I like the expression about cracking a few eggs. It is true, isn't it? You are not giving up, either, are you, Jassara? I have to see fertility clinic at end Sept for tests, just to make sure nothing wrong. Scared to try for another little one before we get any results, just in case, yet the results can take weeks and weeks. Oh, what to do?

jassara · 04/09/2008 19:43

I have an appointment with a consultant end of September too. Not sure if they will do any tests as my GP said that they still consider 2 MC as normal. I feel the same about trying again before any results....I suppose i'm just kidding myself that they'll say take a junior asprin and everything will be fine next time!
All that said, i'm due to ov in a few days, so i'm still gonna grab DH and see what happens this month!!!!

Tabitha88 · 04/09/2008 19:51

Perhaps those telling us that two mcs are normal should try having them. Anyway, have you any idea what tests they might run? I've been reading up over the past few weeks as to what tests can be done but am not sure what the NHS likes to do or is prepared to do. Best of luck for your next try, by the way. I might be brave as well and just go for it.

jassara · 04/09/2008 20:09

I'm not sure either but I think it's blood tests and possibly a pelvic scan. There is a thread somewhere for recurrent miscarriages, maybe we should ask.

Good luck to you too and everyone else!! We will crack a good egg this time....

rhetorician · 05/09/2008 08:36

hope that all the tests go OK jass and tab and here's to cracking them eggs!

jassara · 05/09/2008 10:19

Thanks Rhetorician, i just hope they will do a few tests.

Has anyone ever ovulated as early as CD9? I had ewcm on CD6 while still on AF and my persona monitor has an O symbol today!

I'm sick of this rain, it's so dark and depressing...

Tabitha88 · 05/09/2008 15:15

Thanks from me, too, Rhetorician. Here's to the next eggs, may they all be fresh and healthy and lead to the longed for happy events.

rowingboat · 05/09/2008 22:47

Helloo everyone!!
X-serial how goes it? Do you feel OK, no side-effects? Do you have a check-up soon?
Cece how are your old bones?
Rhet, I'm glad you had a relaxing holiday, sorry about the AF, but at least you can talk to us - we completely understand.
As you say onwards and upwards, and you are going to be to busy to think about it soon anyway - which is good.
Hi jassara, I do remember your name. When were you last on here? Sorry to hear about your MC . I hope the odds are now mounting in favour of the next one being a good egg. I think I may have OV'd quite early some cycles, just based on CM and cramping, but I am so hopeless at temping I'm not certain. I bet I have been bding all the wrong days.
Tabitha hi, welcome to our lovely thread.

rowingboat · 05/09/2008 22:48

Oh and we are on day 23. I have sore boobs already, but this seems to have become a feature of my PMS in recent months. I wonder if it's just my age/hormones?

stripeywoollenhat · 05/09/2008 23:38

hello rowing - thanks for the encouragment. I find it totally infuriating the way that cycles change, as if symptom spotting wasn't traumatic enough. I generally have sore boobs from just after ov for about 5 days, after which they stop (well, not when I keep poking them to see if they are still sore ). Except last month, they stayed bloody sore. AND IT MEANT NOTHING! I've decided (easy to say before the TWW) that I've had it with symptom spotting (it sends me crazy crazy crazy) and if I do get pg I'm not going to expect to feel any symptoms until about week 6. Yeah, yeah, believe that, you'll believe anything.

rhetorician · 05/09/2008 23:40

oops - that last post was actually me, rhetorician - logged in on wrong computer - tired at end of long week...

rowingboat · 06/09/2008 17:05

Rhet
Totally agree, the symptom spotting that's for people who get pg after two attempts. If you take more than four or five cycles, you have to stop, otherwise you start to gibber and dribble.
I tell myself to 'stop it!' when I even consider a possible symptom. The thoughts still surface, but I have learnt to squish them.
We have been in contact with a couple of IVF places abroad, which make the procedure a bit more affordable for us. Think I will start a thread for a bit more information. Then if that doesn't work out after a couple of tries, I think we will start looking at adoption. I'm not being miserable, whatever happens, I hope to have at least one more lovely child, so feel quite positive that it will happen one way or tuther.

rhetorician · 06/09/2008 17:59

rowing - I think after the first two or three you actually have to work out a way whereby you can keep going but not go totally gaga - otherwise it takes over your life in ways that make the disappointment worse. Easy to say...whereabouts are you looking for IVF? I've heard there are places in Eastern Europe that are very good, but there'll be folks on mn who will know for sure (there's always someone on mn who knows ). Is there any way whereby you can check out success rates/quality of care etc? Are all clinics (in the EU say) regulated - I assume they must be and if so it should be possible to at least look at stats.

good luck - I'm not trying this month (a long story, but kind of a relief - no TWW at least, but also no chance of LO) so off out tonight for some yummy pasta and delicious wine hope everyone else has similar delights (according to taste, of course!) planned for the oh so precious saturday nights.

rowingboat · 06/09/2008 20:37

Rhet - enjoy the pasta and wine, and your month off.
There is a good forum called fertility friends (sound familiar?) and another, the name of which escapes me. I have had a really good response from one clinic - helpful, prompt emails, but hardly anyone has been to the clinic, which is making me feel very nervous.
We have another option in Poland - which I imagine would be very easy and quite cheap for flights.
When do your students return, is it semesters?

xserialshopper · 06/09/2008 21:49

rowing you make me laugh when you mention your attempts at taking your temp

I'm fine (thx for asking). We managed to bd mon, tue and last night. Might go for it again tonight

Hi jassara. As far as I'm aware I've never ov'd so early in a cycle, but stanger things have happened. I remember reading on here about one mnetter who got preggi about the 13th day off her cycle and then the egg was impregnated with another sperm around the 20th day (she was told this after the scan) and she is expecting twins. Don't ask me how they knew that the twins hadn't been conceived at the same time? Honest......

Nearly my birthday - the 7th. I will be 42, so better amend those stats X-serial.
I can't believe it is almost a year since I had that CP and nothing since. Doesn't time fly!

jassara · 07/09/2008 11:19

Hi X-serial hope your feeling better and you managed to get some Bd'ing in this weekend OMG TWINS-my sister has non-identical twins, it runs in the family

Hi Rowing good luck with finding the right clinic abroad. I live 5mins from Midlands Fertility Clinic, I checked their prices on investigations into recurrent MC's and I couldn't believe what they charge. I would look to going abroad too if I have to go down that route.
Hello to everyone else!

jassara · 07/09/2008 11:24

Forgot to say Happy Birthday Rowing!!!!Hope you have something nice planned

rowingboat · 07/09/2008 11:43

Thank you Jassara!
We were quoted around £3,500 by our local clinic and that is with a single embryo, which I wouldn't be keen on at my age.
I just don't feel they were in our corner, just rushed through the appointments and didn't go into any detail on my test results. They don't seem to realise how important this is to us, particularly for couples where the woman is in her forties.
The clinics abroad will transfer two or three at my age, to give us an increased chance.

rhetorician · 07/09/2008 12:57

rowing students back tomorrow in their droves...just made the mistake of trying to hang a door, resulting in the usual grumpiness and DIY incompetence. Why we don't just pay someone I'll never know (we'll have to pay someone now anyway). Happy birthday, by the way.

rowingboat · 07/09/2008 13:54

Thanks Rhet. Don't get stuck under a door will you!
Perhaps you could just make the doorway into an arch instead, or get some of those coloured ribbon curtains you get in caravans. [bleuch face]
I often find if you go back to a DIY disaster after a few hours or completely abandoning it, it doesn't seem quite so monumental.
I work in a university and our lot come back the week after next. Be nice to be busy though.
Right the rain has stopped going to make a dash for it. Whiizzz!

cece · 07/09/2008 14:50

hello all,

rowing boat someone on the temping thread was talking about using a clinic in Norway...

jassara - sorry to hear about mc

hello rhetorician and xserialshopper.

I am getting high temps at the moment on my chart.... care to take a look

AF due from tomorrow onwards...

rhetorician · 07/09/2008 15:14

those temps look promising cece...fingers and toes crossed for you.

xserialshopper · 07/09/2008 17:17

cece I agree with rhet, your chart looks promising. Isn't a rise in temperature like that suppose to be significant?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY rowingboat

Do you live in Walsall then jassara?

I suppose we should do a roll call of honour We've had quite a few newbies since this thread started. What do you lovlies think? Should we.....?

OP posts:
rowingboat · 07/09/2008 17:54

Ooo Cece, that looks good! I hope it is a good sign.
X-serial a think a new roll would be good.
