skihorse loving the male pride from your DH - I hope the nurse looked suitably impressed!

I know I said above that I would test to rule it out, but I really don't think I'm doing anything other than kidding myself.

I am just so fucked off about it all. 5 bloody months off the pill and I've had one period and a hell of a lot of psycho hormones to show for it, I swear I am going mad my moods are so bad. I would actually feel better if I'd had 5 cycles and no bfp because at least I would have had the chance to conceive. I just feel like time is flying past. It's our 8th wedding anniversary next week and if you'd said to me on the day that I wouldn't have children by now I would have been gutted

I'm sorry to moan at you all but I just feel like utter shit about the whole thing at the moment. My poor DH must think he's got the wife from hell at the moment.

Cosmosis · 27/05/2009 14:23

xposts, you were not seriously asked if he ejactulates in your vagina????

the worrying thing is that if they asked that, does that mean that some people do not know that you need to to get pregnant????

donttrythisathome · 27/05/2009 15:13

Welcome along Rhubarb and welcome back makingafamily. best of luck with the IUI. One of my friends had it done a couple of weeks ago, so can imagine the excitement and nerves.

PMSL at BoC. VAM seriously I nearly wet myself.

Comso I think its sounding promising for you, maybe you're preggers! It is so hard not to get panicky though isn't it, even though I keep telling myself we have a few years to play with.

Feck, must tell DP to stop squirting in my ear, THAT's where I'm going wrong.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!Babydust and fairysprinkles girlies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What we need here is some glitter. And perhaps some tickers.

donttrythisathome · 27/05/2009 15:25

Oh Christ. Like a big black angry ticking biological clock of DOOM

Positive thoughts, donttry, positive thoughts

that's exactly it! clock of doom, I love it!

Cosmosis · 27/05/2009 15:27

Sounds kind of harry potterish doesn't it? Cosmosis and the Clock of Doom.

donttrythisathome · 27/05/2009 15:52

LOL. It could be a summer blockbuster.
We can all star in it as our "sunday night drama" characters. Only with turkey basters filled with pre-seed in place of wands. Oh, or dildocams .

Now, I must do some work!

My kindred spirits, I have been reading through all your posts, and on the strength of your sheer good humour have bought myself a beanbag from B&Q to flop down onto. I hope you don't mind if I pour out a gin, open a bag of Giant Buttons and join you?

Quick biog: I'm 35, shuddered at being a rent-a-womb all my life, met swoonsome chap (already a dad of a 20 and an 18 yr old so clearly can keep children alive), defences came down, one cycle and shazzam BFP.Except that actually I think I mc'd at the weekend after bleeding non-stop for a fortnight (I tell you, the sheer variety of stuff my pipe has expunged this past week has been nothing short of impressive). Anyway I have a scan tomorrow, which was one that had been arranged for a fortnight to find out if I was small4dates or if the embryo had thought 'to hell with this, it smells like a brewers apron in here'. No intention of going in with any false hope, unlike DP bless him, and am absolutely prepared for it to be a non-starter so now am firmly back in the frame of mind to see what happens. Not obsessing, penduluming this way and t'other, but wtf let's give it another go

There is talk of buying an estate car. This has shit me up somewhat.

triggerhappybaby · 27/05/2009 17:30

I don't have a pet.

triggerhappybaby · 27/05/2009 17:31

Or any idea how long my cycle is (total reliance on contraception since 15).

skihorse · 27/05/2009 17:50

triggerhappy the giant chocolate buttons can probably make up for lack of pet... but probably harder to fit under the foreskin.

Have you POS'd on another one to put your mind at easy any? It's not totally unknown for women to bleed at first - is the blood browny or red?

Anyway, all the best for tomorrow.

clockofdoom hahahahaha! Tick tock tick tock you selfish mid-30s career bitches!

triggerhappybaby · 27/05/2009 18:08

nah it's been red for 2 weeks. did a test at the weekend when I was bleeding the heaviest and the conception indicator had gone down from 3+ to 2-3 weeks. I know they aren't totally relaiable but I just don't have the kind of good fortune that would have made me the one that bought the duff test iykwim. Am not strung up about it, these things happen. I got pg so soon after forgetting to take my pill for a few days that my body was prob still overrun with contraceptives. No matter.

triggerhappybaby · 27/05/2009 18:08

Oh! How rude of me!

VeryAnnieMary · 27/05/2009 18:12

Welcome trigger! Will raise a gin or three to your magnificent shoulder-shrugging, pass-the-cream cakes attitude. Keep us posted.

Nocoffeenoworkee · 27/05/2009 19:37

Hello - I should explain that I've changed my name from Rhubarbcrumblecake to Nocoffeenoworkee on the basis that someone at work knows me as the former and this is not the way I wish to inform HR that I'm preparing for extensive leave!

Thanks for the warm welcome, now that I've read about dildocams and dog hair in uncomfortable places I feel I should share a bit more.

Having obsessively trawled t'interweb and panicked wildly for about ooh, 4 minutes, DH and I recently convinced ourselves that I was up the duff (by accident) after I missed one pill in over 12 years of taking it and felt a bit queasy. Oh, they don't tell you it's not that easy at school do they?! Anyway, of course I'm not, and now we're on the big pendulum but currently thinking we'll give it a go and see what happens. It's a delicious secret to everyone, especially Grandma 'Ultrasound Eagle Eyes' To Be, so we're very excited.

I live for food and love wine, coffee, really stinky unpasteurised cheese and very rare steak. Anyone else think they'll be in need of a forbidden foods support group later down the line?

makingafamily · 27/05/2009 21:02

Is it bad that i'm relieved that i'm not the only one who has been fuelling my body on caffeine and alcohol (and in my case nicotine) for the last decade? I was sure at my first dildocam they were going to find mini bottles of Rose instead of follicles?

triggerhappybaby · 27/05/2009 21:03

I've just had some dolcelatte AND parmesan. In the same meal. So stick that you fascist woman-oppressors of the Daily Mail.

Interestingly my mother guessed I was pregnant by the fact that I refused one of her vitamin pills, despite me never ever having shown any inclination to procreate. That woman is as sharp as a tack.

veryannie help yourself to the gin but them as uses the last buys the next.

skihorse · 28/05/2009 08:15

makingafamily No, don't feel guilty. From the age of 18 to 33 my body mostly subsisted on caffeine, vodka and marlboro lights - you cannot be alone!

nocoffeenoworkee nice name change - in fact I am only able to type this morning due to coffee. I think we've found "our people" here, I see this thread as a pre-cursor to the SlummyMummyDecade. I am probably going to nibble on stilton and lick unpasteurised italian goat's cheese, horseride and maybe even ski during pregnancy. When Poffet is born it will be told the word "NO" and it's unlikely to have a half a million quid sweet sixteenth. I'm not even going to force it in to a hundred pre-school events. I may well end up being a push gymkhana-mummy though!

I had a dilemma last night - I was in the Dutch equivalent of boots and they're doing 3 boxes of tampons for 5 euros. Now, if I buy these I'm going to get the BFP (big fat preggo), but if I don't buy them it'll be a torrent right?

Nocoffeenoworkee · 28/05/2009 08:27

making a family I completely share your concern, especially when I wash folic acid down with wine - DH's face is the very picture of pride.

skihorse I too will be skiing (and forcing progeny into ski boots ASAP). Am currently hatching an evil, marketing plan involving non-skiing grandparents and a 'winter wonderland' holiday with the grandchild. Babysitting sorted. DH was on skis by the time he was 3 so can't imagine we'd have to endure the shared holiday approach for too long!

skihorse · 28/05/2009 08:45

nocoffee haha we too have the "winter wonderland" holiday planned. Although my favourite resort does full creche for the same price as a lift ticket...

All - Just remembered yet another patronising and stupid question from the fertility clinic. "Have either of you been sterilised?"

skihorse · 28/05/2009 08:56

nocoffee I am sooo glad I found you - I mentioned on a different forum that I wanted to ski whilst pregnant (if I was pregnant at that time of year obv.) and the names I was called - unbelievable! It's hard to explain to a non-skiier how you're NOT going to get wiped out by a beginner when you're going 50mph off-piste!

If you're interested, there's a great website for ski women: www.theskidiva.com - some very very good skiiers there, coaches, racers, instructors etc. They do an annual Diva bash and this year we all went to Summit county in Colorado; Vail, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Keystone, A-basin
They've got a lot of skiing whilst pregnant mamas including one who went in to labour whilst skiing (full-term) and shouted out Ski Patrol saying she wasn't ready to go to hospital because it was a bluebird powder day!

triggerhappybaby · 28/05/2009 09:12

Thank god! I snowboard and I was wondering, back when my baby was due on new years eve, whether I could get away with booking somehwere in the alps with a creche for the end of Jan

I've never even told DP.
