Lol at the sugar coating baby sex. I made some saucy comment to DH last night and he just looked at me sternly and said "I know what you're doing".

Ahh romance

PistachioLemon · 05/05/2009 14:41

'sugar-coating baby-sex in that magical Zita West gourmet sex sauce'

The best sentence on MN ever!

We should syndicate this thread to HBO or something!

VeryAnnieMary · 05/05/2009 17:48

chuckling at sex-sauce and stern talking to!

hope we're all well, sorry not posted for a bit, work a bit loony at mo and have had dreadful pmt so trying not to remind self about the ttc rollercoaster

SkaterGrrrrl · 06/05/2009 20:44

I just shamelessly inform SkaterBoy that he is on "booty duty" (you need to pronounce duty like the Yanks do: dooty).

So far he's happy to oblige but we only just started this TTC lark.

My bank hols was ace, thanks. Had the first BBQ of the, went to the Watford 10k and went to the pub a couple of times.

Still laughing at "like two people who've fallen out skirting around each other at a party". Brilliant!

donttrythisathome · 07/05/2009 09:05

Hi everyone its nearly the weekend again yipee!

I tried the "its business time" on my DP - think it just scared him.

Just got a notice from the library saying Zita West is waiting for me (the book that is) - not sure if I want it. I fear she would really get on my wick. The Toni Weischler book is great though.

Hi everyone, just checking in to catch up.

I'm on the 2ww, but just not sure if I've missed the boat this month. May still be time....don't really know when I ovulate (I'm pretty rubbish really). Bought an OPK for this month. But unless it can detect ovulation from its sealed box in a draw its not been much use. As I said, rubbish! And I was so determined to take myself in hand this month (oh, that doesn't really sound right, does it ).

Anyway, will continue with my A-Game, though so knackered at the moment it may slip to a B- Game. Hey ho.

Haven't read any books yet - donttry let me know how you get on & if you recommend any. When I say "haven't read any books" I'm talking conception wise!!! Reading a fab book at the mo - "Thousand Splendid Suns", can't remember author, one who wrote the Kite Runner.

Anyway, I'm rambling.....

Have a good day everyone, x

laurielou · 07/05/2009 09:26

Oh My God, should read "sealed box in the drawer". How embarrassing.

I did say I was tired..........

Cosmosis · 07/05/2009 09:39

Oh yes, that is a great book, I preferred it to the Kite Runner I think.

laurielou I'm with you this month on not knowing re ovulation. I've had twinges in my left side since my period finished, so no clue what that's all about. Have ordered the thermometer and book from boots, so will be charting from next month.

Skatergrrl I love booty doooty

PistachioLemon · 07/05/2009 10:01

Ahha, well I finally finished both the Toni Wechsler and Zita West books...and my verdict is...

Zita West - kind of judgey and too faffy/slightly hippyish for me to bother with all her recommendations. Overall message - do the deed all the time and you will hit an egg at some point.

Toni Wechsler - pretty good with the added bonus of shocking colour pictures of CM and cervixes. Overall message - if you're too knackered/can't be bothered to do the deed all the time you CAN time it but you need to chart.

donttrythisathome · 07/05/2009 10:17

That sums it up pretty well Pistachio. I totally ignored my cervix all my life but now its my new best friend.

I'm actually reading some fiction for a change now - Fugitive Pieces by Anne Michaels.

I went to my GP this morning to talk about the implications of my being 35 and barren, i.e., not pregnant after 6 month's of effort.

I am stunned. I have an immediate referral to the infertility clinic for hormone tests for me and wanking in to a pot for him. She was really positive though and said that my regular cycles were an excellent sign, especially as I was hideously overweight a few years ago but even then had very regular cycles.

They'll do these tests first, then if I'm still not pregnant in another 6 months they'll move on with the more invasive ones with a long-term view towards IVF.

I just cannot believe that after just 6 months the Dutch health system are taking this on board.

She didn't even patronise me by asking if I was having sex with my partner - in fact she seemed more interested in whether my wanting and him being a man, ergo bovvered was causing us to fight which I thought was refreshing.

donttrythisathome · 07/05/2009 10:34

Sounds great ski

Even though I, ahem, "misspoke" (a la Clinton) and told the GP I had been trying for a year, DP still can't get an appointment until 28 July to wank in a pot!

I'm off to the GP again today though to dicuss FSH levels (dreading it) so might push for a referral then, which might speed up the pot wanking.

Cosmosis · 07/05/2009 10:56

That's good news skihorse, good luck with the tests.

And hope your appointment goes well donttrythisathome, I agree, push for a referral now.

VeryAnnieMary · 07/05/2009 11:39

Hey y'awl!

Skihorse - great stuff about quick referral (I'm mentally referring to self as "barren" too!) Am thinking I ought to go have some tests - am on day 37 this cycle, aslt one was 49 days, and I don't think I'm ovulating - should really go and have tests done to at least tick that off. Funny - Dh and I both are convinced it is not going to happen for us, can't time the A-Game due to long cycles, so haven't even thought about whether it's right for us as we don't think it's even possible. Very Eeyore. Oh well.

Hadn't even thought to read a book on it all - would be like admitting we are actually trying.... Re-read This Thing Of Darkness instead (great novel!)

A-M x

VeryAnnieMary · 07/05/2009 11:40

Isn't BD short for Booty-Dooty?

Cosmosis · 07/05/2009 11:41

I thought it was baby dancing (puke).

skihorse · 07/05/2009 12:17

MDF= Miserable Duty Fuck

skihorse · 07/05/2009 12:18

Just phoned the hospital and we have our appointment on 26th May which is pretty quick. I had to give her OH's details and she said 85? don't you mean 75? ack.

VeryAnnieMary · 07/05/2009 12:54

85 - gawd I've got socks older than your oh! go, you!

BD - to me it'll always mean booty-dooty... I never liked the other meaning (perhaps cos dh can't dance...)

One of my best friends is about to give birth - having contractions as I type. Not very jealous about that aspect tbh but ever-so-excited about her new arrival (when it finally emerges).

skihorse · 07/05/2009 13:37

BD is a little twee I think... unless of course you only have the sort of baby-making where you're wearing your finest negligee, he's seduced you, there's soft lighting and the bed is covered in rose-petals. However, in my experience - the ladies who require this scenario don't actually have sex on any normal given day!

I refuse to even contemplate the actual "birth" until I'm around week 34.

VeryAnnieMary · 07/05/2009 13:50

Me too skihorse - in denial

donttrythisathome · 07/05/2009 13:55

VAM the long cycles must be driving you crazy. Probably just your body adjusting to coming off the pill though (as I'm sure you know!)

Is it your friend's first - exciting!

My friend (who has two kids, both unplanned) said they're like farts as you only like your own.

Yay, kids as farts, yet another reason to TTC!

OP posts:
skihorse · 07/05/2009 14:02

donttrythisathome If I don't think about it, it might not actually happen. In Holland they announce a birth by sticking a stork in the front garden - this works for me!

laurielou · 07/05/2009 15:51

skihorse fab news at the quick referral & OH 85 - talk about having it all!! (Well, kinda).

Kids as farts......hilarious!

VAM not overly jealous of your friend at this point, may be in a day or 2. I wish her luck.

Absolutely refuse to think about birth. I liked that - was it Carlsberg beer advert - where woman politely coughs & a baby appears? That's going to be me......

donttry good luck with your appointment. I'm still too scared to go - makes it all a bit real then, & afraid doc will laugh when I tell her I'm TTC #1 age 36. Ho hum. DP also didn't sound keen at pot wanking. I even tried telling him there would be sexy nurses & a wank mag. Nope.

Think I'll stick to my fictional books for now, I don't feel the need to get up close & personal with my cervix.

laurielou · 07/05/2009 15:53

Re-reading my post there's a lot of denial going on...

(sticks fingers firmly in ears & starts singing - la la la)
