A few days into my two week wait now, period due around 2nd of March.

Trying not to get too excited as I'll soon be 40 and I know my chances are lower - nevertheless, I found myself downloading a pregnancy tracking app this morning and looking at all the visuals of what the baby would look like at various stages 🙃

Anyone else out there want to wait with me? Crossing fingers and toes for my November baby!!

Hi!

I am not in the 2WW yet but I am also TTC and about to turn 40 :)

Are you TTC for your first?

WaitingForLittleSunflower · 20/02/2025 09:44

Hi! I'm in TWW (although been slightly confused by tracking ovulation this month so not 100% how many dpo 🤦‍♀️)

We already have a daughter who is 5years old.

I'll be 40 next year 🙂

Sending you all loads of positive wishes this month xx

Hi!

Are you TTC for your first?

Yes, - although I've just had a heart-sinking moment as I looked back over my cycles for the past year.

My boyfriend lives and works abroad so I only see him every 4-5 weeks, and for the past six months the dates haven't matched up at all so I knew there was no chance of getting pregnant. In my head I was thinking that this was the first month we'd actually been able to properly try within the window (according to the apps and my Clear Blue stick).

But there were actually around three cycles since this time last year when it could've happened (though this time was definitely a more conscious effort) so now I'm feeling a bit low. Maybe my chances are tiny and I need to see a specialist...?

I really shouldn't hold my breath should I?

OP posts:
RooneyRu · 20/02/2025 10:02

I feel your pain on the dates not matching up. Both my husband and I travel for work so we often miss our window too.

I have one DS, he was conceived relatively easily and quickly at 37. This time around it feels much more like an uphill battle! I've had one miscarriage and a chemical preg in the last 12 months.

I went and had a round of fertility tests done to make sure there wasn't anything wrong, in case we needed to do something different before it was too late. I recommend doing that, if not just for peace of mind.

If it makes you feel any better we have DTD at exactly the right times for the last 6 months since the misc and it hasn't happened for us yet. I do think, it might just take longer at our age - generally. But lots and lots and lots of women get pregnant at 40 so there is no reason to lose hope!

I have ramped up my supplements and started fertility acupuncture... it's all a bit woo woo but I need to feel like I am doing SOMETHING other than just waiting for it to happen.

RooneyRu · 20/02/2025 10:08

Fingers crossed for you too @WaitingForLittleSunflower ❤️

I have just turned 40 and TTC not in the TWW only CD4. I don’t seem to have an issue getting pregnant 3 times in 9 months but I am struggling to make our babies stick. On average I seem to be getting pregnant every 3 cycles I didn’t last cycle so hoping to catch again soon. I have an appointment to see Tommys recurrent miscarriage clinic in a couple of weeks but I don’t really know what they can say. Sending lots of positive baby dust and vibes to us all xxx

Oh gosh I'm sorry to hear that. Sending love and hoping your baby comes to you soon!

Hope it works out for you. It’s hard not to get excited, like that feeling I have I’m going to be a millionaire every time I buy a lottery ticket! Your odds are better thankfully.

If it doesn’t happen for you, try not to feel downhearted. I’ve heard so many stories of babies being conceived unexpectedly by couples in their 40s. My dc2 was a blessing when I turned 43; my cousin lost a baby when she was a similar age.

If your dp is serious about having a baby… can you arrange to meet up more often?

Retrospeaker · 20/02/2025 15:57

I’m 41 and TTC our second. Had a TFMR end of last year (that baby was a massive surprise, contraception failure) so it’s all tinged with sadness. I’m 6dpo but it’s our first month and my cycles are only just settling down so not expecting much this month. Good luck everyone!

Have you been told to take baby asprin? So sorry for your losses xx

Kels21 · 20/02/2025 17:48

Hiiii, im not 40, but 37 almost, so close ha! Im
in my tww! 8dpo today! Been testing like an idiot thinking I can see a line 😂 been trying for 10 months, then got pregnant but unfortunately lost that one at 6 weeks. Found out at 8 weeks. Not fallen pregnant since. Really hoping this month is it. I feel pregnant. Lower back ache. Vivid dreams, feeling sick, and absolutely exhausted lol! Just want it to be it now 🤍 sending you lots of baby dust xx

Clara202 · 20/02/2025 17:53

38 and 7dpo, never pregnant and 6 months trying. Zero symptoms of anything! I’ll wait with you 🙂

lemonandsugarpancakes · 23/02/2025 17:52

I’m 40. Had a MMC at 10 weeks in November last year. Currently on our 3rd cycle of TTC since. Day 8po, no real symptoms (unlike last month when I convinced myself I had every symptom going!) Trying to avoid testing early so I’ll wait with you all 😊

OliveBee2 · 23/02/2025 18:47

I’m 36 and in the TWW. I’m TTC my second, my first was so ridiculous easy - wasn’t even ‘trying’ - just came off contraception to ‘see what happened’ and the first egg I must have released in 8 years or so resulted in my son! 😂 no fertile window or OPKs or trying to time anything!

But now I have this (completely unjustified) sinking feeling that second time around is going to be a different story … which is daft as it’s only been 2 cycles. The mind is weird at playing tricks on you isn’t it!

What day is everyone waiting for to test? I’m on 6DPO at the moment, don't know what’s worse - the suspense of not knowing or getting a negative and having to go again next cycle ! I’m trying to hold off testing as long as I can …

Period is due around March 1st, although my cycle can vary by 1-2 days so I'm trying to be strong and wait till the 3rd. One week to go! I'm trying not to think about it but it's so hard - every twinge I'm thinking maybe it's "implantation" or something - I know symptoms are rare this early on but it's hard not to overanalyse everything.

My boyfriend keeps asking me what I think of this name and that name, so I know he's thinking about it a lot as well.

Crossing my fingers for your second @OliveBee2 !

7DPO today and no symptoms at all 😞

No, hoping and praying for my first. I wouldn't be worried about no symptoms at this stage, I think a lot of people don't get any at all x

Hi ladies! I am 40 Mid March and also TTC. I started acupuncture 3 weeks ago and taking Chinese herbal tea which I hope will help!!

Ive just started my monthly 😩 so here’s hoping next month will be lucky for us all!

RooneyRu · 24/02/2025 21:59

@BabyBorn I've just started fertility acupuncture too. How are you finding it? I've only had the one session so far but plan to do it weekly for a few months.

Also 40 in mid March :)

MrBigsCat · 24/02/2025 22:03

I’m 40 and ttc now for 19 months but probably about 25 cycles as mine are short
I’m hoping this is the year 🤞🏻🤞🏻 for everyone hope to see some bfps on here.

Fayra · 24/02/2025 23:00

Hi, hope I'm ok to join! Also about to turn 40 and ttc. Currently cd12 so will be in the tww in the next couple of days. Wishing you all lots of luck 🍀

poppymango · 25/02/2025 04:39

My period is not due for another few days but I'm 99% sure this is not my month. I've started to get sore boobs and that general "pre-period" feeling - almost like the lightest hint of cramps. I think I need to organise some fertility tests for the both of us.

Still crossing my fingers for all of you though!! ❤

@RooneyRu hey! I'm finding it quite relaxing. I've been doing twice a week for almost 3 weeks! My ovulation was bang on this month, but I had only had one session prior to ovulating. Hard to tell yet. I have also been less constipated (yuck) more energy and generally feeling so much better. Only weird thing was is that 3 days prior to my period arriving I had the tiniest amount of spotting when I wiped for 3 days, which never happens. Apart from that I am fully on my period now and no pains at all. I will keep going with it for the next 2-3 months and see what happens. I fell pregnant last September and May but miscarried both, so hoping this acupuncture works and we get a sticky baby from it! Are you taking the herbal tea too?

BabyBorn · 25/02/2025 07:56

@poppymango we can only try can't we! Good luck and looking forward to seeing if it works for us both!
