Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

Very wise Crunchy and just bear in mind that you can only use the tests once - shoes will last forever!!

I've eaten loads of rubbish today - don't know what's wrong with me!!

Roll on Wednesday night - I shall think baby thoughts and hope that my Psychic lady hones (don't know if that's the right spelling..) in on them!!

Crunchy, we've so done the name thing.

So come on, what are yours?!! We've chosen Marissa Ellen (Ellen's a family name) for a girl and Ryan Anthony (Anthony's a family name - getting the gist?!) for a boy!!

Oh I feel even worse now!! We were discussing name before we officially agreed to even try for one and we still can't agree! Anything he likes i don't and anything i like he hates were going to just have 'baby' til its old enough to choose i think!

I love lilly for a girl (or lottie, or Sinead) and Oscar or Olliver for a boy. He hates everything!

crunchynutter · 07/07/2008 19:54

i'm also very fond of George or Bob for a boy at which point he didnt talk to me for the rest of the day! I really think they're cute though- and not 'weird' but not common either which is what i wanted!

crunchynutter · 07/07/2008 19:56

I also love Kendra- it is an English name with a lovely meaning and i don't know any- but he hates them all- i keep thinking of new ones hoping theres one hell like!

crunchynutter · 07/07/2008 20:00

I love Marissa and i like Ryan too (I have a cousin called Ryan though but dont know any Marissa's- its lovely!

DawnAS · 07/07/2008 20:47

Hey Crunchy,

I have to say I'm with your DH on George, my ex was called George... He really smelt and never washed. Unfortunately that's all I can think when I hear that name now sorry!!

Love all your other choices though. Love Oliver although know quite a few people with that name so probably wouldn't choose it myself.

Also quite like Serena.. (Gossip Girl). The other names, Ryan and Marissa, we heard on the OC. Best hope we don't have twins because if we have Ryan and Marissa, people will guess where they came from!!

oooh the list of baby names.... i like ellie or niamh for a girl and conor and liam for a boy - you can tell i'm irish on a few of those!!! DH calls irish names 'cheating at scrabble' but i think they're lovely. at the end of the day i've told him that if i'm doing the 40 week pregnancy & labour i get last say on the name. or else i'll invoice him for the rental of my womb could do with replacing the shoes in my wardrobe ;)

Bonifacio · 08/07/2008 06:13

Hi ladies, can I join in! Was supposed to start TTC this month but DP went away with work this morning and i'm OV'ing so will have to be next month!

We can't seem to agree on names either, he has no preference what so ever and has said he is happy withever I choose I am not sure if I am pleased about this or not... On the one hand it means I get to choose on the other in my paranoid state of mind it means something bad So I have the names for all 4 of my children picked out already, including middle names.

I am also super paranoid about conception as my mum had A LOT of problems (severe endo, womb tilted backwards, twisted tubes)so I am convinced I will have the same problems, though I have been told that none of these are genetic.

A bit of info on my cycle. Every 26 days like clockwork, then 4 days bleeding 1 day off then 1 1/2 more days bleeding (pain in the arse!)

I will post at strange times as i'm not in the UK and 7 hours ahead!

Good luck to everyone!

DawnAS · 08/07/2008 08:27

Welcome to our small group Bonifacio and hi Tartan.

My friend has a son called Connor. They're not Irish but just loved Irish names. Talking of Irish - I've just booked tickets to go and see "Riverdance" on their farewell tour in February! I love that show, I just can't wait. Hopefully I'll be PG by then!!

Yuck, I've got the dentist this morning, at least that'll be free when I get PG - ha ha!! It'll be time to start stocking up on prescriptions aswell - whether you need them or not!!

Well, after all my "PG Symptoms" yesterday, it turns out that I got my dates wrong and was just OVing so had an extra BD session. Already had one on Sunday but I thought "better to be safe than sorry", so we did it again. I get a night off tonight now - phew!!

So how are you all today?

Hi Dawn! I'm good today, getting into holiday mode as we're off to Thailand tomorrow. Last day fo work today but in my head i've on holiday already, shouldn't be a stressful day though as have a few meetings to get through - sitting and listening mainly i hope.

Riverdance is ace, and to think it all started off on the Eurovision!??! Enjoy, I've heard it's amazing to watch.

Hi Bonifacio welcome to the baby making club.

DawnAS · 08/07/2008 09:44

Tartan - how lovely!! You must be so excited !!

I'm not jealous at all ...

I bet you'll come back PG .

Morning everyone,

I am so glad to hear I'm not the only one putting the cart before the horse, or whatever that saying is. We have also discussed baby names before we even started TTC!

Also, only a week in and I think my poor hubby is getting performance anxiety already. I was joking last night that it was his night off blah blah, cue nervous laughter. I think too much talk of baby making not a good thing. How are the rest of your partners coping?

Thank goodness for you girls!

FlirtyThirty · 08/07/2008 10:33

Ladies, I think I can top the baby name discussion. How's this for madness - I have the Oxford Dictionary of Names by my bedside! AND, I have had it there for about 6 months, before DH had even come round to the idea of having a baby (You would think DH might have guessed I wanted to have one soon though!?!). Insanity. What I have learnt though is that I love a name for a bout a week and then go right off it. Goodness knows what the child will end up with if I can't stick to a name for any given time. This week's girls names for consideration: Josephine (Josie), Amelia, Alexandra and Eloise. And in the boys' corner: Oliver, James, Zachary and Edward.

Now as for the OPKs...I bought mine dirt cheap on www.babymad.com. They cost £9 for 30 and it brings me curious joy to wee on them. (Can you be sectioned for gaining pleasure for this kind of behaviour?!). I have no idea if they work at all, but I feel I am doing something practical. So my little ritual will continue for now.

Dawn - thanks for the surrogate psychic session. Here's hope it helps us all.

Tartan - I too feel my body id reclaimed

Bonifacio - I too am a 25/26 day cycle. Currently on day 11.

Oh, and this will not be my month as I think I may have OVd at the weekend prior to DH agreeing that we should TTC and therefore having had protected sex! Oh well, got to have a smear test on Monday anyway (the joy!?) so probably not a bad thing. Role on month 2...and the possibility of a Summer 09 baby!

Bonifacio · 08/07/2008 13:24

Flirty I too have had the name dictionary by my bed, I am going through it and highlighting all the names I like (pink for girls, blue for boys!) Any name that I like for more than a month is lucky!! Also I am on day 16 at the minute!!

I'm actually getting quite giddy at the thought of being pg! Though if all goes to plan and I get pg (obviously I am planning on it happening first try!) then I will be either too pg or have given birth when we have to fly to UK for a family wedding next year, so I'm trying to hold off booking the flights but i've found a really good deal...... I think I may be rambling, I could easily get carried away talking on here, my DP is the only person that knows we are TTC and he is at work all day and I did promise not to talk about it every day (I think he's getting nervous) and i'm still rambling......

FlirtyThirty · 08/07/2008 15:00

Bonifacio - we are also keeping the whole TTC thing a secret. I couldn't bare the pressure of people knwowning and constantly asking if I'm PG yet. Hideous. It's bad enough as it is! I too am trying to lay of rabbiting on about it to my DH. He would go round the twist in a very short period.

Love the pink and blue highlighting! I'm too scared to highlight anything as I change my mind so much the whole bloody book would be technicolour! DH has showna total lack of interest in the name game so far, which given I'm not even PG is not very surprising. I do worry though, I suspect we will have very different taste on that front. Will have to wait and see...

Where in the world are you by the way? Far East, I'm guessing from time difference? Oh, and as for the flights...I say book them...sure fire way to get PG!

Flirty x

Oh, and i'm on day 13 so not far behind you on the old cycle race!

fairywing · 08/07/2008 17:54

We are keeping it secret too. The only person i have told is a very close friend who just gave birth to her second a couple of months ago. WE have friends that are getting married next year in Jamaica and we are having to stall giving them a reply, as we hope to either be pregnant or have a baby by then - can't tell them that though!!

TartanShamrock · 08/07/2008 19:01

don't know if any of you use these, but i'm a fan of the babystart HPTs, 2 for £1 from asda! and seem to do the same thing, as accurate as all the fancy ones (i'm a scientist so did my homework on this front), look a bit more basic but at the end of the day you still pee on a stick in my book. the others are so expensive i'd have to ration myself, but this way you can literally pee to your hearts content

Linwin my lovely DH does a bit of nervous laughter every now and then too, going along with it but kinda simmering worry underneath i think. up to now we've been concentrating on me coming off the pill and having regular periods etc so i don't think he had even considered that he could potentially have any problems. i'm trying to be positive and keep it upbeat so that he can, ahem, keep performing on the BDing front. we've only been off the pill since nov and my periods are totally out of whack so have no idea if we're even productive at the moment, and we've only been TTC for just over 6 months so not long at all really.... or just convincing myself we've been married for 3 years at the end of this month, so i think everyone thinks a baby announcement is overdue. plus everyone else seems to be looking at their hubbies and getting PG and here we are still doing the BD fandango.

DawnAS · 08/07/2008 19:18

Hello All!!

Hope you've all had a lovely day!

I've actually managed to keep quite distracted today because I've been busy at work. But because I work from home and I'm on the computer all day, it's been very tempting to come onto this site and just natter - I've been very restrained!!

I haven't got a baby name book - but I'm darnwell going to get one now!!!!!!! I refuse to be the only one in this thread who's only partially nuts -

Oh my goodness - why don't we just start our own baby name list?!! Other threads have lists of cycle dates and stuff, why don't we have lists of names? Or am I really just losing the plot..... ..

Anyway, so, I'm CD20 of a 35 day cycle so about OV time. Had terrible almost AF like pains yesterday so assume that was OV time, pains have stopped today. So BDd last night and the night before but having a night off tonight... Although almost feel nervous about it in case it's the right time, but since the little critters stay alive for about 72 hours anyway, figure that 2 nights in a row should be sufficient. Be back on it again tomorrow!!

Well, that's after my visit to the Psychic anyway - hey, maybe I won't need to!! Ha ha - .

We are keeping TTC a secret from most people. My Mum has an idea and my two best friends, Linsey and Tracy who I tell everything to and have given me lots of advice already... They're routing for us!!

Hey guys, Can I join?

I know a few of you from another thread, but it's nice to be on a thread where we're all TTC number 1...

DawnAS · 08/07/2008 19:35

Hey BlueStar, of course you can join, it's lovely to have you here.

You may find that we're all a little nuts on this thread because we're all "just starting out". We've already all admitted to thinking about names - although I think I might be the only one without a name book - but don't you worry, that'll be swiftly rectified!! Going to go onto Ebay and find one!! -

So, here's a question for everyone? Has anyone ever heard of any "armpit" problems as a symptom for pregnancy?!! For the last week (on and off), I've had painful lumps coming and going in my armpits. I've had an infection before and it's not that. But I go to bed one day and then wake up the next with these painful lumps!! What is that about? I've been waxing for the past 4 months (oh my gosh it hurts), but my beautician hasn't changed the wax and I haven't had the problem before.

The only thing that's different in my life is more BDing and TTC!!

May seem crazy - do you get the feeling I'm clutching at straws?! -

Hey all! God i seem to have missed loads! i'm so glad ive not the only one obsessed with names! Its just such a big decision!

I too am of good old irish decent and i love Irish names (I love Aoife, Roisin and caira) He is not so keen on any :-( he doesnt like the idea of any name to be honest that doesnt 'sound' english so ive tried out sean and Molly etc- he just seems to have negative opinions on every name- but cant decide on wht he does like... so far hes suggested Guy, Guy?? im not convinced!

Im jealous about the holiday though, and happy we have a new person! Think i may invest in a baby name book myself to peruse and am still that there is no period hence i don't know when i'm bloody OV'ing!!!

I have told my two best mates sister in law and sis but really played it down, just said we were stopping the injection and kind of left it! I agree with not wanting anyone to know. I too get asked when babies are coming regularly. I only haqve to feel a bit under the weather and ppl are suggesting pregnancy- ita like as soon as you get married people think thats the only reason why! well fingers are still crossed...

xxxx

bluestarlavender · 08/07/2008 19:50

Dawn - you're not the only one without a name book...I don't have one yet...

But DH and I have been talking names for ages and ages. He's a nightmare and doesn't like any of my favourite names. Rah!

Being on this site, I've been asking his opinion on lots of the name suggestions...I'm not sure he really enjoying this aspect of TTC!

bluestarlavender · 08/07/2008 19:56

Dawn - forgot to answer your Q about armpits. I've never heard of lumps being a symptom of pregnancy?? Could you be using odd muscles BDing more?? Or could it be a symptom of coming off BC??

DawnAS · 08/07/2008 20:15

Thanks Bluestar, I did think it was a bit of a long-shot, just didn't know if armpits were linked to any kind of hormones!!

I wonder if maybe I'm coming down with something and it's swollen glands... They're definite lumps though, really odd. But because they're painful and coming and going, I'm not going to worry too much!

Aren't men funny? They know why we're BDing yet though don't want to think about the outcome - they don't have to go through the physical aspects for 9 months though - they should think themselves lucky!!

My DH has starting finishing our BD session with "there's another deposit in the bank!", hmmm, cringeworthy - I think so...
