TTC for first baby thread !

Hello - I thought I’d start a TTC thread specifically for those of us who are trying for our first babies. I’ve joined other threads before but find it difficult connecting to others who may already have babies as I think ttc for your first is a whole other ball game as no other children and first time.

Any others? 🩷

Hello!

Nice to know we’re in the same boat! Don’t know about you, but I’m frantically symptom spotting about if every ‘twinge’ is pregnancy or period 🙈

Haha yes I’m exactly the same! Trying my hardest to be sensible, currently not going so well…

@CathyWuthering wishing you all the luck, must be so difficult. I’ve wanted a baby for years but never been in the right place, having to watch others around you is so difficult because I’ve been so happy for them but sad for myself.

SquadOfSquid · 18/12/2025 09:16

Long time lurker, first time poster joining in here. We decided to try this cycle; tested today 3 or 4 days early, because my boobs have been SO sensitive which I normally don't get with PMS, and nada.
It's our first cycle so god knows why I'm so disappointed (and also recognise that until AF arrives, it's possible still) but here we find ourselves.

CathyWuthering · 18/12/2025 09:25

@ELTWithACupOfTea just trying my best to familiarise myself with everyone’s story/dates etc. so apologies for any mistakes!
Totally know what you mean - whilst you are happy for others, it feels so unfair when things aren’t as straightforward. I started to feel like the only “one”, hence joining here!
🤞🏻🤞🏻 for you & your journey this Xmas.

Welcome! I’m new to the group too.
Do you know how many DPO you are? Or when you’re expecting AF?
May just be too early to get a positive…
It’s hard not to symptom spot/be hypersensitive to any changes. Have been TTC for a looong time so have had my fair share of this & had some really weird symptoms where I was convinced I was pregnant.
But ultimately it’s not over till you get AF so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

11DPO, and due in 3 or 4 days (probably...cycles aren't exact lengths normally) so we shall see! It becomes quite all-encompassing, this! 😬

Not long to go now then! 🤞🏻 for you!
I always try and hold off testing until at least period due date but that’s SO hard.

cobalt123 · 18/12/2025 09:57

So I’ll be 10dpo on Christmas Day. Cycle 4. It’s going to be really hard not to spend the whole Christmas period in limbo. 🙄. I guess fingers crossed for an early positive on Christmas morning but for sure we will not be that lucky.

ELTWithACupOfTea · 18/12/2025 12:31

Fingers crossed for everyone! I’m 7DPO and had a temp dip, made the mistake of googling it. Decided I’m on a Google ban now 😅

Really hope everyone gets the outcome they want, it’s a crazy journey

Buttons97 · 18/12/2025 18:04

SunshineRose12 · 18/12/2025 08:34

Ohhh that’s tough based on your dates. I think even if you test before Christmas, you might get negative, even if pregnant, just because it could be too early?

Perhaps just have the glass of fizz? I think (assuming you are pregnant, but too early to test), then at that stage in the pregnancy the baby isn’t attached to your blood
supply, so the alcohol won’t affect them. Although definitely check this - this was just from my googling (and was based on my dates)!

I’ll only be 11dpo on Christmas day so it could definitely still could be too early. That’s a good point about it being too early to be connected to the blood supply! It’s a tradition in my family to have a glass on Christmas morning so I would be sad to miss out this year.

Evening ladies,

Currently trying not to lose my mind in the 2 week wait!

AF is due Christmas Day, so I’m thinking I’ll maybe test on the 23rd or 24th. This is 4th cycle of trying and I’m not feeling very positive, so feeling like I don’t want to be disappointed on Christmas morning, so at least if I test and get a negative I’ll know to be ready for AF, if that makes sense. But then I think maybe I should just wait and see if my period turns up, and remind myself that I need to try and calm down about the whole getting pregnant process 🙈.

What would everyone else do, test a couple of days early or not?

Hey @SunshineRose12 I am in the same boat (cycle 4!) but AF due 27/28. I’m going to test on Christmas Eve I think - not massively hopeful this cycle so I think it’ll be good to (probably) draw a line under it, enjoy a festive drink or two and gear up to go again in 2026. Love to all in the 2WW, it’s shit anyway and especially shit this time of year?

Beammeupthisplacesucks · 18/12/2025 21:39

Hi another lurker here, this is my first MN post. Had the Mirena coil out in August and being trying since then with nothing so far. AF arrived last night so I’m out for December. I’m 36 so already in a panic that I’ve left it too late for baby number 1 ugh. Wishing you all the best and sending positive vibes.

SleepySkyRat · 20/12/2025 13:45

So I finally got a positive LH test on CD22! So glad it actually happened, and now it’s waiting game. I really wanted to wait until I’m ‘late’ however not sure if my luteal phase will be the same length as normal (11 days) in which case I’d be due to come on the day/day after I’m at a wedding. Half tempted to test on the morning of just so I know if can drink, and also save myself a taxi fare if I can’t lol. I also don’t think I’d be ok if I suddenly came on at the wedding thinking there was a chance…. But I don’t want to have people guessing that I might be if I’m not drinking. Have any of you guys had a similar situation? When did you test?

SunshineRose12 · 24/12/2025 13:27

Tested this morning to a BFN ☹️. Have started on the sherry to console myself!

I know there are a few of us running to very similar dates, so will keep my fingers crossed for you all.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!

GladDenimGoose · 24/12/2025 14:47

I've just started the tww. Anyone else? I'm hoping Christmas etc will keep me distracted this time!

ELTWithACupOfTea · 24/12/2025 18:12

Tested this morning, FRER at 13DPO and it was negative. Feel surprisingly okay but it’s the first cycle so my expectations were pretty low anyway! Fingers crossed for everyone else.

RaspKitty · 26/12/2025 07:23

Happy Boxing Day! Currently 9 DPO on cycle 4. Still have everything crossed that I could be lucky this month, but have no symptoms at all - except my husband thinks my breasts look bigger (not sure that’s even a pregnancy sign). It would be an amazing start to the New Year

ELTWithACupOfTea · 26/12/2025 15:06

@RaspKitty fingers crossed! 🤞🏻 it would be an amazing start to the new year!

cobalt123 · 26/12/2025 15:15

Hey guys. I actually got a bfp on Christmas Day 10dpo! Can’t believe it! Still very early days of course so I’m trying not to get too ahead of myself. Hope we get some more on this thread soon!

Buttons97 · 26/12/2025 16:07

@cobalt123 Congratulations! How are you feeling?

I also got a BFP on Christmas morning 11dpo 🥹 I tested again this morning on a different brand and also positive, I’m in shock! Feeling cautiously optimistic.

cobalt123 · 26/12/2025 18:20

@Buttons97congratulations to you as well! What a Christmas present. I’ve been feeling a little bit crampy and a bit tired but barely feel different to be honest. How about you?

Buttons97 · 26/12/2025 19:47

@cobalt123 I’m feeling a bit crampy and bloated and I’ve been quite tired, but i’ve also been ill with a cold over the last week so I had thought it was because of that! I really wasn’t expecting anything to come up when I tested.

GladDenimGoose · 29/12/2025 10:47

How is everyone doing? I'm about 8/9 dpo and feeling like I've been hit by a bus. Yesterday I was in bed with fever like symptoms - chills, sweats and body aches but no temperature. Had no appetite and barely ate anything and then this morning I've had diarrhea (sorry tmi). Nobody else in the house is ill. Obviously I could just be ill but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this sort of thing?

Utardelis · 29/12/2025 11:34

@GladDenimGoose when I got my first positive about two days before which must have been 7/8dpo I spent the day in bed - similar feeling of being hit by a bus - no chills or sweats just absolute exhaustion and I was thirsty no matter how much I drank!

🤞 this isn’t illness and a good sign for you! X

SleepySkyRat · 29/12/2025 14:06

10DPO and gave in and tested as was running hot and a spike in my BBT - I can see a line?!? Took an LH test too and that was fairly dark for only a couple of days before AF. Trying to guard my heart after my chemical but do you see what I see?!

TTC for first baby thread !
GladDenimGoose · 29/12/2025 15:00

@SleepySkyRat I can see a line there! I don't know if it's a bit grey rather than pink but I've never seen a positive in real life so I wouldn't really know. 🤞 For you
