Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

Hi Crunchy, I'd be happy to talk books with you!!

I am sorry to say this, but I feel quite lucky with my DH...he wants to know everything and is super keen to make a little bluestar. I guess what I wanted to say is that although things are okay now for us. It was me who had the major freak outs over TTC. We had made plans twice before, before we were married and I freaked out so bad we actually split up twice. Although I really wanted children I just didn't feel ready to be a mum and for my body to go through all the changes. I was terrified. The sad thing was I couldn't talk to my DH at the time. I felt my feelings were wrong. I should have been 100% maternal and have no doubts.

There are two things I wanted to add to this...please don't think I'm being insensitive towards any of you about your DHs/DPs, just because I'm not in the same situation...and I hope because I was the one who freaked out, maybe I can help give a different perspective.

I can quite understand my DP freakout. There is some infertility in my family, which I have always taken as a warning sign for myself. I have had to come to terms with my feelings about trying for children a lot earlier than most people. In turn I heaped a load of pressure on my DP. ANYONE would have freaked out under the circumstances.

After our earlier issues I worried that I had pressured him into TTC but I am over that now. We talked about it long and hard, he said he was ready, we gave it a little while to sink in and be sure then as soon as we started to TTC DP was really really happy and excited by the prospect. He even has the potential test date in his diary!!!

Kids are a HUGE step, I think its strange when people DONT freak out a bit!!

Hello ladies! Just wanted to say hello and good luck to everyone this month.

Dawn I?m so sorry to hear your news. You sound really poisitive though!

Crunchy - when I came off the pill in Jan I had sore boobs and spots on my chin for about 2 months! I was really stressed about the spots as I never get any usually and they were really gross! They have completely gone now though!

I am trying ovulation strips this month, never used them before - going to try one tomorrow! (Should ovulate around Wednesday I think).

crunchynutter · 04/08/2008 15:09

my DH initiated the TTC too-he wanted me to stop the injection last year- I wish I had now but I was a little scared! I guess I though I'd get pg straight away and had just started a new job so wasn't ready then! He's very lovely about things though and is very laid back so it always helps me to put things into perspective!
possy thanks! It's good to know it's not just my body. I guess I've Been on it for that long it's inevitable there is going to be lots of changes going on!

DawnAS · 04/08/2008 16:00

Crunchy and BSL, can I join your book-club too?!! I love reading!! So who are your favorite authors?

I love:- Danielle Steele, James Patterson, Cathy Kelly, Jill Mansell, Cecelia Ahern, Josephine Cox, Virginia Andrews and loads of others.

Maybe we should do that, maybe between us, we should decide on a book, read it and then talk about it - what do you think?!

Dawn - Good idea! I like loads and loads of authors!! I've read quite a few of the Richard and Judy recommendations which are usually pretty good! I'm reading Ghostwalk at the moment by Rebecca Stott. I like James Patterson, Carol Goodman, Harui Murakami, Joanna Harris, G.W. Dahlquist and loads of others...I have to admit to having never read a Danielle Steele book...I'm going to have to give her a go!

BSL x

crunchynutter · 04/08/2008 16:28

wow I'd. Be up for that! I read all sorts too but I'll admit I have never read danielle steele either I'd be willing to try? How shall we decide on a book? Xx

saz007 · 04/08/2008 16:30

Oooooh! Can I join in the book club please?

I like loads of authors too, Patricia Cornwell is one of my faves. I'm reading Run by Jeff Abbott at the minute (makes my commute go quicker!) it's a thriller and it's very exciting

I'm always up for reading something new, so all suggestions welcome!!

I'm like you BSL, I've never read a Dannielle Steele book either, are they the ones that get made into TV movies?

crunchynutter · 04/08/2008 16:36

patricia cornwall I'd my favourite too! Have any of you read the silver pigs by Lindsay davis? I bought it last month cos I read a really good review on it and it doesn't sound like something I'd usually pick up- I haven't started it yet cos I was reading something else! Look it up and see if it looks of any interest to you xx

DawnAS · 04/08/2008 16:42

Going to look that one up now Crunchy and see what I think!!

If we decide to go with that one, cool. If not, then maybe we should go with the latest Richard and Judy recommendation (have no idea what it is mind....).

Karin slaughter is very good- same sort of genre as Cornwall and patterson but very good!I lost the books I had of hers when we started decorating though so can't remember what they are called. It's very exciting isn't it ! Xx

crunchynutter · 04/08/2008 16:45

that would be a good idea- makes it easy to choose each month then too xx

saz007 · 04/08/2008 16:50

Good idea Dawn

crunchynutter · 04/08/2008 16:55

shall we have our chats on here or do you think we should open a new thread with a code name hehe xx I'm guns try to find out what the Richard and judy book is xx

crunchynutter · 04/08/2008 17:07

you can order the first 5 for 25 pound and there are Reading notes that we could discuss if we get stuck (ive never done it before so I might be a bit slow with my suggestions at first !).

DawnAS · 04/08/2008 17:50

Does anyone know how to set up a site with an instant message thingy? It might be quicker than using this site. We could still keep our "baby names" so that we'd know who was who.

Have no idea how to do it though, unless we all sign up for MSN Messenger?! Then we could have a weekly session where we all get together with virtual wine and chocolate and discuss the book to our hearts content!!

heverhoney1 · 04/08/2008 18:28

Can I join please?? Can I suggest Tess Gerritson books for those who like Patricia Cornwall. The apprentice and the Surgeon are amazing. Also Mo Hayder but you have to have a strong stomach as they are a bit gorey

DawnAS · 04/08/2008 19:08

How exciting - a book club!!

Well maybe we can change the genre of the book each month. One gorey one, then one romance, then a thriller etc etc. As long as there's none about problems conceiving - we would have read enough of those by then!!

At least if we change them all the time, we should get through all of the genres that everyone likes to read, that way making it fair on everyone.

By the way girls, I phoned that Psychic back again and told her about the MC. She was really shocked but then said what I'd thought myself, that I will conceive again really quickly and that's the baby that they were talking about. As she said, she can only tell me what she's being told.

I'm sure you all think I'm completely nuts, but sometimes I need a boost to get over things and move on and that conversation this evening has definitely helped that!!

dawn i too thought that about your psychic - i wondered if you would get PG straight away after this month - it could always be an end of april baby!

your book club sounds exciting - i would love to join but i have no commitment with books - it can take me ages to read one! hope you all stay on this thread though!! x

crunchynutter · 04/08/2008 20:40

I think it's great How positive you've been about the psychic-I was wondering if you would speak to her again.

Book club update I think it will be best if we start a thread on here. DH was saying something about starting a blog but I am awful with anything technical a d figured we could All work this site! Shall we start it under conception and link the name so we ca All find it easily? Something like 'first time TTC- how about some RnR?!'
LOL

crunchynutter · 04/08/2008 20:43

oh And heverhoney I will look up those authors-I must admit I have a bit of a sick mind (my poor husband gets worries sometimes LOL) but I do enjoy the gruesome details! Xxxx

DawnAS · 04/08/2008 21:03

Hey All,

Crunchy, Ok, let's go with that then and have a new thread. Let's think about a good book. We can all read a few reviews on some best sellers and make a decision on Friday and then we can all go and buy the books at the weekend.

That'll give me chance to finish reading the one that I've just started.

Yay! Something else to put our minds to. I can imagine it now, all our DHs/DPs will come up to bed and expect us to be ready and waiting and we'll be there with a mug of cocoa and a book - - maybe we should read some "Black Lace" books from Ann Summers instead -

xxx

PS: Off to finish my book now, otherwise I'll never be ready to start our one!!

Summerbird, thanks for you note on the Psychic. I had thought it aswell so it was nice to actually hear her say that that's what she now thinks aswell, without me prompting her!!

Thanks for all your support over the last few days aswell, it means so much.

Sleep well!!

Hi guys,

Just got in from cat sitting as my parents and sis and hubby are all on holiday.

Dawn - I agree with Summerbird...it could happen again straight away...

Anyhow, yay about the book club idea! By the way, there's actually a book club section in the talk threads...maybe we should set our thread up there?

I am going to have a good think about some book recommendations!! I saw a good one on Amazon the other day...it was new and upcoming authors. Can't for the life of me, remember what it was now. I'll do some searching tomorrow!

Off to bed...gonna try out the pre-seed. But also feeling Bleurh!! I have awful allergies and my sister's cat sets me off as bad as grass pollen! I look a fright, poor DH!
