TTC for first baby thread !

Hello - I thought I’d start a TTC thread specifically for those of us who are trying for our first babies. I’ve joined other threads before but find it difficult connecting to others who may already have babies as I think ttc for your first is a whole other ball game as no other children and first time.

Any others? 🩷

@SleepySkyRatthat definitely looks like the start of a positive to me! Got my fingers crossed for you!

SleepySkyRat · 29/12/2025 20:39

@GladDenimGoose @cobalt123 thank you!! I took another test this evening as started to think maybe it was an evap line but got the same again and then did an early response boots… still in shock! (Photo is about a hour after I dipped it so think it’s looking a bit darker than it did 3 mins after dipping). Not due AF for at least 2 days so will take a digital test then to confirm but I think finally it’s happened! Hubby’s trying not to get himself excited as we’re still so early and had the chemical before but this is already significantly darker than what we had then!

how is everyone getting on?
8dpo today and trying to hold off testing this month but can see myself crumbling around 10 🤣

GladDenimGoose · 03/01/2026 08:54

AF is due tomorrow and I have a feeling she'll show. We'll see...

Utardelis · 03/01/2026 09:11

Good luck 🤞
I had symptoms from 6dpo with my MMC and nothing at all yet so have a feeling I am out again this month

GladDenimGoose · 03/01/2026 19:42

AF came for me a day early at lunch time today. So that's me going into cycle 6 now. Finding it hard to not freak out a little - my cycles are usually 23-24 days which I know is on the shorter side so I don't know if I should be worried.

ELTWithACupOfTea · 05/01/2026 13:40

I just did my LH test, CD11 and it was positive so getting ready to be back in the TWW… I know it’s only cycle 2 but I can’t help getting hopeful.

Hope you’re all doing okay, fingers crossed for everyone 🩷

oogumboogum · 05/01/2026 16:51

Hello! Currently CD9 of cycle 5 of trying - think I will probably ovulate a week today (my usual cycle is 31 days), will be tracking more carefully than before and hoping that this cycle is the one! Anyone else on a similar timeline? I feel like I’m two weeks out from everyone on the threads I’ve been lurking on. Sending everyone all the best for this cycle!

Utardelis · 06/01/2026 06:16

Positive on a digital test this morning at 11dpo 🙏
started with a vfl on 9dpo and is showing progression so far but it’s still so early and taking things day by day with my first positive since my missed miscarriage, unfortunately I know how quickly it can all change

absolutely minimal symptoms compared to my last pregnancy, apart from cramps extremely similar to AF coming on 8/9dpo which is helpful with the anxiety 😂

🍀 to everyone xxx

Can’t believe I’m even writing it but finally have my faint positives!!! TTC since October (albeit missing two key days that month).

I only took tests this morning as we are going on holiday on Friday and I wanted to take the power back and not be upset when AF arrived during the trip.

AF due tomorrow/Friday so hopefully the faintness is ok.

Amazing news! I just got my first positive since starting TTC. So pleased for you

SunshineRose12 · 09/01/2026 22:25

So nice to see some good news with a few BFPs, looking like January is proving to be a lucky month!

I think my fertile window starts on Sunday. Been discussing our schedule to DTD with my husband 😂. Sad that it’s come down to scheduling our sex life, but it’s nice he’s also keen to give us the best chance this month.

Since coming off the pill c.6 months ago my period has only lasted 24-48 hours, which as the months of not conceiving go by, I’m starting to worry is a problem.

Mine’s been shorter than it was prior since I came off the pill last Feb; googling (I know…) suggests this can happen anyhow with age etc but it worries me too. You’re not alone with that one!

GladDenimGoose · 14/01/2026 11:05

How is everyone getting on? I decided to try LH testing this month for the first time. I'm CD 12 and yet to have a positive which has surprised me as I thought I usually ovulate around CD 10 or 11 ( 24 day cycle).

SleepySkyRat · 14/01/2026 15:26

@GladDenimGoose im a big advocate for LH testing! First cycle I properly did it alongside BTT and I got pregnant! Honestly think without it I’d have guessed I’d ovulated a week earlier. I ovulated CD22 on a 31 day cycle so only 11 days luteal phase (cycle before I’d ovulated CD16!). Maybe you ovulate later than you think? My peak was also super short and quick so was measuring twice daily for the suspected days. Sending you all the luck you get your peak soon!

GladDenimGoose · 14/01/2026 15:52

Thank you @SleepySkyRat that's really encouraging. I started testing on CD5 and have been testing twice a day from CD10. The lines have been gradually getting darker but not quite as dark as the control yet. I'm curious to see what then next few days bring!

SunshineRose12 · 14/01/2026 19:40

Interesting to hear. I’ve been tracking my fertile window & ovulation via my Apple Watch and looking at my discharge, but I’ve been wondering if I need to up my game on this and start using the OPK tests too.

My husband usually stays in London for work during the week, but has WFH this week so that we can DTD pretty much every day during my window. Given how hard we’ve tried this month, if there is no positive test at the end of January, I’ve decided we’ll see a dr (we’ll be at the 6 cycles of actively trying).

The last couple of weeks have been full of everyone talking about Christmas being magical with their children, and I’ve been surprised by how upsetting I’ve found it. Sending everyone hugs!

SunshineRose12 · 14/01/2026 19:46

@SleepySkyRat how are you getting along? Any pregnancy symptoms yet? x

SleepySkyRat · 15/01/2026 07:45

@SunshineRose12 I’m not doing too bad thanks! I’ve got a lot of bloating and tiredness, thought I’d got away without any morning sickness but this morning proved that I’m not that lucky... find it hard not to be anxious and compare symptoms to other people but everyone’s on a different timeline and react differently to the hormones. Looking forward to my reassurance scan next week and then maybe I can relax a bit. As awful as the sickness and fatigue is I am feeling immensely grateful to have got this far, every day feels like a blessing.

SleepySkyRat · 15/01/2026 07:47

@GladDenimGoose yeah I was checking twice daily from CD14 so went through loads of tests lol. It does feel like it’s never going to hit a positive/peak even when it’s getting darker but I’m sure it’s coming soon for you!!

GladDenimGoose · 15/01/2026 10:33

So my LH test yesterday evening was 0.81 after steadily rising over the least few days. This morning was 0.04 so I'm guessing I peaked overnight, which means I'm probably (hopefully) going to ovulate today. I suppose now I just have to sit tight and hope we've done enough! For anyone wondering whether to LH test: I was really hesitant as I didn't want it to stress me out but actually I've found it to be really interesting and reassuring!

SquadOfSquid · 19/01/2026 18:53

Any good news for anyone yet? I'm hating this month's TWW...felt super calm until today when ALL of the anxiety hit!

GladDenimGoose · 19/01/2026 19:31

Turns out my 0.81 LH teston wednesday was my peak so I think I'm 4dpo now. It's not going well 😂 I've been simultaneously clobbered by a UTI and the flu so have spent the last 4 days in bed! I suppose it's kept me a bit distracted and I have no idea if it will affect my chances this cycle. When do you think you'll test @SquadOfSquid?

Oh no! Sounds rough. Honestly I'm not sure - I go abroad tomorrow for a work event so I may try (!) and wait til I get back, but we shall see!

GladDenimGoose · 19/01/2026 19:51

Do you know what dpo you are? Hopefully the work event keeps your mind off it for a bit. Please keep us updated - I have everything crossed for you
