Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

I had a bit of a shock when I put my data into fertility friend though - we decided on the 9th July that we should ttc and had our first 'go' on 11th. The fertility friend calendar predicted that I ovulated on the 9th! (so I'm very glad we waited a couple of days or we might be expecting sooner than we had planned!!). Maybe it's not accurate though.

crunchynutter · 16/07/2008 18:31

It always amazes me slightly how people can know these things! the more i think about it the more hit and miss it seems! Then again- i am generally amazed at all things scientific! My sister in law has had a 4d scan of her baby and i cant get over it! Amazes me every time i look xx

Kalikaroo · 17/07/2008 08:36

Morning everyone - hope you're all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!

Here's some positive thoughts for everyone:

Linwin · 17/07/2008 09:41

Morning everyone,

Crunchy I am so sorry to hear that there is no BFP this month. We were all wishing it for you.
I will also be in the same boat as AF due in a few days and feeling very bloated and PMT'ish. Fingers crossed for us all for the next couple of months, then as Dawn says we can have lovely summer babies!

Oh and Kalikaroo welcome. I just wanted to let you know you are definitely not alone - my DH has got a severe dose of stage fright as well. I'm actually quite worried that hes not as keen as I am, unless its the pressure of having to "perform" which is getting to him. Either way its not very conducive to TTC!

Anyway, ladies, have a good weekend and lots of luck with the BD'ing

DawnAS · 17/07/2008 11:52

Hi Crunchy, Linwin, Kalikaroo, Summerbird and Flirty,

How are you all today?! Started to get some weird boob symptoms today and the cramps JUST WILL NOT STOP!! But I'm still holding out until next week to test...

Can you imagine how gutted I'm going to be if I'm not PG with all this weird stuff going on!! I'll assume that I've inherited someone else's body I think!!

xx

OP posts:
FlirtyThirty · 17/07/2008 13:24

Hey Dawn!
You really are having weird stuff...I'm very excited for you! Sounds so promising. Just read your post on the other threat too...I also had a sudden 'oh shit - we're really trying to have a baby and I could be PG any time soon' moment! It was really weird actually. I've wanted itfor so long and then suddenly there was this rush of stuff I wanted to do...and one thing right at the top of the list is find a new job. I'm working on a publishing contract which will finish up quite soon and I don't want to suddenly find I'm PG without a new job in place. I feel sort of bad...I know how difficult maternity leave is for small companies (DH had his own business) but it's not like I'm actively going out to screw some employer knowing I'm TTC...I will have to get a new job anyway, and it just so happens I may get prgenant shortly afterwards. I feel sort of guilty, but I'm good at my job and actively want to work (aside from the financials) so whatever happens they'd get good service form me whilst I was around... Anyway...that's my rambling for the morning.

Are your boobs still tingling...that is weird!

DawnAS · 17/07/2008 13:33

Hey Flirty,

The tingling sort of comes and goes really, but the nipples (well certainly one of them) does look a bit different. I don't know how to describe it though, just different...

I'm in a similar situation to you in relation to the job, but only because things are so up in the air because of the take-over of our company by another one... But on top of that, we haven't started looking for a house yet so that's definitely something that we need to start moving on!! We've only got a 2 bed at the moment and the 2nd bedroom is my office. We've got a Labrador and a cat aswell so the place is already a little crowded....

But we did say we'd start looking in September so that's what we'd need to stick to I think.... Ooooh the stress!!!

How's your day going anyway?

xx

OP posts:
FlirtyThirty · 17/07/2008 13:49

My day's okay...busy but fine!
The big pressure is off that I had last week, now just tying bits and pieces together at end of a project.

Finding a new house is exciting! We moved last year - still living in renovation hell - but it'll be lovely! We're just doing up our spare rooms for guests but it'll be taken over by baby if one chooses to join our little family. I'm jealous of your cat and dog. DH is allergic to cats and I love them. Maybe we should get a dog... [flirty muses...]

AF is due Sunday/Monday, then I'm going to try First Response OV tests...roll on the BD bonanza!

By the way, how did you get on with the PreSeed in action? I'm tempted...

Kalikaroo · 17/07/2008 14:35

I was just wondering if any of you have told other people that you're ttc? I'm definitely NOT telling my family, but I would quite like to tell my friend...not sure.

Is it best to tell or to wait until you get pg?

bluestarlavender · 17/07/2008 14:56

Dawn - when are you planning to test?? 14 days past OV??

I thought I was due around 24th cos I assumed I had a 30 day cycle. OV was on 8th, so 14 days later would be 22nd. Does that sounds right?
It might be that I'm actually a 28 day cycle...I am so confused.

Hi to everyone else!!!

Linwin · 17/07/2008 16:44

Kalikaroo I haven't told anyone we are TTC apart from one close work friend. I couldn't tell anyone in my family as word would spread like wildfire, besides don't want the added pressure and questions.

I have been having lots of symptoms too like tiredness, a bit of nausea and very weird tummy. I think though i'm just being extra sensitive at the mo and my mind is playing tricks on me. I'm probably like this every month before AF and just never paid attention before - thats what DH thinks anyway and he is the authority on such things! Lol.

DawnAS · 17/07/2008 16:47

Hello all,

BSL, I may test around Wednesday/Thursday if no sign by then... I usually start getting browny/red CM on Sunday, when my AF is due, but it doesn't normally hit properly until Wednesday. I've said to DH that I'm not going to buy a test until the middle of next week. Maybe if I order them from Ebay, they'll take a little longer to come and then I won't have a choice!!

I think part of my hesitation, is I'd like to live in blissful ignorance and just assume that I'm PG.. If I'm not, I'll be so gutted... What are the best tests to use, as in the most accurate, do you know?

Hey Flirty, I haven't used the Preseed yet - I'm secretly hoping that I won't need it . If I'm already PG, I'll be trying to sell it!!

Kalikaroo, I based who I've told we're TTCing on those people who I know will not judge, will be there to support me if it doesn't happen or if something goes wrong and those people that I'm really close to. So, in effect, 4 of my best friends. Three of whom already have children and gave me lots of hints and tips. My Mum knows aswell because she's had 5 so I'm guessing she'll be able to help me along. Haven't told any of my 4 siblings though....

I am so bloody tired!!

FlirtyThirty · 17/07/2008 17:52

Ooh...I think you ladies are quite brave telling people you're TTC. I'm keeping it a big secret from friends and family. Had planned to keep it secret til 12wk scan too if we get PG. I can easily do this with friends and DH family...but I'm REALLY close to my family and talk to my mum almost daily. I see here every week for a few drinks...god knows how I'll get out of that for 12 weeks!?! Hmmm...we'll see I guess...

Flirty... x

crunchynutter · 17/07/2008 18:35

My stuff for the baby shower im throwing arrived today- its all so fabulous i want one even more!! You should see the little nappies for one of my games... I am hoping my six week holiday and health plan will get me extra fertile! my two friends know we are Not trying not too' but i have played it down a lot- they have no idea i really want my babies now!! My labrador also wants the babies- i can tell he wants to play big brother xx

bluestarlavender · 17/07/2008 18:46

Hi guys,

Dawn - you've so much more willpower than me!!! I'm just desperate to know, one way or the other! So grumpy and nightmarish! DH doesn't know whether to laugh at me or be annoyed! The tummy cramps were getting really bad earlier! I think that's making me quite fed up!

Anyhow, I know this is probably teaching you guys to suck eggs, but I wish I'd known this 3 weeks ago...BDing needs to be in the few days BEFORE and the day of OV, not after!!! I thought the egg survived a few days travelling down the fallopian tube...but no, it's only viable for 12-24 hours post ovulation.

Sorry if you guys all already know this, but it came as news to me...how much of a doofus, am I??

Anyhow, DH is shouting something at me...so got to run...

BSLx

bluestarlavender · 17/07/2008 19:02

Oh sorry, also meant to say...dunno what tests are best..

I've managed to get three lots now....it's been a bad day for me!!
I order the ones HC (on the Bonkers thread) suggested from ebay yesterday...they are early prediction ones and came in a pickn'mix batch...so ordered 8 PG tests and 17 OV tests. Then today I caved and bought a clear blue one....then ( alot!!!) I popped into Boots to get some pix printed and they had the first response ones on BOGOF! no idea which are the best, but the first response ones say you can test 5 days before your period and it's 64% accurate, going up to 99% by the day after you're due.

The ebay ones obviously haven't arrived yet and, despite being bad and buying them, I've got no desire to use them yet...I know it's just too early...hope the feeling continues...

BSL x

P.S. Crunchy - I know what you mean...baby stuff is so cute! hope the shower goes well!

summerbird · 17/07/2008 22:24

Hi there

Thanks for the tip BSL, i actually thought i was more fertile after OV day, so i have learnt something (sooo new to this!).

Kalikaroo, i am being quite open about TTC with everyone, i work in a really catty office of women who already guessed anyway - more on that story later!

My mother in law tried for 3 years for DH so it was good to chat to her about it, my mum also tried 2 years for me, doesnt bode well for us does it! telling people has actually stopped the questions of when we are going to have babies, so has made for an easier life for me and DH. as always it is up to how you want to play it.

I have to tell you this, my colleague announced her pregnancy in the office today, the cows we work with were awful - it was met with a stony silence and then one of them said 'well we arent blind are we - of course we noticed!!' then they all went for pub lunch together and didnt ask me and colleague!!!! Grrrrrrr

That really upset me as i know i am going to get the same reaction if/when it happens to me. Why dont we all ditch our jobs and start up a business together!!

Sorry this is a ramble!

Bonifacio · 18/07/2008 08:56

Damn it!! I had just written a really long post and then accidently deleted it grrr

FlirtyThirty · 18/07/2008 09:09

Morning Bonifacio! Very on your behalf about the post thing...that happened to me the other day! Could have sworn I'd podted it and then...nothing!? How's trix anyway?

F.x

DawnAS · 18/07/2008 09:18

OMG Summerbird, what a bitchy office you work in!! What is wrong with these girls?! Is it jealousy or just pure nastiness? What situation are most of these girls in? Are they married, with children etc?

Hey BSL, well if you get a BFP quickly, send me some tests!! DH and I spoke about testing last night, I don't think he'd really taken my recent symptoms seriously until I told him yesterday that I was pretty much convinced.... So he said that he will get a PG test for me either Wednesday/Thursday next week as I'm refusing to test before AF date. Although I am starting to buckle slightly.... I just don't want the stress though of getting a -ive because the tests aren't accurate...

Ahhh B, that's so annoying when that happens!!

xxx

OP posts:
FlirtyThirty · 18/07/2008 09:27

OMG Dawn!!! You seriously do think you're PG, don't you!!! How exciting!!! Can you imagine...this time next week, you will know for sure! I so hope you are. You'll have to convery your diary into a 'things to do before baby' diary instead!

I'm due AF around Sunday and my boobs are feeling really heavy and tender today. Have made a note on my spreadsheet so that I don't confuse this with a PG sign in the future!

Summerbird - The girls in your office sound AWFUL! I wouldn't worry about what reaction you get from them...clearly they aren't worth the stress... And besides, we'll all be delighted for you!

Bonifacio · 18/07/2008 09:32

I'll try again.

Hi everyone, how are you all! I have been trying to keep off mn as I was getting a little obsessed, though while I wasn't on mn I was compiling a list of things to buy when we do have a baby, where to buy it from and how much it cost. By the way how much do you think is reasonable to spend on all the stuff you dirst need. I can provide a list of what I intend to buy if anyone is interested!!

A goof friend of mine has just anounced that she is pg, so I am really happy for her but also really is that really bad? Am I the worst person in the world!

My AF is due tomorrow though I haven't ben cramping today which I normally do, and though were not trying till next month we did have sex this month (obviously) but we don't use condoms at the minute (ran out and they're crap here) so relying on the withdrawal method which means that technically I COULD be pregnant (Its so easy to convince myself!) Also all yeaterday I was going to the toilet all day and I don't think I had drank more than usual!! I need to stop convincing myself!

Dawn How are you? I'm praying your AF doesn't arrive for you! I have only told my best non judgemental friend Hope your test goes well (if you get there!) I think its best that you don;t buy them until you have missed a AF otherwise your too tempted to test early, though I did buy some when I went to UK (can't find them on the shelf here and don't want to have to ask!)

Also struggling to fone folic acid, I did find some but it was 5mg and the NHS only reccomend that you take 0.4mg daily, is this right?? I don't want to have to go to the docs here yet!

Flirty well done on the healthyness!! I have been really bad for the last week and I am going to have a curry tonight! Everything in moderation!!

Kalikaroo Hi! I good luck ttc!! I have only told my best non judgemental friend that we are ttc, like yours it would spread like wildfire if I told one family member and I don't want the pressure. ANd when we do get pg we won't tell ANYONE till the 12 week scan, although I think if people who are close to us blantantly ask I don't think its fair to lie plus i'm not very good at it! The only other person who knows we are ttc is my housekeeper and thats only because of all the books laying round the house!!

Crunchy the baby stuff sounds so cute I love that its becoming a more English thing to do, not just for the presents (obviously there an added+ ) but I think its lovely to be able to sit round with the girls and just chat about it all!! Luckily if I am still here when I get pg, all my friends are Amercian so would def be having one! yey!! I too just can't wait to be pg and keep willing my body to do it! Especially with all the problems my mum had (she was ttc for 10 years before she had ivf!)

BSL I think you win the trophy for owning the most tests!! How is the non testing going have you crumbled yet! I know I would have!!

Summeerbird hello! Your co workers sound awful, Everyone who anounces they're pregnant should get massive congratulations and get told that you really can't tell (whether you can or not!) I hope when you get your BFP they are a little more supportive, or just don't ever tell them!

I can't remember who asked about the book for dads, but anyway I bought anotherone at the weekend (bad I know) called Dads Pregnant Too by Harlen Cohen, its an American one but is actually really good (I read it obviously!) very informative in a non "woah this is way too much info" info way and has tips etc and stories from other dads all the way through. My friend newly pg friend was saying she needs to buy books and I felt really bad knowing that I had loads I could lend her but won't because otherwise she would know TTC!

ANyway I think thats my long post over with! I am off to carry on looking at my lists as DP (shoked) wants to look at it when he gets in!! I think he's starting to get a bit more excited not the d day is finally aproaching!!

Bonifacio · 18/07/2008 09:33

WOW the time it took me to write my monster thread and everyone is up!

FlirtyThirty · 18/07/2008 10:43

Bonifacio - racing so can't reply to your mega post now...but scanning. This is the Folic acid I'm taking (www.microfolicacid.com)
I'm rubbish at taking tablets and these are great as they are tiny - like the size of contraceptive pills.

F.x

bluestarlavender · 18/07/2008 10:50

Hi guys,

Just dipping in for a quickie...will come back and post later, but wanted to say to Summer bird...your colleagues are just plain horrible!! What's wrong with people that they can't just be please for someone...?

Anyhow, more later!!
