Thanks for all the advice, guys. It might be that I tested too early and AF might not come. But I suspect WAP is right and the cramps are probably from my body just adjusting to no IUD. It's annoying cos they do hurt in dull achy annoying way.

belgian! belgian! belgian! belgian! I'm excited for you!!!!

Hey Belgian, I'll fight you for the title of "Manic Knicker Checker" PMSL (of course PMSL won't help the knicker-checking....)

I did have to get up in the night 3 times last night to go for a wee - not happy at all!!! Oh well, if I am PG I guess I'd better get used to no sleep!! Boo hoo - no lie-ins until the child's at least a stroppy teenager....

At 34, my body isn't used to going without sleep - I hope I learn to adjust!!

Hey Bellie,

Can I ask you about the Amniocentesis test. I note you mentioned that the signs of you having a downes baby are very slim, how can they tell?

I was just reading about the test yesterday and it really sounds horrendous... Do you know how they decide whether you should have it or not? We haven't got any history of any illnesses in either family so is that how they would decide. I'm just (by a month) 34 so would they want to do it automatically?

Hi Dawn, I have just had the nuchal scan (combined test with bloods) done, which is how they work out the risk of downs. Of course the test is not perfect but for a woman of my age (35) the risk is normally 1 in 335, but after the measurements from the nuchal scan and the bloods my risk has dropped to 1 in 4572. So obviously I am pleased and there is little need for amniocentesis ( I agree it does sound horrible).

I guess it is still a bit of a postcode lottery whether you get nuchal scan on the nhs - I am in surrey, but I know a friend in Lincolnshire paid to have the nuchal done privately (she was 34).

HTH! and good luck with the knicker checking!

Dawn-my tests came back 1:195 which is below the 1:250 safe line (mainly due to being 36 and very overweight) so I saw a consultant and had a detailed scan but still needed to know so had an amnio. It was very straightforward with the only hurty bit being the initial pricking of the needle and when it went through the muscle. I rested for 2 days and got the results of the F.I.S.H test 2 days later and all was clear. The worst bit was waiting all day for the phone to ring. They give you the odds of MC for your hospital and I think mine was 1:200 so I considered that good odds. You have blood tests taken at approx 16 weeks and they use this to calculate your risk. In the old days you were offered an amnio down to age but certainly not now. If your odds are fine you won't automatically be offered one. I am hoping my odds will be better but will not hesitate to have an amnio again. When is AF due?

Must go and get DD1 from school. Rather hoping for news from belgian.

Love to all.

I am in Lincolnshire and we don't get a nuchal. Have to rely on blood tests. Would add that my friend got a similar result to me and it turned out they had input her due date into their computer wrongly which swung the odds the wrong way.

DD, BSL and DaisyJ sorry to hear this wasn?t your month. I know the feeling far too well but keeping spirits up is v helpful for the new cycle. Fingers crossed bunny rabbits girls.

CE so happy the Body Shop party went well ? wish I could have been there. Those body butter thingys seem gorgeous.

BB any news?! xx [mandy showels baby dust emoticon]

Bellie so pleased your nuchal scan went well ? just looking into booking mine privately - there' not offered here in Oxfordshire - £180 with bloods. Oh well. Hope you?re not drowning in laundry.

HC sorry the witch seems to have got you . Happy you enjoyed the dance performance though, sounds v cute. I can?t belive you used to be v big, in your pics you look tiny!

MJIM you sound busy and happy as ever! Sorry I can't think of a new thread name - anything with Bonkers in it is fine with me.

Wellies how are you feeling?

Dawn when are you testing woman? You?re being ever so good .

Waves to everyone else, hope you?re OK.

Thank gawd - finally rid of second bunch of house guests in a week & washed all the bedlinen & towels. Lovely but tiring. Have just come back from GP who dated me as 6 weeks (just) ? no idea how they work out these things, I thought I was 5 + 3 . Feeling great though, it?s really starting to sink in now.

Hi Mandy,

Did you book your appointment with your GP as soon as you found out that you were PG?

I guess that's the benefit of having a 35 day cycle, I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow if they take it from the first day of the last period, assuming that I'm PG. I'm going to feel such a dope if I'm not, after all this!! But I'll just use the excuse that it's my first month of TTC so not knowing what to expect!!

Well, reddy/browny CM usually starts on the Sunday, but nothing, just yellow as it's been since the bleed (poss Implantation ) last week.

Still completely exhausted. Mandy, did you feel like you were completely out of it most of the time, like there was a haze around you. That's how I feel, completely knackered and just not with it at all! Had to go for a wee 3 times during the night aswell - not happy!! Although DH was even less happy ... All my muscles really ache aswell, especially in my legs and bum cheeks aswell actually...

I ordered some tests on Ebay and they haven't arrived yet!! How annoying!!

Dawn it all sounds really hopeful... Fingers crossed!
Aches and pains are normal early on as the body lowers the immune system in order that it doesn't reject the 'alien body'. I was whacked and in a daze, yes. V excited too though... Esp since the pre-AF spotting never came. I waited about five days before I rang the GP's surgery and said: 'I've recently tested positive, never really done this before, not sure what to do or who to see!'
Are you tempted to splash out on a CB or First Response if no ebay tests tomorrow?

DawnAS · 21/07/2008 17:18

Well Mandy, strange you should say that, I've got to go shopping tomorrow evening and was starting to think that I may have to, if only to keep my sanity!! I usually get the first real blood on the Wednesday so that will probably give me an answer, but if the tests are fairly accurate, I should get a clear positive doing one on Wednesday morning...

Hi Everyone no time to catch up properly as have not checked the thread for a few days and is hard to keep up.

Bellie glad your scan went well. Wanted to let you know we had our 20 week scan today and all was fine. Did not find out the sex though both thought we may have spotted a willy!
Still recovering from having 20 children in my house on Saturday for DD's birthday part.

Anyway hope everyone else is OK-will have a read when the kids are in bed to catch up with everyone's news

Really pleased that your scan went well majormoo - did you want to see a willy or did you want to find one missing ? It must be hard, everyone is asking me already if I will find out the sex - I am really not sure but am a bit more curious than I was with dd.

Thanks WaP, I'm still hoping that it's not all in my head. I must have gone to the loo so many times today just to "check" that AF hasn't arrived....

I'm hoping that my tests arrive tomorrow and then I'll do one and I should know one way or the other...

Majormoo glad everything went well today.

Bellie I've already decided that when it comes to my turn, I will want to know. Only because I don't particularly want a boy. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with boys at all, I'm just used to girls. I've got 3 sisters and 1 brother, 2 nieces and 1 nephew but I seem to have been around girls a lot more and feel comfortable with them. At least if I found out that I was having a boy, I'd have time to get my head around it. You always love them no matter what they are though!!

xx

PS: Saying all that, my nephew is my special little treasure - although he's 7 years old now so not that little...

BB - I totally agree with HC...let's hold hands and do this together. I know I'm new to this, but I'm already realising how hard this is and how painful it can be.

We'll have a BD fest for this month all together...let's take some leaves out of Mandy's book and go for the John Wayne month...new cycle, new beginning. I have good feelings about August!

Hi guys,

Sorry BB, keep at it girl!! You will get there.

Well, just had an email from the person on Ebay (after my frantic emails when the tests still didn't arrive yesterday) checking to make sure that they've got my order right!! What??!! They were supposed to do Next Day Delivery (if paid for before 4pm) and I paid for them on Friday lunchtime!!! Oooh, they are going to feel my wrath if they don't arrive today!! I've never left a negative feedback before but I will this time! Don't mess with a woman TTC!!!

Good luck Dawn!! Buy the tests!! we are all dying to know!!

BB, DD and CE - I'm with you guys, let's go for 4 out of 4 for BFPs this month!! Who else is joining us??

Hi to everyone else!!

Dawn - sorry, I meant 'buy the BOGOF tests'!! With my ebay OV and PG tests, I had to email them straight after confirming my 'win' and say how many I wanted of each, cos they were pick and mix. Not sure if yours were like that. They came the next day after I did that.

Hey all,

I thought I'd probably paid too much HC, but I wanted the plastic stick ones as opposed to the ones that you dip into a cup.... I don't know why.... So they're very similar to the First Response ones in Boots, but 5 of them for £2.49 (plus postage) and then by mistake, I bought some more!! Doh!! It's not like I don't know how to use Ebay - I obviously wasn't concentrating....

So, waiting for postman now - apparently they were definitely sent out on Friday 1st class (yeah right....) . Actually feeling really nervous!!

Decided that I won't have anything else to drink now to build up some undiluted hormones and then will try after lunch....

Could prove impossible though since, even though I didn't have to get up through the night to wee last night, I was up at 6.30am to wee, followed by more at 7.45am, 8.30am and just now at 9.45am... Hmmm, holding it in now is going to be interesting....

Still no sign of brown CM though, that's now three days overdue...

xxx

PS: Feeling really nervous now....
