A few days into my two week wait now, period due around 2nd of March.

Trying not to get too excited as I'll soon be 40 and I know my chances are lower - nevertheless, I found myself downloading a pregnancy tracking app this morning and looking at all the visuals of what the baby would look like at various stages 🙃

Anyone else out there want to wait with me? Crossing fingers and toes for my November baby!!

Sorry about the chemical @Fullofconfusion

@MrBigsCat i see you are doing acupuncture. How did you choose a therapist? I am thinking of doing it if only to regulate my cycles.

Has anyone done Hertility bloods (or similiar?)

MrBigsCat · 14/03/2025 08:49

To be honest I just went with someone local and searched up the reviews. He is Chinese which I had been recommended to go for

have you tried or researched agnus castus for cycle regulation? I’m currently on 1000mg daily and it definitely helps with my pre period spotting which can sometimes be 7 days before. I’ve read it can help regulate cycles too.

@Fayra it’s been a mixed time scale for me conceiving- I already have 3 so they took
38 cycles
4 cycles
6 cycles 🤷🏼‍♀️ but all in my 20s

BabyBorn · 14/03/2025 10:00

@SaltedPotatofunny is it how it’s just started happening. I’ve been so lucky so far to have the wonderful children I already have but only one was planned out of the 3! It took us 5 months to conceive at 27 and I thought that was bad at the time! 🥴🥴 I think for me it usually just happens when I’m not thinking about it or it tends to happen at really stressful periods of my life. Last year I fell pregnant just when I was super stressed and grieving after loosing my grandad. Unfortunately it ended in an early miscarriage.

@MrBigsCatyes! Me too! I haven’t been this healthy in years so surely it has to happen for us soon! I’m also on daily Chinese herbs from the acupuncturist! I had to really stop myself from testing this morning, of course I know it will be negative at 7DPO! 😆

MrBigsCat · 14/03/2025 11:30

@BabyBorn im bfn at 11dpo so I’m assuming I’m out! Hope this is your month. How long have you been trying and do you have other children? (Sorry if you have already said!)

BabyBorn · 14/03/2025 11:57

11 DPO is still so early @MrBigsCathow long have you been trying for? I have 3 children. I’m still breastfeeding my 32 month old and I think last year was hindering my chances of conceiving because she kept picking up bugs and nursery and becoming poorly so wanted my milk a lot more. I am only feeding her once or twice in 24 hours now. So hoping my chances are much better now. I have fallen pregnant twice since May last year, just need them to stick! How about you? Do you have any children?

I’ve got 3 too! my youngest is 9 now

we have been trying for about 19/20 months now and apart from a possibly chemical in the first 3 months I’ve had nothing

sorry to hear about your losses.
I have managed to get pregnant and breastfed through 2 pregnancies so hope you catch soon.

Writerscompanion · 14/03/2025 13:16

Hi, can I join? I’m 41 and have a 19-month old, so I was 38/39 when she was conceived/born. Last time I had difficulty with ovulation tests and temping, long runs of ‘high fertility’ but missing the peak, and I ended up falling pregnant on the 6th cycle when we happened to do it a week before my Clue app said I would be ovulating (so was very surprised to get a strong positive and then a 2-3 weeks Clearblue). I found that and all the pregnancy testing quite stressful so my aim this time is just to assume my ovulation is irregular (although my periods are pretty regular) and time it as close as we can get to every other day around the 2 middle weeks of my cycle and not to test until I’ve actually missed my period, but we’ll see how long I hold out!

This time we’re on cycle 2 and my period is due tomorrow according to Clue. No signs except I’ve been weepy all week which could easily be pre-menstrual. Last time I had what I thought were period cramps at 11po, sore boobs 12dpo and a strong positive test on day 13. I’m still breastfeeding and hoping that won’t affect things. Trying to prioritise my health as best I can sleep deprived with a wakeful toddler.

BabyBorn · 14/03/2025 13:44

Sorry to hear it’s not happened for you yet @MrBigsCatso frustrating isn’t it!

I haven’t tried to conceive whilst breastfeed my first two. My eldest is 20, middle daughter is 12 and youngest will be 3 in July. It’s amazing how quickly time goes. Feels like I was holding my eldest in my arms 5 minutes ago! 😢

BabyBorn · 14/03/2025 15:13

Hi @Writerscompanioni totally understand where you are coming from. I am breastfeeding and my little girl has always co slept with us and fidgets all night. My sleep is so broken I have no idea how we actually manage to have nookie mid cycle!! 😂😂

Hipefully you will catch your postive soon! Nice to see we are in the same boat and can share our journeys. I am just worried it won’t happen for us now. I am so lucky to have the amazing 3 I already have. We have given it until May before throwing in the towel and giving up.

Writerscompanion · 14/03/2025 16:27

@BabyBornthanks! Aw that’s so bittersweet about your eldest. It certainly does fly so trying to soak everything in but also the sleep deprivation is doing a number on my memory so I’m also taking lots of photos and videos.

Yes we co-sleep and she wriggles and wakes up for boob all the time, she’s also not going to bed until very late at the minute. So yes finding a good time is very difficult but we are managing somehow.

BabyBorn · 14/03/2025 17:34

I know @WriterscompanionTo think my eldest might be a mother herself in the coming years makes it even more scary! I was a mum to her at 19!! Very scary. Obviously wasn’t a planned pregnancy but she is one of the best things that has happened to me.

our middle daughter co slept with us until she was 4 so hoping that won’t happened again with my two year old 😫😆

I worry a bit about such a close age gap if I fall pregnant again. It’s something I’ve never experienced and with the co sleeping and still breastfeeding I don’t know how it will all pan out if another baby came along 🥴

Tofu35 · 14/03/2025 23:55

Turning 40 in July with a two year old, realising if we want another one we'll need to get a wriggle on, but trying to avoid another December baby so starting TTC next month!

Retrospeaker · 15/03/2025 09:07

Thanks @MrBigsCat I had heard of it but I’m already taking ubiquinol, maca root and a prenatal - they are basically enough to be my breakfast 🤣 so I was a bit reluctant to introduce another one. I was advised the maca root by the GP, but maybe when they run out I’ll try agnus caster.

Writerscompanion · 15/03/2025 10:04

CD 31 and no sign of period yet, but no symptoms at all. We’re going out for the day so taking tampons and expecting a disappointment. I remembered to take my vitamins which is an improvement on most
of this week - it is a Vitl subscription for fertility and breastfeeding which has coenzyme Q10 among other things. I’m also taking higher strength folic acid because of my BMI.

@Tofu35it may be you don’t want a newborn in December again but me and my sister are both December babies, birthdays a week apart and we loved it as kids, made such an exciting run up to Xmas.

Fullofconfusion · 15/03/2025 17:13

Finally got a positive on my ovulation test. Currently CD23.

I think the chemical last month may have messed up my cycle slightly as my last cycle was 5 days longer. Wonder if this one will be the same. Hopefully not as it makes the TWW feel even longer

Lucindaa · 15/03/2025 23:05

I just turned 40 and about to start trying for baby no.2 😍

Lu x

Writerscompanion · 16/03/2025 21:32

Posting very cautiously as I can scarcely believe it but I’ve had a BFP today. I’m only a day late. No real symptoms to speak of yet. Taking it a day at a time.

Haha it's more that the wee guy was born on the 23rd, it's like we have two boxing days that week! The birthday one and then Christmas day 😂 although it took 3 years to get pregnant with him, so maybe I shouldn't be fussy with dates!

Tentative congratulations! I got a bfp today too, but highly confused as I thought I was 4dpo, but it seems my last period wasn't a period and I'm actually 6+4?
I only tested as had blazing OPKs for over a week. Doesn't feel real! x

Writerscompanion · 16/03/2025 23:09

@lynzmb that was similar to what happened with my first pregnancy although I didn’t have an extra bleed. What I thought were positive ovulation results were the ovulation tests picking up the pregnancy which I didn’t know they did, very confusing. congrats on your BFP and you’re not far off a private scan if you choose to have one.

MrBigsCat · 17/03/2025 07:37

@Writerscompanion ans @lynzmb congrats 🥳 proof we can defy age!!

CointreauQuaint · 17/03/2025 09:21

Congrats @Writerscompanion and @lynzmb keeping everything crossed!

Those of you (if there are any) here, where it’s your first - how do you feel about being an ‘older’ first time mum? I really struggle with the thought of it, I think it’s a me problem mainly.

Fayra · 18/03/2025 12:47

Congrats @Writerscompanion & @lynzmb! 🎉

Fullofconfusion · 18/03/2025 22:22

@lynzmb and @Writerscompaniontentative congratulations. Fingers crossed for sticky beans for you both.

I’m currently in the TWW and counting down the days to testing
