Anyone coming to join me?

Hi Rhet, where have you been. Is the month you aren't TTC, or are you back in business again (in a wholesome way, not a 'Pretty Woman' way)?
We are on day 6 now, and I am thinking of just doing the every other day thing, since I can't even find a thermometer.
Did someone say they had done the ferning thing with the microscope?
Where can I get a microscope, that sounds a hoot!

rowingboat · 15/09/2008 16:44

Did you do every other day this month Cece? I seem to remember fairly frequent bding being mentioned. Any help gratefully received.

cece · 15/09/2008 16:51

This month:

We did ever other day till near to ov then everyday. Missed the day of OV and then did bd the day after. Then DH went away so that was it.

Also lost about 5 kilos this month...

Plus after ov took 50 mg of Vitamin B6

Not sure if any of it helped but I also noticed I had two positve OV days on the test. Whereas I normally only get 1.

rhetorician · 15/09/2008 17:00

hi all

I've been skulking about - but vvv. busy at work (I work in a very large university with seemingly an above average quota of gormless, clueless students). Hi rowing. Yes, I am sitting out September - temped until ff told me that I had ovulated which was handy - i have a weird thing where one month I ov late day 13/early day 14, and the next it's usually day 15...so next month I'm going early as I think I've actually missed it a couple of times (which makes me feel better about my BFNs, illogically enough). Anyway, best finish off preparing my boring class for tomorrow (well I find it a bit boring even if it is all new to them) and then need to rustle up something for tea.

Thrilled with cece's news. Cheered me right up, that has.

rowingboat · 15/09/2008 17:38

I won't bother losing 5 kilos, but am intrigued about the B6, why did you take it post OV.
I remember reading it helped something, possibly CM, if taken before OV, so I got a high dosage, but it made me feel awful, so I stopped.
Rhet, I hope you don't drag yourself into the lecture theatre tomorrow rolling your eyes and doing huge yawns and then give a big sigh just as you start.
I actually did have a lecturer who was so depressed by it all, he really couldn't be bothered. He would tail off and stare then sigh and continue. He was nearing retirement though and was the head of school, but was forced to give an incredibly out of date lecture. Quite famous for being appalling though.
So, where are you in your cycle now? When are you back?

cece · 15/09/2008 17:56

Not sure why after ov, think I read it somewhere! LOL

cece · 15/09/2008 17:57

Oh yes that's right, read it extended your luteul phase....

rhetorician · 15/09/2008 18:19

I'm a very enthusiastic lecturer - one year even managed to fall off the podium which was clearly the funniest thing they'd ever seen . But they've put up H&S guard rails so that particular entertainment option is no longer available to me, alas. And whilst mes oeufs may be close to retirement, I certainly am not. CD19 (I am so looking forward to the time when I can't answer that question without looking in my diary and counting a lot...) and back on the wagon for early Oct. How's it going for everyone else?

rowingboat · 15/09/2008 18:24

Cece! I'm glad it had something to do with fertility not making your hair grow longer or something.
Come on Rhet, I'm sure you can make if over that rail!

fruitbowl · 15/09/2008 19:29

Congrats CeCe - excellent news for you and the 40+ clan here! Whoop whoop! Or whatever the youngsters say these days!

Rowing I've used a microscope and found it no blinkin use whatever, I just didn't see any significant ferning so it's in the back of a drawer. I do know a friend who conceived using it tho so obv does work!

If you're interested in having minbe at a bargain price, let me know?? Would give it away but it cost a few quid - it's one of these

daisy5 · 15/09/2008 19:53

Congratulation cece - that is fantastic news.

What a stressful few days you must have had with those faint lines.

All the best. Daisy

rowingboat · 15/09/2008 23:11

Fruitbowl - Hmmm! That looks interesting. I can't quite see what you need to use it, are there separate sticks or something? You didn't do a great job of selling it though.
Aren't there lots of other uses you could find for a mini, lipstick microscope? Like, er, erm, hmm....yeah I can see why you want to sell it.
How much would you want for it, out of curiousity?

roquefortlover · 16/09/2008 11:45

Hi all! How is everyone? I am feeling a bit fed up today, not sure why. DH is away with work for the rest of the week and for some reason I feel stupidly tearful and convinced we are not pg this month. Against all logic really as my period isn't due until a week on Saturday so it's impossible to know anything now isn't it?

I think it's worse this month because we are soon going to have to take a couple of months off ttc to avoid a possible pg mucking up a big family meetup next August. So it all adds to the pressure I guess.

Anyway, I will stop moaning and get on with the washing/form filling/decorating which is what I'm actually meant to be doing today....

rowingboat · 16/09/2008 13:20

Hi Roque I'm sending you a big hug. There really isn't a lot you can do now, you have done your best.
Poo to the family meetup. As long as you can get to a hospital if you need it, just go heavily pregnant. Then you can lounge around and have everything brought to you on a tray.
I'm just online sorting out a passport photo for the LO so we can take him with us, wherever we decide to go. He isn't being very compliant and I only have one decent, facing forward, eyes, open, with no tongue sticking out photo.
I'm just wondering whether Rhet managed to fall over the barrier beside the lecturn today.

roquefortlover · 16/09/2008 13:50

Thanks for the hug rowing. I know you're right! Thing about family do is that it's a holiday abroad for 2 weeks so travel either v pg or on/around due date or indeed with a vv tiny baby will be nigh on impossible...oh well

Passport photos are a bugger, took me several goes with dd's first one but have now found a lovely photographer who knowsexcatly what they are loking for. Scary Post Office lady said ds2's passport pics were the best baby ones they'd ever seen ( in terms of their fitness for purpose not ds2's loveliness I think although he is of course very lovely too!)

I love the image of rhet hurdling across that rail, stage diving into her eager audience

rowingboat · 16/09/2008 15:27

Silly old family, going abroad. How inconsiderate of them! Tiny babies are the best to travel with, just sleep all the time.
I have now finished faffing around with Kodak gallery and have ordered some photos, I hope they are OK/ fit for purpose.
I'm sure they did mean your DS is very handsome!

rhetorician · 16/09/2008 18:49

hi all - sorry to disappoint but no crowd surfing today all small seminar groups so no opportunity for acrobatic tricks. Roque yes, big hug; but there are nice things about a month off - wine, pate, blue cheese (lest you need reminding!). And I don't miss the TWW - although I do keep forgetting that there's no possibility I am pg this month and wondering idly about one twinge or another. Mostly age, then. Just make sure you do some things you really like if you do have to take time off. I always think of it as useful preparation time...

must go and cook dinner - mushroom risotto, yum.

roquefortlover · 16/09/2008 19:53

aah, crowd surfing, I knew there was a proper phrase for it...yes, I think I will need a plan for the months off - assuming not pg of course - I was thinking of exercise, pre-Xmas diet and possibly a night away with dh!

Know what you mean about phantom twinges ...

rowingboat · 16/09/2008 21:42

Boo! Rhet, that would have been totally rad! They could have passed you around and then back onto the podium at the end of the lecture. I think I need a sit-down!

xserialshopper · 17/09/2008 17:22

HI all

I'm planning to do a 'cece' this month.

My Clearblue Fertility monitor has stopped working I phoned the helpline, but it's not under guarantee, so they can't help me I've got 5 unopened boxes with 30 test sticks and 12 loose ones hanging around. What should I do? I can't really afford to buy another one as I have already slurged with the stuff that I have got

As a side note....... I also have 9 ebay cheapie pregnancy tests in my bathroom (this is plus all the clearblue ones that I have) You see why I can't afford to buy another monitor

OP posts:
rowingboat · 17/09/2008 19:01

Xserial - I don't remember, do the Ebay cheapies work for you? If you order tonight you should get them by Friday.
They do work for me, I get some kind of line from about day 11 and usually a positive on day 13, which kind of fades until day 14. Not that it does me any bloody good.
I hope hope hope this is your month. Everything crossed. Will have to uncross my eyes, to drive home tonight though.
It's day 8 for me and we haven't done any bding. Even though we planned to start on day 6. What is it with us? DP went to the gym until late, DS stayed up late, I felt (still feel) a bit ill. OK, enough with the excuses. Definitley tonight and will go for every other night until day 13 and then 100 times on day 14.
Whatcha all doing?

cece · 17/09/2008 20:58

LOL xserial - what on earth do you mean . Hoping you mean get a BFP!

Rhet - I am very much enjoying the idea of you crowd surfing... Might be useful in the student bar on a Weds night?

Rowingboat - how are you?

roqueforlover, fruitbowl and daisy5 - hello!

I am currently in frantic knicker checker mode. Really trying hard not to get too excited as some sort of preparation in case I mc. Mad hey? Should really just try to enjoy each day...

Good news is I have my booking in appointment sorted for the 15th Oct. Seems ages away though!

roquefortlover · 17/09/2008 22:09

HI everyone!

xserial, can't imagine what I'd do without my CB monitor - I never had much luck with ov sticks so you have my sympathies. If by some bizarre quirk of fate i am pg this month you can borrow my monitor as well!

rowing, hope you are off for a purposeful evening with your dh. No slacking now!

cece, lovely to hear from you and glad all is going well.

I am on about day 19 I think - still feeling queasy but sore boobs now which is always a sign of AF for me. So looks like no luck this month....bugger. Had massive autumn clothes shopping spree today though to compensate, well massive for me - 2 tops, 1 cardi and 1 pair trousers. Cheered me up anyhow .

Oh yes, and I wee'ed on a CB monitor stick too - dunno why, just thought I had read somewhere about it showing 2 lines if you were pg and thought I had seen 2 last time i was pg... anyway only 1 line which made me although what I think it shows heaven knows. I would never be able to confess this obsession to anyone in RL so very glad you are all here!

rhetorician · 17/09/2008 23:25

cece I am afraid that my wednesday nights in the student bar days are long over...have to preserve some form of mature dignity these days. 15th October is not that far away, but I can see that time might pass rather slowly.
rowing you have to go for it; this thread has form...
roque isn't that part of what MN is for, telling people our darkest secrets and knowing that someone will hold our hands (electronically) anyway

roquefortlover · 18/09/2008 19:37

Blimey, it's quiet in here!! How is everyone?
