I used to wax my own eyebrows but had a couple of ahem "accidents". The new beautician won't wax them and they do look good but I flinch and wince and my eyes stream! Give me a full bikini wax any day!

Mountain biking sounds fantastic Cosmosis, I suppose when the time comes my hobbies will also have to go on hold, although a doctor friend told me that it's virtually impossible to lose the baby in the first 3 months with sport as the baby is so well buried in the abdomen it would take falling on a javelin to put it at risk! I just can't imagine sitting still my entire pregnancy, the girl who sits next to me has given up ALL her activities which I think is really sad. There was a girl at my gym at around xmas time who must've been in her last few weeks and she'd be going mad on the x-trainer - good for her (imo).

Cosmosis · 29/04/2009 13:28

I think each individual has to decide I suppose. I still plan to do some easier mountain biking early on - I can pick rides I know are fairly gentle. I also plan as I said to carry on road riding, but will do a lot more running and hill walking than I do at the moment instead. Also have a turbo trainer (thingy that turns your bike into a static bike for training) so that will get used a lot too I'm sure Like you I can't imagine sitting still, it would just drive me potty.

donttrythisathome · 29/04/2009 13:32

Off work sick with the flu with waaaay too much time on my hands. Just did a self-pluck job on my eyebrows.....big mistake.....HUGE...

OP posts:
Cosmosis · 29/04/2009 13:41

swine flu??

wildfig · 29/04/2009 14:12

Can second the threading - I had mine done at the Blink bar at the Army & Navy Stores last month and apart from the unnerving sensation (like someone ripping sellotape off your face, complete with tearing noise), it's brilliant and has lasted ages.

Am faint with awe at cosmo's exercise regime. The phrase 'easier mountain biking' is an oxymoron, surely?! Labour will be a doddle for you - clearly your pain barrier is somewhere in the high altitudes!

I am surging into the green zone from about today; not ideal, since OH and I are working in different places until Thursday night, and then we're having a big night out on Friday. G&T jokes aside, I really don't drink at all unless I'm out, which at the moment is about once every three months so alcohol-cutting-back hasn't been much of a pain for me. I did almost give up coffee for the first six months of trying, but I was so totally unpleasant without my morning caffeine that the chances of conception were lower than ever, thanks to my unapproachable Oscar the Grouch mood.

To be honest, after a year of anti-climactic stick-peeing, I am so fed up with the whole baby thing, and so doubtful it's ever going to happen that I can't deny myself the odd night out. Isn't that how most people get up the duff anyway? Off their heads and at the wrong time? Frankly, I need the cheering up. And if I ever do get pregnant, I'll just say I'm driving...

Cosmosis · 29/04/2009 14:32

Yup, wildfig you need to get rip roaringly drunk and shag in a back alley somewhere I think.

wildfig · 29/04/2009 14:41

Hmm, unlikely to be Mr Wildfig's baby then. His idea of alfresco sex would be 'with the window open'.

skihorse · 29/04/2009 15:36

wildpig ROFL! Yes, I too cut back on all the naughty things at first - now I've a much more laissez faire attitude towards it all.

I think if I get made redundant I'll get a BFP!

wildfig · 29/04/2009 15:40

Wildpig - OMG, Freudian. skihorse you can see through the internets and tell that I'm eating frozen leftover buttercream icing...

donttrythisathome · 29/04/2009 17:12

Don't think it's the piggy flu - though I did get the fear alright!!

Just found out my FSH levels are high, presumably due to old age pensioner eggs . Trying not to worry too much though and will push for a re-test next month.

OP posts:
SkaterGrrrrl · 29/04/2009 21:04

Sorry to hear about your FSH levels donttrythisathome. Try and relax till your next test. Nature is pretty crazy and anything can happen!

Re excuses for not drinking: I am still drinking when out with friends. I figure there's plenty of time for surreptitious sobriety once we conceive.

Good excuses are cystitis (drinking makes it worse) and driving (ditto).

I can always say I'm keeping SkaterBoy company. He just signed up to run the Amsterdam Marathon in October so he will be having a very sober summer.

donttrythisathome · 30/04/2009 15:34

So Skatergrrrrrrrrrrrl do we have another one in Holland then (8ski* is over there too).

My eyebrows are looking fine today...if I tilt my head a bit and squint my eyes...phew...

OP posts:
SkaterGrrrrl · 30/04/2009 15:45

Nope I'm in North London - SkaterBoy chose the Amsterdam Marathon because it's flat!

Love Holland though - been to Haarlem & Maasterich. And my mum is South African so I can understand a bit of Dutch.

Cosmosis · 30/04/2009 16:09

I'm sure you'll be hugely relieved to know that we're not camping this weekend after all, so my a-game doesn't have to be played in a tent!

laurielou · 30/04/2009 16:16

Phew, that's a relief, cosmosis

I have a lovely new mattress being delivered tomorrow - just in time for a long lazy Bank Holiday weekend, which also happens to coincide with (potential) OV!!!!

HURRAH!!! BRING ON THE A-GAME!

Cosmosis · 01/05/2009 09:58

skihorse how are things in Holland today? very shocking events

laurielou lol at the new mattress! it'll be getting plenty of testing

skihorse · 01/05/2009 13:21

Cosmosis I was in town earlier and everyone's talking about it - consensus seems to be that it's a shame the driver has died as they'd have liked him to live to be tortured a little. But seriously, it's very sombre.

Cosmosis · 01/05/2009 14:43

Are there any clues as to why he did it yet?

skihorse · 01/05/2009 18:05

Just that he'd lost his job and was due to be evicted today... however I fail to see how that's personally the Queen's fault - it's not as if she's responsible for any financial quagmire - and as Royals go - the Dutch are not mega mega wealthy!

Cosmosis · 05/05/2009 10:09

Hope you all had good BH weekends?

skihorse · 05/05/2009 11:31

Got my period which wasn't what I wanted. I've got an appointment with my GP on Thursday to discuss it. I'm assuming I will be told I am i) fat, ii) ancient!

Cosmosis · 05/05/2009 11:45

Oh bum good luck with the doc.

wildfig · 05/05/2009 12:53

good luck skihorse Am sure you won't be told you're fat OR ancient!

My ovulation is now having a laugh. It seems my eggs are avoiding my boyfriend, like two people who've fallen out skirting around each other at a party. We work in different places for half the month, so I organised myself to be 'with' him for days 13-16, my usual ovulation dates, at great nightmare to my current deadline, and whaddyaknow? The egg refuses to drop until day EIGHTEEN, when we back on different side of the country. That's unheard of. Now I'm hoping that enough of his swimmers lingered around long enough to do the job, although it's doubtful.

I should add that I'm seriously envious of those determined ladies who can manage multiple sessions over the key times - not so much the A-game, as the A-league, if you will. My bf looks positively Victorian if I try to come on to him more than a couple of times, although after thirteen years and some droughty spells, it's hard to sugar-coat baby-sex in that magical Zita West gourmet sex sauce. Sigh.

laurielou · 05/05/2009 13:16

skihorse sorry to hear that, good luck at the docs.

Had a lovely Bank Hol weekend, all to plan, lots of lazing around & christening new mattress . So I'm now on the worst bit - the 2ww.

wildfig you sound very organised!! I bought OPK tests this month, they're still sitting in my drawer. My boyf is also suspicious if I turn into a sexual predator for a couple of days per month - like you 13 years down the line - but he hasn't complained so far. Don't think he's really twigged that its baby-sex either, bless him!

Hope everyone else is ok, x

wildfig · 05/05/2009 13:59

I'm not very organised at al, but i've been doing my BBT chart for the last year so I've got a reasonable idea what's going on - OPKs don't always seem to match up though (and are knuckle-whiteningly expensive), so now I just guesstimate a rough five day green spell in the middle of the month and go for it then. I love my boyf more than I can say, but he's always been more of a panda than a stallion, and although I'm trying to disguise my predatory intentions, after a year of this baby kerfuffle, the tension does mount. So to speak.

Also, two more friends now up the duff with baby no. 2- one of whom I'm sure didn't tell me herself, for fear of upsetting me.
