Hi just wondered if people ttc on Clomid wanted to join this thread unless i have been stupid and missed one.

We are due to fertility clinic on 22nd and expect to go on clomid again.

We have 2 dc. Ds1 is nearly 9 and was concieved without fertility help. THis was a big surprise as have PCOS and was told would never conceive naturally.

Ds2 was conceived after 1 course of clomid 50mg. My day 21 test was awful and still no period after 45ish day. Was put on progesterone to induce bleed. Didnt happen as was pregnant.

Was also on metformin but not currently, waiting for all clear next week. I have dodgy lft generally on medication and also bfing.

Ds2 is 1 now and still breastfeeding. Hoping this will not hinder any treatment as really want to continue this too. I am now 33 so fertility decreasing too.

I dont have a cd currently as all up the shoot so waiting to see what happens really.

Hello monkeysbum I understand your concerns. Just to let you know though - I took clomid 4 years ago and got pregnant on the first cycle (I have a gorgeous DD aged 4) I went through all the tests and eventually they discovered abnormal hormone levels. I think I was ovulating but not consistently every month.
This time round I'm also contending with absent periods, over 40, decreased egg supply, needing provera to kickstart periods. Looking forward but also a bit scared to start the clomid.
beanieb Just to reassure you, there are not always side effect, last time round I didn't get any and didn't put on any weight (up until about 16 weeks pregnant!)

stac14 · 13/04/2009 18:32

Hey Clure Any af yet? Mine still hasn't started was thinking I will call docs tomorrow if its still not here.

hi stac no af here. fed up of waiting - bet you are too?

beanieb · 13/04/2009 19:17

Thank you clure I feel a bit better now.

How do you lot deal with diet and drinking while taking Clomid? I am thinking I might just give up all alcohol, not even a sneaky glass of wine, and drink more water and grapefruit juices etc. Is that the best thing to do?

cheekymonkeywanted · 13/04/2009 19:18

Beanie & MonkeyB - not exactly same as your situations but I was not ovulating every month so was advised that clomid would hopefully ensure ovulation every month and the fertility nurse said it is meant to improve the quality of the eggs although she admitted she didn't know how? As I'm 40 my consultant wanted me to produce 2 follicles per month to increase my chances of viable pg. Might that be true for either of you?

I put on about a stone before I started clomid due to comfort chocolate scoffing. Help!

Good luck all x

Stac and Clure any signs of AF yet???

Well I guess I can safely color my hair now, hopefully it will be the last time I can do it for 9-10 months or so.

Has anyone had any experience with Letrazole/Femara? My doc is suggesting it to me instead of Clomid for this cycle. As long as you aren't CURRENTLY pregnant when taking it, it sounds fine - and doesn't have the side effect of reducing CM or keeping the uterus lining thin. Plus it seems to leave your system far faster than Clomid.

Clure · 14/04/2009 10:26

islegrin sorry haven't heard of Letrazole. Does it do the same kind of job as clomid? No sign of af here I'm afraid. Beginning to think I'm a bit of a freak!
stac any af for you?

fruitbowl it's tough being 40 and ttc, I keep feeling time is really running out. how are you feeling?

tetleytea · 14/04/2009 13:09

I'm on my first cycle of clomid - taking it because of rather wonky ov patterns.

Wanted to know if cm and basal temperature work the same way that they normally would, or does clomid change things?

Also, will ov sticks ie LH levels work the same for indicating ov? My gynae said that i should ov 5 days after taking the last clomid pill. Will it be that exact?

Feel very in the dark, so thanks for any info!

beanieb · 14/04/2009 14:55

hiya fruitbowl, I am 39 (Just) so I think my age is a factor in my infertility though my blood tests have all suggested I am ovulating along with my scans and fertility monitor so I think I am the same as you TBH.

stac14 · 14/04/2009 15:20

Hey clure~ and islegrin
Still no af was very tempted to buy a pregnancy test just to rule it out, but ginstar said her af took 11 days to come after provera so I am holding off to see what happens. Islegrin I have heard of letrozole it is used for women with breast cancer but was also found to have the same properties as clomid, as you say without the side effects think it is bigger in america than here.

Welcome to the thread tetley cm can be affected by clomid as it sometimes makes it less sperm friendly, lots of women use opk's and get proper readings, thinks thier not very good for people with PCOS, as for basal temps I'm not sure as I don't temp, hope that helps

How are the rest of you ladies? xxx

stac14 · 14/04/2009 15:26

Has anyone heard of this? I am on another thread and one of the ladies suggested this to help CM

www.tryingtoconceive.com/eggwhites.htm

Hi Try the above site it tells you all amount the egg white thing see some below

Egg whites can provide a mucus-like environment which is sperm friendly. Take an egg out of the fridge set it on the counter for approximately 1 hour, so it can reach room temp. Before DTD, crack open the egg separate the yolk from the white and insert the room temperature white gently into your vagina To prevent infection, be sure to insert the egg white immediately. After you crack open the egg DO NOT leave it at room temperature for more than a few minutes. I understand that egg white is used in labs for sperm storage!
Worried about bacteria? It is the yolk not the egg white that would carry bacteria.

islegrin · 14/04/2009 15:40

stac thanks - I think you are right on about Letrozole, but I definitely haven't heard of using chicken egg whites...

Keeping my fingers crossed for both you and Clure to see some progress after provera.

Westkazza · 14/04/2009 15:54

Hi All,

Hope everyone is well. rubbish day today. Got results back and no OV this month . Still no AF so think is back on the Provera. Joy!!.

The egg white thing is crazy!! but hey if it works. Although no jigging around once inserted as you may end up with meringue!!!

islegrin · 14/04/2009 16:10

Westkazza LOL Meringue!!! Sorry to hear about the other bit - hopefully provera will kick AF in the arse!

Lisylou1980 · 14/04/2009 16:18

Hi ladies
Well no update here, got bloods on friday, still feeeling a bit funny down there so not sure whats going on. Could be the fact that i had a car accident on saturday and it jilted me or it could be something happening down there and the egg is moving around!!! yeah ok who am i kidding probably the accident.
The egg white thing is quite strange and lol at the meraguine thing.
Fingers crossed for you all. xx

stac14 · 14/04/2009 16:34

lol at merangue, I said scrambled eggs but same difference, just goes to show how deparate people are for babies doesnt it? Don't think its for me.
Westkazza Sorry to hear about no ov, whats your consultants plan are they upping your clomid for your next cycle?

lisylou Sorry to hear about car accident, are you ok? When do you get your bloods back?

I phoned my GP about no af he said basically that he doesnt a clue and to phone my consultant who is off this afternoon so I was advised to phone the early pregnancy unit who I am waiting to phone back who knows very strange, xxx
