Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

Anyhow, I thought I should actually introduce myself properly to everyone.

I'm 34, and DH (30) and I got married at the beginning of the year. We were planning to wait til November time to start TCC, but neither of us could wait!! I had my IUD removed on CD2 (a few weeks ago)...so it was pretty good timing for our first cycle attempt.

We aren't telling anyone we're TTC...I just don't want to keep having people asking all the time. Although saying that my sis (who has DD 9 months) hassles me every time I see her to have a baby to play with her DD.

Mumsnet has been such a great source of info so far!! And I'm sure it's helping me not go mad, or send DH mad with baby talk!!!

Okay, question for you all...are you as crazy as me...I've already been buying pregnancy and parenting magazines...
Also read Mylene's book in about a day after having my IUD out.

bluestarlavender · 08/07/2008 20:27

Been doing a googlesearch on armpit lumps and pregnancy. Although there's nothing concrete about it being a symptom...the breasts are connected all the way up to the armpit, so it could be a pregnancy symptom...?

crunchynutter · 08/07/2008 20:39

Yay- Bluestarlavender we are not alone!

What is it with men and names?? I really think i'll have to get tough in the end and pull the old 'its my body-ill name it' however i did hope we'd both find names we love!! or we could do a lucky dip haha

FlirtyThirty · 08/07/2008 20:40

Dawn...I really don't want to get your hopes up as the armpit thing may just be muscle, lymph nodes or a little cyst...BUT...check out this link:

bellybelly.com.au/forums/pregnancy-general-discussion/17529-lumps-under-my-armpits.html

Oh, adn I also work form home so understand completely the temptation to pop on here all the time!

Bluestar - welcome welcome! You are in good company. I have not yet bought a pregnacy book or magazine. That is a treat for when we final get PG! Which do you prefer though...?

Flirty x

bluestarlavender · 08/07/2008 21:36

Hi Crunchynut and Flirty,

CN - I'm loving the lucky dip...I thinking of using that as a threat if DH doesn't start taking name ideas seriously!!

Flirty - personally I did like the Mylene book, but I also read the Jools Oliver books a few years ago...I used to watch the naked chef and loved it when those two got engaged...the Jools book is way better than Mylene's. The magazines are okay...probably better when you actually are PGN!

Hey haha on a website i found you can play baby name roulette. It gives you random girl and boy name at each spin it's quite fun!

look at NetDoctor.co.uk and there is a link on there somewhere for the roulette- i kind of found it on accident but im having fun!

bluestarlavender · 08/07/2008 21:53

Took a look at that name roulette!! It's hilarious!! there are some very odd names!!

TartanShamrock · 08/07/2008 22:24

off to thailand on holiday tomorrow so that's me signing off for 2 weeks ladies. looking forward to a catch up when i'm back though. happy BDing everyone xxx

DawnAS · 08/07/2008 22:31

Hi Flirty & BlueStar,

OMG, I just read further down that link and one girl said that it was a symptom of pregnancy and that's how the GP discovered that she was expecting. Just told my DH and we're laughing our heads off - talk about bizarre symptoms!! It's really odd aswell because they come up under one arm and are tender, then they disappear and come up under the other arm. They started about a week ago and last about a day at a time and have been there every other day.

It could be a reaction to my body settling after I stopped taking the pill as that was 3 months ago. But then, I had stopped taking it before for 6 months and didn't get this.

I had glandular fever as a child and my glands are always popping up and down in my neck, although generally not under my arm. But hey ho, back to symptom spotting - I'm sure when I look in the mirror, my stomach swells and has an alien looking thing painted on it - oh no, that was just another dream... Only joking!!

Oh who bloody knows!!!

Crunchy if I tell my DH I'm playing roulette, he'll come up stairs and remove my credit cards - !! I'm soooo going to have a look at that game - although maybe tomorrow now as it's quite late. Had to watch Ghost Whisperer though!!

So Flirty, catch you on line through the day tomorrow then!! Now I know you're at home, I'll never get any work done -

You know ladies, I almost don't want to know what's going to happen to me when I'm pregnant. I've had enough of the "shock tactic" stories already - it's as if people try to put you off being pregnant!!

So, I'm officially in the Symptom spotting club now - come on girls - jump in - the water (madness) is lovely!!

Well ladies, I'm off to bed now to will more lumps to come up over night and to get sore boobs.... although a little difficult when they're not real and have no feeling - HEY, MAYBE THAT'S WHY THE LUMPS ARE UNDER MY ARMS - THE OPERATION MOVED ALL THE BITS AROUND - OMG, I'LL BE BREASTFEEDING FROM MY ARMPITS!! (Dawn runs screaming into the night.....)

FlirtyThirty · 08/07/2008 22:53

"OMG, I'LL BE BREASTFEEDING FROM MY ARMPITS!! " - I just about wet myself when I read this!! Bloody hilarious thought...

Will certainly be here by day....so chat then. Look forwrad to hearing if you've sprouted any more miscellaneous growths (though possibly not the alient one). Where are you based by the way? I'm Middlesex.

Flirty x

PS. Pop quiz for those stil around. DH is not home from work function yet. When he is, what will most likely happen:
a. we will BD like bunnies
b. DH will be too intoxicated to remember who I am
c. DH will be too tired to care who I am
d. I will be asleep because it'll be morning
e. None of the above.

Bonifacio · 09/07/2008 06:46

flirty I'm going to guess that he will come in in the morning, too intoxicated to remember who you are, stumble up the stairs waking you up, then even though he doesn't remember who you are he will try to BD like bunnies but be so intoxicated that he can't find the "goal"!! Thats what would happen to me anyway!

Talking of books, I think I win the maddness award! I have: Baby name book, Jo Frost Confident Baby Care, Dr Miriams Pregnancy and Birth, Dr Miriams Pregnancy and babies, New Dads Survival guide (to give DP when we find out), and 25 things every new mother should know (which is shite) There really should be a stark raving mad emoticon on here!!

To make matters worse (I think you can tell I don't believe in tempting fate) I have clothes....teeny tiny oh so cute clothes, bought under the ruse that I would give them to my pregnant friends new baby (that never happened they were too cute to give away I wanted them all for myself) I convince myself that as they are not gender specific it does not matter and its only 3 little suits......

Flirty I am hoping that when I am actually pg my DP will show an interest in names but at the minute it is all my choice! So my names are Alexander Richard, Noah George and Emily Rose, If I have triplets i'll be sorted, the boys names I have liked for ages but the girls keep changing, can't find any I really really like! I am in The Philippines, great place, very hot! My DP is making me hold off booking the flights, I think he is hoping we won't be able to go!!

Hey Bluestar welcome to the madness!

Cruncy Guy is a really strong masculine name, it could work! The only suggestion my DP made was Jennifer, which is a bit blande for my liking.

The only reason I have told no one is: My mum would offer me allsorts of outdated advice and generally drive me mad. My best friends, 1 is a chav, awful to say I know but she is and likes chav names I just know she would slag off all my sort of traditional ones. The other friend does not ever want children and wouldn't be the least bit interested and the last one thinks that I shouldn't have children until me and DP are married. And his mum i'm sure would try and talk him out of it!!

Dawn only thing I can think of with your armpits are the lymphnodes that are there, maybe your coming down with something...

I think I could talk the ear off DP all day about this kind of stuff!!

DawnAS · 09/07/2008 08:23

Morning All,

Bonifacio - OMG - you DEFINITELY get the prize of being the most obsessed!! My aim in life, is to be as mad as you!! I'm going to register for "Mothercare" right now and then disppear off to "Boots" and buy nappies!! . By the way, sort of liking your choices of names, bit worried about Emily Rose though - that was the name of the girl in the latest Exorcist film!! Also, got an ex called George so that name has bad memories. But I'm sure if it hadn't been his name, I'd like it more!! I like names like that because I like Harry and Jack and even Harvey!!

Flirty - morning darlin', hope you had a good night's sleep. I didn't, I didn't drop off until midnight and then typically didn't want to get up this morning. Although looking forward to my big session with Psychic lady!!

Crunchy - hope you're Ok today hun. Must be nearing the end of term for you isn't it?! Ahhhh, although that time off!!

Tartan - guessing you may not be on today since you're off to Thailand ()...

By the way Flirty, since I wasn't on line last night to give you the answer to your multiple choice, I'm guessing "B". Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to find out if I got it right!!

OP posts:
DawnAS · 09/07/2008 08:26

BlueStar - so sorry I missed you off of my last link!! I had to keep scrolling up the page to remember everyone's name!!

Hope you had a good sleep hun, how are you feeling today?

My armpit is still tender this morning and I can almost feel the other one coming up again. Think I'm going to cancel this months waxing session - don't want to aggrivate things any more than I have to!

Anyway, hope all is well with the world!!

FlirtyThirty · 09/07/2008 09:32

Morning ladies!

The answer to the quiz.....e. none of the above.
DH came home around midnight and I was still working on the PC. So we went to bed and I was totally frazzled from writing all night and DH was knackered from a night talking to work associates. So...yet another BD-free night. Am going to have to work on this or it'll take the immaculate conception for us to have a baby! Any tips for getting in the mood more often...?!

Dawn - Is it wrong that I am developing an unhealthy interest in your armpits?! Any more lumps and bumps today. Definitely give the waxing a miss...I take my hat off to anyone who can endure such pain to be honest...I'll maybe build up to it as preparation for the torment of labour.

And you are quite right about the name discussion I think. I will not be sharing my thoughts with anyone except DH. They can find out our chosen name when it's too late to change it!

Bonifacio - I have baby clothes too bought under exactly the same 'they're for a friend' ruse! We are bonkers in every sense! I even have girls and boys things. I thought I was the only one to be so stupid so i'm quite cheered to know I'm not alone!
Oh, and lovin' the name choices. I like them all, but I think my favourites from your list are Emily and Alexander. I haven't seen the Exorcist (too scary for me!) but listen to Dawn on the Emily Rose combo...may be something to consider. That said, I have never heard of this girl... (Flirty crawls back under stone...)

Oh, and how is the 'New Dad's Surbvival Guide'. I've been thinking of getting hubby on of these too for breaking the news but have read some really mixed reviews on amazon about Here to Paternity and all those. I'll go with the one you have if it's any good. I don't want anything too patronising or overbearing.

Crunchy - according to baby name roulette my children will be Cicero(boy) and Trinetta(girl). One is the the hotel murder scene from Chicago (the musical) and the other sounds like and friend of Vicky Pollard! I think I may need a few more spins...

DawnAS · 09/07/2008 09:40

Ok guys - not so keen on this roulette game!!

Brittini and Rocky !!!!!

Just because they change the spelling, doesn't make it sound any less chavvy!!

OMG

DawnAS · 09/07/2008 09:43

Flirty, I will happily talk to you about my armpits!! Still painful and still lumpy, the same arm as yesterday. Although does feel a little sensitive in the other arm today so that'll probably come up tonight.... Although I did have a swollen gland in my neck this morning when I got up aswell, so it could be related.... But I've never had the underarm ones before and they don't really seem like glands to be honest, too small. Almost like pea-size.

I'm sure Psychic lady will be able to tell me all about it - even before I get there!! Ha ha ha .
xx

OP posts:
FlirtyThirty · 09/07/2008 09:48

I'm excited about the psychic lady on your behalf!!
I'm VERY sceptical about that kind of stuff so god knows why i'm so eagerly anticipating some kind of revelation when you get back. But I am. Is it possible that our brains and sense of logic total disappear whilst TTC?! I thought only PG women spoke of reduced mental faculties. Truth is it has already started... I will be brain dead by the time any child actually enters my life...poor mite!

F.x

PS. Thinking of adding Rocky to my boys name list...if only to see DH face!! Maybe Balboa for a middle name...?!

DawnAS · 09/07/2008 10:09

Oh do it - go on, add Rocky, that'll be hilarious!!

My DH isn't budging from our original names of Marissa Ellen and Ryan Anthony. I do like them though so I guess we'll stick with those...

xx

OP posts:
FlirtyThirty · 09/07/2008 10:20

Dawn - I run the risk that DH actually like Rocky though!? It would be unusual though, he seems to be stuck in a rut with the characters of the Arthurian legends ! I'm not giving birth to a Percival, Merlin or Lancelot though! Non negotiable.

I particularly like Marissa from your list - very pretty and unusual. I knew a Marisa once, but have only ever met that one. I'ma big fan or proper but uncommon names!

F.x

DawnAS · 09/07/2008 10:27

I was a big fan of the OC which is where both Marissa and Ryan come from. I like the fact that you can shorten Marissa to Missy aswell, which I think is quite sweet.

Have you seen my waffly note on the other thread - I'm starting to feel like a hypochondriac (convinced I've not spelt that properly).. but I think when you start symptom spotting, you just can't stop. My boobs are itchy and feel different today too - but it can't be anything to do with that fact that one of my hairs (from my head by the way - I don't have long chest hairs...) has fallen down my top and is tickling me!!

I really think I'm going nuts!!

xx

OP posts:
Bonifacio · 09/07/2008 11:23

Dawn You ruined my name for me!! (I would've ruined it for myself by next week so i'm not too upset!) The only names I am set on are the middle names as they are all family related, and I like long names that you can shorten to nicknames.
Also I can't believe your not registered with Mothercare yet!! And I haven't bought nappies but I have researched them and located the cheapest place to buy them (Bonifacio holds up her most obsessed trophy with pride!) ANd I think you hold the trophy for most obsessed symptom spotter!!

Flirty the book is mediocre at best, very pally pally and not very informative, I think I will be getting another one!

I am loving everyones name choices, Noah is my latest because I watched the Notebook the other day and sat and cried my eyes out, for those of you who haven't seen / read the Notebook (do it now) Noah is the main male character. My DP hates the name!!

I am just off for a massage, just been to yoga so am in AGONY! While i'm gone, tell me ladies do you have a special plan for when you tell your DP / DH's that your pg!!

DawnAS · 09/07/2008 14:46

Hey all,

Lucky you Bonafacio, do you know I've never had a massage in my life... I really should think about having one.

Sorry about ruining the name, I only thought of it because that film terrified me so much!!

I'm the same as you with the middle names. In Marissa Ellen, Ellen is my Mother-in-law's middle name (although she passed away when DH was 15 so I've never met her....) and in Ryan Anthony, Anthony is my DH's middle name and his father's middle-name. Bless!!

Hello!! My god! Roll on end of term! I am up to my neck with work- just got home and tried to catch up on what i have missed and burnt my baguetter - i still ate it although it was black hehe could that be a symptom?? craving? hmmm

dawn i used to wax for years (but never brave enough for armpits!) but i used to get small lumps occasionally around bikini area. It could very possibly be ingrowing hairs caused by waxing?

To all who commented on books (Everyone?) I have a list of books i would like but am trying to save it as a pregnancy treat too- i worry that it will get me even more excited if i read them and then i will be sad if it takes too long!

maybe i will be lucky enough to conceive in the holiday and then i will actually have time to read them lol work is very hectic at the moment!

I'm glad you all tried that roulette game- it always makes me smile! they have to make some of them up!

DawnAS · 09/07/2008 17:05

Ladies,

I am soooooo pissed off you wouldn't believe.

That Psychic woman has cancelled on me, talk about last minute, surely she must have known that she was going to have a headache!!

What sort of excuse is that anyway?!! She was really trying to fob me off aswell when I asked about rebooking - talk about making me paranoid!!

My work colleague has said that maybe this has happened for a reason, but I really needed that session tonight. Not just 'cos of the baby stuff, but DH and I are looking to buy our first house this year and my company's just been bought out by a much bigger one which puts all our jobs at risk. Living down in Devon, finding work with good money is really really hard...

Just needed to know that everything's going to be OK... . Like other women these days, I'm the main breadwinner so if I lose my job, no chance of house or baby... But even if she wasn't right, just telling me that I was going to be Ok would have given me a boost....

I'm a very sad lady now....

xx

OP posts:
crunchynutter · 09/07/2008 17:14

Dawn don't worry- i know there is a lot happening at the moment (my dad is in a similar work situation to yourself) just try to stay positive and think about the whole picture: i.e

if the house falls through- you have been happy as you are so you will still be happy and it will happen eventually,

  1. you sound an intelligent lady so i am sure work will be positive for you- even if it means a new job i think you will do well.

  2. i honestly don't think anyone can ever afford a baby, but somehow you cope. My sister in law (on paper) should not be able to afford her children and yet they have a really happy family and have everything they want.

  3. psychic lady was probably a bitch who wanted to get your money and then grew a conscience- have a look on the ghost tours websites- that is how my sister got into it and they have 'psychic' fairs where you have a selection of ppl to talk to if you like the look of any of them (unfortunately we were late to the one i went to with her so i too lost out on my reading and have been too busy/broke to go to another!)

I hope you feel a bit better- open a bottle of wine and watch a nice film with your hubby- that always makes me feel better xx
