I am now 37 and have one beautiful 10yrs old boy, my partner has 2 boys 9 & 13yrs.

I bought the Hertility kit online, not yet opened it… I was going to give this cycle my last attempt before investigating 🙃

We got pregnant a year ago but due to personal circumstances we both decided to not go ahead, this I carry so much guilt over 🪃

Now we are both ready and settled in our careers and home but now it has taken nearly 6/7cycles.

today I got my 1st + ovulation test, so beginning our January TWW.

what is everyone else’s story 🌟

Ahh, what a fab holiday present!! You’ll be fine flying xxx

SCK2024 · 30/07/2025 09:56

Don’t know how to explain not drinking to the family though 🫠🤦🏻‍♀️

when do I contact my Drs?
after AF hasn’t arrived? X

Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate · 30/07/2025 10:03

Can you drink mocktails? I'd personally just say I didn't fancy a drink if they asked and drink mocktails the rest of the time. I would wait until AF hasn't arrived, although I didnt need to contact the doctors, I self-referred to the hospital I wanted.

curliegirlie · 30/07/2025 12:20

Who are you going on holiday with? It might be easier to explain if it’s family members you feel comfortable with telling so soon, that will at least take the pressure of hiding it for the whole time. I managed a long weekend family gathering a few weeks ago, but probably would have struggled had it been any longer…

SCK2024 · 30/07/2025 17:17

At 38yrs old are you more closely monitored as of age or is it the same? X

OP posts:
Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate · 30/07/2025 17:22

I'm 35 so geriatric but no mention of extra monitoring

Mummysparrow · 30/07/2025 17:56

Lovely line this morning @SCK2024
I am 36 and no real mention of extra monitoring. I am under maternal medicine but that's because I am high risk for other reasons and FMU are going to see me at 16 weeks due to my last baby having CDH but nothing related to age.

No real extra monitoring for age at 38 and you’ll be fine to fly. Have the best time with your happy little secret

curliegirlie · 31/07/2025 05:44

I wasn’t at 35 (unless you count the GTT test, but I can’t remember if I also had that with my first). This time, at 42/43 I’ve been given high strength folic acid, baby aspirin, I’ve been told I’ll have extra growth scans at 36 and 38 weeks, and will be strongly advised to go for induction if I go over 40 weeks. At lot of this seems to be around pre-eclampsia risk (I was also asked to go for the combined test despite having already had the NIPT, as low PAPP-A, which is included in the CT can be a marker for things).

What are those tests? Never heard of them before?

I don’t remember them when I had my son 11yrs ago x

Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) to test for gestational diabetes.
Combined Test is what they do at the same time as the 12 week scan (also using the nuchal translucency - NT - measurement) to screen for Down’s, Edwards and Patau’s syndromes. But one of the things the blood test captures is PAPP-A measurement, which can also point towards other issues.
The Non Invasive Prenatal Test (NIPT) is a more accurate blood test for the 3 trisomies, which you can either get privately, or they offer on the NHS if the combined test gives you a 1 in 150 chance or higher.

Girls I don’t know what to think of all this 12dpo last night had brown liquid bleed, nothing today, told OH we did a clear blue test (below) he isn’t convinced as it’s not a strong line.

Ive done another this morning, not as dark 😢

is it delayed IB? AF due yday/today but no bleeding.
going away today it’s going to be on my mind the whole time. OH says just continue as you would on holiday as you didn’t test and enjoy it and we will do a test when we come home.

anyone had this?

Clearblues aren’t the best test. Have you done another Easy@Home to compare with the last couple of days? If the spotting is brown rather than pink/red that’s encouraging but it could go either way. It’s just a waiting game I’m afraid…

curliegirlie · 01/08/2025 09:05

In terms of continue as you would, it’s completely up to you. This early a drink or two wouldn’t make any difference (it’s a bunch of cells and the placenta hasn’t been formed yet) but understandable if you’d rather not.

I haven’t … wish I had to compare as they are 10miu, that clear blue is 25miu

Morning all, I’m 10dpo bfn and feeling lots of feelings. Sperm analysis is next week and my bloods were normal. I’m struggling to motivate myself to do things and not feeling great.

I’ve flitted between wanting to stop trying and just enjoy the children I have and looking at fertility treatments. I have three, two from a previous relationship and my DH has just the one. He would only really be happy with at least one more so I can’t really flirt with the idea of stopping as an end to it all. He is an amazing father and loves every moment and we’ve both wanted more.

I would love it all to be over one way or another, having another baby or learning it’s not possible. This limboland is so hard

SCK2024 · 02/08/2025 10:12

@Mismatc This was exactly me lovely. 1 of my own OH have 2, tried for nearly 17cycles.
have you had a hycosy done?
wait and see what the SA results come back as.
last cycle I was feeling all doubt and was telling myself that I had to just accept it won’t happen. .. then it did.
sending a big virtual hug to you, it’s hard, damn F hard.
How long have you been trying? X

You could say since DD was born 18months ago (Feb 2024) as we’ve been having regular unprotected sex ever since hoping to get pregnant. I started taking supplements and trying to create gaps in feeding from when she was about 4 months old trying to get pregnant asap. My cycles came back in December/ January just before she was 1. I’ve been tracking, taking daily ovulations tests, researching endlessly and trying to get my fertility back for way over a year and trying with cycles for 9 months-ish.

I’m 36 and my DH has been shown to have 1.4% morphology previously (before we conceived our first and we still managed to conceive) and I feel like TTC has filled my every waking thought for over a year and wasted time I could be enjoying the here and now. I really wanted a small age gap and to finish my family as soon as possible. I had my first two 18 months apart and having two babies was the happiest time of my life.

As a completely personal choice, I didn’t want to have another baby closer to/ beyond 40. I had my first at 23 and have loved every moment of parenthood but still hoped for potentially a little bit of freedom in my 50s that others had in their 20s

Sorry, this is a long and winding answer to what you asked. We have been TTC for 18 months essentially but I’ve been planning these two babies for many years and have been lucky enough to have one of them, my 18 month old DD

SCK2024 · 02/08/2025 10:44

Rant away! 🙂🫶🏼
Thats what the group is for, we are all listening ears here.
I am the same I did not want to be 40 plus having a baby, never did I think I wanted a big age gap!
I have an 11yr old OH has an 11&15yr old 😅
But we wanted one between us 🤞🏼❤️ hoping this baby bean sticks!

We have had so many fun years being selfish doing us, partying, date nights, meals when we haven’t had our boys… did not think it would ever happen for us.

Least you both know on the positive side you both have conceived before ✨🫶🏼

just might be taking longer this time, but I really do think your time is coming for you both, when your least expecting it too x
