TTC for first baby thread !

Hello - I thought I’d start a TTC thread specifically for those of us who are trying for our first babies. I’ve joined other threads before but find it difficult connecting to others who may already have babies as I think ttc for your first is a whole other ball game as no other children and first time.

Any others? 🩷

@Andrasa yeh I guess that’s probably right that if you have real symptoms you should also get a positive test. I can’t bring myself to test early though in case of the double disappointment of having an early negative but then still holding out hopes for them only to be dashed again several days later. Gargh. New to this and I’m starting to realise just how much it can take over your life thinking of little else! 🥴

It really does take over your life!

Gargh I caved this morning and tested at 10dpo on the CB ultra early. Negative. Was feeling pretty convinced as I had so much cramping through the weekend and my boobs feel bigger than normal. Bit deflated. But of course now holding out hope that it was just too early. AF is due on Friday

Ah bless you. This was me last week and then AF came. I’ve agreed with my DH now to only test when AF is a few days to a week late! Keep going x

Also 10 dpo and tested this morning - had a rubbish weekend so just wanted to know either way really! Of course was negative!
I did have a bit of cramping yesterday so wonder if implantation occurred later? But not getting my hopes up and probably won’t test again now unless AF doesn’t show up.
Think if not pregnant this time might just take a break next month as feeling drained with it all

cobalt123 · 27/10/2025 13:18

@PeonyPatchthat seems very wise. I guess the end result will be the same whether you put yourself through the wringer of testing early or not.

@Brunch123nice to know we’re on the same day! When’s AF due? I had so much cramping on Saturday through to Sunday morning and maybe the odd mild cramp today so I still haven’t given up hope. Very stupidly I fished the test out of the bin a bit later and there’s an evap line there. 🙄

Hello, please can I join? I'm just starting my third cycle and can't help but feel more anxious now. I haven't tracked ovulation but we dtd loads the last two months so I'd be surprised if we missed the timing. We're early 30s and it seems like everyone around us is pregnant or a new parent and I'm worried about being left behind.

Yes, welcome! I am mid 30s and I feel very similarly to you - you’re still very young and have plenty of time and appear to be at the start of your journey :) nice to meet you!

@cobalt123 somewhere between Thursday and Saturday!
Are you planning to test again before Friday or just wait and see? Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

cobalt123 · 27/10/2025 14:55

@Brunch123currently Im hoping I’ll hold out until Saturday morning. But being realistic I’m sure I’ll cave again before that. I feel like Wednesday an Friday mornings would not be unreasonable 🤣

GladDenimGoose · 27/10/2025 16:33

Thank you for the kind welcome @PeonyPatch

most welcome!
I find it hard seeing others falling pregnant or having babies. A couple of people I know from uni are pregnant or just given birth and I find it so triggering. I really hope it happens for us both. There’s such a grief that comes with wanting children and it not happening yet

Hi ladies, new here and hoping you can let me in the group :)

26 and just ventured into the ttc journey. Came off my pill after almost 9 years last month, and now just waiting to see what happens really, trying not to put lots of pressure on it with it being our first time trying. Funny you spend so much time trying not to get pregnant, then onto worrying if you actually can get pregnant!

Started on the folic acid and supplements a few months ago to give us the best chance. Hoping my cycles go back to normal soon, i’ve been having quite a bit of spotting since my period, which i guess is just my body readjusting, just enough to be annoying.

sending lots of hope :)

cobalt123 · 29/10/2025 07:55

How’s everyone getting on?

12dpo for me. Had a lot of cramping on 8&9 dpo and since then quite achy boobs from time to time. Still holding off testing since a negative at 10dpo. If there’s anything that these chats had shown me though it’s that any symptoms probably mean nothing at all and it might just be that I didn’t notice before.

@Brunch123how are you getting on? Think we’re around the same day.

Brunch123 · 29/10/2025 09:46

Well even though I said I wouldn’t I did go and pick up another pregnancy test in my dinner break yesterday - took it today and not pregnant so think I’m fairly confident that I’m not and AF will be starting Friday or Saturday.
I do think I’m gonna take a month off though to refresh and enjoy the Xmas period without the pressure, would be lovely to get a BFP on Christmas Day!
Keeping my fingers crossed that someone else in this thread gets a BFP this month!!

bless you - sometimes taking a break is needed
how lovely it would be to get that as a Christmas present. I am wishing you all the best for your break lovely 💖

AF has now finished, and my partner has his semen analysis tomorrow so we’ll be back to trying over the weekend I think. I managed to bring a GP appt forward to 10th Nov, so I’m hoping they can finally make our referral for fertility support.

@PeonyPatch thank you! when did you decide to pursue fertility support?

I think I was naive when I started this ttc process thinking it would be so easy and quick!

Hope everything comes back positive with your husband!

Thank you 🩷

We decided 6 months in. Though I was diagnosed with PCOS in July so about 3 months into trying. Given my age and this diagnosis, plus no other children, that was my reason for pursuing fertility support.

@Brunch123 i I think it would be lovely to have the month off for sure, especially with all the festivities etc!

@cobalt123 still keeping fingers crossed for you!

@PeonyPatch fingers crossed for your partners SA test 🤞

I’ve just chased my gp and our fertility referral should finally be getting sent off early next week all being well! 🤞 not expecting to hear anything until the new year though regarding an appointment x

Did they give you a rough estimate as to how long the referral would take ? (Until first fertility appt) xx

Em3009 · 30/10/2025 12:59

@PeonyPatch not yet but I’m going to ask this when the gp is in touch next week :) the clinic we will be referred to shows that we should hear within 14 working days once they’ve received the referral and an appointment within 6-8 weeks but I don’t want to get my hopes up 😅

@cobalt123 I see something 👀 is this one of the early tests? X

cobalt123 · 30/10/2025 21:53

Yeh it’s one of those clear blue six days early… would maybe expect a clearer line at this point? I’ll test again in the morning and see what happens 😬

Em3009 · 31/10/2025 07:12

@cobalt123 is there any chance you ovulated later maybe? Defiantly test again x
