As the title suggests, if you’re over 35 and TTC your first, I’d love to hear from you! Would be nice to hear from a few of us in the same boat 🙂

Huge congrats @KittyFantastica 👏
so pleased for you! Xx

Clara202 · 07/01/2025 19:02

@KittyFantastica I’m so happy to see this but I fully understand given your history why you have mixed emotions. But you are pregnant and that is a happy milestone in itself, so tentative congratulations to you!
Does anyone else wonder if they’re doing it at the wrong time despite using OPKs?! It feels like I’ll never get that second line 😅

Thank you so much @Screenburn @BabyTin2025 @Clara202

@Clara202 On my BBT chart below, if you click on it, it shows all the days we DTD with a black X 🤭 I don't bother logging it whilst I'm on a period, but the rest of the month is accurate.

Clara202 · 07/01/2025 20:36

@KittyFantastica that chart is so detailed! Is your ovulation date, the date that you got a positive test or the day(s) after? After I get the static smiley I always wonder how to pinpoint when exactly I ovulated, was it that day, the day after etc 😵‍💫 From your chart it looks like you got a positive test on CD12 with ovulation on CD13, is that correct?

Hi, I'm 37 and on my 4th cycle of ttc my third.
I'm so scared I've missed the boat, being older now!
I've just ordered a test off of Amazon to test for egg reserve.

Would you mind sharing this please? And how accurate is it? I’m slightly older than you and also worried I’ve missed the boat!

KittyFantastica · 07/01/2025 21:51

@Clara202 After my first MC, I started filling out my period apps (and eventually BBT when I started that, though I've only tracked BBT 3 times) as I realised there are things my body does around ovulation or before a positive pregnancy test that I can look out for.

I had a high reading (flashing smiley) on Clearblue digital on CD11 (nothing on OPKs), and peak on both Clearblue digital and OPKs on CD12. Ovulation is usually 12-24 hours after peak, and I have a suuuuper fast peak, but it doesn't determine how fast the egg is released. Based on all my other cycles and my luteal phase, I'd say CD13 was ovulation day. My EWCM dried up after that, so that's a pretty good indicator. Fertility Friend is designed to look for temp raises after a peak, and there was one the next day rather than staying at baseline, so it out ovulation on peak day. I had to change it manually.

I do like BBT tracking. I set up my Apple Watch to do it, so no effort on my behalf, and I like looking forward to seeing what my temp does each day. Makes me feel like I've got something to see each day of the TWW!

carolinep3 · 07/01/2025 21:56

It is just one from Amazon - randox health AMH test. I don't know how accurate they are, decent reviews from most. Just to give it a go.

I didn't know you can link bbt to your Apple Watch?!! I've just purchased a basal thermometer from Amazon

KittyFantastica · 04/01/2025 12:48

So sorry to see this @Sleepypixxie My loss at 6 weeks was similar to a chemical. My tests got lighter and I woke up at 01:30am to mild contractions. The next morning, light bleeding started. It never got particularly heavy, in fact it was mostly clear fluid with slightly larger clots than usual and a bit of red blood, which is apparently usual. For some, I believe chemicals can be just like a regular period.

I conceived 14 days after my 6 week loss, so it doesn't always affect things at all. Sadly, that pregnancy turned into a MMC at 9 weeks, but ovulation and fertilisation happened as normal. Sorry you're going through it.

So sorry you had to go through this too & for your MMC ❤️ I’ve started bleeding today, I think I was just worried it could take weeks or was ectopic due to the pain in my side, but getting there now. Really needed to dig myself out of a mumsnet rabbit hole, not gonna lie!

Good luck to everyone this cycle! Looking forward to reading all your posts ❤️

Clara202 · 08/01/2025 07:54

Regarding the AMH tests online, just be wary. I did one as I got the kit free and then did another one the following month at the doctor’s office, completely different results.

Hi, I've read the pre ious messages and see people talking about increasing EWCM, and taking b6.
My
Prenatal vitamin doesn't seem to have b6 in, and I'm taking coq 10 for egg quality being over 35 can I take b6 as well? I don't seem to have a lot of ewcm anymore as I did when I was younger?

BabyTin2025 · 08/01/2025 16:54

Hope everyone has had a good day! I think I’m out. CD 23 only 9 dpo and I’ve got what could be period stuff starting. I went to the loo and when I wiped it was pink. Little to no CM and honestly my back is killing me. Please fill me with false hope haha and had anyone
had these clearly period related things and still got a BFP? X

Exactly the same, 9dpo and really like pink when wiping today. I know that it me out.
But if you want some hope I spotted on 8-9dpo with a previous cycle and was pregnant, that particular time it was implantation bleeding 🤷🏻‍♀️

EEB1989 · 08/01/2025 17:34

I’ve been lurking on here but not posted yet. I’m 35 and we’re TTC our first. DH is 36.

December was our first cycle, I’m currently 3 days late BUT I ovulated cycle day 20 and was due my period CD29. So technically I’m not late, my period would usually be late if I ovulated late.

I tested at 11DPO but it was BFN. I had really bad cramps at 9DPO but nothing since. For the last two days I’ve had brown discharge/spotting which I never have before AF. I’m usually all or nothing.

Have any of you ladies had this before? I’m going to test on Saturday morning if AF doesn’t show - I’ll be CD36 and I never have cycles that long. I’ve tracked for two years and my longest is 34.

I’m going crazy here in limbo, convinced AF is on the way. If it is, I just want it to hurry up so we can try again.

HollyGolightly4 · 08/01/2025 17:59

I've had brown spotting before @EEB1989 and it was the start of my period. Sorry to say it 😥. It felt like my mind was playing tricks on me- I'm usually all in too. I read somewhere online that spotting is the start of your period if it occurs leading up to it.

However, you could be totally different and it's a wise move to test on Saturday. Sending 💐 and 🤞 for you.

Thank you. I’ve mentally prepared myself for my period.

I just wish it would arrive so we can move on and begin a new cycle 😩.

My cycles have been on average 29 days and the one month we start trying it’s longer… typical 😂.

I tested because I woke up with back ache and mild period-like cramps. Hardly any CM either! Obvs, still time for my period to arrive (hopefully it won't), but not had any spotting. You never know, could be a good sign for you 🤞

Thank you honey. I really hope it’s a good sign for me because I’m losing heart - I know that’s probably so defeatist but it’s really difficult isn’t it to be on the TTC train.

I’m CD 23, 9DPO not due for 5 days so I’d say I wouldn’t regard the spotting as close enough to be my period unless it starts early.

I am hoping your period doesn’t come either lovely - are you due on soon? Xx

KittyFantastica · 09/01/2025 09:02

Bless you @BabyTin2025 It's an absolute roller coaster, isn't it? How long have you been trying?

AF is due tomorrow for me, though I usually spot for a couple of days beforehand. Tests are looking okay, I think, this morning. I'm terrified of another chemical/very early loss or MMC early on, so we are just holding on for dear life waiting, waiting, waiting. Probably another 9-10 weeks of waiting if not a chemical/ very early loss

Clara202 · 09/01/2025 14:00

@KittyFantastica I’m sorry if I’ve asked this before or if you’ve already said but have you been put on any medication for early losses or anything? Brain fog is very real at the moment and I can’t remember if we already discussed this!
I am just awaiting my fertile period. I am going abroad with work this weekend so hopefully it will wait just a few days 😅

Well the ‘how long’ is not an easy question - DH has ED and we haven’t had PS in 2 years so we’re using at home insemination using his swimmers 🙈 it’s a a whole can of worms which is causing a lot of inner conflict for me.

In other news, pretty sure I’m out as I’m almost certain AF has reared her head. I only say pretty sure as I had a normal period with my last and only pregnancy. (Ended in MMC with D&C)

I am holding out so much hope for you my lovely! 🥰 xxx

HollyGolightly4 · 09/01/2025 17:24

@BabyTin2025 I've never met anyone else who had a normal period with pregnancy- I did too. Ended in miscarriage at 13 weeks. 😢 It means I don't feel I can relax from testing, even though I know I'm not pregnant 😢😢😢 xxx

It’s strange isn’t it! Can’t be a nice feeling being on tenterhooks the whole time.

I feel like I’m being negative about myself here but I have literally 0 expectations anymore as I’m always disappointed 😞 xx

HollyGolightly4 · 09/01/2025 17:45

It gets you like that 💐💐💐

KittyFantastica · 09/01/2025 20:18

@Clara202 My hospital's policy is not to provide medication until a scan has been done to confirm the pregnancy is in the right place, and they won't scan before 6 weeks (they actually insist on booking the scan at 7 weeks). My bereavement midwife has contacted the recurrent miscarriage consultant, and the premature birth consultant as well to see if she can get a prescription from either of them.

My progesterone was tested (by accident, I didn't know I was pregnant when I had the blood test) during my last pregnancy and it was actually much higher than usual, so I'm not too worried about progesterone. I'm more concerned about baby aspirin or blood thinners because I've been tested for blood clotting disorders in relation to my second trimester loss and the results haven't come back yet. The care at my hospital is abysmal, and I'm not looking forward to having to fight them every step of the way.
