TTC - Clomid Thread

MamaMaiasaura · 16/01/2009 23:09

Hi just wondered if people ttc on Clomid wanted to join this thread unless i have been stupid and missed one.

We are due to fertility clinic on 22nd and expect to go on clomid again.

We have 2 dc. Ds1 is nearly 9 and was concieved without fertility help. THis was a big surprise as have PCOS and was told would never conceive naturally.

Ds2 was conceived after 1 course of clomid 50mg. My day 21 test was awful and still no period after 45ish day. Was put on progesterone to induce bleed. Didnt happen as was pregnant.

Was also on metformin but not currently, waiting for all clear next week. I have dodgy lft generally on medication and also bfing.

Ds2 is 1 now and still breastfeeding. Hoping this will not hinder any treatment as really want to continue this too. I am now 33 so fertility decreasing too.

I dont have a cd currently as all up the shoot so waiting to see what happens really.

I hope not clure but for the good reason lol. Do you think I should wait till Monday in case AF comes? Don't want to waste a round of clomid and no amount of research online seems to be saying clomid works without AF. Think this is more stressful than the 2ww

Clure · 16/04/2009 08:57

stac it is stressful for you, would be in a flap too if I were you. I personally would prefer wait till Monday or until you can talk again with your consultant. Especially if you feel confused by the advice. hope af arrives soon for you. I managed to make it to CD 100. The only difference i feel is boobs feel a little bit heavy (sorry tmi) but thats it really.

MamaMaiasaura · 16/04/2009 09:45

Stac - I got bfn's with ds2 on clomid. I have ov'd late hence the progesterone diodnt fall after taking provera to induce period. After waiting over a week for period to arrive i did preg test and it was postive. Personally i would wait till you are at least a week or so after provera just in case. Also clomid can damage baby so best to avoid taking if chance of pregnant.

am on tablet 3, decided to take them in the morning rather than before bed. No symptoms except for irritability really apart from my period seems to have stopped on day 4, is this normal? I usually bleed for 5-6 days.

Also very hot in bed last night, sweating so much I woke up and thought I'd wet myself!

cheekymonkeywanted · 16/04/2009 14:04

hi stac, so far so good, still early days only 2 months, but a good strong heart beat , and they let us listen to it aswell which they dont usually do. one month at a time, so next scan at 3 months...

thinking of you all..baby dust.

boo1981 · 16/04/2009 15:59

beanieb · 16/04/2009 16:26

Hiya Boo

good place to look for all the abbreviations is here

islegrin · 16/04/2009 16:33

Well it's CD5, day 4 of tablets and day 2 of injections, and I've been drowsy, dizzy and can't get rid of this headache. Oh and nausea started today... I got paranoid this morning that maybe that was "spotting" that started on Sunday instead of my period, so I took another test - thankfully BFN because I was worried about doing damage to a potential bean with these meds. So I'll just deal with the side effects. They switched me from Clomid to Letrozole this cycle to see if we can keep a thicker lining and I already feel the twinges of follicles developing. Scan is booked for Tuesday to measure and count. I feel a bit (or more) blue today, but I'm not sure if it's just because of work stress or because I don't feel well. Best to you all and I'm looking forward to reading more good news!

boo not sure which ones you are referring to, but here are a few:
AF= Aunty Flo/period
2ww= two week wait between ovulation and testing
ov=ovulating
BFP/BFN= bold face positive/negative test results
POAS/HPT= pee on a stick/home pregnancy test
DC/DS/DS/DH/DP= dear child, dear son, dear daughter, dear husband, dear partner
CD= cycle day
BD= baby dancing/sex

I must have taken too long composing my message and beanie beat me to the list - LOL! Thanks!

beanieb · 16/04/2009 16:38

hiya

I think the stats might have missed a day as I am on CD 4 now

Can anyone with experience of clomid tell me - does taking the pills stop your period? Mine is usually 5-6 days long but seems to be stopping on day 4 and hasn't been as heavy as usual.

paddington21 · 16/04/2009 16:43

Hi all!! Am moved was stressed but am ok now. Am about to ovulate too Am sad though as have no internet at home et... BT are making me wait for my hub!

Annoyingly more so i cant stop! i hope everyone is ok baby dust to all

xxxxxxx

islegrin · 16/04/2009 16:45

beanie I just updated the stats for sgibbo and myself because they were a day off too - so I think you are right, somehow we lost a day, but Clure's is right I think: magic 100

So I'll leave that to the next person to update.

As far as Clomid goes, I don't think it stops a period in progress, but it does shorten them and make them lighter for me, and I hear that from others as well. So that may be what you are experiencing. Hope that helps.

stac14 · 16/04/2009 16:57

Hi Awen,
How are you? I am 9 days from my last provera tablet, as there is no AF my consultant said to go ahead with clomid but I am going to wait till Monday

Clure How are you? I have sore boobs at the moment but I dont normally get them with AF although a lot of ladies have said they got them after taking clomid.

I am going to wait till monday to take clomid then that will be a full fortnight since last provera. Also all my bloods cd21, 28 and 35 said no ovulation and BFN so not holding out much hope for a bfp, nightmare lol

Hi to everyone else hope your all, we have just spring cleaned the house all I can smell is bleach and its making me feel sick lol xxx

clairebear88 · 16/04/2009 20:25

Hello everyone! You have all been so busy whilst I was away. It has taken me ages to read through everything and it will be a while till I am familiar with all you new girls!

Poland was lovely. It was a lot warmer than here. We were in a wooden house in the woods and it is hard to imagine that I was sitting out on the veranda in the sunshine yesterday evening when I look outside at the British drizzle!

Still my garden is flourishing and I can't wait to get out there once this rain stops.

I took OPKs with me and had a definite surge on Mon (CD16) we BDed on Fri, Mon and Tue and then no chance on Wed and we are too tired now so maybe we'll give tomorrow a try. My AF usually comes 2 weeks after a positive OPK so am officailly on the 2WW, but I think that the first week is not too bad.

Have found myself being really irritable and nagging at DH over last two days. I can feel myself pushing him away. He is feeling hurt I know. Am thinking that this has something to do with TTC and that I am taking my stresses out on him without meaning too. Am now going to work v.hard at being nice to him

Stac the choc was lovely, but I have eaten way too much and need to really eat healthily for a few weeks now! Brought some virtual choc back for you

Stac and Clure ((((hugs)))) to you - how frustrating. We will definitely have to have a virtual party on here when you finally get your AFs!!

Cheekymonkey Really good to here from you and so pleased for you

Awen what's going on in your world. Please share your woes with us if it will help xx

baby dust to all ***

[sleepy smiley] - I'm off to bed so goodnight.

ginstar · 16/04/2009 21:21

Evening Ladies

Hope everyone is doing ok. I'm now on the ominous 2ww, I feel so guilty for wishing the time away but I'm just hoping and praying that we've managed to suceed with our first cycle.
DH is trying to get me to be realistic but I'm not doing very well !

I think we may still be a day out with the CD list but I wanted to check before I updated it ! Does anyone know?

Babydust to all

Gx

Clure · 16/04/2009 22:24

hi all,

mummycat you sound really positive - lovely to have you back, sounds like you had a good hols

stac how you doing? any signs? It's doing my head in a bit. DH is going away for a couple of days at end of month and was hoping it wouldn't clash with ov, fat chance of that!! I hope af comes for you this weekend.

paddington glad your move went ok - stressy time for you!

islegin hang on in there with the side effects, tough isn't it?

Hello to the rest of you and hoping you're all well. I did a spin session and now my legs are tired. Competing in running and cycling event on saturday.

DD has given me nits, we've got a moth infestation in our wardrobe and only half a bathroom (its a building site with a toilet that needs a bucket of water thrown down as a means of flushing) other than that I'm grand!

stac14 · 16/04/2009 23:07

Hey mummycat Welcome back from hols, good to hear you had a good time. I find I get ratty to dp a week or two after taking clomid, he says I can be like jeckyl and Hyde so think its common. It will be worth it. How did dd enjoy first hols abroad? x

Hey clure no signs, still got sore boobs. When will you phone your consultant? I read the info leaflet that comes with your clomid and it says that if you havent had af for a while then its fine to start right away so I'm not so nervous about it now, but will wait till Monday just in case she arrives

paddington Good to hear your sorted, BT are a nightmare, hope you have managed to relax

islegrin and ginstar think the list is out but I will need to check my diary for my exact day lol, wheres awen shes great with the list lol

Cheekymonkey So happy for you. Have you been telling people yet? hope you are getting plenty of rest and relaxation

I have decided this month is going to be stress free after all the carry on of lack of af, so I found my old relaxation DVDs and DP and I are going to start them when I start the clomid, any other suggestions for relaxing? xxxx

stac14 · 16/04/2009 23:26

Hi stac

re your comment:-

"I have decided this month is going to be stress free after all the carry on of lack of af, so I found my old relaxation DVDs and DP and I are going to start them when I start the clomid, any other suggestions for relaxing?"

Make love when you both feel like it and carry on with your lives in the meantime. Try not to let ttc take over as it won't do either of you any good at all if that happens.

With best wishes

Attila
