Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

That sounds like what I had in mind but wondered if it was unsettling in anyway when you do move them! Now we have re decorated our bedroom there is a perfect spAce for a Moses basket right at the bottom of our bed not that that was in mind LOL I get very excited when I look at the baby stuff so I really shouldn't look until I am pg! I'm sure the jools and myleene books will do wonders for trying to take my mind off TTC LOL awe well. Thinking about it is part of the joy!

My lovely DH is working away for the rest of the week and is currently cooking me a romantic meal and I'm sulking cos I've had an (indirect argument with my sister-I really need to cheer up! )

Hi Crunchy, I was thinking moses basket in our bedroom for the first few months, then its own cot in the spare room later on. Think the adjusting is something it has to endure to be honest! I reckon it's better to have it in your room first, for night feeds etc, and then as it gets older it can have its own nursery! Our spare room is quite small though... But obviously big enough for a cot! What website have you been looking at? How are your symptoms? I am due AF tomorrow and feeling sad about it!! (Plus got my mother in law and sister in law down for the day so just done big supermarket shop in preparation!!)

crunchynutter · 05/08/2008 21:31

aragh! Just wrote a really long post then lost it all! To summarize- was on john lewis site, it's great there is a section that explains all the differences. Was very informative!

I am very emotional today to be honest. Had a near miss in the car- it's a miracle no one was hurt and now my sister is being a cow!

I hope you have all had a lovely day anyway! Sorry to have a moan! I am going to have a lovely lush filled bath with my DH now xxxx

saz007 · 06/08/2008 08:55

Good morning ladies,

Thanks Crunchy. It's mainly just because AF is close by, if she doesn't turn up at the weekend I will test. The only things I've felt are a bit more tired and a few slight crampy feelings....oh and I am weeing loads - but that's probably due to me drinking more recently!! Starting to feel slightly emotional too but that could be due to AF...bah!

WRT to the baby furniture, I was also thinking of the Moses basket in our room for the first few months and then a cot bed in the spare room nursery

summerbird · 06/08/2008 09:18

Morning ladies

I too am thinking moses basket in our room for a couple of months. Our spare room is currently my dressing room but can easily fit a cot etc.

Kalikaroo is visiting family in UK this week as i remember - i wonder if she has told her parents - i bet she has - i know i would have done!! If not she has nerves of steel!!

My AF finished today (i have very light ones) so my DH is all ready and raring to go on the BDing - i reckon every other day all month!!!!

I am really enjoying the Jools book, and even though am on to the second trimester in the book and she is talking about pregnancy bits i know nothing of, it is a good light hearted read.

FlirtyThirty · 06/08/2008 09:38

Morning ladies!
Just saying a quick hello. Had a shitty couple of days, but I'm back now...

Just opsted on the other thread, but basically, I've done some thinking realise my problem. Basically, I have been trying so hard NOT to put pressure on DH (don't talk about babies a lot; he doesn't know about OPKs, temping etc etc) that I haven't been able to push the nitty-gritty of BDing more and at particular times. Hence, we aren't having enough s*x just now and it's really gertting me down, because I spend many a waking hour reading/planning/thinking about conception, and then I'm having to hide it from him as I don't want to pressurise him...vicious circle stuff...

So, I've decided that next month (much of which we'll be travelling for), I may try and talk to him about the conception window. Not too much, but just so he understands, if he doesn't already.

We talk about everything normally, but I'm really (usually) pussy-footing around this whole PG thing. I think it's because I've wanted to start trying for ages and DH has only just come round to the idea and so I don't want to frighten him off or anything. Typing that now, it sounds so silly. I love DH and he's kind and sweet and smart...why on earth I should be worried about talking about this, I don't know...but I am.

So, anyway, I have resigned myself, that in spite of a good start, this is not our month. Must not get hung up on every month and instead just aim for a BFP by the new year. I will go crazy and get depressed otherwise.

Anyway...will catch up on other posts later...just saying 'hi' really.

Love to you all...and hope all's well in your worlds!

Flirty x

crunchynutter · 06/08/2008 09:38

aha! Kalkaroo mystery solved-I had it in my head she was going to visit Christmas for some reason! It has all come back to me now! I would have to have told too- well find out what she has done soon!

It's nice to know the jools book Is good- mine should be here any day now! Xx

crunchynutter · 06/08/2008 10:50

flirty I have only just read your post I'm sorry! I hope you are feeling better-I think we are pretty much all trying to stop being as obsessed and relax our thinking a little so don't worry. It is good that you know what is bothering you though and I hope your chat with you husband all goes wonderfully which I'm sure it will xx

Bonifacio · 06/08/2008 11:14

Hellooo everyone.

Just a quick hello while I wait for my massage! I'm in a lit of pain after going to the gym! ANd I just found the stairs in our 52 storey appt block so did a bit of stair climbing too (aparently its the best thing to make your ass smaller!!) And I need this smaller ass because.... Just booked me and DP a holiday in 18 days time I am going to be sunning myself in Muscat yey, never been there either which is always a bonus, Have either of the travel writers been?? Tell me about it if you have!!

On the BD'ing front be and DP had sex for the first time in a week ish yesterday though he still isn't feeling up to (sorry tmi) but we're taking baby steps and have both agreed that we should just up our sex and hope for the best. He actually had a look at one of my books yesterday, I don't think he meant for me to see, but I thinks his cold feet are slowly starting to warm up a little

I shall have a look in the book club thread to see what book you have chosen!!

Oooh and Crunchy we will be having a crib in our room at first. I looked at moses baskets but a lot of them looked flimsy and they we're very easy to push over (I did actually push one over in mothercare!!) so maybe wouldn't be practical if ever you had a toddler nearby!!

bluestarlavender · 06/08/2008 11:37

Crunchy - I've been doing some research into agnus castus...a herbal remedy. Someone told me on the Bonkers thread that it could help with CM. Anyhow doing a little research into it and it also seems to be able to help with bring back regular cycles, including after depo injection. I just thought I'd let you know...

B - Good to see you sounding so busy and positive!! Greta news about DP's warming toes! I would definitely leave your books out again so he can sneakily have a read!!

BSL x

summerbird · 06/08/2008 12:38

boni i am really pleased, you sound much more positive than last week and i think that by you cooling down with DH he has started warming up!! Good luck.

flirty hope you are feeling better, i think you are just having a blip and taking stock of the situation. I think that we are all feeling a bit like that at the moment, i had a sobbing fit when my AF came on Sunday and it has only been 5 cycles. I am trying to be a bit more relaxed about it this month too.

crunchynutter · 06/08/2008 13:43

ooh BSL thank you! I have started taking my pregnacare conception tablets but had never heard of that! I shall look for I now though-do you mind me asking where it had mentioned about helping after depo? Thanks for thinking about me

About the furniture- I do love the look of the moses baskets but am a little concerned about their strength with my dog! He has full access to the house and he sleeps with me and I know some people don't agree with pets in houses but I don't want him to be pushed out-I actually think he'll be quite protective and loving around our babies as (I know it sounds strange) I think he'll know that they are part of our family. That said,he can be. Little clumsy and excitable so obviously he can't go crashing into a Moses basket and sending the new addition flying! I haven't looked at any in 'real life' just on websites-are they all flimsy? Xx

DawnAS · 06/08/2008 13:50

Hello all,

Just popping in quickly during my lunch-break!!

In our family, we all had Moses Baskets when we were babies and were then moved to cots. My sisters then did the same with their babies. The nice thing with them, is that because they're fairly light, you can have them downstairs in the lounge with you aswell if the babies are having problems settling and then once they're asleep, you can carry them upstairs in it.

My Mum only had to do it a couple of times and then after that we settled at night, but that's how she did it!

crunchy we have two cats who have the lie of the land too. i also get the impression they will be fine with babies but my friend who has just had a baby insists on having a net over her DDs cot to stop her cats suffocating her baby.

i am not sure whether my friend is being over obsessive or not, i dont really want to be turning my house into fort knox as i dont want the cats to be pushed out too. am i being over protective of the cats now??!!

summerbird · 06/08/2008 13:52

Hi Dawn i agree with you - our parents seemed to manage it fine and we didnt come to any harm!

How are you today?

DawnAS · 06/08/2008 13:56

Hi Summerbird,

Your cats may well be fine. We've got a similar problem but our cat will be banned from the room as she's a bengal and they don't gel particularly well with children at the best of times and especially ours who has never really been around one. She even gets annoyed with our dog, because she (the cat) was here first.

I don't think cats would necessarily sit on the baby and suffocate them, I'd just be concerned about claws if the baby grabbed the tail or something....

I am very protective over my dog! It's good to hear I am not alone!

Another silly question so I know you are supposed to cut down on tea and coffee but am not exactly clear why and am finding it hard. I am guessing it is because of the caffine if this is the case does anybody know if caffine free versions are ok? I think it's the comfort of having a Warm drink I like but I have to have one at all times and am finding it impossible to cut down! Xxx

summerbird · 06/08/2008 14:32

i gave up coffee a couple of years ago (but am back on it!). i found green tea was a good substitute, it is v refreshing if you get the right one (whittards' jasmine green tea is lovely). i also felt that i only needed a warm drink in the morning

i think you are ok on decaf though if you cant totally cut down.

good news on the cats - they are officially our 'babies' - we are so sad, we even call ourselves mummy and daddy.......

bluestarlavender · 06/08/2008 14:41

Crunchy - www.babyexpert.com/chatroom/topic/21225 I was searching about and went to a few different websites. This was just one of the threads I read through and someone here said about the depo injection and this remedy.

On to the subjects of cats, my sis has a tonkinese and she is absolutely smitten with my sis's DC. Bells tugs and abuses her no end, but she just loves the attention and never reacts! Our cat on the other hand is an Egyptian Mau, and he is terrified of small children and especially babies. Dawn - I think some Bengals are part Egyptian mau (Asian leopard cat bred with Egyptian Mau amongst other things). So if your bengal is anything like our cat...it's a good plan to shut them out of the nursery. As much as I love our cat, he is extremely naughty. I am sure he'll get used to a baby in the house, but I am a bit concerned about this actually! We inherited our cat from my sis, he was the first cat in their house and then they bought the tonkinese to keep him company. He loathed her on sight and started to have behavioural problems. Since coming to live with us, he's a reformed character and I would hate to think that a baby would cause him to have a relapse!

crunchynutter · 06/08/2008 14:53

BSL thank you! I am considering buying some next time I a. Shopping. Have seen then at holland and barat in two sizes-it's got to be worth a try!

you have made me laugh with the cats my dog only knows is as mommy and daddy LOL he gets really excited when I tell Him dadies coming home LOL I'd hate for him to get pushed out And I do believe it's good for children to grow up around pets! Xx

Bonifacio · 06/08/2008 15:16

Ahh your all so lucky having your pets with you! I had to leave my baby in England with my parents!! I cry every time I have to leave her!!!

bluestarlavender · 06/08/2008 15:18

B - who's your baby??

makingafamily · 06/08/2008 15:19

Just wanted to say Hello all, i am first time TTC, starting next month and just wanted to say hi and wish you lots of luck on your baby making journeys

DawnAS · 06/08/2008 16:07

Hi Makingafamily and welcome to a wonderful thread!!

All the girls on here are fantastic, lovely and wonderfully supportive. And most importantly, we're all in the same boat!

I successfully conceived at the end of June after only trying for 1 month but unfortunately had a MC at the weekend and these girls have absolutely helped me to recover.

Planning on trying again starting this weekend (I had the MC so early that there's nothing to stop me trying again straight away). I'm 34 and only got married in April after looking for Mr Right for years, so the delay in starting a family hasn't necessarily been a choice thing for me. But as I got PG in the first month of trying, I guess both DH and I have all working parts!!

So what's your situation?

If you need to understand some of the acronyms, there's a list available under Useful Stuff at the top of the page.
