Morning Ladies,

I've been PMSL with the dildocam, the dog hair (yes, skihorse, I think you win laughing is better than crying award).

Triggerhappy and Nocoffeenoworkee, welcome. Triggrhappy, I'll keep fingers crossed for you--hope things work out for you.

I've been weaning myself off the cheese and wine because I had to wanted to lose weight for the wedding. But my God I want cheese NOW. (I've only just gotten back to the gym after the wedding honeymoon break...I swear, if I weren't thinking "Must keep BMI down, just in case" I would be at the cheese shop washing down blue cheese with red wine chasers instead of heading to yoga class....)

I love slummymummy! I must remember to use that expression with all my friends who will be horrified that my (hopefully soon-to-be-not-imaginary) children's clothes don't come from Selfridges.

Oh--and speaking of ultrasound eagle eye grandmothers to be...my mom is a midwife, so I am very grateful right now that she is safely on the other side of the Atlantic. She would probably smell the whiff of folic acid on me and know we were TTC.

Have a lovely day all!

x Sarah

Cosmosis · 28/05/2009 09:42

I love all the still skiing tales. I am the same re my bike. DH and I spend a lot of time working out exactly how many friends we have to palm our precious BOC onto whilst we head for full day rides out in the hills.

Oh and am totally up for the forbidden foods support group. I mean, it's a sin to eat a steak that isn't rare and how on earth can anyone live without blue cheese??

I even have my G&T strategy sorted. Pour gin into glass. rinse round, pour into DH's glass. Fill up 1st glass with tonic. Voila - essenceofG&T .

skihorse buy the tampons. Definitely.

PS a friend of mine did a 1/2 marathon and a ski holiday whilst pg, and also cycled most of the way through. It CAN be done.

triggerhappybaby · 28/05/2009 09:48

My DP has insisted I sell my very fast motorbike as apparently they do not do maternity leathers, for whatever reason.

In fairness he has sold his too, so that he doesn't leave the child without a father. Or doesn't leave the child with a father who doesn't have a licence for a year...

He has breezily dressed this situation up to look like we need to liquidate some assets for the anticipated house-move. The man is sneakier than a bag of weasels.

triggerhappybaby · 28/05/2009 12:30

Well ladies, as per other thread my non-pregnancy has been confirmed. Got to go for D&C tomorrow.

Not in too bad shape - had already done grieving for it over the weekend. So I feel like I'm legitimately in this thread now - to conception and beyond!!

I am drinking vodka lime and soda. At 12.30.

VeryAnnieMary · 28/05/2009 13:02

Oh trigger, what sad news. Enjoy your vodka, make sure you pamper yourself a bit this week. How is your DP with it? - I know he was still hoping.

triggerhappybaby · 28/05/2009 13:15

He's quite an alpha male but I think he's gutted. He got all tight lipped about it earlier like he was going to cry which is something I've never seen him do. He really thought I was making it out to be worse than it was, and because I hadn't actually passed the majority of the stuff he thought he was still seeing it on the US picture, so when the doc said I'm afraid it's not good news, he was really sad. He's made me promise that we'll try again.

Strangely I feel like he's really warmed to this having more babies lark, despite his first two both being adults now. I feel we may have got off to a lukewarm start when I fell pregnant but now he's firmly signed up to the idea. He had his babies when he was really young (19 and 22) so he's still relatively young himself. His mum said she finally thinks he is actually ready to have kids

Cosmosis · 28/05/2009 13:43

So sorry trigger look after yourself.

Aussieng · 28/05/2009 14:26

Hi to the new comers. Sorry about your news Trigger. Definitely have a good pamper this weekend. Sounds like you definitely found a keeper in your DP anyway.

LOL at Donttry being outed as a "baby duster"

I have blue cheese and red wine almost every day so that's going to be hard to give up anyway. But I confess that I think I may have a tendency to become overly precious about what you can/can't eat - you'll have to keep me on the straight and narrow. I defo do not want to be that person who goes into a cafe orders an OJ and then askes the waitress "oh is it pasteurised?"

PS - sorry to my DBF if you ever reads MN but you really did drive me crazy when you were pg and did that

triggerhappybaby · 28/05/2009 14:35

pffffft at you-can't-eat-this-you-can't-eat-that.

The only concession I made to being pregnant was to drink decaff, as I am partial to about 20 cups a day and it seemed sensible to not try and gestate a coffee bean. I made myself a list with the word 'No:' at the top and then wrote down everything some fascist pregnancy website said I shouldn't have. By the time I got to the end of the list I realised they only wanted me to eat grilled chicken and steamed vegetables (which is, strictly speaking the ONLY thing women are allowed to eat to make it look like they are at least trying to conform to society's ideal) so I threw it away, went out to dinner and had salmon with hollandaise sauce, followed by chocolate mousse and a cheese board with smelly, blue, and goat all represented.

This is a pet subject of mine btw

skihorse · 28/05/2009 14:38

I'm so sorry trigger - as the others have said - do look after yourself this weekend and I hope the D&C isn't too awful.

Well if you're in charge of eating, I want to be in charge of sport. I'm quite saddened that a girl in my office has abandoned her exercise routine lest the baby fall through her gusset and down her trouser leg.

triggerhappybaby · 28/05/2009 14:46

skihorse I'm seeing it as a positive thing, if that's not too weirdo. It never developed so all I'm doing is getting rid of a sac of fluid (which TMI ALERT I think I might have already seen the back of on my walk home after being dropped off at Boots to get some mattresses). I never thought of it as a baby as such so yes it's disappointing and I spent the weekend irrationally cursing my own uterus, but now I feel ok and I want it over and done with so that normal activity can be resumed.

I'm generally a glass half full person anyway, and while we're on the subject, who had my gin last?

Cosmosis · 28/05/2009 14:59

Sorry trigger, passes gin back reluctantly.

triggerhappybaby · 28/05/2009 15:03
Aussieng · 28/05/2009 15:43

Did you finish the vodka?

TMI's not allowed!!!!

Reminds me of a friend and I once discussing oral sex during AF and her saying in a loud whisper - "I mean - there are CHUNKS"

SarahAbroad · 28/05/2009 16:24

Trigger, I am so sorry to hear your news. It sounds like you have a great partner. Give yourself the time (and gin/vodka) you need and hang in there.

Nocoffeenoworkee · 28/05/2009 18:42

Oh Trigger, that's all very sad but 10 gold stars for the PMA.

And Aussie, with that level of detail you are going to shine on the childbirth thread when the happy day comes. Incidentally, in the childbirth context, doesn't 'thread' take on a whole new dimension?

I too have turned to decaff... it was a sad day in the nocoffee house but it turns out that it's not all that bad when you grind yer own. Fnnar. And DH hasn't spotted that he's drinking double decaff espressos yet. I feel so guilty... I never wanted to be the fun police.

Skihorse you are truly an inspiration! Maybe we could set up a MN alpine ski chalet? We're all pretty good on decor (neutrals, F&B) and the apres ski selection would be powerful (if limited to wine and gin). Whaddya say?

donttrythisathome · 28/05/2009 22:39

Welcome newbies! And sorry to hear your news triggerhappy but glad you're planning some more action asap.

And thanks for reminding me about giant buttons. DP introduced me to them over the weekend - I nearly had 'is 'and off! Having another bag now

Just the one bag?

laurielou · 29/05/2009 08:31

Morning ladies! Welcome newbies, trigger sorry to hear your news. Love your attitude though - well done.

Stuff what you can & can't eat, I've gone slightly bonkers on the food front. I'm trying to lose weight & go to "Fat Club". This week gained 2lb. B*llocks! So I've now polished off wine, big bar of fruit & nut, cheese, pate & tomorrow I have a wedding to attend where I intend to go blind with all the lovely goodness that is naughty food & alcohol.

Love chocolate buttons, but can't eat them without thinking of my male gay pal's recommendation for using them during oral sex to make chocolate flavoured spunk. If only................what a happy day that would be. I'd never get PG then though.

Anyway, hope you all have a good day & a lovely weekend, x

VeryAnnieMary · 29/05/2009 08:38

Sorry donttry

triggerhappybaby · 29/05/2009 08:38

What does your gay friend say about Starburst Choozers? Nowt, I hope

laurielou · 29/05/2009 08:50

I think Starburst Choozers may chafe.......

Nope, all other chocolate is oral sex association free - fill your boots!

triggerhappybaby · 29/05/2009 08:59

I reckon then I need to head down the road of something that would really hurt, oral sex-wise, to ensure there are no connotations. I'm thinking Dairy Milk with Crunchie bits, Dairy Crunch or summat with nuts in. Actually scratch that last one. No, not scratch I mean ditch.

Oh I've got myself into a tangle now

skihorse · 29/05/2009 09:03

You're all making me cry.

i) I am on a low-carb diet to try and shift some poundage - because according to the fertility clinic, being 2 stone overweight is a greater fertility crime than not having sex.

ii) I'm abroad and I can't fucking get NORMAL chocolate buttons, never mind special ones. Bitches.

Well I'm a wicked person, got my period yesterday afternoon which wasn't a massive surprise but it's always a kick in the teeth. Went horse-riding and my bloody horse was ovulating which meant the two of us were in foul moods - not a good result! So went home and got stuck in to the gin (OH tending bar!) and laughed uproariously at the Tourette's programme. YOUR DOG'S GOT TITS!
