Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

Morning, or rather afternoon guys,

Just been to Waterstones for my lunch break. I pre-ordered a book from Amazon which came out yesterday and Amazon were being rubbish and even today hadn't even started to despatch it, so I cancel the order and went and bought it!! yay!!

Anyhow, the Ricard and Judy book is this one:
www.amazon.co.uk/Private-Lives-Pippa-Lee/dp/1847672493/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217937853&sr= 1-1

Anyhow, how is everyone?? Does anyone know if Eth is on holiday?? The last thing I remember was that she was having a potential implantation bleed...

DawnAS · 05/08/2008 13:31

Hi BSL,

That book looks good, maybe we should go with that one!

If everyone agrees, maybe we should buy it at the weekend and have our first "session" next week at an agreed time. What d'ya think?

Sounds good- r we doing the Richard and judy thingor are we just choosing month by month? I'm just wondering of I should order the book club pack or just by that one! Next week sounds good though- should we plan to finish it or read about half and discuss views so far kind of thing? (I really am clueless to this but very excited!)

I was wondering about eth too- I don't remember her saying she was away. I hope she's ok xxx

crunchynutter · 05/08/2008 13:50

sorry for typing errors-i come on on my iphone now somi can check in regularly (I know. I'm sad) but it's got predictive text and changes words sometimes and k admit idont. Always proof read (just don't tell the kids I teach LOL) x x.

Again- book club! Are we starting. New thread under the book section on here? Xxx

bluestarlavender · 05/08/2008 13:58

I'm happy to go with that!! The book is on offer in Waterstones at the mo...if you spent £10, you can get it for £2.99.

Crunchy - oooh you have an iphone...what do you think of it?? My phone contract expires in November, but I can upgrade this month. I'm with orange at the moment and am trying to decide whether to upgrade as I'm having problems with my mobile (the battery life is shockingly short) or wait til i can cancel my contract and go for either an iphone on O2 or get another phone on Vodafone. (Vodafone is the best network for my location) Your opinion on the iphone would be great!!

I'm still getting used to some of he things but I love it! It has a qwerty keyboard so that's good (touch screen hence me getting used to it!) but it's fab-especially for mumsnet and facebook-all at the touch of a button! I've also got all my wedding photos plus some and about 350 songs in the iPod section and ive still got about 6gb left-it's fantastic! I never thougt I'd want anything so technical but it is great! That waterstonea offer sounds great thanks-I want to buy some baby books anyway (jools and mylene!) and Its free delivery if you spend over 15pound at waterstones. Com! Xxxx

eth37 · 05/08/2008 14:26

Hello ladies!! Oh my god, I have missed so so much!!! Dawn - I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage, but you do seem to be keeping really positive.
Hello everyone!
Wow - a book club, can I join?? I am in one at work as well, which I love and which generally turns into a nice long chat over lots of wine. I am reading one of the Richard and Judy ones - a Patrick Gale book, can't actually remember the title (think it has 'obscurity' in it... sorry!)
Anyway - I am back from Cologne, having surprised DH at the station on Friday and dragged him to Gatwick! Think he was a bit shocked and had to rearrange a meeting and a presentation (I had secretly arranged with his boss for him to have the MOnday off, hee hee!) We had suuuuch a nice long weekend, it was so good to get away...
TTC update - WELL, I have got the blinking UTI back I think, which I had got rid of about 2 weeks ago. The cramping i had on Thursday I am fairly sure was to do with that. It is a low-down pain and all weekend I have been needing to wee every hour (much to DH's annoyance!). Spotting of blood still unexplained but may all be UTI-related. I have had MASSIVELY sore boobs (so much so that I have actually bought a 'support' bra (am a 32B so not exactly ginormous, but could hardly walk!!) and face totally broken out in spots, but I tested this morning and got a BFN (on first response, so should detect it by now). but not to worry. Am just annoyed as I had limited self to 1 glass of wine a night this weekend! And endured a sober flight! Think DH is disappointed too as we had kind of convinced ourselves we were going to have a baby.... But I am fairly sure I would have got a BFP if I was by now.
Anyway, sorry for the big long oist - I need to sit and read through everything else that has been happening!! Hope you guys are all ok and had good weekends! XXX

saz007 · 05/08/2008 14:48

Afternoon all,

That book sounds good BSL, I may pay a visit to Waterstones on the way home tonight. I may also pick up the Mylene book

Eth Glad you had a fantastic weekend, but sorry about the test today Will you do another one in a couple of days?

I'm trying to resist testing till the weekend

summerbird · 05/08/2008 14:50

welcome back eth glad you had a fantastic time. sorry about the BFN - i got my AF on Sunday so i was a bit down then but am just thinking of the bonktastic month ahead of me!

eth37 · 05/08/2008 14:53

Hee hee, summerbird - I quite agree! We are away during OVing time this month, so think I will just enjoy that! Saz - I guess I will test if AF is late... SOmething weird is going on with my hormones though I think - my boobs are ridiculous!!! Maybe it's a phantom pregnancy....!

bluestarlavender · 05/08/2008 14:56

Welcome back Eth!!

Not being funny, but you sound PG!! were you in pain with the UTI?? I don't trust any of the tests to be reliable until your due date, plus if it was implantation last Thurs...it's too soon for a BFP!
Anyhow, don't listen to me, I believe everyone is PG - I managed to convince Crunchy the other day...sorry Crunchy!

Crunchy - I do have an ipod touch...the keyboard touchscreen thing is really hard to get used to!! I haven't managed to yet! I find I only use it for music, as you can't get free wifi just anywhere. I do have a blackberry (for work) which I am totally addicted to, but don't really like using for anything other than work...maybe a iphone would be good. I like being mobile as I do go away alot at weekends. I am a bit of a gadget fanatic...but oddly not when it comes to mobiles...I always get something that has loads of stuff on it, but rarely use anything other than phone and text. Admittedly, for my current phone, I have the most stupidly designed thing in the history of phone making!! I can't use the internet on it, because it's double-sided and the side that has the screen for the web doesn't have the keyboard on it...so you can't even type in a webpage to go to! Stupid stupid designers!!

DawnAS · 05/08/2008 15:05

Hi Eth and thank you for your kind words!!

I'm with BSL, it still sounds like you're PG to me. I didn't test until the day before AF was due and got my first BFP, but some people don't get it until after, some even later than that! So I wouldn't feel too defeated just yet!

The more the merrier on the bookclub thing Eth so do please join us!! So, are we agreed then to go with the "Private Lives of Pippa Lee" suggestion? If so, let's all aim to buy it at the weekend and then agree an evening to review it.

I'm happy for someone to set up another thread in the Bookclub section. Then we can all keep it going as we all start to get BFPs and then review Pregnancy and Childbirth books instead - ha ha!!

Anyway, bleeding from MC has completely stopped now so looking forward to BDing, probably from tomorrow/Thursday onwards and see what happens. Hopefully I might still have some of the hormones and they'll help us along!

xx

crunchynutter · 05/08/2008 15:41

Hi eth! i had completely forgotten about your weekend i am sorry! I hope you had a great time -your symptoms sound similar to mine except the spotting! My boobs have been killing me and i have spots but again a BFN so i think its hormones! mind you-maybe it is me thinking about babies sooo much! I'm sure i even have a baby bump

Anyway- i am going to order the book now and a few others -what was the jools one called? I cant seem to find that on waterstones...

What shall we call the thread then so we all know which one? I'll be happy to start it now! xx

summerbird · 05/08/2008 15:47

The Jools one is:

Minus Nine to One - A diary of an honest mum.

It is bright pink with a picture of her holding her baby on the front - i found it in the pregnancy section

saz007 · 05/08/2008 15:50

can i ask to those ladies now afflicted by spots, whether your skin has turned greasy too?

this is concerning me slightly as i've never suffered from spots or greasy skin, even when i was a teenager

i havent changed my skincare regime, so am slightly confused

bluestarlavender · 05/08/2008 15:55

So Saz, Eth and Heverhoney - you guys are all aproaching end of cycle! Ohh exciting!!

I can't help re: spots I'm afraid - I usually have a mini breakout just before AF anyhow, but having not been PG, I don't know about chnage of skin etc.

Fingers crossed for you guys!!

crunchynutter · 05/08/2008 16:04

ive ordered our book club book Myleen Klass and joola oliver and another one called the 'Book Theif' Ive heard some really good reviews about it so im looking forward to that! Any ideas about the name for our book club then so we'll all know which thread? i am hopeful that waterstones will deliver quickly- only problem now is i am completely broke and don't get paid til the end of the month my darling husband has offered to buy my yankee candles for me though as mine have run out! xx

eth37 · 05/08/2008 16:13

Yay - will go and get the Pippa Lee book. I actually picked it up the other day at the station but didn't buy it 'cos it would have meant missing my train!

Saz - re spots (eeew) - I too am at a loss.... Haven't had them since I was about 13 and I am quite cross.... Woke up this morning and my forehead looked greasy (gross) so I guess my skin is more greasy than normal. I am quite freaked out about it.

Thanks girls for your confidence in me being pg - I really do appreciate it!! But I just think it would have been positve this morning on the sensitive First Response ones, don't you think? AF should be due either tomorrow or Thurs so I guess we will see....

Dawn and Summerbird - yay for forthcoming BD-ing!

Heverhoney and Saz, when do you think you might test? If I am still AF-less by Saturday I might have another go.... Must have spent a fortune on those things!

Bonifacio are you feeling better for your chat with DP? Sounds like you got a lot of stuff sorted this weekend.

Crunchy - maybe there's something in the air that's making our boobs big!!! My DH also commented that 'my chest looked different'!! Ha!

crunchynutter · 05/08/2008 16:25

lol My DH is loving it bless him- i must be a late developer (i was only 16 when we met) and i have put on about 2 stone over the last few years but iv gone from a very small B to a DD and now they are tight it is odd as it is just the cup size that has changed- i figured if it was just down to getting (fatter) then my back would have increased too? Think is they have been growing steadily for about a year but have never been painful before- they are very sore at the moment! My DH used to claim he was not a 'breast' man and genuinly didn't seem impressed with large boobed ladies but now he seems very happy with my new additions!

My spots are starting to clear a little- am not wearing any makeup though. I havent had spots for years! ahh, well...

xxx

saz007 · 05/08/2008 16:55

Eth I really dont want to test before Sunday...possibly Saturday....no, must be strong and definitely not test before Sunday AF due to land Fri-Sat, so I hoped if I can hold out til then it might be better.

Well I'm going to see if I can get that book

Saz xx

crunchynutter · 05/08/2008 18:55

ok ladies I have opened our book club thread under book club section under book of the month-you should find our thread! I thought At least then we can keep the chat in one place so those who don't want to talk books won't have to endure it on the baby thread! Anyway I couldn't remember who exactly wanted in and I didn't want to miss Anybody off so have said we can just sign in so to speak when you find the thread or have the book!

Saz it sounds like you are being very good waiting-have you felt any different or is it just thAt you are so close to Af? I've got my fingers crossed for you xxx

Has anybody heard from kalikaroo lately? Hope all is going well so far with your pg! Have you told many people yet? Xx

crunchynutter · 05/08/2008 19:03

baby question that I knowni shouldn't be thinking of yet but I was looking at nursery furniture again what do you all think is best- a Moses basket and crib for first few months or just cot straight away so they don't have to adjust? And do any of you think cot beds are a good idea?I quite like the idea of themed toddler beds so don't know how much use people get out of cot beds !

You could spend thousands couldn't you! I really want to decide which of the spare rooms should be a nursery and although we won't decorate it yet obviously I'd like it measure up and design it a little for when the times right. Xxxx

bluestarlavender · 05/08/2008 20:19

Hey Crunchy - I've been over to check out our new thread!! Thanks for setting it up.

WRT baby furniture. My thought at the moment are to go for a Moses basket in our room for the first couple of months and then a cot bed. I am hoping I can breast feed and so want to keep our bean close for night feeds. You're so right about how much you can spend though!!
