Anyone coming to join me?

Hi lovely 40+ ladies. Seen a few of you around this virtual town before so want to come and say hi here again.

I'm not officially TTC again yet - just working up to the idea. Had D&C 5 weeks ago for MMC and have been bleeding lightly ever since. Just found out have a Group B strep infection so am on antibiots. AF not shown up yet but think I might have OV in last few days.

I can't entertain the idea of BDing at the mo as when they took a swab at the docs last week with the speculum I nearly hit the bleedin roof in agony. Jeez! Put me right off. Wincing just remembering it. Ooof!

Hoping to feel up to it again soon though so will loiter here...

Mmmmm on the exercise thing, I am the laziest creature in the world but had managed to get my lard around the block doing a bit of walking / jogging before I got pg last time so am going to get out there again. I have a lovely purple bike but it's Soooo hilly round here (hence the walking / jogging!)

Oh. P.S I saw my lovely reflexologist last week who reassured me I would conceive again no prob. She had one of her kids in her 40s and was so positive about it I could have kissed her. Passing some of her lovely vibes to you all x

giggly · 12/07/2008 23:11

fruitbowl, I started to go regularly for reflexology as I heard on here that helps the old reproductive organs, however fell off that bandwagon to. I am off work for a week now and we aim to go camping next week so I guess there will be little bd.

Is it just me or is there little bd outwith ov period? My dh gets his hopes up at all times in the month, when frankly I would rather have a cup of tea and read my book.

I have mentioned before but both my mother and sister conceived when they were 42.5, so there is hope yet.

msdynamo · 13/07/2008 01:01

Hello, I would like to join you all. I'm 44. Like fruitbowl I had an mc five weeks ago, after conceiving naturally. My body is back to normal now after AF (I had acupuncture to help) and I'm ready to ttc again. I did BD'ing four or five times during my OV last week, while on holiday. So hopefully, who knows My best friend gave birth to a healthy baby a few weeks ago, at age 44, so I think about that whenever I feel like giving up.

Only problem is I've got used to drinking wine again, it's so hard not to.

xserialshopper, I had a friend who had tried to conceive for years then conceived right away after her tubes were unblocked. She was 43 and now has a lovely DS.

heron22 · 13/07/2008 09:49

hi all, nice new thread , just dropping by to say hello to you all

i am doing well, a bit nervous about the CVS scheduled for wed next week.

fingers crossed for you all

cece · 13/07/2008 19:02

hello to everyone, it has been a bit busier on here lately!

heron - did you get a high risk screening result? Sorry - seems I missed that... Hope CVS goes well for you.

Well DH's birthday bbq went well. Only one heavy shower which didn't last too long. Had a few Pimms so was feeling quite mellow yesterday evening.

Popped out to the shops to get some last minute bits at lunchtime (yesterday) and had a prang with the car in the car park Could have done without that tbh. The other car looked worse though! So my car will be off for repair soon... Hope it is back in take to take us to the airport. The other lady wasn't vey nice though and started repeatedly saying things like this is going to cost you a lot of money . Isn't that why we have insurance ?!

Anyway CD 30 for me and nothing yet but I am extremely touchy in a PMS type way and getting spots so think she is on the way

xserialshopper · 13/07/2008 19:03

Hi everyone

Welcome msdynamo and Welcome back fruitbowl. I'm really sorry about your mcs.

I've been reading Marilyn Glenville's latest book 'Getting Pregnant Faster' and she recommends some supplements to take - if your interested you can get the book from your library. She also recommends a healthy eating plan but fat chance I'll be doing that - I'm a crisp addict.

Hi Heron sweetie. How are you? How's the litte bean? How many weeks now? And did you have a nice holiday??

It's cd 20 for me but no bd tonight as I've fallen out with my dh[sigh] It would be sooo much more easier if we could leave the 'falling outs' to between cd1-cd6.

I've been reading the thread 'Clomid Success Stories Please' but for every 25 posts there is only 1 success story I wanted to read something uplifting.

You know - I find it so strange that I get happy and excited when I read on here that someone got pg[strange emoticon]

Well I've babbled on, and it seems like all you lot post in the mornings

xserialshopper · 13/07/2008 19:07

So CeCe what did you give your ds for his 40th[nosey emoticon] was it bding everyday for 1 year?

OP posts:
cece · 13/07/2008 19:10

He wishes!

Ended up getting him a wii which is actually what he asked for. I told him there was no way on earth I was buying one of those - so hope he will be surprised when he gets it - his birthday is during this week.

Still hasn't arrived yet! Hope it comes soon.

xserialshopper · 13/07/2008 19:13

I don't! I hope af stays away and you get a BFP. I wont send baby dust as I heard that it makes people sneeze

I'm going to sell my dh into £70 million pound football slavery when he is 40 in 2010. I'll spend the money and he can play and watch footie to his hearts content

OP posts:
cece · 13/07/2008 21:05

LOL = no I meant hope the wii comes soon!

rowingboat · 13/07/2008 22:15

Hi Fruitbowl, it's nice to hear from you, I'm glad you are feeling up to talking to us.
Hi MsDynamo, I love your story about your friend, that's really cheered me up.
Cece - that's such a bummer: the crash! Stupid woman, maybe she meant she didn't want you to get your insurance to pay, but wanted you to go and get another job at night and pay for her car personally, to punish you! What a silly old wotsit!
I've got quite a few years until my DP is 40, so I could start saving 20p a week and get him a curly wurly and a Beano for his birthday.
So anyway, it's day 28 for me and I'm quite grumpy with sore boobs, so expecting AF soon. It started very late at night last time, so it will probably either be tonight or tomorrow morning.

cece · 13/07/2008 23:04

seems like a few of us due af over the next few days....

zoo123 · 14/07/2008 10:03

You may remember me, I was Birthdaycake who started the original thread TTC for the over 40's. I had ds last week and we are all getting on well. I'm 42 now and in total it took 3 years to have this baby. I didn't ever post much but thought it might offer a little bit of hope to those of you who are still trying to conceive and those new ladies who joined later on.

xserialshopper · 14/07/2008 10:13

Thanks zoo123 for updating us. It's so great to hear 40+ success stories - and congratulations on the birth of your ds (Did you not change your name to OrganicBirthdayCake - or did I get it all wrong and that was someone else?)

Rowing I've got my fingers crossed for you - and if Heron pops back over from the ante natal or due 2009 threads I'm sure she'll hold your hands for you (she has 'lucky' hands)

Hello everybody,

Haven't posted for an age as we got married at the end of June then actually managed a 5 day honeymoon in France without the children. First time I'd been away from my 15 month old.

AF arrived on day 29 (last tuesday) after a mc at 4+5 last month. Will have another go ttc in a few days time. Have been trying to take temp every day but am terrible at remembering. Don't know if I actually ovulated last month but hoping I will this month.

Hi msdynamo. I'm 44 too. Are you ttc no 1 or do you already have children?

cece · 14/07/2008 19:32

zoo123 - good to hear a success story.

ladymac - what a month or two you have just had. Congratulations on the wedding. Sorry to hear about your loss though.

Well as predicted I have started spotting so looks like AF is on her way.
Have a doc appointment booked for Friday so will ask her what can be done, that is 5 cycles now...

fruitbowl · 14/07/2008 22:06

Hi everyone.

Giggly I'm def with you on the BDing being pretty much exclusively for practical purposes - what a shame eh? Great news about your mum n sis conceiving in their 40s. My reflexologist said the females in your family give an accurate indication of your chances. Sods law for me, my mum had a hysterectomy at 32 - .

Hi MsDynamo (waves). How was your hol (aside from the BDing that is? ) I think a few glasses of vino is alright if it helps you relax.

Cece sorry to hear about your prang and the grumpy prangee! And hi to rowingboat did both your AFs put in an appearance then?

Hi XSerial - yes, sometimes I think TTC would be easier if I was talking to / in the same room as DH!!

Great news from zoo eh? Thanks for coming back and posting. Gives us all hope.

Ladymac Congrats on your wedding and sorry to hear about your MC. The good news is that you are partic fertile after a MC so good luck for this month.

Sorry to anyone I've missed out. x

msdynamo · 14/07/2008 22:59

Hello again, believe it or not I'm still on holiday, in Los Angeles. I can't keep away from
this site, which is a bit sad really In answer to your question ladymac I am ttc no.1, having had no kids earlier due to unsuitable partners in the past. Anyway, I'm here now and hoping for that much talked about increased fertility boost in the months following an mc.

Hi fruitbowl, good to see you again

heron22 · 15/07/2008 12:57

hi cece, hi X, hello All! sorry i have been busy at work and just catching up on all that has been going on.

we had a good holiday and now i am quite nervous about my CVS tomorrow at fetal medicine centre (prof nicolaides). i am getting my blood work done at 9.30am, followed by nuchal scan. they will then give me the result and i can discuss whether to go ahead with CVS or not based on the results.

i told DH that i want to get the CVS done anyway because of my age.

What do you all think? would you get a CVS if the odds come back very low for downs? or wouldyou get CVS done anyway just to be sure?
it is a difficult one, so i hope you can give me your opinions, please

other than that, nausea has eased off (thank God!) about a week ago. boobs still like rocks and so sore. typical really.

cece · 15/07/2008 13:08

Hi heron,

Well last Oct I had a high risk screening after nuchal and bloods were taken. My risk was 1:50. I decided not to have either the CVS or the amnio as I felt at 98% chance of everything being OK the risk wasn't high enough to risk having a mc.

The final deciding factor for me was that I wouldn't have aborted if my baby had Downs.

I then went onto mc at 18 and half weeks anyway so I know it was the right decision for me. She was a proper little baby and after testing I found out she didn't have Downs.

cece · 15/07/2008 13:11

Sorry meant to add that of course it is an individaul decison that only you and DH will know what is right for you.

heron22 · 15/07/2008 14:02

hi cece, thankyou for telling me your story and so sorry about your little one.

you are right, it is a very individual decision. not a easy one though.

on other matters how is TTC going with you? what cycle day are you on now?

cece · 15/07/2008 14:36

Not lucky this month. Started spotting yesterday so af is on her way.

To cap it off I got a letter today from some company wanting me to invest my baby's Child Trust Fund. I am about to phone them to find out where they got my name and address so I can put a stop to any more of this sort of mail. It was very upsetting this morning when I opened the post
