As the title suggests, if you’re over 35 and TTC your first, I’d love to hear from you! Would be nice to hear from a few of us in the same boat 🙂

Hi I'm joining the thread! I'm 43, we agreed in December to try this year so I'm on my first cycle. Excited but aware that it might not happen. Started off chilled, a week later I got ovulation tests, 2 different pregnancy tests, 2 periods apps... 😆Anyway good luck to us all and it's nice to hear about others in the same boat.

Almost the same as me! I’m 42 next week. I’ve finally got a high OPK post mirena removal, so I’m more positive than I was.
fingers crossed for you!

Welcome @binacoffee! I’m on my first try too. Fingers crossed for you!

Welcome @binacoffee hope you find lots of support here. It really does help to have others to journey with.

I'm 7DPO now and have painful cramps on and off all day. This is pretty usual for me, it feels like AF. I'm still 5 days away from being due AF, but it's unnerving anyway.

Hi @KittyFantastica
also 7dpo now so we’ll likely be due on (or hopefully not!) at the same time! :-)

I’ve had nothing to report until tonight when I’ve had an abundance of sticky (but not stretchy) clear CM, which is unusual for me after ovulating. I’m hoping it’s a decent sign but time will tell!

How are tou feeling now? Hopefully not too much discomfort from the cramps!

is anyone else guilty of sympt spotting?

xx

@BabyTin2025 I am even though I’m trying so hard not to - I’ve got this feeling in the back of my head that I’ll find it difficult to conceive so trying to mentally prepare myself by being negative…but at the same time I genuinely feel so weird! 7DPO (I think - it’s my first time using OPKs so wasn’t 100% sure) and I’ve got weird sensations in my uterus, pre-AF backache, and strong sense of taste/smell that’s knocking me a bit sick.

I know it’s probably all in my head but driving me crazy! Maybe I’ll lighten up a bit after this first cycle…

How are you doing?

KittyFantastica · 06/01/2025 09:05

Hi @BabyTin2025, ah yes, very similar dates. It's always nice to have people to pass the time with :).

My last message should have said the cramping was unusual* for me, not usual, but it's not amounted to anything.

I'm either 8 or 9DPO today (I suspect fertility friend has my ovulation out by a day), but did a test this morning just in case I am 9DPO. BFN, and I've had all my previous positives at 9DPO. Maybe FF is wrong, I'll test again tomorrow. I never really get boob pain, but have noticed they feel a tiny bit tender this morning. Otherwise, beyond the cramps two days ago, I've had no symptoms to spot, really.

thejadestoneandthedragon · 06/01/2025 10:21

AF arrived for me this morning 😒
I had so many 'symptoms' this month - like every month! I'm going to try not to symptom spot this cycle but it's so hard! Good luck to everyone approaching their testing window! Fingers crossed for a BFP on this thread soon 🤞🏽❤️

MrsH26 · 06/01/2025 12:54

1DPO here
Had the most uncomfortable ovulation pain for a few days, which built up to just before midnight and then it was awful for about 30-40mins and then just stopped! Nothing at all today.
so I’m taking that as ovulation, lol

BUT I’m very grateful to have ovulated and hopefully be back on track post coil

HollyGolightly4 · 06/01/2025 13:30

Just to say thank you for starting this thread! I'm really struggling on some of the others where people are starting to talk about how they're struggling with child number 365 (exaggerated 😅) it just feels like a safe space.

Sorry @thejadestoneandthedragon 💐 be nice to yourself.

KittyFantastica · 06/01/2025 14:35

Sorry to hear it @thejadestoneandthedragon. Time for a nice hot bath and some chocolate.

It can be really hard hearing others' experiences wherever you go @HollyGolightly4 I've had three pregnancies, one up to half way through the pregnancy, and still no living children. I'm sure every time I've had a positive there has been someone who wished it was them and had the very normal feelings of 'why not me?' Despite having been pregnant three times, I have the same thoughts every time I see someone trying for baby number 2,3,4, etc. I end up thinking, other people can have any many as they like, but I can't even have one? I think even those trying for baby 4,5,6 have likely had scary or upsetting times along the way.

Conceiving and pregnancy have this outward glow to everyone in society until you actually step into this world and realise what a struggle it is. I learn new things all the time here and am so grateful.

How are you doing and what CD/DPO?

HollyGolightly4 · 06/01/2025 15:06

Sorry, I realise that my post might have come across as a little callous. I didn't intend it to. I'm just struggling a bit! To be clear, I meant those with living children, who seem so casual about it (apologies if this isn't the right place!) you're right @KittyFantastica though - I shouldn't assume. I'm on CD 22, 4 dpo (I think) and feeling a bit emotional!

KittyFantastica · 06/01/2025 15:14

Not at all @HollyGolightly4 I completely understand and agree with your sentiment about it! Sorry if I wasn't clear either, I meant that I feel the same, but have to remind myself that, having already had three pregnancies, I know that those with children may have had traumatic experiences too. It's so hard not to resent people, so I try to remind myself they might be in a similar boat with complications.

One of my friends has had five miscarriages, including a termination for medical reasons, before and between her two living children. No one else knows, so outwardly she looks like a very lucky lady, but inwardly, I know she still mourns all of those babies. She has a ring with all seven of her babies birth stones on it, but to anyone else it just looks like a pretty ring.

Haha this was me, super chill and then suddenly reading into and downloading everything 😆 Am currently using OPK after telling myself I wouldn’t. They’ve been useful though for showing me the app I was using last month was off (so basically wasn’t doing the deed at the right time in December at all 😒)

Wishing you lots of luck for this cycle! It’s difficult not to symptom spot isn’t it? I’m doing ok thank you - just trying to stay calm and relaxed during the 2ww. X

Clara202 · 06/01/2025 21:02

@HollyGolightly4 that is exactly why I started this thread. I was looking over a lot of TTC over 35 threads but it seemed as if many were TTC their 2nd or 3rd, and I was on some TTC #1 threads but many seemed to be in their 20s/early 30s. TTC can be tough for anyone, whether it’s #1 or #7, age 25 or 45, but I really needed not to feel so alone in my own situation.

KittyFantastica · 07/01/2025 09:54

I've had mild cramping, fatigue and had sensitive boobs yesterday, which is really unusual for me. I also woke up with mild cramps today and back ache, so tested this morning, 9DPO.

The lines came up straight away, though awkwardly, the FRER is pretty much negative. I stood in the bathroom for a good five minutes staring at it in shock and fear. I'm elated, obviously, but so, so frightened. I'm 36, this is my fourth pregnancy and I have, as yet, no living children.

Oh @KittyFantastica I'm crossing everything for you. That mixture of fear and elation- so powerful.

KittyFantastica · 07/01/2025 11:11

Thank you @HollyGolightly4 It's been an intense morning. I've been very tearful in the last few days, so maybe it's been hormones ramping up.

Does anyone here track BBT? I use Fertiloty Friend and linked it to my Apple Watch and I've just noticed my resting heart rate gradually increased as well, which is interesting.

Omg congratulations @KittyFantastica, keeping everything crossed for you and sending all the positive vibes your way ✨️ 🥰

thejadestoneandthedragon · 07/01/2025 13:45

And FWIW if I got that line on a frer I'd be happy! 😅 you're still testing early remember! Dont be hard in yourself 🥰

BabyS2025 · 07/01/2025 14:35

Congrats @KittyFantastica

MrsH26 · 07/01/2025 15:35

Tentative congratulations for you @KittyFantastica I have everything crossed for you

KittyFantastica · 07/01/2025 16:00

Thank you @MrsH26 @BabyS2025 @thejadestoneandthedragon

It's significantly lighter than the 9DPO positive FRER I had with my son, so I'm tentatively hoping for some nice progression. My other two pregnancies were both very slow starters, so it makes me nervous. My 6 week loss never really developed past 12DPO and my 9 week loss didn't develop well until 17DPO; I could only get visible lines with SMU!

Screenburn · 07/01/2025 16:02

Oh @KittyFantastica so pleased to see this. Tentative congrats and keeping everything crossed for you!
