@Paws4thought was that just your booking in appointment, then the next one around 8wks is with your actual midwife? How ours work. I had questions and 1st one just kept saying ask the midwife nxt time lol its a shame u havent had more support.
@Westy22 love watching house transformations on tv....to be part of one though... no thank you 🀣

Paws4thought · 16/02/2024 20:05

@Supertrooper101 yeah, although the letter read that it was your first contact with the community midwife so I assumed it would be more than general checks, have to wait for midwife to be appointed now

Paws4thought · 16/02/2024 21:17

@Sez281 @Supertrooper101 just realised I'm taken 400mcg folic acid (think that's the recommended. 5 mg is like 10x more, why are they recommending the higher dose?

Westy22 · 16/02/2024 21:48

Good question @Paws4thought I want to know too as I've been googling why my red blood cells are slightly larger and it says potentially low foliate/b12....although my gp didn't say this was the case x I'm going to start the b12 but I take 400mcg of folate a day x

Sez281 · 17/02/2024 06:18

@Paws4thought sounds like kind of an anti climax with the midwife 🀨 Glad that you'd no spotting yesterday, hopefully that's a sign that it's easing up now 🀞 I've been on the 5mg of folic acid since October, she prescribed me that and the DHEA (which I stopped after positive) I just presumed the folic acid was an age and possibly weight thing for me πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

@Westy22 I'm convinced that preseed (or conceive plus in my case) definitely helped things last cycle for me. Hopefully it does for you too πŸ™

@Supertrooper101 oh I love the snow ⛄️ πŸ˜‚ I've also been down rabbit holes on the thermal springs there and whether they're safe πŸ€” it seems that some of them are below a certain temp. I'll just have to be careful and maybe get in and out after 5 mins each time!

Sez281 · 17/02/2024 06:21

@Paws4thought I forgot to say, my cramping had eased a lot in the last few days but it's back fairly badly this morning😣. I think I'm just going to have to accept that it's my "normal" until told otherwise πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

xxcxdonxx · 17/02/2024 07:15

@Supertrooper101 ive not started the aspirin as yet, I might do 75mg for now but im a bit nervous to if its not needed. Maybe every second day for now.

@Sez281 i went to ReykjavΓk years ago with my friends, we had a great time. Hope all the holiday prep between now then can keep you busy ahead of your scan.
We are off on Monday and I’m not packed, this week at work was hectic for trying to finish up so that’s my job over the weekend.

Supertrooper101 · 17/02/2024 09:26

@Sez281 snow looks pretty, the cabins look pretty and warm there (well, ski resorts on films lol ) , but the cold...i would be sooooo mardy lol if your paranoid about the sprungs, just put yiur feet in, is that an option? Lol... av been gavibg cramps last few day too. Suppose if we didnt have anything we would be paranoid too!
@Paws4thought i dont know about the 5mg tbh. Nothing online suggests most ppl need it. More a diabetes, history of neural problems, bmi etc. I asked last year tho and the dr said high dose folic and aspirin. To be discussed with the consulatant at 14wks πŸ€” far too late then for folic and plus i didnt make it that far anyway. Ive been taking 1mg ontop on the vitamins for awhile now. Ive asked for my folate to be checked so got a blood test monday. But the dr said high levels course no harm anyway. If you wabt to up yours the highest dose on amazon i think is 1mg 1000ug so just take a couple of them a day. What are you doing about a scan then? Your patiance and what will be will be is really admirable... although being passed around maybe does that lol
@xxcxdonxx just start the aspirin after ovulation, the blood flow is meant to encourage implantation πŸ™‚

Sez281 · 17/02/2024 15:10

@Supertrooper101 I agree it's a double edged sword and I worry when they're gone too. I needed to take paracetamol today for them as they were quite bad. My mind keeps thinking that the progesterone is blocking a bleed from happening 😣

@xxcxdonxx I can't wait. I know it's crazy expensive but it's a bucket list thing πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. Plus I won't be drinking the €20 drinks now πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ Did you get lucky and see the northern lights?
I think you're probably right to wait till you get BFP to start taking it everyday as your issue didn't seem to be implanting the last couple of times but sticking? If it doesn't do any harm though then I'd agree with @Supertrooper101 Enjoy your hols too, Hope it's somewhere nice and a good distraction from the tww πŸ˜‰ xx

OP posts:
SnookyPook · 17/02/2024 15:21

@xxcxdonxx hope the packing is going well and you're able to enjoy a nice break. Xx

@Sez281 ah bless you. Unfortunately nothing any of us can say is going to help is it... These early days you just have to tough it out from scan to scan. It's really hard. It's so draining... We've all been so focused on getting that next BFP and then it happens and it's like 'oh shiiiiit... Now I've got a whole new load of worries'. I've definitely calmed a lot since my last panic and it's amazing to be in the 2nd trimester but I'm still aware of intrusive thoughts etc from time to time. Day by day... πŸ’•

Paws4thought · 17/02/2024 15:21

@Sez281 ah OK I guess if needed it would be prescribed, prob loads of reasons. Ah that's frustrating cramps are worse again, as you said tho you'd worry if they weren't there too, not too long til your scan.
I hope you grt to see the northern lights, that's on my bucket list too.
@Supertrooper101 as you say bit late at 14 weeks and too much can't do any harm.
I phoned the epu this morning as spotting again but it's gone darker, she's referred for me to have a scan this week so gotta wait til Monday and hope they call.
@Westy22 what does b12 help with?

Sez281 · 17/02/2024 17:29

@SnookyPook I'd say it's amazing being officially in the 2nd trimester πŸ™Œ No doubt the worries sneak through now and then as you say, but I'd imagine you can breathe just a little easier πŸ™πŸ’ It's a strange one for me. I have to keep reminding my self that I'm actually pregnant πŸ™ˆ. I mean the tiredness, nausea and cramps are obviously a constant reminder but it's like I still don't believe it. Maybe its a self preservation thing and it will feel more real if we hopefully see a heartbeat next weekπŸ™ xx

@Paws4thought Oh I'm so sorry to hear that you're still going through this, it's so shit! 😣 Hopefully you'll be able to get some reassurance early in the weekπŸ™ xx Also I'd nearly stage a sit down protest for progesterone with them at this stage! There's absolutely no reason that the epau shouldn't be giving it to you. I mean it's not a golden ticket that guarantees everything will be ok but it can't hurt to try it xx

OP posts:
Supertrooper101 · 17/02/2024 19:57

@SnookyPook uv defo the experience to say those wise words lol just bloody hard isnt it.. dont suppose you had any cervice 'twitching' going on? lol i dont remember that happening last time πŸ€”
@Paws4thought i think mrs, your going to have to keep at epu till they see you regularly while your bleeding and to get that progesterone.it isnt fair on you. There meant to be there for this stage and to help, so thats what they need to be doing. If they dont ring you by dinner, ring them. Dont play it down, tell them how its making you feel and repeat the fact yiu already have a bleed in there and its worrying you.
@Sez281 could the cramps be trapped wind. That can be painful too. Worth asking on your scan if your gassy in there lol

Paws4thought · 17/02/2024 21:36

@Sez281 @Supertrooper101 I think you're both right, I need to be more pushy, as you say they should be there to help at this stage, I think I almost want to bury my head in the sand and believe all is OK so keep pushing makes it feel there's something wrong, if that makes sense.

Sez281 · 18/02/2024 06:40

@Paws4thought that makes total sense and I get completely get it. I'm sure all is ok and they're right not worrying too much. At the end of the day we're not medical professionals and don't have a clue reallyπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ, I think just from my own research over the last year I'm a major advocate of progesterone and don't see any reason not to prescribe it.. hopefully you get some reassurance with a scan soon either way πŸ™ xx

@Supertrooper101 My OH keeps asking are the cramps from trapped wind but they're not. I had that one of the days last week. And whilst the pain is quite similar it's not exactly the same...and in that case it can be relieved πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ I feel like it's my usual post ovulation cramps that are usually relieved because AF appears. Maybe the progesterone is exasperating them. Anyway it seems to have eased a bit this morning so hopefully won't get bad again 🀞

xxcxdonxx · 18/02/2024 08:26

@Sez281 no we didn’t see them, it was September we had went so it was maybe too early. We did the blue lagoon spa and one of the bus tours but I get travel sick so spent most of the time sleeping 😷
Glad that your cramps have eased off, every niggle can be a worry in these early stages.

Ah @Paws4thought sorry that your spotting has come back. I think sometimes EPU can be of the mindset just to β€˜wait and see’ but it’s not fair to have this worry over you and to not be prescribed something that could possibly help. I only had progesterone prescribed from the recurrent miscarriage clinic as EPU or my gp wouldn’t offer it. Hoping that someone calls you back early tomorrow for a scan.

Supertrooper101 · 18/02/2024 10:38

@Sez281 wonder if you have a sensativity to progesterone and if thid is your normal tww then your bodys confused and making more like it normally would. Probably not. I dort nor πŸ˜….. clasping at straws lol
@Paws4thought i understand the bury the head. But wouldnt you feel better in the long run nagging a little for some extra help even if things are ok? For your end peice of mind. I think you deserve it.

Westy22 · 18/02/2024 10:44

@Paws4thought I would definitely push EPU to be seen if your worrying, I know as @xxcxdonxx says they are probably in the wait and see mindset but if you feel like it's mentally affecting you then speak to them.

I finally got access to my results on the NHS app lol the worst thing they could've give me 🀣 my day 21 progesterone last cycle was 34.2 which seems alright. The one that stands out is the one that indicates potential anaemia as I'm below the 'normal' so I've started iron and b12 capsules to see if I can boost that up, with me having ceoliac I'm potentially always going to show lacking something so maybe that's why they've accepted it but I know iron and b12 can improve fertility. 🀞

Supertrooper101 · 18/02/2024 12:00

@Westy22 that day 21 is really good. On the guidlines here it says over 16 is fine. But i read that over 30 is great.. vitamin c helps iron absorb better so maybe buy some of them too to take with your iron πŸ™‚

Westy22 · 18/02/2024 12:16

Ah really I will take that too ive got a cupboard full of different vits @Supertrooper101 😊 I've always struggled with iron supplements feel like my stomach hates them lol I tried the liquid stuff but it's not nice. How are you? X

Yeah I was happy with that, I hope there's not a thing of too much progesterone ha with my mc they said my progesterone was really strong and questioned if I was taking it so least I know my body does something right lol x

Sez281 · 18/02/2024 21:12

That's a perfect number @Westy22 πŸ™Œ Your OH should get his results soon too?

@Paws4thought hope things have improved but if not that you get a call early tomorrow to get booked in for some reassurance xx

OP posts:
Supertrooper101 · 19/02/2024 08:13

@Westy22 am the opposite with iron, i load it if i dont manage it lol (heamochromotosis) . Am ok. Still nervous things are going to go wrong but there we go lol no i would say if yiur body makes alot of progesterone then that is really good. Some people have to supplement for spotting etc so no, be plsd with them results. So is it a case you have had all your tests and there fine? (I always forgot whose on what path lol ) Just waiting on oh results? March soon, soon be june for your app!
@Paws4thought hope you get somewhere today with them. Make sure to ring them if they dont you.

Paws4thought · 19/02/2024 09:24

@Sez281 I think half the time we learn more from each other than the professionals, can't beat personal experience.
@xxcxdonxx ah glad I'm not the only one struggling to get it, I guess as a lot of pregnancy are fine without they don't see the need until you've had recurrent loss but that doesn't help when you're feeling anxious and guidance has changed.
@Westy22 glad your results were good and you can take supplements for the lower results, has your oh had his results yet?
@Supertrooper101 yeah definitely worth nagging in the long run, even if they don't give it I know I've tried. They rang first thing and I've got scan today at midday which is a relief.

SnookyPook · 19/02/2024 09:31

@Paws4thought ah I'm so glad. Hopefully will give you some much needed clarity and reassurance. Not too long to wait. Will be thinking of you πŸ’•

Sez281 · 19/02/2024 12:45

Hope the scan went ok @Paws4thought and you have a bit more reassurance now πŸ™ xx
