? I told him no-one does when you start, but you drink through that to acquire the taste. He drinks orange juice & lemonade. And a coke if he's going crazy. Woo, the winter nights fly by in our house!

Cosmosis · 29/05/2009 10:11

Living on the wild side!

triggerhappybaby · 29/05/2009 12:28

Back from the clinic - didn't need D&C, did it all by myslef

In amongst the mail when i got home was a big fat envelope from the antenatal unit congratulating me on my pregnancy and inviting me for a scan on 18th June. C**ts.

Luckily I've bought wine.

SarahAbroad · 29/05/2009 12:36

I wish I had a no coffee DH...he works from home and seems to make several pots during the day. I really try just to have my one cup in the morning to wake up and be social, but it is hard when that lovely smell of brewing coffee is going. Not sure we could go decaf....

skihorse I feel for you since I've been on a diet healthy eating plan since October. The only way I could make it was being able to find treats for myself. Try really good dark chocolate (I like Green & Black 85% cocoa solid)...it is lower carb than milk chocolate (less sugar added) and just three squares (59 cals) will give you the whole chocolate high. (I knowit's not a chocolate button, but it's better than nothing!) The trick is not to eat it allI'm still working on that one.

Sorry--somehow this has turned into a non-humourous, vaguely practical post. Must work on the humour. Maybe I need to drink more gin.

Cosmosis · 29/05/2009 12:48

Shitty timing trigger sorry about that.

triggerhappybaby · 29/05/2009 14:03

The shittiest. However, putting the past firmly behind me and looking to the future a bit.... can I ask a novice's question please? If I mc'd yesterday (which I did), does this make today day 1 of my cycle?

SarahAbroad · 29/05/2009 14:41

I'm so sorry trigger. That is horrible timing and I am sending you positive thoughts....

I wish I knew the answer to your question. You might look at fertilityfriend.com--they have some good information on the "mechanics" of the cycle and it seems to be pretty straightforward and not too prescriptive.

skihorse · 29/05/2009 14:43

trigger congratulations on your extremely powerful uterus and vagina... tell us, have you been practising with ping-pong balls - tricks learned from a "work your way around the world" trip before uni?

As for your cycle, I'm not 100% but I think you're good to go again already - however I don't know if that means CD1 was yesterday or a week ago when you started bleeding... but you certainly wouldn't be the first to conceive the first cycle after the miscarriage.

skihorse · 29/05/2009 14:45

trigger sorry, I didn't mean the above comment to sound so flippant, I know you're not in a nice position - but I don't think the D&C would have added anything remotely positive to the experience.

Cosmosis · 29/05/2009 17:02

Well, it's 5 o'clock and DH and I are off for a drink after work and a meal out. Have a fun Friday night everyone.

triggerhappybaby · 29/05/2009 17:19

@ skihorse

I never thought the first time I was complimented on my vagina would be by someone I'd never met on a chat forum... will inform DP that there is simply not enough tubular appreciation in my life and to rectify this. I can't wait to see his face

Got to stand me in good stead for labour though n'est-ce pas? The newborn is going to fly out like a projectile missile!!

SkaterGrrrrl · 29/05/2009 23:35

Welcome Nocoffeenoworkee and triggerhappybaby.. hope you're okay trigger, be kind to yourself.

I applaud the term "fascist woman-oppressors of the Daily Mail" but then I am a Grauniad reader.

Skihorse the clinic experience sounds really hectic, fingers crossed it happens for you guys by Nov! As for buying tampons to tempt fate, I raise you buying festival tickets for a festival this July....

Well chaps could we BE any less pregnant?

Nocoffeenoworkee · 30/05/2009 09:35

[Yawns loundly] Sooo, DH rocked up at 3:47 this morning with a large volume of booze inside him, collapsed into the marital bed (normally banned at this stage) then snored until 4:45. I am especially bitter as I went out with the girls last night and consumed 1 whole pint of beer. Darling sleeping beauty is still asleep at this stage and wholly unaware that his moniker on a TTC forum is now FH.

skatergrrl and skihorse I see your festival tickets and tampon multibuy and raise you flights to NY for an all-out-planned-for-yonks trip of a lifetime with my best friends (who do not know that I'm TTC) in October. Thankfully I didn't get preggers last month as that would have invalidated my insurance for being more than 20weeks in October. Knife edge stuff...

cosmosis loving Hasbean! You can buy green unroasted beans and a home roaster...and I thought grinding my own was a tad pretentious for a Grauniad reader.

[winds up excitable, prone to licking and bed frolicking spaniel puppy and opens door to FH's lair]

SkaterGrrrrl · 30/05/2009 15:35

Secret dog weapon! Evil genius...

New York sounds amazing - have you been before? SkaterBoy and I went this year for the first time. If you are pregnant by then it will either be public knowledge and you can shop for baby clothes and eat lots of lovely food - or if you're newly pg you can cite a detox and skip the cocktails.

I havent told my girlfriends we're ttc either and I am bridesmaid at a wedding abroad in December.

SkaterGrrrrl · 30/05/2009 15:36

Argh just noticed I posted my last post twice, is there an echo in here?

triggerhappybaby · 30/05/2009 15:54

Sooo there are quite a few of us who are a) extremely un-pregnant, b) read the Guardian, c) grind our own coffee, and d) drink a lot of gin. God, I can't wait to find out how many of us have Next catalogues

NCNW love the idea of New York. I've been to Boston a few times which is great for shopping but a little bit more sedate and compact - a bit like Manchester to New York's London. Plus Cape Cod is just round the corner and that is a soooooper place, especially I believe for the kids that we don't seem to be getting round to having!!

triggerhappybaby · 30/05/2009 15:55

BTW just come back from Asda with some Blackberry Gin. To be recommended, with ice and some Bitter Cranberry fizzy. chin chin!!

cheggers · 30/05/2009 16:03

i fear you will all be a bad influence but i'm going to join you anyway.

mid thirties, white walls, wooden floors etc.etc. but spent at least 6 months living like a fucking mormon after taking heed all the TTC advice.

recently fell off that ridiculous wagon however after finding out husbands swimmers aren't up to much. so living is all a bit more relaxed now [winesmiley]

looks like we'll have to go the IVF route though. bah!

can't stand gin, but you can pass me one of those bellinis. marvellous.

cheggers · 30/05/2009 16:07

oh and "FH". brilliant

Nocoffeenoworkee · 30/05/2009 18:18

Ahh, welcome aboard cheggers, and wishing you all manner of good fortune with the IVF.
Believe it or not canteloupe bellinis are on the menu in the NCNW house this evening due to a surplus of melons and a random bottle of prosecco on the premises [passes cheggers a well deserved bellini]. Given that I'm a few days off OV have decided to tuck into a really naughty shouldn't-be-eating menu tonight - rare venison, cheesecake and lots of lovely booze. In your face DEFRA.

PS - FH has resumed DH status after decidedly ignoring a richly deserved hangover and properly getting on with a very decent Saturday

SarahAbroad · 30/05/2009 18:40

Welcome cheggers and good luck. I'm pretty new on here myself, but I am pretty sure the most important qualification is an appreciation of either gin or gin subsititutes.

NCNW - what time is supper? Can we bring anything with us? Canteloupe bellinis sound gorgeous! (Do you just use canteloupe and bubbles or do you add a liqueur?) And kudos to your DH for redeeming himself so quickly.

@ trigger, I am feeling you with items a-d! Although think it's bubbles for me tonight (DH's 40th celebration), instead of gin.

I hope all the lovely ladies have a WONDERFUL Saturday night!
