TTC #1 no previous pregnancies cycle #6 - looking for others in the same boat!

MocktailMe · 10/06/2024 11:59

Hi all.

As per the title, TTC first baby, I've never had a confirmed pregnancy before. I'm 31, bf is 27.

Been trying to conceive 9 months, but due to PCOS only 6 cycles.

This year I've lost weight, and my cycles since January have varied from 28 days to 38 days. Had PCOS confirmed, and currently waiting for an appointment with gynaecologist to see if I need further assistance. Appointment is taking its sweet time so for now doing it the old fashioned way still with plenty of hope (at least some days, not so much others!!!).

I'm currently on cycle day number 28, negative tests, no signs of a period in sight, CM up to my eyeballs and a whole heap of doubt over when ovulation occured!!

If you are :

TTC #1
A woman who has never been pregnant
Pissing on sticks at an ALARMING rate
Potentially with PCOS but healthy ovaries welcome 😁

Then PLEASE join my thread, so in need of buddies in a similar boat! ⛵

No offence to those TTC #2 or more, genuinley ❤️ just hoping to speak to people who also have no idea what pregnancy would feel like, and who also maybe have the fear they CANNOT ever get pregnant ❤️

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, @MocktailMe , @KTB34 and @CharLdn .
Also, massive congratulations @KTB34 !

I will definitely get the supplements you've mentioned. I was reading about inositol yesterday. I will order the inofolic alpha today. I just started the proceive max which threw off my cycle so hopefully, that would help it.
It certainly has felt like a roller rollercoaster!

KTB34 · 15/04/2025 14:51

@OneKindBear I swear by inofolic alpha, I really do think this helped regulate my hormones. And it was recommended to me by a fertility specialist. It also contains folic acid which is encouraged if you are trying to conceive.

I also forgot add, I also strength train 3x a week and eat a lot of meat, carbs, fruit and veg etc.

Thanks @ktb34.
I'm thinking of buying the tablet one. Do you know if it is better than the sachets?

KTB34 · 15/04/2025 15:16

I never tried the tablet one, I used the sachets twice a day!

@OneKindBear no problem at all. I was advised it could take up to 3 cycles before there is a change. I took mine from about July last year, then fell pregnant in Aug but sadly we lost that baby. I then carried on taking it throughout, post loss and fell pregnant again in Dec. Nov was also my first proper period so I’d like to think the supplements helped. I will warn you when I first started taking it I had some let’s just say extra bowel movements lol

😂😂😂 thanks for that heads up, @KTB34. I'm hoping it arrives tomorrow so I can start it being CD2.
I'm so sorry to hear about that loss!

KTB34 · 15/04/2025 21:04

@OneKindBear thank you 🤍

There is a lot of support in this group!

KT199 · 16/04/2025 06:44

Welcome @OneKindBear !! I can’t offer any PCOS advice but does look like you’ve had plenty already! Good luck on your TTC journey, but we will all be here throughout the ups and downs! There’s lots of amazing support on this thread!

I am one of the ladies who is currently pregnant but verrrrryyy early (only 5 weeks today). I had a loss back in December which took a long time to resolve so we’re hoping to be 2nd time lucky.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! I'm keeping everything crossed for you that this is 2nd time lucky and everything goes well for you!

Welcome @OneKindBear and good luck in your TTC journey! This group's been very supportive! 💜
I am now 11 weeks pregnant (still worried sick of course!)
Don't underestimate the start of your fertile period, even before your positive OPK result. Other things which I think helped me were: good AMH levels (although I know this can be messed up if PCOS), taking CoQ10, vitamin D and folic acid, healthy "mediterranean" diet, and trying to enjoy life in general.

KTB34 · 16/04/2025 18:26

Evening all, just popping on to say I had my 20 week scan today at 20w 4d and found out we are having a little boy 💙

Please keep the faith, it can happen 🥹

Still worry everyday but each day at a time !

Awwwww congratulations, how amazing! Your story is definitely giving me hope 💖

20 weeks is such an amazing milestone especially to be without any complications. Try to enjoy as much of your pregnancy as you can, your baby will be in your arms before you know it!

Try not to worry - although that is probably easier said than done, but 12 weeks is around the corner. Thank you so much for those advice! I'll definitely keep the fertile period advice in mind.

@ktb34 Awww, that is such amazing news! Congratulations! 💗💗 Definitely hoping it happens this cycle.

MocktailMe · 17/04/2025 08:19

@KTB34 such lovely news for you. 20 weeks is an amazing milestone.

Update from me that's not much of an update! I'm 5 weeks post surgery now and still no sign of my period. I know this is no wait at all compared to what @KT199 went through!! But I'm beginning to get quite impatient. On the plus side, since it's taking such a long time I might actually go ahead and have the HSG next cycle when it appears.

I'm torn - I wanted (and actually needed) to heal internally before the procedure but if it is 6-8 weeks post op maybe that's okay? But equally, I know there can be benefits for 3 months after the procedure for opening tubes. We can't TTC again until mid June due to the surgery and Metformin. If I end up having the procedure at the start of May I may end up 'wasting' some of the open tube time.

But equally we also can't TTC until I've had the HSG (well, I suppose technically we can, but I'm not willing to - if my other tube is totally damaged then I'm absolutely not going again and ending up having this nightmare again) so maybe better to get it done ASAP?

Would you...
A) wait until second period then book for HSG, even though that might delay TTC a month, but ensure full TTC time to get the benefit of increased fertility.
B) book HSG after first period even though you may not feel some of the 'benefits' (bearing in mind it is primarily a diagnostic tool that has the benefit of increased fertility as a side effect).

Of course, if the HSG throws up a problem with my remaining tube then natural TTC is over anyway, and I would rather know that ASAP too.

@KT199 @OneKindBear @MocktailMe thank you all so much 🤍

@MocktailMe I think that you’ve been through that much wait until you can have the HSG done properly so you know what you are contending with. Another month of not TTC in the long term will not be that much difference compared to knowing the full facts before you start again. Like you say all may be ok and you can TTC or it may lead onto other things. But either way at least you will know and can prepare !

lavafield · 17/04/2025 09:48

@KTB34 congrats on amazing news! 💜 A big milestone! Hope the second half of the pregnancy goes smoothly!
@MocktailMe Hard to advise after you have been through sooo much and can only imagine what you feel, but I would probably go with option A and wait a month. I know it is hard but could be worth it in the end. Whatever you decide, I am glad to hear things are moving one way or the other! 💫

MocktailMe · 18/04/2025 17:01

Hi ladies. Thanks for the advice. I've actually started cramping and spotting today so looks like my first (very painful!) period since January is inbound. I feel sad as this truly signals the end of my pregnancy and all my hopes, but also relieved, as shows my body is healing.

I think I'm going to take your advice and wait another full cycle before I book the HSG. I have honestly only just started to feel healed and normal physically inside and think another few weeks to let everything get to normal can't hurt, especially with the infection risk of the procedure.

I also know it might be bad news following the HSG and a few more weeks to feel mentally stronger won't hurt. Thanks for your help xxx

KT199 · 20/04/2025 20:47

I hope you period did arrive @MocktailMe - that feels like such a strange thing to say considering the TTC community but I completely understand the desperation for it to arrive after such an ordeal.. for me it felt a relief and like my body was recovering as it needed to.

I think I would wait another cycle too for the HSG, get your body back to fighting fit and hopefully have the best chance at naturally TTC. It is positive there is a path paved for your journey, I think that kind of focus will help with the mental battle going forward.

I hope everyone has managed to enjoy some time off work over the bank hol, we decided to book a weekend away to keep our minds and bodies active instead of sitting home and worrying. It’s worked well, although the fact I’m almost 6 weeks now (well I am 6 weeks based off LMP but ovulated a few days after CD14 so readjusted myself) is making me impatient as technically I could go for a scan this week.. but we decided to give it a little longer and wait until 7.5 weeks and just hope we’re measuring where we should be then as there should be a reasonably sized fetal pole and heartbeat. The baby never grew beyond 6+2 last time and that was delayed. a week behind, so hoping by waiting a little we take some of the uncertainty away.

CharLdn · 21/04/2025 17:46

@MocktailMe I'd go with what others said and wait one more cycle - but do what you need to do to look after yourself in that time - treat it as time to prep your body - and your brain.

Good luck @KT199 - sounds like a good idea to go away and keep distracted.

Yay @KTB34 - thats so exciting!!!

In my world I'm back on the mira app tracking - and we definitely bonked at exactly the right time this month - hit a very high LH peak and my FSH has been higher this time. So hopefully metformin is making a bit of a difference!

Got everything crossed for this month and feeling tentatively hopeful?!

KT199 · 21/04/2025 21:26

Fingers crossed for you @CharLdn !!

MocktailMe · 24/04/2025 19:20

Good luck to you @CharLdn sounds like everything is timed perfectly and I really hope it's your time!

@KT199 only another week to go until you'll be able to have a scan. Hard as it is I think you're right to wait, I'm sure you know the stats as well as I do and the further along you get when hearing a heartbeat the more certain you can be that all is well - you don't want to end up starting too soon and being back there every few days for reassurances! I have everything crossed for a happy healthy scan when you go - let us know the date you book and I'll be thinking of you!

KT199 · 24/04/2025 19:49

Ah thank you @MocktailMe, the anxiety is setting in now tbh. I’d done so well up until the last few days when I’ve found it quite consuming.. but it is probably quite a normal reaction considering what happened the other month and I am now around the time at which the baby stopped growing before. I don’t want to compare but it’s so hard to not!! We’ve booked the scan for 3rd May so it feels ages to wait but as you said, if we went this weekend we risk that a heartbeat may not have developed and needing to go back to confirm what situation we’re in.
How are you doing?

MocktailMe · 24/04/2025 20:18

Yes you really don't want to go in this weekend and end up in turmoil when it might just be a little bit too early. Save yourself the anxiety I really think you'll be glad you waited. I know how impossible it is to not compare - as I did the same thing but realistically even two healthy pregnancies can be very different or exactly the same - it doesn't mean much! My heart goes out to you and I know it feels forever now but the waiting will be over soon.

I'm doing okay. Period is over and I'm just using this waiting period to relax. I don't miss TTC one little bit and I'm dreading trying again, but still hoping I'll actually be able to! A tricky time!

Is anyone else in the two week wait?

I’m back tracking on Mira and my progesterones looking good 🤞 it feels like watching a really slow moving horse race…

currently day 21 and probably a week to go till I can test…
