Hi guys! Opening a thread for those ttc in the new year! I'll be starting again after an MMC in November, fingers crossed that this'll be a lucky year for all!

Cycle 2 #2 after a MMC in September.
Currently 5dpo so will be testing around 6th Jan.

@Matildahoneysorry to hear of your MMC. Good luck for this cycle. Keep us updated

HelloDarknessmyoldfrenemy · 27/12/2025 11:35

@Matildahoney Sorry to hear about your MMC, that must have been so hard.

I’m also 5dpo, i think, so will be testing about the same time 😊 though not sure I’m going to manage to wait until AF is due!

Booksandclocks · 27/12/2025 11:35

For everyone whose TWW falls over NYE, will you be having a couple of drinks? It's the very beginning of the TWW for me so I'll probably hazard a couple a couple of drinks (though I don't usually drink in the TWW but appreciate everyone has a different view!)

Anya23 · 27/12/2025 11:39

For me it won't start yet, but tbh I would (and will) down a couple of drinks! With my daughter I tested around 8/9 dpo and since it was negative I was drinking a bit the next two nights - what was suspicious is me feeling dizzy on the second day so I knew something was up, and the next day I did test positive! With this ttc I haven't been drinking too much, because I want to be able to get up for my dd if she wakes during the night, lol, but if I do, it's until 6dpo,not later 😊

My tww won’t be until mid Jan but as someone who avoided drinking at all for most of ttc #2, I say go for it and enjoy yourself. Whether I drank or not in the tww has made zero difference to the outcome of my last 3 pregnancies. Drank regularly (not heavily mind!) before finding out with my son in 2022 and he was born perfect. I had 1 glass of Prosecco in the tww leading up to one of my losses this year and didn’t drink at all in the month and months before the other 🤷🏻‍♀️

BellaStar2020 · 27/12/2025 08:46

@choclover23thank you! Good luck to you too! How long are your cycles usually? Since I had my first, mine have changed completely

Usually bang on 28 days. I had a faint line with baby number 1 at 9dpo late in the day strong by about 10dpo pm! So a day or two to match that!!
feeling so drained today but that’s after Xmas come down but doesn’t help because that’s what made me test early .. I was exhausted!!

Booksandclocks · 27/12/2025 12:05

Thank you both - I'm not very experienced at TTC (we got pregnant in the first cycle last time, ended in MMC, and I'm in my first cycle post MMC now). I'm very conscious this might take a while to happen again and I'm really trying to avoid living my whole life thinking "what if I'm pregnant" and missing out on the rest of my life if that makes sense?

Anya23 · 27/12/2025 12:10

It sure does @Booksandclocks
With my MMC I was so stressed out to become pregnant, and then stressed out when I got pregnant because my lines were not darkening fast enough - I just want to be more relaxed this time
With dd I was only taking one prenatal vitamin, and wasn't really stressed, this time I think I'm doing too much, so I'll just try to let go as well, which will obviously be hard after the MMC.. But I found out that so many friends had one MC before going on to having really healthy pregnancies so I'll try to keep up the hope as well

I won’t go crazy on NYE but I’m sure a small glass wouldn’t change anything. But definitely a very personal decision

Washingmachine22 · 27/12/2025 14:11

I've been having a glass or two every now and again given the week that's in it, I'm not a big drinker normally, and next cycle I'm going to start eating more healthy as I could do with losing a few pounds and cut out alcohol for the new year but it's a very personal choice

tiutinkerbell · 27/12/2025 14:41

I'll be starting after a 12 week MMC in October, D&C in November so this will be my first cycle post loss. Feeling a little doubt that it will happen but also know it's important to stay positive. Just waiting to ovulate now.

@choclover23i tested faint positive with my first at 9DPO and then strong positive at 10DPO too.

I used NC last time and using it again this time. It’s saying I will O on NYE so 🤞for then. I am also on Flo however and that says I will ovulate tomorrow so no idea 😂.

I’ve toed using ovulation tests but I have never had a positive on one!

So similar. When are you planning to test or just waiting it out?? I can feel myself getting soooo inpatient already.

I have used the strips before but don’t track too much to be honest!!

I will see how I feel. Last time I felt different which is what made me test. Did you feel anything different to usual? I know if I think about it too much I will get v v impatient

choclover23 · 27/12/2025 17:20

Same. I remember that Tuesday so well. I felt so bad it made me test early!!
I feel rubbish today but I’m sure it’s Christmas come down and nothing else (trying to convince myself and not symptom spot). I won’t make it many more days lol

hopeful4us · 27/12/2025 18:55

AF arrived for me so it's CD1. Mixture of the usual ttc disappointment and relief as now I have a benchmark to work off and hopefully my body is returning to its usual rhythm. Manifesting magic in 2026

Me too! I didn’t believe it either when I got the positive, did about 100 tests before I showed my husband 😂

HelloDarknessmyoldfrenemy · 27/12/2025 20:05

@hopeful4us Sorry that AF has arrived. Hope this new cycle is the one! Sending you all the baby dust.

AlbaGracie · 27/12/2025 20:22

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me joining. I'm TTC#2 and it's my first cycle. 9DPO and hoping to hold out untill 12DPO . Although I'd like another, I'm exhausted with my 2 year old and part of me dreads being pregnant again and doing the first year all over again with a toddler again. Anybody else in the same boat?

Matildahoney · 27/12/2025 20:52

Thank you @BellaStar2020 @hopeful4us it was my second, but my first was veggie before DS.
I suspect it was because they were girls, SIL has had one too and there hasn't been a girl in our DHs family since 1883!

Hello! Totally understand the dread of the first year again! For me, it’s specifically weaning- I hate starting food at 6 months, both of mine haven’t eaten a proper amount of food until 12/13 months. Before that they just throw it all on the floor. I’m sure they are learning something but the mess and the waste do get to me.

Also, that difficult period from around 6/7 months until they learn how to walk. Mine seem to hate being immobile and get so cross and frustrated with life.

I’m just trying to remember all the bits i do love! Newborn sleepy cuddles, the cute jerky movements when they are small and the gummy smiles. And then all of 12-30 months I adore. The learning to talk/ understanding what’s going on and communicating back is adorable. The good bit about baby two is that you have baby one to distract you and so it all passes so fast. At least, that’s how I experienced it.

And don’t get me started on pregnancy 😂 especially the third trimester and birth!

Yes please! Keep us updated. I have been using OPK’s and haven’t had a positive yet so waiting to see when I actually do ovulate but have some cramps today and sore boobs which I usually get around ovulation so 🤞 it’s soon. My app is saying to test on the 15th Jan so a little while for me yet!

DD currently struggling with sleep after cough/cold & ear infection. I've had a few middle of the night moments where I've thought 'are we mad doing this again right now' so loving your list of the good bits! Those few months once they've learnt to sit and you can plonk them anywhere were some of my faves
