TTC for first baby thread !

PeonyPatch · 22/10/2025 17:55

Hello - I thought I’d start a TTC thread specifically for those of us who are trying for our first babies. I’ve joined other threads before but find it difficult connecting to others who may already have babies as I think ttc for your first is a whole other ball game as no other children and first time.

Any others? 🩷

@GladDenimGoose hope youre doing okay its never nice seeing a negative xx

Keepitupjeff · 08/12/2025 23:46

Hey all, we’ve been trying since the start of the year. I don’t think 2025 is going to be the year for us.

I do wonder if we need to put more effort in as we’re mid thirties.

Good luck everyone

ErickBroch · 11/12/2025 08:08

Negative today 11DPO. Second cycle of ttc. First month we kind of missed the peak window due to travelling. This month we DTD a lot the entire week. I see people saying about every other day and now thinking we did it too much - does it reduce sperm count? Argh

GladDenimGoose · 11/12/2025 09:37

AF arrived this morning right on schedule. Been feeling a bit sad the last few days but I've got a long weekend with my husband planned this weekend so that should cheer me up!

@ErickBroch I understood the every other day recommendation to be more so that you can pace yourself - it can be hard to keep the momentum going if your journey takes a while

HopefulK · 11/12/2025 09:52

I’m 8dpo currently. Ended up on antibiotics due to wisdom tooth and DH was away from ovulation so only managed the days before, not too hopeful. I also feel like I’ve caught DH’s cold! Feel like it would be miraculous if this was the month!
@GladDenimGoose hope you enjoy your few days of nice things. Always helps

Brunch123 · 12/12/2025 13:41

AF still hasn’t arrived for me - done even more pregnancy tests and all negative. This would be my usual fertile week so I’ve been DTD every 2 days as I usually would. I’m assuming didn’t ovulate last month as I originally thought so skipped a cycle and I will be either be pregnant/AF will arrive as normal at the end of the month? Should have paid more attention in biology at school and I might understand better! If it doesn’t arrive I’ll book into the doctors to find out what’s going on.

Feel like I’ve been absolutely obsessed about having a baby this month, feeling really sad and tearful. I don’t know if it’s because it’s Christmas! Feel like everyone and their dog are making Christmas pregnancy announcements!

Hope everyone else is keeping ok!

Brunch123 · 12/12/2025 13:43

@HopefulK it only takes one time!🤞🏻
Hope you feel better soon too!

SleepySkyRat · 13/12/2025 18:43

We’re onto our 5th cycle trying, feel like we’ve got our best chance so far as previous months have been affected by stress, illness, not having the time to DTD enough and this is the second month where I’ve been LH testing. Feel like we’ve got into the swing of things, although can already feel the impending disappointment if we don’t succeed. Managing every other day for the last 4 days as LH tests seem to be rising so think my peak is impending. Anyone else who LH tests - are your luteal phases exactly the same every cycle or is there slight variations? As I seem to be running a little ahead of schedule and trying to work out the chance of potentially coming on on Christmas day (that would be the worst Christmas present ever)!

HopefulK · 13/12/2025 20:09

@SleepySkyRat i think it varies. My luteal phase is nearly always 14 days, but every now and again it will be out by 1 or 2 days either way. But it think it’s different for different people. Would be rough if af came on Christmas Day 😟

RaspKitty · 14/12/2025 12:17

Hi - also keen to join the group - been trying since October, but been off the pill since last November. Wondering when I should start worrying.

rrrrrreatt · 16/12/2025 16:23

We DTD every other day during my ovulation period and I’ve been trying my best not to think about it this month so avoided this thread

My period’s always on time due today so I did an early pregnancy test yesterday - BFN. Cried a lot then had a few cocktails last night and some pate for lunch today.

No sign of AF so far today though…

SleepySkyRat · 16/12/2025 18:44

I’m actually driving myself crazy now… CD19 and still no positive LH test. Last cycle I was getting positives on CD18 with a quick surge on CD19 and estimated ovulation CD20! Finding it really difficult to keep positivity when there’s no sign of ovulation…

SleepySkyRat · 16/12/2025 20:27

@rrrrrreatt sorry to hear about the negative, I find the waiting for AF after a negative is frustrating as you just want to get on to the next cycle. Hope AF arrives soon and you’re kind to yourself.

SunshineRose12 · 16/12/2025 21:10

Evening ladies,

Currently trying not to lose my mind in the 2 week wait!

AF is due Christmas Day, so I’m thinking I’ll maybe test on the 23rd or 24th. This is 4th cycle of trying and I’m not feeling very positive, so feeling like I don’t want to be disappointed on Christmas morning, so at least if I test and get a negative I’ll know to be ready for AF, if that makes sense. But then I think maybe I should just wait and see if my period turns up, and remind myself that I need to try and calm down about the whole getting pregnant process 🙈.

What would everyone else do, test a couple of days early or not?

ELTWithACupOfTea · 17/12/2025 14:31

@SunshineRose12 im in exactly the same position! Ovulated on the 11th, AF due Xmas Day.

This is my first cycle trying, I think I’m either going to test on the 23rd or 24th which will be 12 or 13 DPO. Gives me a day or two to get over any disappointment and I keep telling myself this is our first cycle so not to get my hopes up but it’s so hard

Utardelis · 17/12/2025 16:20

@SunshineRose12 everyones different but personally I would test a day or two before same as PP. If it is disappointing news by the time Christmas day comes it won’t be clouded

Good luck!

Thank you, AF hasn’t come today so I’m still v much playing the waiting game ☹️

It’s the most miserable point in the cycle because like you say you just want to get on to the next cycle.

Buttons97 · 17/12/2025 23:26

I’m expecting AF some time between christmas day and the 28th - also not sure when to test as don’t want to ruin Christmas, but if i’m not pregnant I would like to have a glass of fizz.

I’m not feeling that positive about this month, with illness and DP being away with work we only managed to DTD twice during the fertile window. I tried LH testing for the first time but i’m not sure I did it right as I never found a peak, it just got darker over a few days then was light again without testing positive.

CathyWuthering · 18/12/2025 08:06

Mind if I join?
Long time lurker so apologies if I’m doing anything wrong!

I made a post over in the infertility forum as I have endometriosis and me and DH have been trying (unsuccessfully) for our first baby for roughly 18 months. We have an appt. at fertility clinic in the NY.
We have decided to be our most diligent this cycle with LH tests etc. as previously I struggled to find my positive and got worried/disheartened but it feels like we’re running out of time whilst all of our friends are pregnant, have babies, or are contemplating baby number 2.
I’m coming to the end of my period today/tomorrow with my fertile period due 25th-30th.
Really hoping December-January could be our time as another Christmas without a baby has had me so down 😭

SunshineRose12 · 18/12/2025 08:19

Thanks everyone for the advice. Currently thinking I’ll maybe test on Christmas Eve - but let’s see if I cave before then!

Hello!

Nice to know we’re in the same boat! Don’t know about you, but I’m frantically symptom spotting about if every ‘twinge’ is pregnancy or period 🙈

Sorry you’ve had such a journey so far. I really thought I’d be one of those women that got pregnant in the first month; but here I am 4 months in, and already losing my mind, so I can’t imagine how it must feel at 18 months ❤️

Ohhh that’s tough based on your dates. I think even if you test before Christmas, you might get negative, even if pregnant, just because it could be too early?

Perhaps just have the glass of fizz? I think (assuming you are pregnant, but too early to test), then at that stage in the pregnancy the baby isn’t attached to your blood
supply, so the alcohol won’t affect them. Although definitely check this - this was just from my googling (and was based on my dates)!

Thank you so much ☺️

I felt the same as you…whilst I knew I had endometriosis & it can work against you…I knew friends/family members who successfully fell pregnant with the condition without any issues, so I had hope.
We were quite relaxed when we first started “trying” so time just seemed to run away with us and this year has gone by so quickly!
Whether you’ve been trying for 4 months or longer, when you decide you want a baby, it’s always difficult.
I was feeling really quite down about it all yesterday, but the fertility appt. will provide more answers at least but we are really throwing the kitchen sink at it now 😂
We are exercising, eating healthy, taking herbal teas, special diets etc. & I have seen an improvement in my endo symptoms so I’m hopeful that this cycle, with very diligent LH tests (3x a day!) & perfect timing, we may be successful…
