Hi All,

This is a difficult time for most women (and men) I think.

Certainly for me, I've waited a long time to get to this stage , having not met Mr Right until the age of 31. Now 34 and got married 2 months ago and now want to complete the family!

So, just started "trying" for a baby and due to my impatient nature, have already started using Ovulation Kits. (Probably not a good idea). I also did the Female Fertility Test and that seemed to have a good result aswell.

I was on Dianette for 8 years and came off of it 3 years ago. My cycles became regular again but every 5 weeks instead of 4. I had previously come off of the pill for 6 months and my cycles were regular, so I guess all this is a good sign.

Anyone else had similar experiences and fallen pregnant quickly? I know everyone's different but any good news stories help move us all along!! .

xx

I have only been taking pregnacare. Its probably not that but I cant think of anything else I have done different and as I said it was the first time my period came within 3 months of the 1 before in 4 years!

Hope the head feels better soon!!

saz007 · 25/07/2008 12:19

I've been taking Sanatogen ProNatal for a couple of months - anyone know if they are any good? They're certainly making my purse lighter

Crunchy you have my sympathies, I get headaches (had one since last Friday) but migraines must be awful. Hope you feel better soon!

crunchynutter · 25/07/2008 12:39

I havent vomitted with it yet and can still see so its not a bad one- hopefully iv caught it early- i have had lots to drink and some paracetamol! my migraines usually make me ill for days so im hoping its a small one! its all over one eye though and i feel quesy and my vision is blurred so definitly a migraine as if i dont need anything else to make me miserable! lol

Sorry Heverhoney did you mean you got a period three months after taking pregnacare and hadnt had one for over a year before taking them? i really should look these things up! I am seriously considering reflexology or accupunture to try to stimulate my ovaries or whatever to make me work again lol im just waiting to get paid!

SO pregnant ladies... How are you feeling today? Have you demanded loads of ben and jerrys of your other halfs and put them as cravings?? I cant wait for that

heverhoney1 · 25/07/2008 12:46

sorry I didnt word it very well. I came off the pill 4 years ago - I was without period at all for 18 months. Then they started to show up but very irratically with the shortest time between them being 3 months. That is untill last month!!! When - Although very bad timing because it turned up on the first day of a short break away- it showed up 1 month after the last.

I dont want to big up the pregnacare too much but it just seemed a bit of a coincidence that the month I start taking them is the month my period shows up on time. It was either that or my body kicked in at the thought of us trying

crunchynutter · 25/07/2008 12:58

ahhh thanks- i only recently found out my sister had had depo too (we dont tend to discuss personal stuff- must be that strict catholic upbringing lol) she wasnt on it for half as long as me and said she didnt have a period for just over a year aww well, i shall take my vitamins and hope! We can celebrate all your babies first birthdays on here while im still trying lol! Knowing my luck though, if i had have stopped it earlier we would have had a baby too early! i figured though, if i conceive around november theres a chance i would have the baby in the six weeks holidays which would be great! always a positive side i suppose

heverhoney1 · 25/07/2008 13:09

Everyone reacts to these thisngs differently. I think they should let you know more about it before giving people hormonal treatments - If I had known it would mess me up as much as it did I would have stuck with the condoms.

I have had to go through blood tests and internal ultrasounds and constant worry and pressure. And thats before we even decided to start trying. On the upside though the ultra sound showed I had ovulated before they did it so I suppose I know I work sometimes.

I will prob be right here waiting with you crunchy!! fingers crossed it wont be too long xxxxxx

crunchynutter · 25/07/2008 13:25

lol Saz and Summerbird!

Herverhoney it is nice to know im not the only one- i got upset last night telling my husband i dont work and im a man with boobs (he found it quite funny but gave me a hug anyway and told me not to be silly!) They never discussed it with me at all if im honest- i was only young and periods were erratic anyway (i danced too and often had painful period pains) so they said it would stop that- said the pill would be bad because iv always had violent headaches but all they told me was i could gain some weight but they werent concerned as i was tiny anyway. I have since heard there are LOADS more side effects than that and they played down returning to fertility- she asked about children when i told them i was getting married bt i explained i wanted to complete my NQT year before we had any children- in retrospect they should have then reccomended me coming off depo and using something else i suppose so by now my body might be working! She just said 'it can take a while but it varies' i now feel it will take forever!

How/why did you have the ultrasounds Heverhoney? I hope all is well xx

heverhoney1 · 25/07/2008 13:28

Isnt it strange how you react to other peoples news when you desperatly want a baby of your own? The people on here, friends and even people at work I have been over joyed for I am so happy for you all!!!! Yet my SIL a while back and I broke down in hysterics it just didnt seem fair at all (there are other circumstances surrounding it but lets not go into that.) DP litterally had to pick me up from the floor I was crying so much.

Bonifacio · 25/07/2008 13:31

Wow, you lot are posting like mad!!

Crunchy Bad luck with the migraines, I get them too. Though at least you can still see, haven't thrown up etc. I actually haven't had one in ages, which is quite lucky as I used to get them all the time!

Regarding vitamins, I am taking folic acid, 5mg which is 10 times more than your supposed to but best I can do over here!! (I decided against the multivitamin, it had so much in it and I do eat quite well, so figured I would be ok!)

Glad you all think 45 mins is ok! I normally do between an hour and a half and two hours so compared to that it wasn't very good. I'm really trying to lose some weight before I get pg, I don't want to have loads to lose after i've given birth!!

BSL How long is your cycle, we are almost the same!!

I am off out soon for dinner and drinks, I too am dreading not being able to have a drink (and a crafty cig ) I don't do too well at the weekend on either!! If I have a drink I want a cig... Its a lose lose situation!! I am hoping that I will get pg soon but DP's sister is visiting in December so I won't be able to drink while she is here (torture i'll need it to cope with her, completely thinks the sun shines out of her big bro's arse!!) and she will definately suspect something. My plan is really to get pg this month then it will be just in time for us to go back to UK for xmas and be able to tell all our families face to face at the 12 week ish point!!

STill waiting for DP to get in...Its 20:30

....Come on the CD5 Gang!!!

heverhoney1 · 25/07/2008 13:35

Because my period hadnt showed up in so long they thought I might have had PCOS so they wanted to scan the overies.

Good news - I have overies!! and one had shown signs of ovulating. My body likes playing tricks so the day after my scan my period showed up for the first time in 18 months! Overies showed no signs of cysts so that was good too and my blood results said my hormones were within normal boundaries.

Bad news- they never did find out what was wrong with me. HAd a smear a couple of months ago (More nurses have seen intimate parts of me than men!!!)and the nurse said if my results came back ok (which they did) I should go back and they might refer me to a gynae. But as I said PEriod showed on time this month so am gonna give it a couple of months of trying and then head to the docs AGAIN!!!!

Bonifacio · 25/07/2008 13:36

We're all going to be BD'ing at the same time, if I think of that mid sex.....I will laugh!

heverhoney1 · 25/07/2008 13:43

I think out theme tune should be -

Get down on it, get down on it!! How you gonna do it if you really dont take a chance!! ROFL

bluestarlavender · 25/07/2008 13:48

Bonifacio - My cycle is 28 days long. How about you?? I think Flirty is also CD5 today...we can all hold hands! Totally know what you mean about the not drinking and people will think somethings up!! I am probably going to tell close friends as soon as I get pregnant, as they'll probably all guess if I'm not drinking

I think it's a great idea to get nice and fit before getting pregnant! I'm going to be super good this month and eat well, as well as doing some pilates. I also just bought a Wii fit...so could try some yoga and hulahooping!

I'm taking pregnacare (the one with the omega 3 oils too) at the moment, which are fine. But as they are more expensive than the sanatogen, so I bought 3 packs of those in Boots the other day - buy 2 get 3rd free!

Crunchy - sorry about the headache and fingers crossed for supplements bringing back your cycles.

From the stats it looks like we going to have some little clusters of people around the same CD! Fingers crossed for a month full of BFPs!!

BSL x

saz007 · 25/07/2008 13:56

I take omega 3 at the minute but I think it's from fish oil - which I've been told you shouldnt take while pg - are any omega 3 capsules safe to take?

BSL I love my Wii fit, it's just so funny it doesn't feel like exercise - especially if you're like me and forget to close the blinds when doing the hulahooping...oh the shame when the neighbours teenage son walked past and burst out laughing

FlirtyThirty · 25/07/2008 14:03

Bonifacio - PMSL at having sex simultaneously! I bet I do think of you all now!!!

As as for SIL guessing why you're not drinking...trun the problem on its head and tell her that you've given up drinking temporarily as part of your bid to totally quit smoking!

Flirty x

bluestarlavender · 25/07/2008 15:25

Saz - I didn't know fish oil is bad...I'm taking the ones in the pregnacare pack that you can take from pre-conception right through breast feeding...weird!! My sis took krill oil and she swears it's the reason she doesn't have a single stretch mark. I'd best look in to this!! Any idea where you heard/read this???

Heverhoney - am loving our theme tune!!

summerbird · 25/07/2008 15:27

bonifaco OMG i am going to be in hysterics when BDing!!!!!

heverhoney you had me PMSL at your song - it is now in my head for the rest of the afternoon..!!!!!!!!!

am off to see my friend this weekend with her new baby lol am really happy for her, have a good weekend ladies

saz007 · 25/07/2008 15:45

BSL, it's oils from the liver of the fish that are dangerous, like cod liver oil. These contain too much vitamin A and can cause problems with embryos....one thing I remember from uni!!!

Just had a look here www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/nutrition/foodsafety/fishoilexpert/ and as long as the oil is not from the liver it seems ok. Need to go and check with Holland and Barrett about the ones I've got!

bluestarlavender · 25/07/2008 15:48

Phew...I'm taking the right fish oil, the ones that help babies eyes and brain.

Thanks for the link, Saz. That babycentre website is pretty useful!!
