Hello everyone, Sorry to hear about your BFN HC, but as ceebee says when MJIM finds out she will be cross!!!!

Hello to Wellies and others, nice to see you. I have not read whole thread as you have been really chatty today. I have tried to make follow up appointment without success, they are meant to follow an unsuccessful IVF cycle, and as you can imagine I have had a few. Basically they use them to make a plan, but they have run out of plans for me, as technically there is no reason why I am not conceiving, but getting pregnant is rarely technical as we all know! I have been unable to make an appointment because the next one is in July when we go on Holiday then the consultant goes on holiday and and we move house, so have asked for an earlier appointment, but I have not heard back. I must admit that in the 10 years I have been at the Chelsea and Westminster the medical care has been excellent, but the personal care has been slowly going down, that plus the the petty minded bureaucrats who make life difficult have been getting me down. So as we only have two attempts left before we run out of sperm, I think we are going to change clinics and go private (not that we haven't paid on the NHS) to the Lister. So I'll think I'll ring for an appointment in the morning. I don't know if we need to be referred, but I'll find out when I ring.

Sorry about the long post

Sorry to hear about your car Ceebee, and like the name change Baileymist!

WelliesAndPyjamas · 19/06/2008 21:16

I will resist. I will resist. Except, no, I probably won't! Actually I'm safe from the ebay ones since I live abroad so I'll pretend you didn't say that.

Been reading up and I think I might have that sense of smell thing. Either that or everything around me really does smell of chicken poo. Nice.

Night all and thanks for the welcome

ChocolateEclair · 19/06/2008 21:26

Oh soosy - don't know what to say . Hope you can get in with the new hospital, it does sound like it might be worth trying something new. (Am I allowed to ask why you might run out of sperm? Realise this might not be something you wish to answer so please ignore if you want). It's good to hear that you are hopefully going to try again soon though, you are so brave you know. IVF must be such a rollercoaster, but you always sound really positive

ceebee - grr about the car. My exhaust has fallen off 2 months running (different bits!) and I hate dealing with garages and more specifically mechanics!

HC and wellies - I will substitute for MyJob. "NO MORE TESTING GIRLS!" You must resist!!!!

he he he ...nah you girls test away to your hearts content!...only kidding MJIM when you read this! LOL!

Hmm - think I might buy some more opk's off ebay soon. Won't be too long before I can start POAS again!

CE the sperm thing, DS is a donor sperm baby. We only have to vials of the same donor as DS (I would want DS to have a full sibling and also the laws on sperm donors has changed. DH has severe male fertility problem (low count, lots of abnormals, and slow swimmers.) They couldn't find anything wrong with me. We tried 9 attempts at ICSI (IVF where they inject the sperm into the egg and I got pg first time, mc). 8 attempts later, my consultant thought that the it was the sperm that preventing pregnancy and suggested donor sperm, which we did and I had DS first IVF attempt with donor sperm (all donor sperm is frozen and success rates are best when used with IVF). But now it would appear I may have some problems of my own! One theory is that I may have natural killer cells which are fighting the embryos when they are put back. This is treated with steroids but this treatment is not done at the C&W but at the Lister......

Sorry it is a missive.

Wellies go for it I tested at least five times during last IVF cycle.

ChocolateEclair · 20/06/2008 07:26

morning all. One more day at work then a weekend to chill out, thank god. Feeling super tired today and a bit tearful .

Soosy - your story really is unbelievable. You must treasure your ds so much. (I know all parents must, but wow). I understand now about the donor sperm, and totally undertand about wanting ds to have a full sibling. It sounds like the Lister hospital might be the way to go to me. Will it be a lot more expensive? Hope you are successful next attempt. Keep your chin up .

wellies/HC - if you test - I want to know ok? We could do with some happy vibes

Loving the new thread, thank you! Feels fresh and airy.

Have a great w/e lovely girls. xx

HumphreysCorner · 20/06/2008 10:50

Bailey-you need one of these. There are lots on Ebay so take a look.

soosy-I can totally understand you wanting to give DS a full sibling. Agree that with the new donor idenity rules it can be very difficult to use a donor. Hope you can sort an appointment before your hols.

ChocEclair-last day then a couple off. You are doing really well. Go and order those OV sticks and start planning. I seem to remember that the tearfulness eased only when I got the next BFP. 'Tis indeed a difficult time but we are here to lend our shoulders.

Waves to everyone else. Am on knicker checking duty now as last month I got spotting 4 days before AF started properly so that would mean on Sunday. Dreampt last night that I was collecting my wee in a pair of navy blue silk knickers so of course the wee went straight through them. Mangaged to get enough then the stick fell apart but there was a line. Initially when you wake up you wonder if it was a dream or reality then you soon realise it was just a dream.

DD1 is doing a sponsored walk of 25 laps round the playing field in aid of Shades day for the Guide Dogs this afternoon. We have collected sponsor money then a note came home from school asking for a donation and to come and support your child and buy refreshments. I don't mind giving the sponsor money or even the £1 donation but I draw the line at paying for refreshments. We only found out last night that parents could watch from 1-30pm to 3-15pm. Am in 2 minds whether to go or not as DD1 will only whine and winge for food and drink and I know not every parent is going. What to do???? They are always having open afternoons to raise money for the school and I do attend them if I can. Would it be mean of me if I didn't go? Have promised to take her on the swings after school as there is no daning tonight.

Waffle over.

Ooh HC you have reminded me of my dream last night - was having my 20 week scan and it was really obvious (iykwim ) that it was a boy and then I was telling my mum, other family, friends etc. It was so vivid as if it was actually happening (with none of those strange things that happen in dreams). Do you think this is a sign? This is the second dream I have had that it is a boy! Or do you think it is my subconcious playing tricks as, if we could choose, we would choose a boy?

CE - hope today is ok aswell and then you can hide away/shop/eat/drink or whatever you need to do for the weekend

Morning to everyone else

HumphreysCorner · 20/06/2008 11:34

ceebee-just done the string test on you and it is a boy.

majormoo · 20/06/2008 12:51

hi all. great that we have a new thread

welcome to all those that have just joined the thread.

Soosy I really hope the Lister works out for you

CE, hope you get a relaxing weekend. Sometimes you need a good cry anyway.

HC definitely still too early. Am sure she will be OK if you take her to the park, but personally I would end up going I reckon.

All fine here-still fed up that most people I tell I am pregnant are still saying 'was it planned?' None of their business!

majormoo · 20/06/2008 12:51

Ceebee when is your scan by the way? Yours and Juanitad's must be soon.

ceebee74 · 20/06/2008 14:35

Majormoo - my scan is 3 weeks today (and counting) - it seems forever away. Juanitad's will be before mine as she is due a couple of weeks before. What about you?

As for people's comments, all I got from EVERYONE when I announced it was 'what again, already, gosh you aren't wasting any time are you?' - DS is nearly 2 fgs, it is hardly rushing things is it???

HumphreysCorner · 20/06/2008 17:28

I gave in and went to the school at 2pm and she only had 4 laps to do then went off and played. Luckily 2 of the mums I talk to turned up (they said they weren't going either) so was OK. Then DD1 decided to stay to swimming club so went home at 3pm and one of the mum's brought her home at 4-30pm so not too bad an afternoon at all.

ceebee and juanitad-counting down until your scans.

majormoo · 20/06/2008 18:35

glad the afternoon went well

my scan is either 21st July if I go back to Kings or 25th if I have it in Brighton. Have to decide whether we want the convenience of Brighton or the expertise of Kings. Just that takes a whole day to get up to Kings and back plus we have to pay the train fare.

Just got back from a friend's house. Whenever we get home I am always so jealous as her house is utterly gorgeous (on the market for £800k at the moment!) and ours is so small and cluttered. oh well-we do not work half as hard as her and her husband.

ChocolateEclair · 20/06/2008 19:44

well well, some intersting dreams all round then!?!? (HC - bit odd eh?)

very exciting all those waiting for their next scans! Are majormoo or juanitad planning on finding out the sex????

HC - your afternoon sounds nice after all. Your dd survived the tea at her friends then? And so did you

Quite at the friend whose house is on for £800K!!!!! That would buy you my whole town I think!

Today has been a bit of a weepy one for some reason. Planning a lovely shopping day tomorrow - a bit of good old retail therapy! I will be very glad when monday is over with and we can move on. Have started taking my temp again already just so i feel like I am doing something!

Have a fab weekend everyone xx

OP posts:
soosy · 20/06/2008 20:20

Oh CE your hormones are all over the shop, so its not surprising you are weeping. I find a good dose of retail therapy does help me so have a good day tomorrow. good luck with the temping.

HC yes it is too early, how too early?

I love scans - yes like CE I want to know everything! Ceebee, are you going to be finding out. Apparently they can tell at 11 weeks now!

Majormoo, I would be tempted with Kings just because you know earlier and you would be getting the best. Just sorry it costs money.

Love to everyone else hope you all have a good weekend. Haven't called Lister yet, busy day with DS and my Godmother turned for tea and chat, which was lovely, but meant I didn't get all those things done I wanted to! house hunting tomorrow and Church Fair which is really fun. Off to eat pizza.

Morning all

Welcome back MJIM-pleased you had a great time.

Haven't tested this morning as my temp has dropped on CD12 so just waiting for the evil one to arrive. Temps are meant to stay raised so that counts me out! Doh!

Must get on and sort the girls.
