I went to reply and you were right, the thread was full so I couldnt post a link to a new thread, also, because it's a new thread it wont give me a prediction to tag when I type a name, so I have just copied and paste the names off of everyone who posted on the very last page of the thread, I hope anyone else can find it OK. Sorry, maybe there is an easier better way... if anyone else can remember extra names and spellings, please tag 🙂

@samilicious this is really helpful, thanks! I have heard of it, a friend of mine had IVF and she told me a fair bit about it. The carbs are my killer, I just love them so much 😭 everything else I’m pretty good on. I’ve been reading Miscarriage: what every woman needs to know, it’s by a professor who runs one of the biggest fertility clinics in the uk and as it’s heavily science based it’s right up my street. There’s a lot in there about PCOS but long story short it’s still a bit of a mystery and they don’t really know how to fix most of the issues it causes 😂 metformin is the big thing I need to ask the doctors about (and inositol as a natural alternative). @Ladyinpink1 I’m going to call the consultant secretary and see if I can go direct but I suspect I’ll have to go via the GP to discuss. It feels good to have a plan so I know I’ve explored every option of nothing else, for my own peace of mind. I’m probably taking the mickey a bit work wise as I’m physically well now, but I feel like the stress they put me under didn’t help my chances with this pregnancy, and because my son’s been in and out of hospital I’ve not had much time to process this loss, so I am going to take a fair bit of time off until I feel properly able to cope with the pressure again. They are very understanding of my situation to be fair so it won’t be a problem.

@purplecolouroffunk my cycles are mental and the EPU said just to crack on once bleeding had stopped etc if I felt ready, as the only problem it causes is with dating if you fall straight away, and I have that problem regardless. It doesn’t make any difference to your chances of miscarriage they said to me, it’s purely when it feels right for you. My friend had her son directly after a miscarriage (her second MMC in a row), no period in between. Good luck!

Jellybelly888 · 08/05/2024 10:16

@HerbaceousPerennial the guidelines have changed now with Metformin and GPs are allowed to prescribe it now for PCOS if it’s been officially diagnosed by the hospital. When I was TTC my DS 8 years ago, you could only get it via the consultant in the hospital but now I needed it for another baby with my new partner, the GP told me they can prescribe it now.

My body responds well to metformin and 8 years ago it took 1500mg per day to shorten my cycles, but this time it’s taken 2000mg dose per day to do it, however I’m in my mid 30s now which I think makes a difference.

If you have an official PCOS diagnosis then it’s worth chatting to your GP to save time and energy going down the fertility clinic route!

purplecolouroffunk · 08/05/2024 13:59

Thanks everyone. You’ve definitely made me feel better about things. My dr also said there’s no reason to wait and that she’d only recommend it for timing. I just got into a hole where I was reading about a lot of women having a second MC after falling before a period. But I guess that’s always just going to be down to chance.

So this afternoon I’m getting a ‘high’ (1.28) reading on an easy@home OPK but an empty circle on Clearblue. Any ideas?! They’ve always timed up correctly for me in the past. Could it mean LH is detected but no estrogen? Or maybe an anovulatory cycle? I’m confused 😂

@purplecolouroffunk That’s odd. Is the digital maybe new?

purplecolouroffunk · 08/05/2024 14:18

@emmatcc1 ohh it's the first time I've used a digital one this cycle, so could be that?

emmatcc1 · 08/05/2024 14:25

@purplecolouroffunk A new digital will always read blank on the first test.

purplecolouroffunk · 08/05/2024 14:26

@emmatcc1 oh okay that's really useful to know - thank you. I only have one digital stick left so will need to use it wisely 😂

purplecolouroffunk · 08/05/2024 15:10

@emmatcc1 just retested and have a solid smiley on CB and a peak on easy@home. Yay!!

HerbaceousPerennial · 08/05/2024 16:18

@purplecolouroffunk if you have leftover hCG in your system it can give you a false positive on OPKs. Is your pregnancy test totally negative? If not that could be it (sorry, don’t mean to bring you down).

@Jellybelly888 that is so helpful, thank you so much. I’ll book in with the GP. I’ve always been slightly wary of starting on anything because even though my cycles have been long (around 6-8 weeks but varies) since I stopped breastfeeding, I’ve always fallen pregnant without too much trouble. So I really want to ask them whether it will help with the miscarriages. To complicate things further my ovaries have looked normal on scans since I had my son - obviously no idea what my hormone levels are like now, I was diagnosed about 7 years ago now and my periods now are far more ‘regular’ than they used to be which suggests things are better than they were. It’s all so confusing. I was a bit over confident TTC number 2, because with my son I was pregnant within 6 months (only second cycle though) and my pregnancy was completely uncomplicated. I was so prepared for it to be a nightmare conceiving my first, it never occurred to me once that was relatively straightforward I’d have problems second time round. Do you mind me asking, what was your experience like on metformin with your first, and then trying again now? Don’t feel you have to answer, aware it’s very personal

Ladyinpink1 · 08/05/2024 17:35

Great, thank you @samilicious I actually love the 90% coco Lindt chocolate, I had a square each day after ovulation this cycle, I can't remember why but it's meant to help when ttc.
So you will be proud of me today (see picture) although it's really not cheap to eat healthy is it. Arr you back home now? x

@HerbaceousPerennial Hoping either way that you dont have long to wait.
I took 5 weeks off with my last miscarriage because I was all set to go back to work week 4, then I walked past the baby clothes section in a shop and it just hit me, so def take your time. I'm glad your work is understanding, also I read that miscarriage is counted as "pregnancy related sickness" so it can't be counted against your overall sickness record x

@HerbaceousPerennial yes was tracking hCG with tests and definitely got a stark white test. Thankfully!

HerbaceousPerennial · 08/05/2024 19:23

@purplecolouroffunk oh good, sorry I think I got a bit muddled up there! Hooray for ovulation!

@Ladyinpink1 thanks, I’m just going to cut myself plenty of slack I think and try and get into a decent headspace. I was thinking three weeks so we’ll see. That will give me a couple of days once my son’s back in nursery etc to just focus on myself, I’ve not had that yet with his operation. I pushed through a reasonable level of sickness etc so plenty of pregnancy related sick leave I think is justified. I really want a bit of time to reconnect with DH too, we’ve been like ships in the night to be honest

purplecolouroffunk · 08/05/2024 19:29

@HerbaceousPerennial not at all! If I hadn’t seen a negative test I’d think it was the hCG too.

Ahh it feels kind of scary to be back on the TTC train so quickly. I’d intended to wait after I’d had my first period. I could have sworn I would have ovulated when I was away last week, but must have taken 3 weeks for ovulation after my D&C as it turns out.

Anyone else currently in the TWW?

Ladyinpink1 · 08/05/2024 20:32

I'm sorry your son is unwell and in hospital too, this has been a really tough time for you! Hope that he isn't going to be in too long.

yes I am in tww...8dpo, but pretty sure it isn't my month x

BFN for me today guys, I wasn't super hopeful this month, but then in bed last night I thought I felt cramps so I got my hopes up (prob trapped wind) Anyway I took it quite hard first thing, feeling ok now but so frustrated, I'm going to make a thread about ladies who have took linger to concieve and see if I can get any tips or even just read encouraging experiences, will let you know if I find anything helpful.

Has anyone tried reflexology? x

@Ladyinpink1 it's so hard - keeping everything crossed that this current cycle surprises you xx

HerbaceousPerennial · 09/05/2024 16:43

@Ladyinpink1 ah I’m so sorry to hear that. The more I read about miscarriage, conception and pregnancy, the more mysterious and random it seems, it’s so frustrating. I’ve not tried reflexology but I feel like it can’t do any harm, worst case scenario it’s just a very expensive but pleasant foot massage is my view! And it may help. I am going look into acupuncture though, I’ve made a coping plan after this latest miscarriage and having tasks like that help to keep me sane and help me feel like I’m doing something. Yeah I physically miscarried whilst DH was in hospital overnight with our son after his operation, I would not recommend it. It’s been a shit couple of weeks! I was lucky to have a friend with me though, she is a truly fabulous human being.

@purplecolouroffunk I am a bit weirded out by starting to try again so soon too, my last miscarriage took 2.5 months. I got my negative test today and I’m not bleeding any more so I think I can start trying now which feels so soon, I only miscarried 9/10 days ago. I think maybe I need to wait until it’s been 2 weeks? I’m not quite sure what the right thing to do is!

samilicious · 10/05/2024 00:16

@Ladyinpink1 so sorry you got a bfn and it's hit you so hard this morning :( having symptoms is the worst for getting hopes up. Deffo share any tips ♥️ from this book, the quantities of the basics in multivitamins are way too low. I'll post the recommendations now. I've never tried reflexology but I'm trying reiki soon

Worst nightmare happened today. My MIL who is like my best friend and DD's third parent has a stroke early hours of the morning, few hours after we got back from hols all together. Been touch and go for most of the day, only seen DH cry twice in 10+ years and he cried on the phone today from the hospital. Any good vibes not going to ttc please send them her way ♥️♥️♥️ 🙏🏻

@samilicious sending good vibes to your lovely MIL. What a horrible thing to happen, I’m keeping everything crossed. Did she get treated quickly? Hope you managed to get some sleep.

Thanks also for typing out the recommendations. Lots of food for thought there. And a long shopping list!

CluelessInLondon · 10/05/2024 09:34

@samilicious I'm sorry to hear about your MIL, I hope she's been able to get quick treatment and that she can make a full recovery. ❤
