TTC for first baby thread !

Hello - I thought I’d start a TTC thread specifically for those of us who are trying for our first babies. I’ve joined other threads before but find it difficult connecting to others who may already have babies as I think ttc for your first is a whole other ball game as no other children and first time.

Any others? 🩷

I’m back again. Had what was supposed to be a 9+3 scan this morning but looked like it stopped developing 2 weeks ago and no heart beat. 💔. I expect we’re going to try again as soon as the miscarriage has happened and my cycle comes back

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Sending you lots of love.

SunshineRose12 · 04/02/2026 22:01

@cobalt123 I’m so sorry to hear your news. Sending you hugs. Try and be kind to yourself over the next few weeks.

cobalt123 · 05/02/2026 08:21

Thanks for your kind messages. What a rollercoaster this whole process is.

Just checking in. How’s everyone doing?

Just had my fertile week, but think I got the dates a bit out so not feeling hopefully. Kinda just wishing the next few weeks away so that we can try again 🤦‍♀️😂

rrrrrreatt · 13/02/2026 14:53

@cobalt123 I’m so sorry to hear about your loss, I hope you’re doing as ok as you can when something this terrible happens.

@OliveParrot this fertility check doesn’t test progesterone but the blood test I had with Hertility a few years back did a full hormonal screen. I had my AMH blood test and ultrasound today. We have to wait for our consultant appointment to confirm it but my ultrasound picked up multiple strong indicators of endometriosis. My periods aren’t particularly heavy or painful so I hadn’t even considered this possibility.

The sonographer thinks I’ll need a HyCosy test next to check my fallopian tubes aren’t affected if the consultant agrees it’s endometriosis.

SunshineRose12 · 16/02/2026 19:23

After getting my dates a bit out using my Apple Watch I’ve decided to use the Clear Blue ovulation tests this month.

Has anyone used these before? They come with instructions telling you when to start testing based on your cycle length, but my cycle has been anything between 24 days and 40. So I have no idea when to start. I also wondered, do you have to do them each consecutive day? Given my cycle is so unpredictable I was thinking maybe I do them every other day until I get a flashing smiley, and then once I get that, start doing them daily?

GladDenimGoose · 08/04/2026 10:10

How is everyone getting on? I decided to take a break from Mumsnet for a bit as I was getting in my head about TTC. I think I might have some good news for now - got a vvfl on a couple of tests this morning on cycle 9! Trying to keep a level head as I know it's early days!

SunshineRose12 · 09/04/2026 16:01

I’m in exactly the same boat. We agreed not to try this month, we needed a bit of a break, plus conceiving this month meant (potentially) a Christmas baby.

I felt really out of kilter this morning so took and test and unbelievably there is a very faint line. Typical that on the month we don’t try, it’s the month we conceive 😂

I’m worried the line is quite faint for 9 days post ovulation so trying not to get my hopes up yet.

Congratulations @GladDenimGoose and @SunshineRose12, that’s lovely news to read!

We’re still plugging away; the consultant confirmed I had lots of signs of endometriosis so I had a hycosy scan last week. Both my fallopian tubes are blockage free which is a relief! I’m feeling a bit more positive and have started taking acupuncture so hopefully it pays off.

GladDenimGoose · 09/04/2026 21:09

@rrrrrreatt that's good there were no blockages found and good to hear you're keeping positive

@SunshineRose12 honestly exactly the same as us - we had decided to take a break and only dtd once without tracking! Typical 😂 hopefully it sticks for both of us!

GladDenimGoose · 09/04/2026 21:13

Here's my test from this morning. AF would be due tomorrow

Yes, I definitely see your line. I really hope they stick for both of us ❤️

I was a little disappointed that the line on the test wasn’t stronger this morning, but I’m trying to stay calm!

I just wanted to say to the other ladies on this journey; don’t give up hope! This was cycle 7 for us, and the first time we’ve ever had a positive test result. It might not stick this time around, but this is the furthest we’ve ever got. As someone who used to feel jealous of these sorts of posts and thought it would never be me, I almost fell over when I saw that faint line on the test - so have hope ❤️

Glad you’re making progress - and you sound positive, which is good to hear. Will keep fingers crossed for you.

Hope I'm okay to jump on here although its a bit down the line.

I've been trying to conceive for 2 years with my partner, was diagnosed with PCOS and added to infertility waiting list (7 month wait). Got my first ever positive test beginning of November but unfortunately lost our much wanted baby boy at 17+3. Have had one period since miscarriage and AF due next sat but definitely having some odd cramping as though it might arrive sooner.

Trying to be positive and I know my body is likely settling down after my miscarriage but it's so hard not to overthink things.

I'm not tracking ovulation currently as I think it would consume me.

Best of luck to everyone 💖

Yes of course - you are most welcome here.

So sorry to hear about you loss that must have been heart breaking 💔.

Maybe no bad thing not to be tracking things, @GladDenimGoose and I are a testament to what happens when you relax and go with the flow 😂

I’m not sure this pregnancy is going to stick though, my tests are still really faint, so I’m really afraid I’m going to lose it. We told my parents this weekend (as we decided we’d want their support if I did miscarry) and they were crying with happiness, so I know we’re all going to be devastated if I lose this pregnancy.

GladDenimGoose · 12/04/2026 07:45

@SunshineRose12 I feel quite anxious about it sticking as well because my tests still seem faint. Ive been googling loads which I think has actually been really unhelpful. I keep telling myself it's still early - AF was due on Friday so I'm only a couple of days late. All we can do is wait and see. It's agonising though - I really do hope it sticks for both of us

Elephantscantjump · 12/04/2026 10:01

@SunshineRose12 thank you, it's the absolute worst thing.

Best of luck to you! No wrong move telling people in my thoughts, my 2 friends knew as soon as I found out first time.

The waiting is agonising all round and google is the most unhelpful, helpful tool around 😂 .

Elephantscantjump · 13/04/2026 12:12

Well in a first time ever, which is just a massive kick in the teeth my period arrived this morning - 6 days early! A 27 day cycle. If you don't laugh you'll cry.
