Hi all.

As per the title, TTC first baby, I've never had a confirmed pregnancy before. I'm 31, bf is 27.

Been trying to conceive 9 months, but due to PCOS only 6 cycles.

This year I've lost weight, and my cycles since January have varied from 28 days to 38 days. Had PCOS confirmed, and currently waiting for an appointment with gynaecologist to see if I need further assistance. Appointment is taking its sweet time so for now doing it the old fashioned way still with plenty of hope (at least some days, not so much others!!!).

I'm currently on cycle day number 28, negative tests, no signs of a period in sight, CM up to my eyeballs and a whole heap of doubt over when ovulation occured!!

If you are :

TTC #1
A woman who has never been pregnant
Pissing on sticks at an ALARMING rate
Potentially with PCOS but healthy ovaries welcome 😁

Then PLEASE join my thread, so in need of buddies in a similar boat! ⛵

No offence to those TTC #2 or more, genuinley ❤️ just hoping to speak to people who also have no idea what pregnancy would feel like, and who also maybe have the fear they CANNOT ever get pregnant ❤️

Just to update - still no AF or signs of. Still negative. Assuming myself to be around 5/6dpo now despite cycle day 32

@MocktailMe @Nessie2395 thanks guys it’s hard but I had a great Accupuncture session today which helped.

Accepting I can be sad and jealous and also happy for my friend is key.

My acupuncturist is an actual angel - she said it takes most people longer to conceive than a year and there’s time. She’s just so calming and supportive I’d literally just pay her for the chat tbh. It’s just all so mentally exhausting.

I’ve deliberately booked a horse riding holiday in September I wouldn’t be able to go on if preggo as it’s important to have other stuff to look forward to!

@Nessie2395 I took the plunge and started a new job after being with an employer ages. I was concerned I wouldn't qualify for maternity, turns out I didn't need to worry about that 😂😢

I'd say do it. Life's too bloody short and TTC is too bloody long! I doubt you'll regret it, and you'd still get mat allowance if nothing else. You can't be discriminated against if you fall pregnant as soon as you start anyway so I really think silly not to.

That said I didn't walk away from a good mat package in the first place. Even if I had though I feel certain id have done the same thing..my new job is much more enjoyable.

That's really helpful thank you, you're right! Life is too short and TTC is apparently too long 😅 the sooner I start looking for something else the better!! Glad you are enjoying your new role 😁

MocktailMe · 14/06/2024 09:47

@Nessie2395 get looking Hun, be a good distraction from TTC too.

@CharLdn thats such a good idea! I know you're having a months break ATM, where in your cycle are you and what sort of time will you be rejoining us in the TTC madness??

I'm now cycle day 33 - potentially 6/7 dpo and have got heaps more creamy CM again and a few light cramps. Could mean bloody anything with my body. Or nothing at all!

I’m on cd 14 now which is normally around when I appear to ovulate so will probably get to it this weekend because I feel like it!! It’s been a lovely break tbh!

For sure!

That sounds quite like positive signs @MocktailMe . Don't be disheartened by the BFNs as 6/7DPO is still too early for the majority of people.

I can imagine! I'm thinking of taking one myself at the one year mark if I've not made it by then.

Enjoy a weekend shagging hopefully it works!!!

I've never had accupuncture - would you reconmend it? Your acupuncturist sounds amazing, more like a therapist. A horse riding holiday is a great idea - definitely make the most of being able to do one, silver linings and all that. I think life must go on whilst TTC, as far as possible. I know someone at work who became a hermit and obsessively lived a healthily lifestyle for a couple years whilst she was TTC, nothing happened and she was very unhappy all round. She wouldn't even have one cocktail on her birthday just because she was TTC! She was very open about how the enjoyment had been sucked from life. Eventually she had IVF and has twins now so that's great but I think other aspects of life also need to be nurtured

Thank you! I feel stupid testing as I feel it's either too early or too late or just plain too unlikely all round, but reasonably I don't know when I ovulated, all I know is I'm on cycle day 33 without a period, and so it COULD be the right time to test. But then it's blank and I feel so daft!

Update from me, I spoke to my GP and the doctor was not very helpful. She was a junior doctor and admitted she didn't know much, I appreciated her honesty. She said well I could refer you for IVF but not until after a year, she didn't even suggest initial blood tests or realise there were steps to try between this and IVF. Then she said you should be to your endo consultant about what to do (I have an appointment in November) but I then said, gynaecology are not fertility and they are very reluctant to get into fertility as it's not their area! Also November is nearly half a year away.

She then admitted she wasn't knowledgeable about 'this sort of thing' and rebooked me with a different GP for next Friday...

MocktailMe · 14/06/2024 14:17

Oh @Nessie2395 that's so frustrating! There are so many steps between naturally trying and IVF she shouldn't scare you into thinking you have to wait and year and then that's your only option!

I am glad that she did admit it's not something she knows much about though. Hopefully your next GP will be more tuned in. They ought to be ordering for your day 21 bloods to be taken to check you are ovulating etc. Thats step one. Then step two is likely a scan to check your ovaries. These are the things you should ask for Hun when you speak to the next one. If the next one is also no use I would seriously consider switching practice.

I am trying hard not to be this friend! I don't drink anymore anyway tbf (as my name may give away!) but that would be the same regardless of TTC. There are other things though that I worry about doing - I distinctly remember a few months ago not going on rides at the seaside 'just in case' despite the fact statistically some of the teens riding on them that very day were probably ACTUALLY pregnant and will have been just fine (I of course was not 😂)

@Nessie2395 so sorry about your GP - it’s so frustrating.

What I’ve found works is being a massive Karen and going in asking what you want.

so saying you know you’ve got low egg count and a kink and you want to get re scanned and get amh, and progesterone tested.

I’ve been really enjoying this podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/12IYOLH9liu60gk5D0bRPk?si=yfup3GbDSdq1Q5wtBv1gEA

and the episode of Steven bartletts podcast with her was great!

@MocktailMe thank you!! Yes it's so frustrating but you're right it's good she acknowledged that she wasn't knowledgeable. I think the bloods would be a great start, I get positive OPKs at the same time every cycle but that doesn't necessarily mean I ovulate.

Haha it's so tempting to be ultra careful though, to give it your best shot! But yes next time you should go on the rollercoaster 😆 I didn't have hot baths for a few months 'in case' - soon gave that up after 4 months of trying, I love boiling myself in the bath!

How are things with you, have you tested again?

Nessie2395 · 16/06/2024 14:35

@CharLdnthank you it's was a bit disappointing I admit. Kind of expected it though, GPs in general have not been helpful for me. It took me 10 years and about 15 GP appointments to get taken seriously for endo.

I've not heard of that podcast I'll definitely check it out thank you! I've not listened to many podcasts actually and would like to.

How are you doing?

MocktailMe · 16/06/2024 14:39

@Nessie2395 no changes with me, still negative, still no AF or signs. Still creamy CM which usually means AF won't be coming yet as I dry up beforehand.

Really losing any hope at all for this cycle now tbh, CD 35 and probably 8/9 Dpo. If I'm not pregnant I'm also upset to be having a 35+ day cycle as lifestyle changes had seen them shorten down to 31 the last 3 cycles. Feels like nothing is improving.

CharLdn · 16/06/2024 16:35

@Nessie2395 I really like Dr Natalie Crawford - she’s really helpful. Good luck with GPs sounds tough.

I’m good I had a big cry yesterday which was very cathartic and have played a lot of tennis which has helped so had a good weekend.

@MocktailMe try and be kind to yourself we can only try our best with lifestyle and there are so many other factors out of our control too ❤️ Can you do anything nice for yourself this week? I had a big menty b yesterday which has really helped.

Nessie2395 · 16/06/2024 18:57

@MocktailMe I'm sorry you're feeling down, it's totally understandable 😥 the lifestyle changes will be helping though, this month's cycle may be longer but it's still great you managed to have three consistent 31 days cycles in a row. That's a definite positive trend! And 8/9dpo is still early so there's still time for a BFP.

Nessie2395 · 16/06/2024 18:59

@CharLdn the big crys really do help don't they! I had one when we hit the sixth months mark, my poor DP was so sweet about it and then made me cry more. All the fertility issues are on my side (he's had semen analysis) so I feel a lot of guilt which I tried to explain.

I've never played tennis. You seem quite sporty, it's great for stress relief isn't it! I always feel better after a good workout.

MocktailMe · 18/06/2024 11:39

Hi ladies how are you both? Just checking in!

I'm currently CD37 BFN no sign of AF. My cervix is still soft and high which is giving me (probably false) hopes. I reckon I'm around 10dpo now, I'm expecting a period by Saturday. The next couple of days will surely either switch to AF symptoms or BFP (which is probably v unlikely).

If no period by then then I'm at a loss, I'm not had EWCM since last Saturday (8th) so if that was a failed ovulation then this cycle will be an extremely long one!

Hi, would love to join! TTC #1 too. 2nd cycle trying. Never been pregnant. Cycles also vary from 28 days to 35 days, occasionally as long as 38 days. Ovulated late this cycle so should be 6-7 DPO now. Only DTD 4/5 and 2/3 days before ovulation but hope still caught it. Usually I can pinpoint ovulation with physical signs. I did try to use OPK this month but never managed to catch a peak and then ran out of tests as this cycle is so long. 😂 But I did progesterone day 21 (well, day 28 for me) test, which confirmed ovulation. My GP practice was remarkably responsive and booked me in exactly when I needed it without seeing the GP first or questioning how long trying etc, but then I am a bit on the older side so hope that helped 😂. very pleased with it and my test results. Let's see! I won't test until next weekend, which will be about 11 DPO. Had some slight rambling in lower abdomen on 6DPO. Could be something but could be usual pre AF 🤷‍♀️ good luck everyone!!!

Hi lava :) it's lovely to have you on board!

Good news the GP was so proactive and fantastic news they have confirmed ovulation! How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

We are only a few days apart by the looks of it! If my AF arrives by Saturday then I'll still be checking in to see how yours is!

Lovely to be in this group and to have some TWW buddies :) it is a tough journey! I am 42 so time is of course not on my side but my AMH is high and all the hormones are good so just a matter of getting that quality egg out! :)
Fingers crossed for you this week @MocktailMe

MocktailMe · 18/06/2024 21:48

If you are ovulating and have good AMH then you've still got a shot I would say! And if the GP is already getting the ball rolling then some help will swiftly be on the way if needed I would hope.

Any other symptoms you're noticing? Although deffo on the early side for you!
