MocktailMe · 10/06/2024 11:59

Hi all.

As per the title, TTC first baby, I've never had a confirmed pregnancy before. I'm 31, bf is 27.

Been trying to conceive 9 months, but due to PCOS only 6 cycles.

This year I've lost weight, and my cycles since January have varied from 28 days to 38 days. Had PCOS confirmed, and currently waiting for an appointment with gynaecologist to see if I need further assistance. Appointment is taking its sweet time so for now doing it the old fashioned way still with plenty of hope (at least some days, not so much others!!!).

I'm currently on cycle day number 28, negative tests, no signs of a period in sight, CM up to my eyeballs and a whole heap of doubt over when ovulation occured!!

If you are :

TTC #1
A woman who has never been pregnant
Pissing on sticks at an ALARMING rate
Potentially with PCOS but healthy ovaries welcome 😁

Then PLEASE join my thread, so in need of buddies in a similar boat! ⛵

No offence to those TTC #2 or more, genuinley ❤️ just hoping to speak to people who also have no idea what pregnancy would feel like, and who also maybe have the fear they CANNOT ever get pregnant ❤️

@CharLdn yeah I think you can just proceed with the fertility specialists now, though it's good you that have hycosy already arranged and blood tests taken as it will save you time and you won't have to repeat them all over again

@MocktailMe glad you are getting counselling, and a closure of this sad chapter soon, so you can start moving on slowly, gently and gradually.

@KT199 have a great wedding! 💍

@KTB34 sorry you ended up in hospital and yeah, codeine sounds quite hardcore, anything else safe they recommend for pain?

I am 8 weeks now and waiting for my NIPT and scan in two weeks, super anxious!

MocktailMe · 27/03/2025 05:55

@KTB34 I had to Google that one - I hope you're doing okay!l
@lavafield not too long to go now and I have everything crossed for a happy healthy scan for you! We need some good news on this thread!

OP posts:
KTB34 · 27/03/2025 06:22

@MocktailMe me too, had never heard of it either. Not the greatest experience! How are you?

@lavafield good luck with the scan, it will come round very quick!

KTB34 · 30/03/2025 10:07

Thinking of everyone today 🤍

MocktailMe · 30/03/2025 11:33

You all too. Im struggling today and can't wait for it to end. ❤️

Heyyy ladies!!

Thinking of you all 💖

A very conflicted day for me.. as it’s my birthday too. I’m trying to just push away any sadness and enjoy the day being grateful for what I do have. Plus I’m very busy as we leave for our wedding tomorrow so that’s a welcomed distraction.

KTB34 · 30/03/2025 19:14

How exciting! I hope your wedding day is special ! Happy birthday too! 🥳

CharLdn · 05/04/2025 19:27

How are we doing ladies?

I’ve just taken my first metformin praying I don’t have adverse affects…

I’m day 1 of my cycle so taking this as a fresh start…

MocktailMe · 05/04/2025 20:37

Good luck @CharLdn! I hope the Metformin will be the push your body needs I'm rooting for you.

@KT199 you must be a married lady now - I hope everything went perfectly!

I'm not doing so great currently. I'm still taking it very easy as although I'm getting better each day I am still healing and it's hard. I've now had a negative blood test so HCG back to zero and I'm waiting for a period, which I've been told could take several weeks. No TTC on the cards for a while, but I plan to book my HSG after my second period - I've been advised to wait until then to be fully healed due to infection risk.

Still taking it a day at a time over here and dealing with the grief.

CharLdn · 08/04/2025 12:30

@MocktailMe day at a time sounds good ❤️

Ive got my hycosy booked for the 20th May so we’ll both have a better idea of what’s under the hood.

I’ve not had any bad affects on metformin although only on 250 mg a day with dinner so hopefully 🤞 it will be ok.

Waitingformiracle · 08/04/2025 16:17

Hi ladies, I’m so sorry for my radio silence. Truth be told I’ve been struggling a lot. I still have not had a single positive test since my loss last June and I find these forums difficult sometimes watching others get BFPs. It looks like I will be going ahead with IVF unless something happens in the next few weeks.

I am so sorry terribly sorry to see that there has been so much sad news since I have been on here last.

@MocktailMe i am terribly sorry about your ectopic, that sounds absolutely traumatic and I’m so sorry for your loss. You don’t deserve this.

@KT199 I’m so sorry for your loss. I see you also got married so congratulations. I’m sure it’s been a bittersweet time.

@CharLdn wishing you the best of luck with all the tests! I hope the metformin will make a difference for you!

@KTB34 I hope you are feeling well and things are going well with your pregnancy. Sorry to see you’ve had such bad pelvic pain.

@lavafield congratulations on your BFP and I hope things are going ok. I know how anxious a time it can be.

I’m so sorry if I’ve missed anything or anyone!

Sending lots of love

KTB34 · 08/04/2025 16:37

Hi ladies I hope everyone is ok!

@CharLdn how are you finding the tablets? Glad you’ve got the procedure booked in, hopefully you’ll get some answers.

@MocktailMe sorry to hear you have been struggling!

@KT199 I hope you had the best wedding day! Such an amazing experience 🤍

@Waitingformiracle this is progress with the IVF, I am hoping you get some good news very soon. Look after yourself during the process. I am ok thank you, no pain since so taking each day is it comes!

On count down till Friday as I break up for two weeks!

MocktailMe · 08/04/2025 22:21

@Waitingformiracle so lovely to hear from you, I had been wondering & hoped perhaps you'd had good news and so sorry to hear you haven't yet - but I am so pleased for your IVF news. Depending on the results of my HSG I may well be joining you in a few months. We actually have a referral already, but after the surgeon said my other tube visually looked okay I really want to check, as I'm praying I only had the one bad one, and that now it's gone I may be safe to try naturally.

It must be really hard waiting for another positive for so long and I totally understand you keeping your distance from the site. I've not been on much this last month, I still care very very much about everyone's journey and the supports been amazing, but sometimes it can be too much.

One good thing is I have started counselling and I'd recommend it to all you ladies - I wish I'd had some 8 months ago or so when I got to the year mark.

Waitingformiracle · 08/04/2025 23:31

@MocktailMe thank you for your kind words. I’m glad to hear that things are looking up somewhat for you, after such a terrible time. I hope you get cleared to try yourself soon, and if not I’ll be here to share anything I can about the ivf journey!

I still am hoping I might get some good news before we start, you do hear stories like that sometimes but I’ll see. I do feel somewhat more optimistic now that there is some potential light at the end of the tunnel!

I’m so glad to hear you are finding the counselling beneficial. My husband has been gently suggesting I get some for a few months now. I did see a counsellor at the hospital where I had my loss but I found it so triggering going back there. May I ask does yours deal specifically with fertility and pregnancy loss or are they more general?

MocktailMe · 09/04/2025 09:06

It's specifically for pregnancy loss - Petals. They are partnered with the hospital who handled my losses so was arranged through them. I had to return to hospital 4 times post surgery anyway so was arranged then but the counselling is not at the hospital itself.

You certainly do hear of miracles just before IVF begins so you really never know - but I think even knowing the help is lined up and the end of the tunnel is in sight is such a blessing.

The desire to be pregnant again is all-encompassing at the moment and I'm struggling with the mandated waiting period. That said, I'm still waiting for my first period post surgery anyway (and it's been nearly 4 weeks) so I know I wouldn't actually have been able to try yet. I stay strong in the belief that when I finally have my baby in my arms this hell will have been worth it, but I wish I knew when that would be.

Hey ladies,

@MocktailMe I hope you are doing as well as can be, thinking of you still.

@Waitingformiracle fingers crossed for the IVF or some ever earlier suprise.

Before you read on I want to add a trigger warning as I know some of you ladies are struggling and I don’t want to cause any upset.

I am now officially a Mrs and loving every moment! We arrived home yesterday and my period hadn’t arrived yet which id put down to all the travel as we were long haul.. much to my surprise two lines appeared immediately 🥹

lavafield · 11/04/2025 09:33

@KT199 Congratulations, now a happy wife! And wow, what a great surprise! In many cases, a BFP comes when least expected or when tons of other things or life events happening!

@MocktailMe I am very pleased to hear counselling has helped with your grief and it is a positive sign you now want to get pregnant again and can't wait to start trying, this means the healing is well under way! You will get there! 💕

@Waitingformiracle good luck with preparations for IVF, it is good to know you have a plan, and then who knows, maybe you get pregnant just before?! I got my BFP just days after my initial fertility consultation!

@CharLdn hope your treatment is going well, all is this means you are on the right track!

My scan at 10 weeks went well, so far so good! I am still not out of the woods, but 12 weeks is very soon now.

MocktailMe · 11/04/2025 12:10

@KT199 congratulations lovely. I know exactly the hell you've been through now with waiting after loss and struggling and you deserve this so much. I really hope this pregnancy will work out everything is crossed please keep us updated!

@lavafield happy to hear your 10 week scan was a success. Not long til 12 weeks at all now.

@KT199 omg yay!!! We love happy news ❤️

@lavafield also great news 🤞 hope you’re feeling ok

in other positive news I haven’t sh*t myself on metformin (yet) so that’s good - I’m upping my dose tomorrow 🤞

KTB34 · 11/04/2025 22:22

@KT199 big congrats to you 🤍

@lavafield glad to hear your scan went ok !

KT199 · 14/04/2025 12:23

Thank you ladies!!

I am trying to control the anxiety and worry which creeps in every now and then by telling myself nothing that happens is in my control and worrying won’t change that. So best to try enjoy these moments and make the most of it. I’m still very early at 4+5 but getting dye stealer tests so hopefully things are progressing as they should be.

OneKindBear · 14/04/2025 20:14

Hi everyone,
Lovely to join the group. I'm 35, ttc, found out for the first time last year that I have pcos - never had any symptoms and had periods that are between 31-37 days.
I currently taking multivitamins and omega 3, tracking with clearblue and opks.
Open to advice, tips, anything, as well as to get and give support to others on this journey.

MocktailMe · 14/04/2025 21:24

@CharLdn this really gave me a laugh! You're doing better than I did on it already!

@KT199 you deserve it so much and I will keep everything crossed for you.

@OneKindBear lovely to 'meet' you and you're very welcome to join. I don't know if you've RTFT or not, but we've had some really sad times on here, but 3 of our lovely group are currently pregnant so there's good news in here too and lots of advice posted along the way especially surrounding PCOS. @CharLdn is really the expert in that area and she's tried so many things to help.

How long have you been trying?

OP posts:
KTB34 · 15/04/2025 07:38

@OneKindBear welcome to the group 🤍

I am also 35 and currently pregnant with our rainbow baby 🌈

I also have suspected PCOS (still waiting to be confirmed via NHS). I’ve had a private scan done, following that I started taking daily inofolic alpha and vitamin D. I stopped OCP in Feb 24 and did not have a period, the only period I had was Nov 24 following our miscarriage. I also tracked using clear blue, always making sure to have sex on the day of a positive, the following day and again 3rd (if we could). Hard because it all feels so ‘regimented’.

I know there are some other things you can take with PCOS such a metaformin. I know they advise if you are over 35 to get investigated sooner rather than later. Good luck!

CharLdn · 15/04/2025 11:24

@MocktailMe I spoke too soon on the metformin side affects - yesterday was erm 💩 🤮 interesting….

@OneKindBear welcome!!!

If you’re interested in understanding PCOS I really like Dr Natalie Crawfords podcast.

I’m cure taking Myo inositol, wild nutrition general fertility supplements, and vit D.

I’ve just started metformin - which was going well when I stuck to the advice of high protein, low GI diet and then on Sunday I ate a lot of picnic food and Easter eggs and had DIRE consequences.

Overall I’ve been managing my suspected PCOS with Accupuncture every other week, strength training and high protein diet (100g +/day) my periods used to be 23-33 days but are now very regular 26-8 mostly.

Unfortunately I’m still not preggo but am back on the LH strips and next month having. Hycosy.

My tips would be:

  • View TTC as a marathon not a sprint and try not to compare your journey to others (much easier said than done!)
  • I try to be healthy 80% of the time so I’m not completely obsessive
  • This year I’m trying to live my life with TTC as a side hustle - so booking holidays and having child free fun
  • It’s a rollercoaster 🎢 and sometimes not fun.
  • Find mates to talk about it with if you need as there’s nothing like speaking to people who really get it.
  • If you can try and get tested by your GP - you’re eligible for further investigations aged 35 if you’ve been trying for 6 months- get a full hormone panel if you can + thyroid
  • also fresh pasta has 20g of protein 💪🏻

Good luck 🤞

I’m heading into sex week with severe gastric symptoms so wish me luck ladies ✨
